Afternoon. Dull and dismal day. Poor DH. We had a call from DD yesterday to say that they'd got some damp patches on their kitchen ceiling. He went round and found it was piping from a toilet upstairs which had cracked or something. He's been there all morning mending it.

In good news however, the car battery has arrived and it fits, so I can go out tomorrow.

Hope the vet visit went well Helen and the headache hasn't returned.

Have a good evening all.

Evening all. The headache came back at 3:30am, but hasn't come back again after I drugged myself up, so that's something. The vet agreed with my prognosis, so it was a very shit end of the day today. Ho hum Sad

Glad to hear that the battery works Apricot. Hope everyone's had a good day.

LetUsPrey · 10/02/2026 21:26

Evening wenches.

Dull, rain, dull, rain. Work was even more crap than usual with the added bonus of someone stuffing something up that won’t affect them but will affect me, and one of the bosses in particular.

Good news re battery Apricot. Your DC are so lucky to have you and MrApricot to help out in the ways that you do. I have fond memories of my dad coming up with his drill and tools when I bought my first house. He bought me my own toolkit too which was very forward thinking and modern for him 😊

That sounds epically shit Helen <squidge> 😔

LetUsPrey · 11/02/2026 07:10

Morning wenches.

Not wanting to wish my life away but how is it only Wednesday? Blaaahhhhhh.

We have rain forecast all day again. I’d quite like to just stay at home surrounded by yarn.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 11/02/2026 07:53

Morning all. Staying at home with yarn (or asleep under a duvet) sounds like the best plan LetUs, but needs must...

The weather is dank, misty<nto> and generally glooooom.

<leaves for work>
<sneaks back into Tav via the back door>
<hides in hayloft>
Shhhh.....

Have a good day all.

ApricotCrush · 11/02/2026 16:29

Afternoon. Rain this morning and thunderstorms were forecast for this afternoon, but the sun’s out. Confused

Oh Helen I’m so sorry. <cwtch> Sad

The DC are very grateful LetUs and they’re always there for us if we need them. It would be no good giving me a toolkit, I don’t know one end of a spanner from the other. Hmm

Hope everyone’s had a good day.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 11/02/2026 18:53

Lots of hugs Helen

Hope work was better today Letus.

Good news about the car battery Apes.

I have a very nice toolbox in black and red, I bought it because it was pretty Grin

Aaw at snuggly cat Fancy.

LetUsPrey · 11/02/2026 19:41

Evening wenches.

Another shocker of a day. Thankfully dodged the tipping down rain when walking to the car.

Oh gosh, I hope Helen’s day out of the Tav went well today because she’s definitely not here. Nope. Absolutely not.

It’s clear from what you say about your family Apricot that they’re a really good bunch and actually jolly good eggs.

Pretty and practical Wicked, it’s a winning combination.

FancyFancy · 11/02/2026 20:06

<cwtches> Helen that is very sad news

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 11/02/2026 22:13

My father bought be a power drill when I left home. DH was shocked when he saw it because mine was better than his. It's a point of pride Grin

I am baffled by families who don't run about offering to help, or actually helping each other. It must be horrible, and feels so sad.

FFS at work LetUs - my day was annoyingly unproductive and I've cancelled a day's holiday because year end is looming and I need to have stuff prepped. What idiot thought it was a good idea to force our holiday year to coincide with the financial year? We're simultaneously stressed up to your eyeballs, rushed off our feet AND being told to take outstanding holiday - all to the same deadline. FML, etc.

We did at least manage a lunchtime walk without being rained on, though it started again when we got back in.

LetUsPrey · 12/02/2026 06:13

Morning wenches.

You know Big Bird has those feathers sticking up on top of his head? Just caught my reflection in the window and I was reminded of that.

That does not seem like good planning having the holiday year end and financial year end at the same time.

Had another rubbish night’s sleep but on we go.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 12/02/2026 12:42

Not-quite-morning all. It's dreary and wet again, and nothing to report. My motivation is awol (run off with my energy I think), and I'm not sure a hot chocolate will jump start it.

I'm sure your hair looks nothing like Big Bird LetUs Grin An even if it does, Big Bird is an icon.

Hope everywench is having a good day. Thank you for the sympathies re. Wobbly - she was very old and much loved and much missed (except by IdiotKitty who is delighted at having the 'posh biscuits for dietary intolerant cats' all to himself). <eye roll>

ApricotCrush · 12/02/2026 17:29

Afternoon. Rain all day. I got a bit wet doing the food shop. How come mince has doubled in price? It’s ridiculous.

Grin at WW buying a toolkit because it was pretty. Also LetUs’s Big Bird hair.

You are having a rough time at the moment Helen. Sad

We’ve finished The White Queen. Thank goodness for Wikipedia. Everyone was called Edward or Henry or Richard. And Elizabeth or Margaret. Confused They were helpful with the dialogue though. “Hello brother Richard. How is your wife Anne Neville and son Edward?” sort of thing. Anyway we enjoyed it very much and are moving on to The White Princess.

