Evening wenches.

Rain during the day, sleet at home time for added fun.

NC and I have been given another large and complicated task to deal with. It can keep the one we’re still doing company.

Hope you found something to tempt WobblyCat Helen.

Oooo day off Fancy! Lovely.

I think basically everyone is related to everyone else Apricot with the occasional new blood. That’s my approach anyway.

Winter Olympics underway so we’ve got the curling on. I’ve a vague idea of what’s happening.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 05/02/2026 20:19

Evening all. We have finished watching Fallout, and now watching the Big Air qualifying in the Olympics - they're all completely bonkers.

Hurrah for a day off Fancy - are you doing anything nice? Other than just 'not working'.

White Queen/Princess is War of the Roses, yes? There used to be boardgame where you played as different characters to put whoever you wanted on the throne. Kingmaker - that was it. Good old Warwick. I think it was 1066 and All That desribed him as 'fell off his horse and was very badly killed'. Or it might have been the Very Bloody History of Britain without the Boring Bits, which may have been a precursor to Horrible Histories. (Behold me blethering a stream of conciousness at you!)

The car came back from the garage after a painful bill to sort out the brakes, which were full of crap from living down a farm track Sad Maye I should wash the wheels down occasionally. Confused

LetUsPrey · 06/02/2026 07:23

Morning wenches.

That’s the ones Helen. I’m for York, no Lancaster, no York! Wait, whose side am I supposed to be on? Glad car was sorted.

I think it’s raining. Put a wash on at 7 which gives me time to put it on the heated drier before I leave. Set it going, went upstairs to get dried after shower and dressed etc. Cam downstairs and it’s saying there’s a minute longer left than when I started it. Fucksake.

Anyway Friday so there’s that. Enjoy your day Fancy.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 06/02/2026 07:31

Morning all. Daaaark. Raaaaiiinnnn. I did not want to get up this morning, though I'm not sure why I'm so tired - I don't think I had a later-than-usual night.

Today will involve more spreadsheets and reconciliations. Be still my beating heart Hmm

Have a good day all.

ApricotCrush · 06/02/2026 17:07

Afternoon. Still more raaaaaaaaiinn. Very depressing. Also, no golf. 😩 DH has been doing his car insurance which has been driving him and me mad.

Hope Fancy has enjoyed her day off.

Have a good evening all.

LetUsPrey · 06/02/2026 20:38

Evening wenches.

Also raaaaiiiinnnnn. Hasn’t stopped all day. Work was manic and shite but it’s so lovely to see that others have plenty of time to float about the office socialising.

No golf?! Thoughts and prayers Apricot.

DH has been off today. To be fair, he’s been very busy but honestly I don’t need to hear about all of it, some of it more than once.

Going to have a drink and then early night.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 06/02/2026 21:43

Evening all. Also Raaaaaaaaaain. All day.

My car had a lovely time at the garage yesterday, having the rear brakes sorted. Such a lovely time that it's gone back there for a weekend sleepover because one of the front brakes decide to start binding on the way to the college bus this morning. F.F.S. I had to get DH to text my AA membership number to me because I didn't take my purse, which also meant I had reason to be grateful for my emergency money in the car, which meant I could get a hot chocolate while I waited for the AA to make sure I was safe to limp it back there.

That was my day - car issues and then playing catch-up at work all day.

Sympathies to Apricot and LetUs on DHs being underfoot today.

Hope that Fancy has had a fun/chilled day off and Wicked isn't snowed in!

LetUsPrey · 07/02/2026 07:18

Morning wenches.

Oh crikey Helen, that sounds rather stressful. Hope it’s a relatively inexpensive fix (never is though).

Lots of tidying today as MadNotRealAunties are visiting so we’re having people round for tea.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 07/02/2026 10:01

Morning all. Guess who forgot that I needed to go out today (I have managed to blag a lift with someone else). It is unexpectedly lovely and sunny at the moment - lots of blue sky, though cold still.

Have a lovely day all.

ApricotCrush · 07/02/2026 16:34

Afternoon. Rain, then no rain long enough for me to do a top-up food shop and go a walk round the road, then rain again.

We've had another annoying day trying to buy a new battery for my car. Amazon says the one we bought before won't fit my car. It does, but is no longer available. The ones it says will fit my car won't because they're too big. We've taken a leap of faith and have fingers crossed the one we've ordered will fit.

Oh Helen how sressful. I dread something like that happening. My first thought would be 'where's DH?'

Have a lovely MadHattersNotRealAunties tea party LetUs.

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 07/02/2026 19:46

Evening all. Good lord Apricot - what a faff Sad I hope the battery fits!

The nice blue skies and sunshine turned, predictably, into rain and gloom. Ho hum.

Hope that everyone's had a good day - love the MadHattersNotRealAunties tea party

LetUsPrey · 07/02/2026 19:55

Evening wenches.

Rasaiiiinnnnnn.

Absolutely love MadHattersNotRealAunties tea party. (My crossing out hasn’t worked - no matter 😄), We’ve had a super afternoon and evening. Quite tired now though.

Everything crossed re battery Apricot.

Watching more Winter Olympics. There’s quite a high percentage of nutters flinging themselves around on skis and snowboards 😄

LetUsPrey · 08/02/2026 08:32

Morning wenches.

It’s stopped raining!

Usual sort of Sunday. Ironing’s done. No LovelyMIL today though.

Might do bath’n’book later.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 08/02/2026 09:25

Morning wenches. As above - usual Sunday, with added cat vom Hmm and lots of Winter Olympics, waving pom-poms for Lindsay Vonn.

We have high cloud and week sunshine. Oh, and downstairs reeks because DH knocked over a bottle of insect repellent and the bottle broke on the floor last night. I've opened the windows again to carry on airing the house.

