Afternoon. Nice day, cloudy but brighter than yesterday and it’s still quite light.

I hate the QR codes Helen. Vinted don’t let you print a label and I’m always scared the QR code won’t work. The iPad is behaving itself, more or less. Hope the training course was good.

Yay for finished roadworks LetUs.

Have a good evening all.

Evening all. Rain and cloud and wind here. Bleurgh.

Training course was good though, I picked up lots of handy hints and shortcuts, plus stuff I had no idea about. Also, traffic was ok - hurrah!

Can't think of anything interesting. Not much in the way of plans for the weekend, though I said I'd go to SportingActivity tomorrow night. <side-eyes at the weather> And I still need to carry on with moving plants before they start growing for spring. <more side-eyes at the weather> There's also some mouldy patches on a ceiling upstairs that need to be zapped. The fun is endless Hmm

FancyFancy · 23/01/2026 21:26

Yay for finished roadworks!!! And yay for Friday Grin
Have mostly been to work & loafed around at home so far this week, still feeling slightly below par, so looking forward to the weekend & a chance to rest. Am out for dinner with a friend tomorrow - bit of a last minute plan so feels like a bonus! And it is starting to get noticeably lighter in the afternoons <ignores this afternoon and the torrential rain...>

LetUsPrey · 24/01/2026 08:14

Morning wenches.

That sounds a very productive day Helen.

I’m looking forward to the weather improving even if it’s just in terms of warming up a bit. Don’t feel like being very productive when it’s chilly. Noticeably lighter at 4.30 yesterday when NC was leaving the office. We were both quite excited about this 😄

Love when a last minute plan feels like a bonus! Enjoy your evening out Fancy.

Not much planned here either. Might get a knitting project finished today and then I’ll have to try to get all my patterns and projects organised. Again.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 24/01/2026 13:58

Afternoon all. I have done exercise and domestic chores - unexpected sun means I have washing out on the line and aired the duvet. I should be in the garden but here I am wasting time online. (And searing at this old laptop who I can't really blame for constant spelling mistakes (all the right letters, not necessarily in the right order), but I can blame the keyboard for not noticing when I've actually hit a key.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 24/01/2026 17:05

Nothing much going on here. Lots and lofts of snow. Visited mum today and we did some shopping. Lot of driving so quite tired.
Had dinner with friends during the week, thaibuffé wich was very tasty. Hope all wenches has a good day 😀

ApricotCrush · 24/01/2026 17:06

Afternoon. Cloudy and damp here. I walked round the road this morning and the wind was chilly. I did the bedding yesterday but it went in the tumbler, I don’t think it would have done anything outside.

We’re also going out for a short-notice meal with friends tonight. Same village as the roadworks which took us miles out of our way last time, but a different restaurant. Fingers crossed the roadworks haven’t moved.

Have a pleasant evening all.

Edit: <waves to WW, we were typing at the same time>

<waves back to Apes> Smile

LetUsPrey · 24/01/2026 20:50

Evening wenches.

Finished the knitting project - hurrah! Usual Saturday other than that.

Here’s to a lovely meal out Apricot and a straightforward journey.

<glares at Helen’s keyboard> I’m sure that’ll do the trick.

That does sound fun but tiring Wicked. Put your feet up and have a rest.

Would quite like a bath this evening but I’m picking up DH later so I’ll give it a miss.

LetUsPrey · 25/01/2026 08:23

Morning wenches.

Ironing done. Hopefully a usual Sunday ahead. Didn’t get round to reorganising knitting and crochet stuff so I’ll do that today. Do try to not get overexcited on my behalf 😄

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 25/01/2026 09:25

Morning all. Bit tired.

I did get into the garden yesterday, then went out doing sporting stuff (where I found lots of inventive ways to hit the deck, but also had fun) followed by a bath when we got home. I think we're planning a quiet day today (i.e. more gardening), but might also go out to return a phone that DH didn't like once it was out of the box.

Hope that Apricot had nice meal last night and Wicked is building lots of snowmen/making snow angels. Have a good day all.

ApricotCrush · 25/01/2026 17:21

Afternoon. Rain this morning and very grey this afternoon.

Yes, we had a nice evening. The road closure was still the same. Apparently there has been a burst water main which has caused the tarmac on a bridge over a canal to collapse. The water company won’t repair it until the road is repaired and neither the council nor the Canal Trust will take responsibility, so it’s an impasse. It’s all a bit rough on the local community who are being hugely inconvenienced.

Hope everyone’s had a nice day and done what they set out to do.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 25/01/2026 19:08

Evening all. I have stayed home all day, and gardened. The highlight was successfully lighting the bonfire to deal with three barrow loads of pruned roses - a madly out of control rambling thing which DH has been complaining about for several years. Most of it seems to be dead wood these days (hidden behind new growth) and there's plenty more to come out still. If I can be bothered. Also burnt the hedge cuttings that have been piled up on the lawn for a few weeks. Burn baby, burn! Grin (Followed by a long shower, since I smelt like a bonfire too.)

What a pain re. the bridge Apricot Sad

Hope everywench has had a good day.

LetUsPrey · 25/01/2026 21:41

Evening wenches.

Good grief Apricot, they all sound like they need their heads banging together. Pleased the meal was good though.

Totally picturing you leaping around the bonfire Helen shouting “I am the god(dess) of hellfire!” as you throw more bits of pruned rose bush onto it.

Patterns haven’t been organised. Started some very quick projects though.

Am cross with the BBC who showed a trailer for a programme we’ve only just started watching but is quite a few episodes in and there was a massive fucking spoiler in it. (Unless it’s a flashback somehow which I’ve only just thought of).

Watched Great Pottery Throwdown which was excellent.

