Morning all. I have a wash on, but given the forecast is thick cloud and light wind, I may be on a bit of a hiding to nothing. It's also a bit cold, I may be lighting a fire shortly. <bores self back to sleep>

Have a good day all.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 08/03/2026 16:26

The washing got slightly less damp, then the sea mist came in. So the washing is draped about the house indoors now.

This afternoon has been gardening, and now I'm flaked out on the sofa watching lots of lovely dogs on Crufts. Flyball about to start!

ApricotCrush · 08/03/2026 16:52

Afternoon. Another dismal day, haven't done much. DH has had some floor tiles up in the kitchen as the floor underneath seems to be breaking up in places, so that's been fun. Power tools and brick dust and trying to keep an inquisitive cat out of the way. Hmm

I saw that there's a new series of The Capture Fancy and will suggest that we start at the beginning as I can't remember what happened.

Hope headaches have gone away. I'm waking up with one sometimes; I think it's the change of season.

Star for MiniHelen.

Good luck for tomorrow LetUs. That week went quick.

Evening wenches.

It whizzed by Apricot. Back to urgh tomorrow. Hope the kitchen floor is soon resolved.

LovelyMIL didn’t come round for lunch as she was tired after being away up north. DH went round and took some lunch and to check she’s okay.

I’ve had Crufts on too. The flyball even caught DS2’s attention!

Looking forward to Pottery Throwdown final later.

LetUsPrey · 09/03/2026 06:16

Morning wenches.

Right then Monday, let’s be having you <rolls up sleeves>

Hope any headaches which were troubling wenches have gone away.

Brain can’t come up with anything else 😁

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 09/03/2026 08:03

Morning all.

That's a pain re. the kitchen floor Apricot - I hope that MrA gets it all fixed quickly, with or without paw prints in any new floor Grin

It's grey and misty here. DS has mocks and doesn't need to be in college. I've been up booking a driving test though, and I'm tiiiiired. <whinge> I should wake him up though, he asked me to wake him up when I got up, but I ignored that since I didn't think he's expect me to be getting up so early.

Might wake him up and go back to bed though.

ApricotCrush · 09/03/2026 16:44

Afternoon. Grey and dismal here too. I did a Lidl shop and a few jobs locally this morning, then went a walk round the road. Nice to see the blossom on some magnolia trees coming out.

The floor is done without any paw marks.

Ooo, exciting about the driving test Helen. Good luck to him for his mocks. These things come around so quickly.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 09/03/2026 19:48

Evening all. I went back to bed, then IdiotKitty curled up next to me so obviously I wasn't allowed to move.

Quiet day otherwise. The forsythia is blossoming in the garden and the pear and cherry trees look like blossom is imminent.

Hope everyone's had a good day

LetUsPrey · 10/03/2026 06:24

Morning wenches.

Shattered last night. Was nodding off from about 8. The new temporary lights are awful but the alternative routes are busy too so I shall have to just deal with it like a grown up.

Good news re floor being completed Apricot. Loving the descriptions of the signs of spring.

Hope MiniHelen gets a test date soon, and good luck with mocks.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 10/03/2026 07:15

Morning all. Sunshine today. DS wants a lift to his Mocks - not just to the bus, to the actual exam venue. And obviously being a soft touch I've said yes, so and earlier starts today.

<flails and runs out the door>

ApricotCrush · 10/03/2026 16:16

Afternoon. The day started out sunny but gradually deteriorated.

We went out to a large fairly local golf complex this morning for DH to spend the voucher the DC gave him for his birthday and had a meal in the restaurant while we were there, so I haven’t got to cook.

Hope the mocks went well and the traffic wasn’t too bad for LetUs.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 10/03/2026 19:43

Morning wrenches.

Traffic is awful but can’t do anything about it except make sure I’ve lots to listen to in the car.

I’d have done the same as you Helen. Hope the mock went well.

That sounds a lovely day out Apricot, bonus re not having to cook!

Very tired again which might have something to do with waking up every morning around 5 and not getting back to sleep.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 10/03/2026 20:48

Evening all. Tiiiiiired. Though not as tired as LetUs - 5am? Shock <cwtch> And with the traffic on top of it. Uuuuuuuuuuurgh. At least Apricot has had a nice day.

Today's weather was nice, then cloudy, then nice again.

Mock no.1 has gone 'better than expected' Hmm Other than work, I've done a bit of adulting (changing electricity tariff). Oh, and the exercise thing - that might be why I'm tired!

Early night for me I think.

FancyFancy · 10/03/2026 22:16

Evening
Marvellous news about the floor apricot * what a relief that MrA is doing some DIY that is literally at ground level Grin
Fingers crossed for DS's mocks helen & did you manage to book a test? I hear they're a bloody nightmare to get hold of.

