Morning wenches.

Quite late up today. Have usually finished the ironing by now and got a wash on but I’ve done nothing and urgh I’m all behind with the day.

Very inconsiderate of WobblyCat to move Helen.

Can’t imagine DH teaching either of the DC to drive.

More or less usual Sunday ahead, once I get on with things.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 18/01/2026 12:39

Afternoon all. Today is a repeat of yesterday, with additional washing and shopping for good measure. So I doubt I'll get much done in the garden. It's lovely and sunny though, after a very misty start.

Have a good day all.

ApricotCrush · 18/01/2026 16:41

Afternoon. Rain all day here. I hate late starts, you’re behind with everything all day. Having said that I’ve done sod all all day and feel like I’ve wasted it but it doesn’t really matter.

Have a good evening all.

Glad someone else has done sod all today, makes me feel less bad! I have finished series 1 of The Night Manager, so I can move onto series 2, but that's pretty much it really 😁

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 18/01/2026 22:13

Evening. Not much done today in the end. Didn't do any gardening, though did buy a new obelisk thingy for a dwarf clematis to scramble up. No actual gardening was done, and the two loads of washing was over-optimistic - the second load didn't even get out on the line so the house is draped in damp washing. Scintillating stuff! Hmm

Nothing wrong with a lazy day though.

LetUsPrey · 19/01/2026 06:08

Morning wenches.

Nothing at all wrong with a day of doing sod all. Important to recharge and all that.

I mostly ironed and knitted and crocheted yesterday. DH wanted to start series 2 Night Manager last night but my brain said probably best not.

Monday appears to have rolled around very quickly again.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 19/01/2026 07:59

Morning all. Sunrise was nicely pretty in shade of pink and peach. Looks like it will be a red one when the sun gets over the horizon.

We haven't started Night Manager yet either. DH wants to watch a Game of Thrones spin off that starts tonight. There'd also a double-bill of The Souvenir I&II on BBC2 overnight (TB as male lead). Which I've already seen, so won't bother with again. #BadFan

No plans today other than work, gardening, cleaning out the chicken coop. All the fun!

ApricotCrush · 19/01/2026 16:22

Afternoon. Foggy first thing and gloomy ever since. I went to town with DD this morning for a mooch around. We mainly moaned about the lack of lovely shops we used to have. M&S is now a temporary homeware shop which we weren't very impressed with. Cheapo stuff at expensive prices.

I've had an update on the iPad and I don't like it. My keyboard now has very tiny letters and all the app icons look different. I had to set the whole thing up again with passwords and answer ridiculous questions. Why can't they leave stuff alone? Angry

We're still watching Grantchester.

Hope everyone's had a good day.

Evening all. More driving with DS today. He did fine and also avoided squashing the roadkill. Speaking of which, the resident muntjac in busy pruning the garden Hmm Very little has happened, and it has mostly grey and dank here as well.

Agreed Apricot, unwanted updates are shite and the work of the devil. Angry
Hope that everyone has had a good day, and NC is back and firing on all cylinders to help LetUs with stupid/annoying work.

FancyFancy · 19/01/2026 22:42

Updates really are the work of the devil Angry

All the muntjac must be with you helen - haven't seen much sign of them here.

Have had another unproductive day - feeling a bit meh. TCFNAC is snoozing next to me which is very nice though, especially now he's dried off after being outside. DSis has just adopted 2 kittens so I've also had the pleasure of videos of them - very cute Grin

LetUsPrey · 20/01/2026 06:26

Morning wenches.

Squeeee at kittens Fancy!

Having a muntjac in your garden sounds quite sweet to me but I suppose it depends on how much gardening they do and what kind.

NC and I have completed part of the first part of the big task so whoop for that.

I can often be heard muttering “where are the nice shops?” as I walk through town Apricot.

It seems lighter when I go to the bathroom around 5 than it is an hour or so later? Have definitely noticed it being lighter getting towards 5pm though!

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 20/01/2026 08:53

Morning all. Tiiiiiired. I swear it was darker dropping DS for the bus than it was when we left the house. Apparently we had Northern Lights last night - why can't we have a government alert to set off a siren on your phone for that sort of nice thing?

The Muntjac approach to gardening is "Did you like that plant? I'm going to prune it with my teeth. To the ground." That (and the chickens) is why chicken wire and similar fencing feature heavily in my garden. Sad On the plus side, it keeps the grass down over winter when it's warm enough to keep growing.

Squee to kittens - especially when they're causing chaos in someone else's house! Grin
Have a good day all.
<sends anti-meh treatment to wenches> This would be HBFs, but my deceased laptop is still not replaced, so I have no access to pictures from here.

ApricotCrush · 20/01/2026 16:58

Afternoon. Gloomy day here and it's gone windy. I did a Lidl shop this morning and then went a walk round the road and it was quite chilly.

