Evening wenches.

Agree that the why don’t you go from one shop to another to take advantage of best prices and offers for groceries, and also on different days is very good in theory, but it’s the time and as you say the fuel. Throw public transport into the mix and it gets even trickier.

I’m like you Apricot (and the other wenches I suspect) in not taking a price increase or difference lying down. Pain in the wotsit though.

Bitingly cold wind today so that can just jolly well stop.

Have watched curling and now it’s team speed skating which is actually making me feel a bit dizzy.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 18/02/2026 22:15

Evening all. Hurrah for the curling Grin

'king nora - the wind though!! It's coming at just the right angle to periodically blow the cat flap open, much to IdiotKitty's alarm (though he's asleep now).

LetUsPrey · 19/02/2026 06:16

Morning wenches.

That is quite the breeze Helen! Hope it’s subsided by now.

Dark etc. We were supposed to have sleet overnight but I can’t see any evidence so it must have all melted away.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 19/02/2026 09:10

Morning all. Rainy and windy, though the wind has swung round a bit and not battering into the cat flap anymore. Even IdiotKitty isn't idiotic enough to go out in this, so he's bouncing off the walls indoors. Hmm In fact I've just paused for 10 minute to put on TheSacrificialGlove and sit on the floor with him while he take his frustrations out on it. He's gone a bit beyond it in places, so some savlon is needed on my wrist, but ho hum.

Today we have a family half-term outing - fortunately indoors, so the rain doesn't matter.

Have a good day all!

ApricotCrush · 19/02/2026 16:21

Afternoon. Still very cold and windy. I think we had sleet here last night but it was dark so I didn't see it.

Grin at TheSacrificialGlove. Hope you enjoyed the family outing Helen.

Have a good evening all.

I have two supermarkets that I compare prices between but they are next to each other so that's very convenient. I have a very sad Friday evening routine where I look up the offers online and make a list Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 19/02/2026 19:05

That sounds like a very sensible routine Wicked

We are back from a family spa trip, which went well once all the manshapes (looking mostly at DH) were actually in the car and not faffing about in the house still. Hmm It's definitely a different vibe than going with friends. (Note to myself - go with friends next time!) Weather is consistently misty, gloomy and just thoroughly dreich. I heard in the news today about somewhere in Cornwall that hasn't had a dry day in over 50 days Shock

Currently watching the half pipe on TV - I gather than the women have been knocked out of the curling by USA's results Sad

LetUsPrey · 19/02/2026 19:25

Evening wenches.

Hope Savlon does the trick Helen following your playtime injuries and you don’t end up at a walk-in centre at a hospital like BestFriend did when one of her cats got carried away!

Yes, women’s curling didn’t result in a semi-final spot sadly. Caught a bit of the ski mountaineering. Bonkers.

Sounds like a very sensible way to spend a Friday evening Wicked. I do similar if I’m off the craft barn and I’m choosing between yarn brands 😄

Watching the men’s curling. The grandma of two (I think) of Team GB is there watching them, knitting away during a a pre-match interview. She wasn’t even looking what she was doing. What a woman!

LetUsPrey · 20/02/2026 06:31

Morning wenches.

So dark still but I have noticed it getting lighter a bit sooner and it’s very noticeably lighter at home time.

Brain hasn’t yet got out of bed obviously and I can’t think of anything else other than it’s Friday!

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 20/02/2026 09:45

Morning all. We've got watery sunshine coming through the clouds and it feels less chilly today, probably because the wind has dropped. It's definitely getting lighter here (because I'm waking up later for half term!) Grin Bit achy this morning from yesterday's pummelling, but not as bad as I thought I might be.

Today I have an email from one of my clients burbling on about a new project that I'm doing for them. This is the first I've heard of it Hmm Grin Best work out what they're on about really...

Have a good day all.

ApricotCrush · 20/02/2026 17:09

Afternoon. Cloudy and dull. It’s supposed to be 10 degrees but I went round the road earlier and it didn’t feel like it.

DH has just taken delivery of a light chainsaw which you can use with one hand after the disaster of the heavier one which he lost control of. 😧

Not at all sad WW, sounds perfectly normal to me.

Hope everyone’s had a good day.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 20/02/2026 21:13

Evening all. Rainy, rain, rain. And the wind has got up again.

Day off today, so I did a bit of freelancing (of course) but also staying PJs into the afternoon, and read a book. Then squirted anti-mould spray at some spots on the ceiling upstairs, which was partially successful. Very little else has been done.

Also watched the men's half pipe and winced a lot at people falling over.

Weekend tomorrow - hurrah!

LetUsPrey · 20/02/2026 22:00

Evening wenches.

Rain. So much rain. Definitely didn’t feel like 11°.

A one-handed chainsaw? As long as MrApricot doesn’t veer into “look I’m only using one hand!” territory. I’m sure he’ll be jolly sensible.

That sounds like a mostly very good day Helen.

Work was very busy and now I’m very tired.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 20/02/2026 22:17

<pours Gin and Wine for LetUs, with Cake >

LetUsPrey · 21/02/2026 08:10

Morning wenches.

