Evening all. LOL at the bonkers dreams - I love the idea of being presented with a wrapped spindle each! I don't remember any of my recent dreams so presumably nothing especially bonkers.

I haven't actually done anything this afternoon apart from a food shop and mooch in the local town. Making plans for a few theatre trips with a friend.

LetUsPrey · 15/02/2026 08:52

Morning wenches.

Theatre plans sound excellent Helen.

Quite grey here. Ironing done and away/distributed. Usual Sunday ahead with added Olympics.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 15/02/2026 11:19

Morning all. Raaaaaaaaaaaaain. I'm regretting my decision to do the shopping yesterday when I could have been out in the garden in the dry. Ho hum.

We have olympics on, and no plans other than tidying and stuff.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 15/02/2026 13:44

I did not expect snow Shock though it hasn't a chance of settling, with the ground so wet.

ApricotCrush · 15/02/2026 17:28

Afternoon. Snow Helen? Shock Only rain here. Aaaaall day.

Nothing going on here. I was going to do stuff but didn't. Hmm

Have a good evening all.

Evening. Can't believe it's Monday tomorrow already.

Fräsan visited the vet on Thursday, she's still losing weight among other things. Waiting to hear back regarding test results. She also got two different medications I have to give her so that's a lot of fun.

Fräsan does that too Apes Grin

<Googles skeleton> Had no idéa that was a sport Grin

Hope you enjoyed the theatre Fancy.

How nice of Idiotkitty to keep you company Helen Grin

LetUsPrey · 15/02/2026 19:16

Evening wenches.

Gosh what an excellent day of Winter Olympics!

No snow here. There was rain but I didn’t mind it because I was doing bath’n’book at the time and it was lovely to listen to.

<squidge> Wicked and everything crossed for Fräsan.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 15/02/2026 21:12

Evening all.

The snow settled a tiny bit in the end, but melted fast enough. Just even wetter underfoot now (and we don't even have floods this year, so eek and Sad for everyone who does).

Much baking and cooking this afternoon - cakes for a catch-up with a friend tomorrow, cauliflower cheese, and a baked pudding which tasted really odd, but was edible enough when smothered in custard.

Olympics has been quite exciting. Bath and book sounds like a good plan LetUs, I might do similar if I can pry myself off the sofa.

<cwtch> to Wicked and fingers crossed for Fräsan's test results. It's such a worry when they get older and frailer and... argh Sad

LetUsPrey · 16/02/2026 06:13

Morning wenches.

Gosh but the rain’s really making an effort. Not so keen on it when we have to go out in it later.

Mmm cake. Enjoy your catch up Helen.

Have great days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 16/02/2026 09:03

Morning all. We have sunshine! Shock (For now anyway.) No comment on sunrise though since no-one was awake early enough to see it.

Also, tiiiired. DH was awake and worrying last night about his DPs - they're not in good health and they've been slow to ask GP etc for help. Sad

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 16/02/2026 15:03

I know that they're completely different languages, etc, but I have the curling on in the background, and just one bit of the Norwegians' chat immediately made me think of the Swedish Chef Grin And following from that, can you imagine the carnage of the Muppets doing Curling?! Grin Grin Grin

ApricotCrush · 16/02/2026 17:00

Afternoon. Sun, rain, sun rain etc. We went to the local garden centre this morning for something to do, didn't buy anything.

Oh WW, that is a worry about Fräsan, fingers crossed that she's alright. <hugs>

Hope you enjoyed your catch-up Helen. Also hope MrHelen's DPs are alright. I understand about not going to the GP. It opens a can of worms and they send you for all sorts of tests and I just can't be bothered. Grin at Muppets doing Curling.

Have a good evening all.

Evening all. Weather has been mostly nice, with interludes of cold splatty rain.

Stupid Olympics [grumpy] Still, we have the best 4th placed athletes Hmm

Meet-up was fun, I had two in the end, both involving chocolate cake Grin ILs have had a visit from the Dr, who made reassuring and helpful noises, so DH is slightly happier with the situation.

FancyFancy · 16/02/2026 21:32

Afternoon. Had one of my 'let's confuse everyone in the office by working on a Monday' days. Theatre was fun thanks, and was good to see the family. DSis and BIL were here for the rest of the weekend and then went off on Eurostar this morning.

I very much hoping letus hasn't been washed away <side eyes rain>

I would so watch Muppet curling Helen, Animal doing the brushing would be fabulous 😁

Go to a garden centre and not spend any money apricot? Not a concept that I understand 👀

Keeping everything crossed for Frasan ww ❤️

LetUsPrey · 16/02/2026 21:42

Evening wenches.