FancyFancy · 25/01/2026 23:19

mmm thai food....<drools>

God that must be annoying about the road closure apricot, glad you had good evening though.

Grin letus - please tell me you did this helen? Preferably dressed as a witch or something

Have just started series 2 of The Night Manager. Slightly thrown by spotting the drippy vicar from This Country in a serious role.

LetUsPrey · 26/01/2026 06:42

Morning wenches.

Been awake on and off from 3.30 and properly awake from just after 5. How is it darker now at just after 6.30 than it was at 6? It’s all very Monday.

We’ve started the Lynley remake. Good so far. The new series of Astrid: Murder in Paris started on Friday. Finished episode one but then found out I’ve got to wait a week for the next one! What’s that about? 😄

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/01/2026 11:45

Morning all.

LOL. I haven't actually looked to see how far the fire burnt down after I left it. I was there ages pushing in unburnt bits from the side as it progressed, so I was more 'tired person leaning on the shaft of wisdom' (aka the prodding stick (nae)), than I was 'Disco inferno' or 'Goddess of Hellfire'. My outfit was also very not witchy. Soz. Just bog standard scruffy gardening clothes (they've just gone through the watching machine.

DH made us watch '2001: A Space Oddesy' last night. I don't think I'd ever seen it all, and I highly recommend not bothering - or using fast forward a lot. I'm sure it was very ground-breaking at the time, but it needs a good edit.
No-one needs that amount of 'here's something floating through space/landing on a pad' shots. Also, don't touch it if you have anything resembling a headache to start with - the soundtrack and the light effects at the end would be bad enough on their own. Combined was awful. (whinge, whinge, grumble) there was probably a very good 1 hour mini-film in there.

Fingers crossed that the spoiler wasn't a spoiler LetUs - do you remember the consternation and guessing caused by the Musketeers episode trailer with the coffin being lowered into the ground? Grin

I have a new customer who has sent me the contract from hell. I need to try and read it again to understand what it's trying to do. urgh.

ApricotCrush · 26/01/2026 17:18

Evening. Another grey, miserable day, dark now. I did a Sainsbury shop this morning and then walked round the road and it was very chilly.

I had a terrible night last night too LetUs. I think I only slept for about 4 hours in total. I’m always terribly anxious in the night, for no reason.

Grin at Helen as Goddess of Hellfire. Yes, I do remember the coffin spoiler in TM. Hmm

What do you think of The Night Manager Fancy?

We’ve been watching The Seven Dials. Very strange. I’ll look for Lynley for tonight.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 26/01/2026 20:10

Evening wenches.

Was discussing the spoiler/not spoiler with NC as she’s watched more episodes than I have. Yes, it’s a sodding spoiler. Nice one BBC 😡. That coffin one pales in comparison 😄

Well in my head Helen, and probably for other wenches too, you were very much Goddess of Hellfire 😄

<squirts lavender spray in Apricot’s room>

Haven’t seen that film Helen and won’t bother with it.

Have had The White Queen on as knitting/crochet accompaniment as I’ve seen it before. There’s a few similar series available so I’ll work my way through them. It’s very “bums and boobs and bonking”.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/01/2026 20:51

Evening all.

I haven't started watching Night Manager 2 yet, but feel I don't need to since BBC1 on Facebook seems to be showing me enough highlights spoilers for me to get the general gist of things Hmm

Bad night's sleep for everyone can just get in the bin. There's no excuse for it. <glares at everyone's brains>

FancyFancy · 26/01/2026 21:20

My usual thing for when my brain won't shut down is the World Service on R4, but then they ended Business Matters which had a calm and chummy vibe and Trump is doing his best to make us all anxious, so that doesn't work as well anymore <sighs>

Am only 1 episode in at the moment apricot, found it interesting, but not gripping, but I suppose the story has barely got going. How about you? There was a scene with Hidders and a cat. A few more of those may entice my ovaries out of retirement 🤣

It's no use Helen, letus and I have a clear mental picture of you as High Priestess of the Flaming Garden Bonfire 😁

LetUsPrey · 27/01/2026 06:28

Morning wenches.

Fecking bored of not sleeping past 5am.

There were several moments in NM2 when I was saying “but who’s looking after the cat?” because priorities.

Throwing it down this morning and windy. Luckily there’s bus shelters at DS2’s first and third bus stops, middle one is a bus station so that’s also good.

I’m off to have lots of tea and get myself properly awake for the day.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/01/2026 08:06

Morning all. Daaaaaark and windy. But no rain yet. I haven't actually looked at the forecast, but my mind measurer says it's def. windy. (The pot has just been blown over again as I type.)

DS has decided to get the later bus. I found this out after getting ready to go, and going upstairs to chivvy him along. I did get a 'sorry' when I pointed out that he could have told me this earlier, so I suppose that's something.

<cwtch> for LetUs, and caffiene.

The BBC has poor priorities - there have been no trailers with Hidders and a cat. FFS BBC, get a grip. I'll just have to watch it then.

ApricotCrush · 27/01/2026 16:18

Afternoon. A bit windy and some rain, but The Storm hasn’t reached us.

Re The Night Manager, we watched ep 2 and haven’t bothered since. It seems rather disjointed and confusing. It always bothers me when I see cats, or any other animal for that matter, in dramas. It never ends well. Don’t let me put anybody off though, it may just be me.

Hope everyone’s had a good day.

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/5482249-to-wonder-what-is-wrong-with-me-why-cant-i-get-anything-done

It's always nice reading about someone else who feels like they ought to be doing stuff. Like, I ought to have done the shopping today, and forgot. (Though I have been working). So now I have to go out and buy exciting things like bread and milk. <sigh>

Laters all.