Have a good evening all.

LetUsPrey · 12/02/2026 19:43

Evening wenches.

Rsin. Wasn’t lucky enough to dodge it at home time again though. Work was stupid.

Big Bird is definitely an icon. Would prefer not to match his hair tbh 😄

I think my motivation and energy have run off with yours Helen and are now hiding somewhere.

I’m constantly on Wikipedia when I watch stuff like that Apricot. The age change in actresses considering the action picks up where White Princess left off is quite the thing 😄

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 12/02/2026 21:22

LOL at the dialogue-exposition Apricot - clunky, but useful. "How is your daughter Ruth getting on at her new job as a banker in London, now she's split up with her husband Bert after his affair with Judy?" etc. Grin

In exciting news, Nous avons booked un vacance de ski a Easter! Je am practicing mon tres bon Franglais dans anticipation. More accurately, DH and I are looking at each other saying things like GHIC! Travel Insurance! Car Parking! Mais dans ma tete je parle Franglais. Nous must get aussi get fit. Confused

LetUsPrey · 13/02/2026 07:10

Morning wenches.

Ah excellente Helen! Vous will be tres swoosh swoosh swoosh. (Can’t do franglais at the best of times, first thing is a no)

Dark and rainy, but Friday so yeah.

Physio appointment in just over two weeks which can’t come soon enough. Not sure if I need exercises or WD40.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 13/02/2026 09:11

Morning all.

Do the HBFs need to do any maintenance on you LetUs? <insert comments about oil and stuff> You probably need a long hot bath and some vodka.

Gloomy weather here still, but not actually raining .

Have a good day all.

FancyFancy · 13/02/2026 14:25

I AM ON THE TRAIN
Am off to DDad's for theatre tomorrow with big Sis and her husband too. My train has mercifully been spared the disruption on the line and is only running a couple of minutes late and train staff are being most helpful. Weather remains gloomy and wet - so much flooding in the fields en route.

Yay for booking a holiday Helen although boo to all the admin involved!

Love the Big Bird hair idea 😁 although I'm sure you were nothing like him

Thank goodness for Wikipedia with those sorts of programmes apricot, very helpful for family trees , although I invariably end up down some historical wormhole.....

FancyFancy · 13/02/2026 15:31

Have been chuckling on the MN thread about the new Wuthering Heights film, where someone described the trailer as looking 'like a Meatloaf video' 🤣

ApricotCrush · 13/02/2026 16:14

Afternoon. Horrible day, continuous rain.

We started The White Princess. As well as trying to remember who's who, we now have the added complication of a completely different cast, having aged remarkably in two days as LetUs says. We'll plod on with it.

<snort> at WD40, I know what you mean.

Yay for holiday booking and Franglais

Have a lovely theatre visit Fancy. Will check out the Wuthering Heights trailer.

Have a good evening all. Wine

Evening all. Hurrah for Olympics on tea-trays!

Today has been workish and dull, enlivened by a 'WTF' message from my neighbour who came home to find two mini-diggers parked on her drive. Sadly the keys were nowhere obvious, so we didn't get to play with them and they were taken away to the correct address later in the day.

The manshapes have been out being sporting, I have been helping Dad set up a new printer, which would have been easier if he'd plugged it into the correct port, Hmm Grin

LetUsPrey · 14/02/2026 07:47

Morning wenches.

Work was urgh as usual, came home, watched the skeleton, had dinner, collected DS2 from SportingActivity which involved an impromptu set of temporary lights which seemed to be in effect for my way there and back and then they removed them, watched more skeleton hurrah!, watched the men’s skating ooooooooooo.

Selfish of them not to leave the mini-digger keys Helen.

Enjoy the theatre today Fancy. It’s so easy to get lost when looking up historical folk when you’re watching something 😄

Today is quick trip to nearby village, possibly order a jigsaw, do not much else.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/02/2026 12:40

Afternoon all. My lie-in today was curtailed by IdiotKitty 'keeping me company' which involved clambering about the room, squeezing under a chest of drawers, rustling about on a bag he found... <sigh> Oh well. It means I've been out cutting back ivy and bamboo and cleaning out a nest box, so stuff has been done. I need to go and do some shopping too. What fun! Hmm

Have a good day all - hope Fancy's theatre trip is fun.

ApricotCrush · 14/02/2026 17:07

Afternoon. Overnight frost but it was sunny this morning only to cloud over at lunchtime.

Grin at IdiotKitty. Misty usually walks over me around 4 in the morning. I don’t mind as I’m usually awake. I had a dream about this last night, but it wasn’t her, it was a gorilla!! Where did that come from? It was terrifying. Confused

Hope everyone’s had a good day.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 14/02/2026 19:06

Evening wenches.

A gorilla Apricot?! Crikey. Makes my dream where my mum had wrapped a stairway spindle for each of us to indicate she was buying us all new staircases for Christmas look normal!

Also frosty this morning. Errands were run, jigsaw was ordered, lots of washing done, crochet ongoing.
