Just finished season 3 of Blue Lights, the actress playing Tina is fantastic!

FancyFancy · 28/12/2025 23:15

Biting cold wind here today too - really made my eyes water! Have made Christmas left over pie, not sure if there's enough room in my freezer......

LetUsPrey · 29/12/2025 07:12

Morning wenches.

Monday blaaaaaaahhhhhh

Productive wenches everywhere.

Think I only saw bits of episodes of Blue Lights, although it gets very good reviews. Might give it another go.

Suppose I’d better get a move on.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 29/12/2025 09:38

Morning all. It's overcast outside and v. uninspiring. Today will involve a tiny bit of work more digging, and meeting up with friends this evening.

IdiotKitty is in 'kill' mode and currently attacking a glove (his glove, bought for the purpose).

Sympathies to LetUs on back to workness Sad at <cbf> at all WorkTwats for making our lives harder.

ApricotCrush · 29/12/2025 17:07

Afternoon. Cloudy and miserable here. I've just been stripping a chicken we had the last couple of days to make a curry and that's it really. Back to normal meals.

We enjoyed Blue Lights too WW. It's a bit harrowing at times, but very good.

Awww at IdiotKitty having his own glove to attack.

Hope work wasn't too bad for LetUs.

Evening. Gardening stuff is still a work in progress (with a 'helpful' chicken at my feet). I finished stripping the turkey yesterday Apricot - the bones are boiling for stock, and the meat is going in the freezer before it goes off. There's turkey/bacon pie and turkey curry in the fridge, to be reheated. Neverending Turkey!

IdiotKitty did not have a successful hunting afternoon, so he was a little shit between coming in and then falling asleep.

Hope that LetUsWork was bearable.

LetUsPrey · 29/12/2025 20:27

Evening wenches.

Work was pretty bloody dull tbh. A few bits to do here and there but all quickly dealt with. Never mind. On the upside, the traffic there and back was ace.

Just back from small person’s birthday tea which was lovely.

Love that IdiotKitty has his own glove for attach purposes.

We have no chicken or turkey to dismantle, although I am womanfully making my way through the chocolate. Will leave the alcohol to the weekend 😄

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 29/12/2025 21:26

And now I have "Neverending turkey, ah-ha ah-ha ah-ha" in my head instead of Neverending story" Confused

LetUsPrey · 30/12/2025 07:10

Morning wenches.

😁Wicked. Truly it is the gift that keeps on giving

In bed early last night as I was falling asleep before 9.30. Appalling sleep and completely mad and not fun dreams. Not exactly feeling rested, although do any of us remember what that feels like?

Dark and urgh.

Oh FGS <shakes self and tells self to bloody well cheer up>

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 30/12/2025 09:19

Morning all. <arf> at the never ending turkey. It does feel like it though. I remember we once span one out long enough that I took cold turkey sandwiches for lunch at school. Unfortunately the turkey went off between home and school. I have never shut up a lunch box so fast <boak>.

Weather is sunny with cloud. I have washing on so doubtless the cloud will quickly come over and give us some rain as well Hmm

Last night was fun, lots of chat and cheese and silly board games, plus a guess the intro one using YouTube and QR codes Shock at the high-tech-ness of it! Grin

Hurrah for the small person's party and good traffic LetUs - boo for crap dreams Sad

Have a good day all. Work and gardening await...

ApricotCrush · 30/12/2025 16:18

Afternoon. Cloudy all day but I think it’s a bit lighter. Still horribly dark in the morning.

Nothing going on here. I keep thinking it’s Sunday. Confused We’re going to the pub for a meal later with DD & Co because we feel like it and she’s been to work and doesn’t want to cook.

Hope everyone’s had a good day.

Evening all. Daaaaaaaark, but in good news, I got the flower bed dug to and replanted before the cold snap sets in. That's it really. PLanning to go shopping with DH tomorrow.

Hope Apricot has a lovely meal - 'because you feel like it' is an excellent reason for eating out!

LetUsPrey · 30/12/2025 21:44

Evening wenches.

Traffic (or lack of it) has been the best part of the working day today.

That sounds very productive again Helen. Ignoring the 🤢 lunchbox.

Hope you’ve had a delicious meal out Apricot,

DH is flicking between football (which is absolutely dire) and darts (admittedly quite entertaining).

LetUsPrey · 31/12/2025 07:24

Morning wenches.

Brrrrr. Cars are frosted over. Cant see anything much other than that.