Sorry to hear you have all the roadworks letus, we are mercifully clear of them. For now. Trying to appreciate that fact, but my attempt at zen driving was scuppered this morning when I got beeped at by MrVanDriver this morning. My crime? Not driving over a pedestrian crossing while the pedestrian was still crossing. He got the middle finger through the rear window. Wanker Angry

Ho hum, in even duller news, I emptied the compost bin yesterday in anticipation of a few dry days. It is raining as I type <eyerolls> And my back aches

LetUsPrey · 11/03/2026 07:13

Morning wenches.

Good news re the mock. And well done on the exercise Helen.

That driver can have a🖕🏻 from me too. Curses at your rain Fancy.

Quite breezy here today. The can’t be arsed vibe is strong but I’d better get a move on.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 11/03/2026 07:19

Morning all. Rainy here - or it has been. I think it's meant to dry up now.

DS has a test for mid-August. There was one in June, but I suspect that was a cancellation for A-level exam clashes - that's why I didn't nab that one myself!

Another early start here - have a good day all.

<cbf> at the rain on Fancy's 'drying' compost, and <rub> for your back!

ApricotCrush · 11/03/2026 17:13

Afternoon. Nice day, sunny on and off, but it’s cold.

Good about MiniHelen’s mock exam but what a long wait for his driving test. Shock

I’m waking around 4.30 every morning LetUs and can’t go back to sleep. It’s annoying but I don’t have to go to work like you. It’s getting light earlier though.

What an idiot Fancy. Everyone’s in such a hurry on the roads.

Hope every wench has had a good day.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 11/03/2026 19:34

Evening wenches.

Rain, wind, etc.

The lighter mornings are definitely making a positive difference. It’s my bladder waking me up around 4. Whatever age you are, whatever’s the issue is always “it’s your age” 😁

DS1 had quite a wait for his first driving test. Not sure if he’s had a date yet for his second one.

Am crocheting a blanket which has the added bonus of keeping my lap and legs warm the further I get with it 😁

Might do bath’n’book later.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 11/03/2026 22:05

Evening all. It has been another day of work and having to concentrate very hard. Tiiiiiiiiiiiiired. Though once I'm asleep I'm ok, and I'm not waking up until it's time to get up. So that's a relief. Sympathies to all early wakers.

Weather was ok here. The wind is a bit chilly, and it's a clear night at the moment.

Hope that all wenches avoided any fuckwit drivers today.

LetUsPrey · 12/03/2026 06:21

Morning wenches.

My legs are tired and aching. They could put me in one of those adverts on ITV3 with Clare Balding. Wouldn’t mind that to be honest 😁

Already quite windy here.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 12/03/2026 13:41

Afternoon all. Taxiing, exercise and work have been done. Just had lunch so I should get down to work again. It's windy here, and currently cloudy though there has been sunshine too. Lots of wind though. I keep having to put pots back upright on the patio.

My knees ache LetUs, for no obvious reason. Getting older is crap. Sad

ApricotCrush · 12/03/2026 16:53

Afternoon. Horrible day, rain, very windy, cold. I haven’t done much all day and feel like I should go for a walk, but there’s no way I’m going out in this. I may get on the treadmill later. May…

We are doing some exercises in the evening which are supposed to make you sleep better, but I haven’t seen any difference. DH doesn’t have that problem. If he wakes up he goes back to sleep in 10 seconds flat.

Hope everyone’s had a good day.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 12/03/2026 20:51

Evening wenches.

Good lord the wind earlier today. It had thankfully died down a bit by home time but it was still chucking it down.

MrApricot sounds similar to DH. Oh I managed to get back to sleep quite quickly! Did you?! DID YOU?! How nice.

Work was rather crap but whatever.

FancyFancy · 12/03/2026 21:00

Evening, back has mercifully eased up as the week went on which is a pleasant surprise.

Also very windy here, it would be great for drying compost, but it's also showery, so no luck there. We also have some road works en route to work. Feeling lucky I have some flexibility on work hours so the queues were short, sympathies with those who have to drive past them at peak rush, must be a bloody nightmare.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 12/03/2026 21:15

OMG the wind! It's blowing a hooley out there - IdiotKitty is unimpressed. Though there hasn't been any rain yet. (DH has football on and it's coming down in sheets in... Nottingham?)

Worryingly, LittleChicken is missing from the coop this evening. We didn't go to shut them in until dark, so have spent a few fruitless laps of the garden walking around in the dark, with torches, trying to find a black hen Hmm. Hopefully she'll be outside the coop in the morning looking outraged about being shut out, but it seem unlikely unless she's gone off being broody. But she's only even been broody in the coop. I suspect she's either been nabbed by a predator, or has keeled over in a corner, being rather old. Sad

Glad to hear that Fancy's back is better. LetUs work can get in the bin. All wenches are hereby summoned to sunny beach to snooze in the warmth, and have lots of long lie-ins.
