Afternoon all. I don't think the cheese stays uneaten for long enough to need guarding?

It was broken sunshine when I got up this morning, so washing is on the line. Hopefully it will get dry, it's quite breezy. Though also dark and cloudy now.

I've been doing some last minute work, and making fudge because apparently boxes of nice fudge aren't a thing in our local supermarket, and the farm shop sells it for VAST amounts of money. Tidying still needs ot be done. Argh!

ApricotCrush · 24/12/2025 16:48

Afternoon. Nice day with some sun.

You’re not alone Helen. I’ve made the custard for the trifles, in the traditional way, and after I’d put it on I looked at the date on the tin and it was April 2021. Shock It’ll be fiiiiiine. I also have some marzipan dated 2017. I obviously haven’t made a Christmas cake since then. I’ll have to go through the cupboards in the New Year and have a chuck-out.

I think everything’s done, I’ve got it all ready to take to DD’s. Cream on the trifles I’ll do in the morning. I’ve made a right mess of my nail polish because I do stuff before it’s properly dry. I think I’ll put sparkle polish over them to cover up the marks. Hmm

<abandons gingerbread hunt and pinches fudge instead>

Evening wenches.

Good idea re the sparkly top coat Apricot.

Errands happened this morning. Made cookies this afternoon. Did bath’n’book this afternoon. Not even 8pm and I’m ready for bed.

<bribes Chonk and Floof with favourite snacks to give up Fancy’s location>
<has fudge as fortification>

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 24/12/2025 21:53

Evening all. The cake is iced. I am tired and a bit Envy from eating too much icing. Things might be vaguely under control. Perhaps.

Admires SparklyApricot.
Pinches cookies.
Contemplates bunking off from midnight service and going to bed.

Happy Christmas!🎄

LetUsPrey · 25/12/2025 07:53

Morning wenches.

Happy Christmas you lovely wenches!

Hope your day is filled with joy and love and happiness.

In and out for most of the day, there may even be shaking it about at some stage.

Have lovely days wenches.

FancyFancy · 25/12/2025 09:20

Merry Christmas wenches! Have a wonderful day and may there be faf under your trees!

Mmmm, homemade fudge.....

ApricotCrush · 25/12/2025 10:54

🎄Happy Christmas wenches!🎄

Hope you all have a lovely day!

Happy Christmas all! Hope that everyone has had a good day.

There was no FAF under the tree, but oodles of chocolate Grin I was in Christmas jumper, but now in PJs and dressing gown, because that's warmer. Brrr, etc. Also, v. tired.

LetUsPrey · 26/12/2025 08:04

Morning wenches.

Lovely day yesterday with family dotted about throughout. Out again later as there’s a family birthday.

Hope all wenches had wonderful days.

<checks under fallen tinsel for Wicked>

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/12/2025 09:05

Morning all. Slight frost overnight and a big orange sun this morning.
We probably have a family walk today, which DS will not want to do. <le sigh>

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 26/12/2025 16:24

Afternoon 😀

Worked a bit on Christmas Eve and nice landladies also invited us tenants for mulled wine in the stable, very cozy Smile

Visited mum on Christmas Day for our traditional after Christmas sales shopping trip. Fell asleep on the couch when I got home. Rock'n'roll Grin

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas Smile

ApricotCrush · 26/12/2025 19:48

Afternoon. Nice day but cold, there was an overnight frost.

That all sounds lovely WW.

We’ve had a nice couple of days, yesterday at DD’s and today we went out to a restaurant near to DS’s. He’s not daft, he gets us to pick him and his children up so he can have a drink. To be fair yesterday he didn’t drink at all as he was driving. We’ve just taken his kids back and are home and watching football rubbish tv. I don’t think we’ll be late going to bed.

Hope all wenches have had a lovely Christmas.

Back on the cheese.......

LetUsPrey · 27/12/2025 07:04

Morning wenches.

Had a lovely time at birthday gathering last night. Tired now though.