Early finish for me today. Off out tonight to friends’ house. Not usually one for going out on NYE but it’s okay when it’s something like this. Also it’s walking distance so that helps.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 31/12/2025 09:22

Morning all. Yes, brrr, though the frost was mostly lifting by the time I got outside. It was already setting in at 7pm last night though. Clear sky and sunshine. And a cat on my lap.

Walking distance NYE plans with a friend sounds ideal!

ApricotCrush · 31/12/2025 16:46

Afternoon. Very frosty and foggy start, but a nice sunny day after it had cleared.

I had to get a birthday card this morning which needed to be posted today, so I thought I'd buy it, write it in the car and post it. There are three shops that sell cards in the village up the road including Sainsbury's and not one had got an age 10 for a boy. Angry In the end I got one without an age and our niece will think I don't know how old he is, but I haven't seen him since he was a baby, so sod it. Then I picked the wrong queue at Sainsbury's and had to wait an age while some problem was sorted out. Argh!

Just realised it's New Year's Eve. We're not doing anything which is a relief really. Have a lovely evening all, whether you're going out or not. Wine

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 31/12/2025 17:54

Gosh Apricot - I rarely bother with 'age' cards. It's too much effort to find a good card with the right age. I have been known to buy one for the wrong age and tippex/re-write to the the right age. Usually for someone's 30th Grin
Frosty start and frosty end to the day. We're having a quiet night, including with some online games.

Fingers crossed for 2026 being a good year!

FancyFancy · 31/12/2025 22:30

Evening - have just been doing an on-line escape room thingy with helen & family. Very taxing on the brain!

Has been bloody cold here today - feels like -3 outside apparently

LetUsPrey · 01/01/2026 08:15

Morning wenches.

Happy New Year to you all!

Lovely evening last night but the walk home in freezing rain and biting cold was not ideal! No matter, it was a fun night out.

It’s annoying when you can’t find the right card Apricot.

That sounds fun evening Fancy!

Today will be very much like a Sunday with washing and visiting etc so I’ll be properly confused when I realise it’s Thursday!

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 01/01/2026 09:37

Morning all. Bit tired. Happy New Year!

Had fun night online with Fancy. Fortunately the daft 'guess the word' game we played was a lot more fun than the escape room, which was frankly a bit stressful. The manshapes went to bed about 2am Shock so I'm not expecting to see them ay time soon.

There was a nice golden sunrise earlier, but now it's just grey cloud and cold. I feel it's more of a 'new year snooze' then 'new year walk' weather.

FancyFancy · 01/01/2026 12:42

Happy New Year 🎉

Am lazing around so far, was thinking of a short walk, but it's getting very grey out there.

Was lovely to see Helen and family last night - NYE with no transport dilemmas or having to go out in the cold for added bonuses 😁

ApricotCrush · 01/01/2026 16:30

Happy New Year all! Cold and rainy here, but I haven't been out of the house.

That sounds like a lovely way to spend NYE Helen and Fancy. We watched Pretty Woman, again, as it popped up on the tv, and then went to bed. It's good to watch something that hasn't got complicated time changes and a plot which doesn't tax your brain.

A new series of The Night Manager starts tonight on the BBC, so we might give that a go.

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 01/01/2026 17:10

Oooh! to Night Manager - I'd forgotten that!

We have had a little walk across the field and home on the road, but it's very nippy out there. Saying that, I went to put the chickens away after dark and the frost hasn't come down yet, so obviously not as cold as yesterday was (yet). Other than the walk, I seem ot have spent the day sitting on the sofa eating chocolate Blush

FancyFancy · 01/01/2026 19:35

There are definitely evenings when a non-taxing watch is called for apricot!

I need to rewatch series 1 of the Night Manager first, so will start that tonight.

Sounds similar weather to here Helen, not such a heavy frost as yesterday, but still chilly. I did go for a short walk, kept it brisk to ward off the cold and it was rather pleasant.

So today we had 7 more minutes of daylight than on the shortest day, with sunset being after 4 o'clock - I'm celebrating the small wins 😁

LetUsPrey · 01/01/2026 21:20

Evening wenches.

Flipping perishing today. Nothing too exciting today which is fine thank you very much.

Had forgotten about new series of The Night Manager. It’ll be in a queue behind finishing The Iris Affair and Shetland. Hasn’t helped with the darts and/or football being on practically every night.

I did think it seemed slightly less dark after 4pm. Good to know I wasn’t imagining it 😄
