<Sips hot chocolate> ☕

Kind of tired of the snow now Confused

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 06/01/2026 19:00

Evening. Also tired. There has been work and an exercise class (and far too much time mooching online). No more snow today, but rain is forecast overnight and also freezing temperatures, which isn't a great combination Confused

If I get my backside in gear I think I'll have a bath and early night. Or I might slump on the sofa and slouch up to bed. #apathetic

LetUsPrey · 07/01/2026 07:10

Morning wenches.

We seem to have wind and rain now, although the snow (what little there was) and ice are hopefully on their way out.

Perhaps MrApricot needs a variation of one of That’s Not My… children’s books, That’s Not Your Trolley.

I might have caught DH’s cold that he’s just not been able to shake for a couple of weeks nearly. Suppose I’ve done well to escape so far.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 07/01/2026 07:29

Morning all. Daaark, cooooooold. I haven't been out yet, but there's sill snow on the ground, despite last night's rain (sleet?) Not feeling any enthusiasm about going into the office, but ho hum! As long as we get in in one piece. side-eyes traffic reports about icy roads>

IdiotKitty is still being PITA, and DS has not appeared yet. FML, etc.

ApricotCrush · 07/01/2026 16:40

Afternoon. Woke up this morning to find there had been rain and the snow had gone. Hurrah, although the forecast says there is more to come. Our road was like an ice-rink when I went out for an appointment with the hygienist but the main roads were fine.

Hope the cold doesn’t come to much LetUs. Grin at That’s Not Your Trolley.

Have a good evening all. Football here I think which will no doubt be stressful.

Evening. Back at work <sighs>

We had rain last night too, despite how heavy it sounded it still didn't manage to wash away all the snow. And then the puddles froze, so I nearly slipped over on my drive this morning - yikes. Mind you, one nearby road has been closed for nearly a week now because of ice and I'm appreciative of the reduced traffic - bonus 😁

What idiots ww , fireworks on a farm 😡

Hope all wenches are staying warm and staying upright on the ice!

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 07/01/2026 21:40

Evening all. Most of the snow has been washed away/melted I think, though it was dark by the time I was home, so I can't be 100% sure of that.

Work was a slog - coming back from 2 weeks off straight into spreadsheet reconciliations isn't advised. Plus other shenanigans. Still, at least the traffic was mostly ok.

LetUsPrey · 08/01/2026 07:23

Morning wenches.

All these icy roads sound far too dangerous for walking on and driving. Best stay home. All our ice seems to have gone so no excuse here, but hang on … ROADWORKS! Started Monday so I remembered to check yesterday how long they’re on for. End of February. Good job I’ve lots to listen to in the car.

Cold is still threatening. It’s like it’s peeping around a corner at me 😄

Better get going I suppose.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 08/01/2026 09:50

Morning all. FFS to more roadworks LetUs

In entertaining/ment news, the local paper where Strike is being filmed just now was running live updates yesterday, which was hysterical - they're filming on the beach! / A local saw them filming whilst walking her dog! / a member of the crew says that it's cold, but they've managed to work around the snow / they've all gone for lunch! / they filmed at a different place yesterday / member of the crew says that this a lovely place / they're filming somewhere else tomorrow.
It's local news at it's most inane Grin

I am meant to be working - please could someone find my motivation for me?

ApricotCrush · 08/01/2026 16:51

Afternoon. Cloudy, damp and cold. Calm before the storm I think. We won’t be going anywhere. Hope you’ve managed to avoid the ice Fancy.

Oh no, not more roadworks LetUs. Mind you, I wish they’d do the potholes round here, some of them are really bad.

How exciting about the Strike filming Helen. Don’t envy them out in this weather. Your motivation is probably hiding away with mine. I was going to do so much but I’m just sitting here with a cat on my lap. Hmm

Have a good evening all.

Evening all. We have rain, but nothing to worry about here. Hope that wenches in stormy areas are all battened down.
<sends HBFs with ropes and chains for use in whatever way is most needed>
<snerk>

Hope that roadworks aren't causing too many problems for LetUs

LetUsPrey · 09/01/2026 07:25

Morning wenches.

We’ve been very lucky here so far - no more snow, no wind, don’t think we even had sleet - so I’m relieved. Hope all wenches are in one piece.

Suppose the roadworks are only adding five or 10 minutes so far but it’d be nice to have a clear run, especially on the way home 😄

Love local newspaper live updates 😄

Right, let’s get going <sits>

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 09/01/2026 08:00

Morning all. Rain and wind (enough to blow some pots over) but that's been it for us. We should be leaving, but DS is nowhere in sight,, <le sigh>

Have a good day all, hope no-one is snowed in!