<wipes away cake crumbs>

Meeting BestFriend this morning and then running errands but I’ve loads to do before I leave the house. Should have got up earlier, even though I have been up for about 40 minutes.

<runs around not achieving much>

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/02/2026 12:56

Afternoon all. I had a lovely lie-in and then have been pootling about doing stuff. It's lovely outside so I'm going to head into the garden and do tidying - DH was grumbling about the state of the front garden. I'll update if I find any stray HBFs snoozing under the fallen leaves which have piled up in the wind. Grin But I think it's going to be more a case of digging up brambles and doing last minute lopping.

FancyFancy · 21/02/2026 14:07

Afternoon. Has been a busy work week and then DSis and BIL were back here Thursday night. They went home yesterday evening, so it all feels rather quiet now. There have been various boiler shenanigans - the work on Thursday worked for a bit but not yesterday, so a call back was needed. Hoping it's all ok now. The cats, especially TCFNAC, seemed very freaked out by something yesterday, not helped by Floof being a little shit stirrer, hoping he will relax now things are back to normal. Just in time to be spooked all over again as it's vaccinations day on Monday 🙄

Agree with all wenches about the nuisance value of endless shopping around - let's be honest, that's why supermarkets are so dominant, as we all like doing as much shopping as possible under one roof!

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/02/2026 16:22

I have gardened. Sadly, no hibernating HBFs were found, but brambles and bamboo were dug up (endless job) and the buddleja got a haircut. I've seen those one-handed chainsaws Apricot and pondered! Now I am on the sofa with a hot chocolate, and the massage machine working on my neck. Just watched the men's speed skating being won by a canny older skater. We're waiting to see if the women are a bit more on the ball! (Yep - they're not letting anyone make a break!) Also, it seems very confusing with points at different parts of the race. Confused

There is talk of going out and being sporting this evening Hmm I'm not convinced by will probably go.

What a pain re. your boiler Fancy - fingers crossed it's all fixed now! <cbf> at Floof for being a little sod.

Hope that LetUs and Wicked have had a good day.

ApricotCrush · 21/02/2026 17:15

Afternoon. I don't know where the promised lovely warm day went to, but it's been raining since lunchtime.

That's annoying about your boiler Fancy, hope it's sorted now.

We've finished The White Princess and will move onto The Spanish Princess.

Hope everyone's had a good day.

LetUsPrey · 21/02/2026 20:12

Evening wenches.

Lovely chat with BestFriend this morning and then errands were run.

Fingers crossed boiler behaves itself from now on Fancy.

Neck massager sounds like something I need Helen.

We also had rather nice weather this morning to the point that I was thinking I might get the washing line out. Rained all afternoon though.

Watching the curling which is far too tense for my liking.

LetUsPrey · 22/02/2026 07:01

Morning wenches.

Awake early and couldn’t get back to sleep so there’s a wash on and I’ve finished the ironing.

Usual Sunday today with added DS1 and his girlfriend which will be lovely.

Have great days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/02/2026 08:32

Morning all. That's very productive of your LetUs - bit of a bugger about not being able to get back to sleep though Sad. We're back to rain and cloud here, so plans for the day will involve getting more wood in for the burner and staying undercover.

I'm suitably achy after last night's SportingActivity, which was hard work but fun. And I'm a bit better already for having got up and moved about. Though I may go and slob back in bed again now!

FancyFancy · 22/02/2026 12:13

Afternoon
Blimey letus that's productive!

Was raining here too, think it's stopped now so am trying to summon the enthusiasm to do a bit of tidying in the garden. Also Floof needs grooming as I keep finding more small matts - vet could shave any persistent ones tomorrow if needed. He dislikes me combing them out, so I try to tease them out by hand - works quite well for most of them. Had the same issue this time last year, so clearly need to up my game each new year until the winter coat gets shed all over my rugs

ApricotCrush · 22/02/2026 16:49

Afternoon. Quite a nice day with some sun but the wind is still chilly. Nothing much done here. DS came round this afternoon with the kids which was nice.

Gosh yes, LetUs that is impressive.

I used to find grooming DD’s cat and getting the matting out very therapeutic Fancy. She would put up with it for about twenty minutes and then clear off. It used to take me days to do it all because I didn’t want to stress her. Misty hates being groomed but fortunately she doesn’t get matted.

Have a good evening all.

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/02/2026 18:15

Evening all - Oh yes I rememebr the 'Buffy grooming' posts. Fortunately none of mine have ever needed it.

The weather turned nice here, so after the half-pipe finished I ended up in the garden digging up brambles and ground elder all day. I'm a bit broken, and probably have a headache pending. But the brambles are all dug up and on the bonfire. Tonight should involve a long soak in the bath, if I can winch myself off the sofa.

IdiotKitty is the happiest cat - all curled up asleep on our bed, absolutely blotto - awww Smile

Hope that LetUs has had a lovely day with DS1 visiting. In a miraculous development here, DS is doing homework without prompting. This either means he's left too much until the last minute (due tomorrow), or he's getting it out of the way before tea so we can watch a film.
