Afternoon/evening. Still cloudy and dampish, no sun today. Sleepover was fine, he’s no trouble. He takes the boot for his injured ankle off to sleep, so we were able to have a look at it. Very swollen and bruised, but he’s pretty chilled about it.

Well done on the ebaying and freecycling Fancy. I’m going to have a good sort out tomorrow she says. Hope you’re feeling better.

We waded through Seven Dials WW but it was heavy-going. <chucks some chicken chow mein in your direction>

Hope everyone’s had a good day.

Evening wenches.

Flipping heck Wicked have a bit of a rest! And definitely stay indoors because -15!!!!

<makes pitcher of Pimms> help yourselves wenches.

Nothing exciting (thank goodness) today.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 01/02/2026 21:40

Evening all. Today has been a headache day. I did a bit of gardening, but ended up in bed all afternoon. Woe is me, etc. Fucking stupid headaches. It's retreated for now. Can't decided whether to drug up for overnight and hope that kills it off completely, or just keep my fingers crossed that it goes overnight anyway.

There wasn't any whipped cream Wicked - it was 80% dark and frothy - yum! You've been busy this weekend, and brrr!

Hope Fancy is feeling better and everyone's had a good day.

LetUsPrey · 02/02/2026 06:29

Morning wenches.

Rubbish sleep due to waking up with horrid indigestion, as opposed to that nice indigestion obviously, which wouldn’t go away. it’s still lingering.

<gentle squidge> for Helen re extra horrid headache. Everything crossed for you that it has indeed fucked off and doesn’t reappear this morning.

Darker now than it was at 5. So weird.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 02/02/2026 09:02

Morning. Woke up at 6am and rolled back over for another half hour. The headache is... not active.

DS was a pain the arse yesterday about homework, so was up at 1am trying to get it finished for today. I'm tiiiiiiiiiired <whinge>

<pours gaviscon for LetUs>
<crawls back to hayloft for more sleep>

ApricotCrush · 02/02/2026 16:43

Afternoon. Very dismal day, no rain but no sun either. I’ve actually cleared some cupboards out in the kitchen, and chucked some stuff out. Oldest was an unopened packet of cornflower from 2010 Blush from when I used to make gravy with Oxo cubes instead of granules.

Hope headache and indigestion have buggered off.

Have a good evening all.

Evening wenches.

<glares at MiniHelen> not acceptable, not at all. Hope heading remained inactive Helen.

It’s amazing what can be found lingering in the back of kitchen cupboards 😄

Indigestion more or less settled. Think I ate a bit too fast last night.

Making myself finish the small knitting project before I start another.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 02/02/2026 19:24

But that's only 16 years old Apricot - it would be fine! GrinWeather is, as you say, dismal. I vote we all just have a lock-in at the Tav until the days are longer and the sun appears. I have lit the fire and lined up Brew Wine Gin Cake Biscuit on the bar, so we should be fine. The HBFs are lined up ready to serve us <ylt/nlt as you prefer>.

Just had a report back from college which implies that DS is doing his best to crash and burn. F.M.L. We even have an email from one of his tutors which can be summarized as an unimpressed Hmm I feel that life may be slightly hellish while we try to fix this. #XboxAddiction #PhoneAddiction #NotInterestedInStudying

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 02/02/2026 22:10

(Ignore me while I howl in frustration. I'm sure we'll get there eventually. Though we might not end up quite where we expected! Hmm)

LetUsPrey · 03/02/2026 06:27

Morning wenches.

Oh Helen that sounds tough. Here’s hoping he pulls his finger out and realises things are getting fairly buggered up. <squidge> for you.

I agree with the idea of a lock in.

It’s so nice to be able to see the difference in it getting lighter, particularly leaving work.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 03/02/2026 12:57

Afternoon all. Urgh. Still dismal outside, but not quite as gloomy as yesterday. This morning has vanished in drafting/sending an email to college and getting advice and suggestions about revision apps which might suit DS better from a friend who does tutoring. Plus faffing about.

Now I'm just - urgh.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 03/02/2026 12:58

Me.

ApricotCrush · 03/02/2026 15:18

Afternoon. Rain, rain and more rain.

Lol Helen that just about sums it up. I feel the same. Sorry to hear about DS. Hopefully it's just a phase and he'll soon come out of it. Neither of our two were academically brilliant but they both found themselves and have good careers.