ApricotCrush · 09/01/2026 16:33

Afternoon. We had heavy rain last night which froze and then about 3 inches of snow on top. Consequently the roads were lethal but it has thawed all day, so I asked DH if he would take me to the post office earlier to send a parcel. Big mistake!! We got stuck on the car park and had to reverse our way off trying to avoid other cars and various kerbs. Then when we got home we couldn't get up the drive as it's on a slight incline and we were stuck at the bottom unable to go forwards or backwards. DH had to get a spade and cut tracks through the ice. It took us 20 minutes to travel from road to garage. I apologised profusely for dragging him out. Oh, and our lovely pampas is flattened. Sad

Anyway, all's well that ends well, and I hope everyone's alright.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 09/01/2026 20:03

Well that was more excitement than you needed Apricot! We've had a lot of rain - everywhere is soggy, but out rain gauge wasn't empty and was on the wonk so hasn't measured it. It's been raining most of the day, and sleeting this evening I think.

In today's 'local news reporting', a road was closed for filming! Grin On Monday they're filming near DS's college, so I've suggested that he and his friends go scouting for them and see if they can get in the background of any shots Grin

Other than that, today has been work. <slumps on sofa for a snooze>

LetUsPrey · 10/01/2026 07:41

Morning wenches.

Blimey Apricot not what you needed! Glad got you got sorted <nae> in the end.

Love the local news updates Helen! And your idea for MiniHelen and friends to loiter 😄

Work yesterday was quite aaarrgghh because people who should know better are rubbish, and also don’t email someone else saying you’ve asked me to do something when you clearly haven’t. Although do then cc me in later in the email chain so I find out about it 😄

Nothing unusual (I hope) happening today.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 10/01/2026 11:46

Morning all. Today I am picking DS up from SportingActivity, or I'm not (following a mid-morning change of his plans), so my day is suddenly freed up, and I have no plans except being out this evening with friends. Also caught up with another friend earlier in the week for a blether, which was lovely because we never actually saw each other last year.

Your work idiots are just bloody annoying LetUs. I can feel my blood pressure going up as I read about them, and they don't even impact on my work!

Hope everywench has a good day.

ApricotCrush · 10/01/2026 16:48

Afternoon. Nice sunny day but the snow hasn’t moved, so I assume it’s still freezing out there.

Oh, how exciting Helen. Hope DS and his friends manage to find the filming.

Nothing going on here. Have a lovely evening all.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 10/01/2026 22:56

Evening all. Its -2 here and crispy frosty outside. The next village along has posted a Northern Lights photo, but there's nothing visible here (even through the camera).

In really exciting news Hmm DH has subscribed to TNT sport so he can watch more the sport he used to watch on Eurosport channel before they bought them out.

LetUsPrey · 11/01/2026 08:22

Morning wenches.

Very boring day yesterday which was excellent. Hope you had an excellent evening out with friends Helen.

We’re up to 11° tomorrow apparently which just seems a (welcome) nonsense. Hopefully some of that will radiate to frozen wenches.

Washing and ironing done, flapjacks made. Going to sit down with breakfast and do not much else until it’s time to go out.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 11/01/2026 08:43

Morning all. I caught the back end of a lovely sunrise this morning - the sky was all dappled pink. But all grey now instead. Livestock is fed, manshapes are asleep.
Last night was lots of fun - much laughing.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 11/01/2026 15:01

Snow, snow and more snow, not much else going on here. Not done anything productive today, just jigsawing and watching TV. Hope all wenches has a good day Smile

ApricotCrush · 11/01/2026 16:30

Afternoon. It's 7 degrees here and the snow is slowly melting. Hopefully it will be gone tomorrow.

Commiserations on your snow WW. That seems a perfectly appropriate way to spend the day.

Have a good evening all.

Evening wenches. I'm a bit pooped. It's daaaaark and drizzling. I have dug out some bamboo in the garden which was trying to re-establish itself (I don't bloody think so!) Also been for a short walk with DH and tried to pack all the small boxes in the big Christmas box (like sodding tetris!) And I can't get to the cupboard to put it all away anyway, because of all the sodding Sporting equipment stacked up in front of the door.

DS has exams next week and as far as I can tell has done no preparation.

Whoop. etc. DH has just suggested a hot bath to me, which is a thought, though I think I'll just want to go to bed and sleep if I have a bath. Hmm

On the plus side, I'm indoors, the fire is lit, and I don't have to go anywhere.

<builds sauna in Wicked's garden>

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 11/01/2026 17:52

FuckSake - I was mooching on Twitter and came across a post - Angie who set up the Burketeers has Stage 4 pancreatic cancer, while single parenting her 5yo 😱and apparently her health cover is refusing to pay out due to a technicality. That's one way to make me count my blessings and put things in perspective!