It does seem lovely to have muntjac in the garden, but not if they're being destructive, which is I suppose is inevitable. I believe there is a family of them in a field up the road, but I've never seen one.

Also squeee at kittens!

Evening wenches.

Am tired to my bones. Mammoth task at work continues, punctuated with urgent for today needs to be done by lunchtime other task.

Clearly the muntjac needs to watch a few episodes of Gardeners World so it does the pruning correctly.

Flipping windy walking to the car at home time.

Really must get an early night and then hopefully sleep.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 20/01/2026 21:26

Evening all.

I have a lull at work so spent much of the afternoon in the garden moving stuff about - bulbs coming up in the middle of a path being shunted off to under a tree, self-seeded elder saplings moving into the hedge. And digging out nettle roots. Always digging up the nettles... Oh and I gave the chickens clean bedding. Happy chickens. (I say that, they didn't give much sign of giving a monkeys).

LetUsPrey · 21/01/2026 07:22

Morning wenches.

I bet the chickens gave little chicken sighs when they got into their nice clean bedding just like we do 😄

Daaaarrrkkk but it’s good to see a noticeable difference that it’s staying lighter for longer in the afternoons.

Short day so hurrah for that.

Have lovely days wenches.

ApricotCrush · 21/01/2026 16:48

Afternoon. Much rain this morning, just cloudy and dull now.

The three dots at the top of the iPad for split-screen/multitasking have gone since the update and Google is no help. I can reduce the size of a screen in settings but then have to go back to settings to get it to full size again. Everything is so bloody difficult. Angry

Hope everyone has had a good day.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 21/01/2026 20:04

Evening wenches.

Work was worky. Lots of rain which very kindly stopped just before I left for the day.

We’re starting series 2 of The Night Manager just now. Not really in the mood for it but I’ll give it a go.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/01/2026 20:45

Evening all.

Not quite sure how I ended up running so late this morning, but traffic was grim on top of that so I was late to the office. Miserable damp day, dark when I left for home (in more shit traffic) and I don't know what I've done to my hamstrings, but OMG they have gone on strike about something. It was either yesterday's exercise or the gardening, but they're never normally a problem so I'm a bit baffled. <hobbles piteously about, looking for sympathy from any passing HBF>

Sympathies on the continuing settings trauma Apricot Sad

DH has football on. FFS.

LetUsPrey · 22/01/2026 06:11

Morning wenches.

That sounds sore Helen 😔. Hope it’s better soon. And boooo to shitty traffic.

Dark etc. Counting down the days to the supposed end of the longstanding roadworks that sound have finished in November.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/01/2026 09:36

Morning all. Dry outside and high cloud, so it feels less gloomy than yesterday.

Nothing exciting happening here that I can think of.

Have a good day all.

ApricotCrush · 22/01/2026 16:42

Afternoon. Cloudy and dull with occasional showers.

Today’s moan: Pop-up on iPad from GP surgery, ‘message for you on app’. Open app, put in email and password. I spite of me ticking that I don’t want a security code, they send me one by text. Have to go and find my phone. Battery flat. Charge phone. Time has expired for code. Ask for another. Put into app. Message is about sick notes which I will never need. What a waste of time, when the message could have been sent by email. Angry

I am becoming a grumpy old woman! 🙄

Hope the hamstrings have improved Helen and traffic wasn’t too bad for LetUs.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/01/2026 19:56

Evening all.

LOL at grumpy Apricot - it's bloody frustrating having all the 2-factor authentication just to get to irrelevant messages though. The HMRC one drives me mad - 'tick this box and we'll remember you've logged in already for 2 weeks'. Yeah right. It never does so I have to jump through the hoops every time.

I don't know what I did today - nothing very productive. Lots of faffing about I think. More of the terrifying 'being driven by DS' (whose driving isn't terrifying, I'm just a rubbish passenger). Oh, and I went to return a parcel via Royal Mail by the sodding QR code wouldn't register on their scanner. FFS and that sort of irritated noise!

LetUsPrey · 23/01/2026 07:18

Morning wenches.

Nothing’s ever simple is it?

<cue trumpets and drumroll> the big roadworks have gone! Finished over a week early, well technically two months late, but early on the extended time. Can’t tell you how happy I was when I drove home and got to that stretch of road.

That was yesterday’s excitement. That and resisting the urge to tell people who should know better to stop being so fecking dim.

Right, on with the day - Friday hurrah!

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 23/01/2026 07:32

TFI Friday and all that. I have a training course which I'm quite looking forward too, though it does mean driving out to the venue rather than working from home. Friday traffic shouldn't be too bad though. Hopefully Confused

Hope everywench has a lovely day and Apricot's shitepad updates don't cause any more stress.