The usual washing is on, and then I need to wash the rug that KillerKitty vommed on. <sigh>

FancyFancy · 08/02/2026 09:27

Morning, am away for the weekend and having a fab time. Driving back today and hoping to avoid any car dramas - yikes to recent wench experiences!

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 08/02/2026 13:53

Hurrah for fab weekends away, and fingers crossed for an uneventful trip back Fancy!

Gutting in the skiing - I had just said "Tbh, I just want her to get down safely", and she crashed Sad. Snowboard slalom has been fun though.

ApricotCrush · 08/02/2026 17:05

Afternoon. No rain today. We've just been a walk around the area and eyed up bungalows that we might be interested in if they come onto the market. We love our house and would be gutted to let it go, but they do say you should downsize while you're reasonably fit. Hmm

Yay for lovely weekend, but boo for cat vom and spilt insect repellent.

Have good evenings all.

OP posts:
FancyFancy · 08/02/2026 18:56

Uneventful journey home thankfully, and TCFNAC was very chatty on my return. The friend I stayed with has cats, it was like home from home as one decided to snuggle up with me both nights I was there.

Do you have the gift of the Commentator's Curse Helen?

That would be a big decisionapricot, but I can see the logic - wish my parents had moved years ago and have said to my DC to remind me of this in years to come 🤣 And a bungalow would at least mean that any roofs are closer to the ground which will be a relief when MrA climbs up to adjust the aerial!

LetUsPrey · 08/02/2026 19:04

Evening wenches.

A weekend spent with a friend and cats then home safely to cats sound pretty wonderful Fancy.

I was hoping she’d just get down safely too Helen but 😔. Am enjoying lots of different events about which I know very little 😄

DSis and her DH moved last year and have been bearing in mind trying to future proof the house with any renovations they’re doing.

Didn’t do bath’n’book after all. Have been getting a bit cross at a crochet pattern that isn’t particularly well written so there’s been a bit of guessing going on.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 08/02/2026 22:23

That sounds like a lovely weekend Fancy, and I had exactly the same thought as you about Apricot moving to a bungalow - less height for MrA to fall from!

Downsizing while you can is a very sensible plan though, or at least a biiiig de-cluttering effort. Is it 'Swedish death cleaning' or something - when people go though their house getting it into a state that they'd be happy to leave it in?

I managed to get a bit or gardening done in between olympic stuff.

WobblyCat, sad to say, is not doing at all well. She's barely eating anything, despite me tempting her with 'prime cuts in gravy' sort of thing. This pleases IdiotKitty immensely of course because he gets her leftovers Hmm

LetUsPrey · 09/02/2026 06:19

Morning wenches.

Oh Helen, poor WobblyCat <squidge>

LovelyMIL occasionally says she’s tidying out the garage for example but she can’t really do it in any properly organised kind of way.

Still very dark here but definitely lighter of an evening.

DS2 has just remembered he’s not bought his weekly bus ticket. Tip top.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 09/02/2026 07:46

Morning all. Raaaaaaaaaaain here, though not too cloudy to the east, so there was a nice rosy glow in the sky for a while, until the clouds came down, and now it's all grey and gloomy. IdiotKitty is very unimpressed, ,and rolling about on the floor killing the bits of paper that he shredded last night because he's boooooored (and I threw his back-end-of-a-rat into the hedge this morning - the entrail were very nicely laid out for me though - I forsee... rain? death-to-rats?)

In fantastic day-length news, I saw yesterday that the sun won't set before 5pm again now until October - hurrah!

Argh re. DS ticket LetUs - we go for monthly or termly tickets here - depending on what works out as cheapest/has an offer on. I have forgotten before now, and had an irate call from DS to say that his ticket has run out so he couldn't get on the bus. Not that he didn't have a wallet with him, so he could have just paid for the trip Hmm Hurrah for the app on my phone and gifting tickets via WhatsApp!

Have a good day all.

ApricotCrush · 09/02/2026 16:37

Afternoon. Some rain this morning but cloudy and grey since.

Poor WobblyCat. Sad Are her teeth alright? The vet said if Misty stopped eating she should have her teeth checked as they’re a bit dodgy.

DH said the same about buying a bungalow, it would be easier to paint. He was painting right up at the apex of the house last year and said he’d never do it again.

I’ve been trying to do the Swedish death cleaning for years, mostly unsuccessfully. Every drawer, cupboard and wardrobe in this house is full and although I’ve got rid of a lot to charity shops and eBay, inheriting from our parents only added to it, and then there’s stuff the DC left behind and haven’t got room for in their houses. I’ve got to start being ruthless but then DH will say ‘you can’t get rid of that, it’s sentimental/might come in useful etc.’ <sigh>

Yay for sunset being after 5 o’clock. I remember seeing similar in October, but the other way round.

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 09/02/2026 19:45

Evening. Wobbly is still crunching at the occasional biscuit, so I think her teeth are fine. Her breathing's very laboured too, but we'll see what the vet says tomorrow.

Olympics results have been a bit frustrating today. Ho hum. And I've had a lurking headache for a lot of the day which is de-lurking. Arse.

LetUsPrey · 10/02/2026 06:24

Morning wenches.

Urgh at headache Helen. Hope it went away quickly. Good luck for today’s vet visit.

We’ve got some of DS1’s stuff here. Not much tbh but I keep meaning to get it all boxed up and tidy.

Work was very busy. Also ho hum at Olympics. DS2 normally has a monthly ticket but he’s got two weeks off soon (and probably won’t go far when he’s off) so it was pointless getting one. Be more organised in future Helen for MiniHelen’s travel plans 😄

Think there’s rain due today but we’re very fortunate not to have any flooding.

Have lovely days wenches.