Raaaaaiiinnnnn. Went super dark just before lunch. Very bored of people coming in to talk at me and NC about how very very busy they are, whilst we’re both working away.

That sounds on the positive side for MrHelen’s DPs. Catch ups sound fun.

Garden centres were a regular trip when my parents had one of the DC a day a week and generally included a cafe visit 😊

Another vote for Muppet Curling 😄

LetUsPrey · 17/02/2026 06:13

Morning wenches.

Dark and cold this morning. Brrr.

<puts plates of various pastries and jugs of juices on the bar>

Might as well have a treat to start the day.

Have great days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 17/02/2026 08:32

Morning all. Oh - I like this start to the day! Buttered croissant and freshly pressed apple juice for me thanks!

It's sunny outside with high cloud, but it's pretty black to the north of us, and I haven't looked at a forecast, so who knows what the day will bring. So far it's bought food and cauliflower leaves to the chickens...

Have a good day all.

FancyFancy · 17/02/2026 13:53

<runs in to swipe a croissant & some grapefuit juice>

ApricotCrush · 17/02/2026 17:06

Afternoon. Cloudy all day and cold, but no rain. DH is tackling the garden as it's the first garden bin day next week. That came along quickly. There's no way I'm going out there.

I did a Sainsbury shop this morning and the bill didn't calculate a 'two for one' on some face cream. I wouldn't mind but it amounted to £17. Fortunately I checked the receipt in the car and went back in rather hurriedly. All sorted, but it took an age which I could have done without.

<where have all the croissants gone?>

Hope everyone's had a good day.

Evening wenches.

<wakes from pastry coma>
<brushes off flakes of pastry>

That must have been a bit of a shock Apricot! Just more stuff to sort out which takes up more time.

Watching the men’s freestyle skiing. I love our commentators so much 😄

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 17/02/2026 23:00

Evening all. I have been setting up a new laptop. Slowly. It's such faff, and the keyboard is slightly different so there will be typos ahoy once I'm signed into everything on it and using it. I just can't face wading through it all tonight.

Today's excitement was a roofer coming out to look at a leaking velux and gutter and slipped tiles. Unlike the previous one who wanted to replace the velux and strip off half the roof to do it, he agreed that it needs replacing in the long term, but for now hopped up and slapped sealant into it and said hopefully that would fix it for now, and to call him if it started leaking again. Plus scrambled up ladders to fix the gutter and the tiles on the spot. I like this one!

Thank goodness for checking the receipt Apricot.
<dabs at flakes of pastry left on the tray>

LetUsPrey · 18/02/2026 06:59

Morning wenches.

What an excellent roofer chap Helen!

Dark and a bit frosty again this morning. I checked the forecast though and apparently it’s going to be 13° on Saturday. Madness.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 18/02/2026 10:41

Morning - yes, the weather is mad changeable. There was ice in the bird bath this morning. Day off today and it's dry outside, but not very conducive to going out to do anything. (Cold and windy.) There are currently snowboarders on TV doing mad twiddly things in mid-air.

ApricotCrush · 18/02/2026 16:42

Afternoon. Cold and windy here too. Yes, 13° next week, bonkers. I did a washload but didn't think it would dry on the line so it went in the tumbler.

Yay for an honest roofer Helen. Not that I'm saying they're dishonest, but we find that most tradespeople think of a price and double it. That's why DH does as much as he can himself.

We had a quote for the caravan insurance which had increased ridiculously although they're supposed to have come down. Anyway a trawl through the comparison sites found one which was a third of the price. Also I ordered Misty's food this morning and it was more than twice as much on Amazon as going direct to the manufacturer. You've got to have your wits about you.

Have a lovely evening all.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 18/02/2026 17:58

Evening all.

You could spend all day trying to find the best price Apricot, there's so many options Sad I mean, the choice is good, but it's time consuming trying to check you're not paying over the odds. I think there was a TV show 'Eat well for Less' where Greg Wallace [boak] and someone else went round reducing people's grocery bills, which was great, but it would end up "I went to Aldi for this, and an offer in Sainsburys for this, and Asda..." you get the idea. It would take all day and a tank of petrol to replicate their efforts! Never mind whether they even had those supermarkets locally.

I did put some washing on the line to try and blow dry, which has worked to an extent, but it's had to come in before it's completely dry. I've spent most of the day hiding indoors because the wind is bitter.