<joins the Tav lock-in>

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 03/02/2026 20:57

More dreary and miserable weather. Cloudy all day, turning to heavy drizzle.

<tops up the Tav fire>
<snoozes on the chaise>

LetUsPrey · 03/02/2026 21:40

Evening wenches.

Also very same Helen and Apricot.

Hope the suggested revision ideas do the trick. The stress is horrid though.

Busy today correcting mistakes made by higher ups.

Bloody cold this morning because of a very chilly wind, although not -15 cold. Think we’ve got sleet forecast tomorrow. Urgh.

FancyFancy · 03/02/2026 21:56

Evening. Same as everyone else - rain and more rain.

Glad that headaches and indigestion are easing, but think that a Tav lock in is a good idea - better safe than sorry.

<cwtches> Helen, situation with DS was a bit similar, but not as severe. So hard at that age as they can't be 'made' or helped to do stuff, it feels like you can only watch 😞 . Not sure I have any useful advice as I don't think I handled DS particularly brilliantly.

LetUsPrey · 04/02/2026 07:16

Morning wenches.

Bathroom visits and stupid dreams do not make for a restful night.

Short work day but dentist straight after work. Oh joy.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 04/02/2026 07:27

Morning wenches. Daaaamp, glooooooooom, crepuscular*

IdiotKitty is idioting, DS is still welded to his duvet, and the chickens need feeding. All the usual. WobblyCat very old and wobbly and not interested in eating.

In good news, DS initiated (i.e. got me to) work out a proper homework and revision timetable ahead of his meeting with tutors. He's yet to discuss seriously what revision is going to look like for him, but it's progress/good intentions.

Have a good day all.

  • silly word learnt from reading a book, which everyone reacted to by saying 'just say twilight you pretentious idiot
ApricotCrush · 04/02/2026 16:27

Afternoon. A better day with some sun this afternoon. I was a bit more productive and did a wash load and cleared some ironing that’s been hanging around for a while. Amazing what a bit of sun does.

Hope WobblyCat is alright, bit worrying that she doesn’t want to eat.

We’re watching The White Queen which LetUs reminded me of. I’m sure we watched it before but I don’t remember it. Probably a long time ago. Annoying adverts though, but they do give me enough time to look people up on IMdB. Hmm

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 04/02/2026 20:01

Evening all. We had a little bit of sun too! Not that I saw it, what with trying to fix SNAFUs of my own making <le sigh> I made one mistake, and then every attempt to fix it after that just made it get progressively worse! Blush
Not much happening apart from that. IdiotKitty has been wormed and is OUTRAGED! Grin

LetUsPrey · 04/02/2026 21:35

Evening wenches.

Aaaarrrggghhhh re work.

Dentist went well and then made flapjacks when I got home.

Crepuscular - I like learning new words.

Hope WobblyCat is okay. 😁 at IdiotKitty’s outrage.

White Princess is available too Apricot, and there’s also a couple of others after that but I can’t remember what they’re called. Can’t check right now because we’re watching Silent Witness.

LetUsPrey · 05/02/2026 06:18

Morning wenches.

Still so dark of a morning urgh.

Have booked in with physio in a few weeks. So I can feel better for a day or so because of her expertise and I can make it all rubbish again by not doing my exercises. What a nelly.

Not sure what the weather’s doing. Did check the forecast but can’t remember what it said 🤦🏻‍♀️. It’s to be hoped my brain gets in gear by the time I set off for work.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 05/02/2026 07:36

Morning all. Dark and windy outside. I don't know what the forecast is, but there's no rain at the moment. Today's excitement is a trip to the garage for my car, which will involve DH having to get out of bed and bring me home. Also, there needs to be a shopping trip to see if we can find food to tempt WobblyCat, and buy milk.

FancyFancy · 05/02/2026 14:10

Afternoon
No need to look at the forecast helen rain, rain & more rain!

Am at work, there is too much work <sighs> am off work tomorrow so the predictable rush ahead of that.....

ApricotCrush · 05/02/2026 16:33

Afternoon. Rain all day here too. Very depressing

Grin at outraged IdiotKitty. I did know crepuscular. It’s used to describe cats hunting at dawn and dusk. It’s why indoor cats can have the zoomies at those times, they think they’re hunting.

We’ll look for White Princess when we’ve finished this one. I’m giving myself a history lesson on Wikipedia. It’s difficult to keep up with who was related to whom. They were certainly very fascinating (and brutal) times.

Hope everyone’s had a good day.