That sounds a super Christmas Wicked, except for the working bit.

Did MiniHelen go out on the walk?

That also sounds lovely Apricot, except for the tv viewing.

Meeting BestFriend this morning, not much planned today. Might have a nap.

You want to watch for mice Fancy, with all that cheese.
<hides mouse disguise under a cushion>

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/12/2025 12:44

Afternoon all.

DS didn't walk yesterday, though we got home and he'd taken it into his head to go for a run Shock so I'm not going to complain - wouldn't catch me going running it the cold weather these days. Training in the cold and dark is a thing of my past, and only done as part of organised training sessions! Anyway, the sea was very rough and lots of seals were pulled up on the beach. There was one cartoon-round large pup just lying on its back giving off lots of 'I ate to much for Christmas' vibes Grin

No plans for today. Nice to see that everywench is having a good time. (Tedious football excepted.)

<pinches cheese>

ApricotCrush · 27/12/2025 16:31

Afternoon. Cloudy and dismal day. I went out to post a parcel this morning (not Christmas-related) and then went a walk round the road and since then I’ve done nothing of any use except sort the photos I’ve taken and shared them with everyone.

Hope the seals are alright.

<snort at LetUs in a mouse costume>

LetUsPrey · 27/12/2025 19:26

Evening wenches.

Helen 😄 I am the seal, the seal is me.

That sounds like quite enough activity to me Apricot.

Had a lovely chat with BestFriend this morning. Finished some crochet this afternoon. Some housework was done.

Watched Festive Celebrity Pottery earlier which was very enjoyable. So now I’m watching Festive Celebrity Sewing Bee. So far - less enjoyable.

FancyFancy · 27/12/2025 19:27

Back home, have unpacked to the background music of TCFNAC and Floof constantly demanding food, despite having just been fed. Everything went pretty well, DDad got a bit emotional at a few points, but seemed to enjoy himself overall. Board games were played and cheese and port consumed, but overall we seemed a bit more sober than previous years, so several bottles came back with me.

Glad all wenches had a good time and feeling very lazy as you all seem to have done more physical activity than me - I really should go for a walk tomorrow!

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/12/2025 22:13

Evening all.

No LetUs - the seal is me - we've just been playing a silly catching game where you catch things before they drop (one handed). The only way I could do it was slapping both hands together like the proverbial seal. The manshapes, obviously, were catching it one-handed. <eye-roll>

Today's activity was lopping the front hedge. Tomorrow, hopefully, I'll be digging out a flower bed. Haven't checked the weather to see if that's likely or not.

Glad that Fancy had a good time with family. Board games, cheese and port - sounds ideal.

LetUsPrey · 28/12/2025 08:24

Morning wenches.

That game sounds like hard work Helen, fun but hard work. Hope you get the weather for your gardening.

That sounds like a rather nice Christmas Fancy.

Usual Sunday I think. Ironing already done.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/12/2025 11:58

Morning all. Nice lazy start to the day again (after doing livestock). Various vague plans exist for the day - we'll see which one wins out! I do need to order a new phone phone though (landline) - upstairs will tell us it's fully charged and then if you pick up a call immediately conk out, insisting it has flat batteries, so it's utterly pointless at the moment.

In random Twitter news, the BBC have released the shooting scripts for Strike, so Apricot has a whole new thing to keep her amused now the photo are sorted - do a read-along with each series o see which parts of the script never made it to the final edit Grin www.bbc.co.uk/writers/scripts/tv-drama/strike

Have a good day all.

ApricotCrush · 28/12/2025 16:51

Afternoon. Dull day and very cold. I went to post a birthday card in the postbox in the next road earlier and then walked round our road and it was biting cold. I’ve got four family birthdays this month and I haven’t got over Christmas yet. Hmm It’s relentless.

That’s interesting about the Strike scripts Helen.

Glad everything went well Fancy.

Are you back tomorrow LetUs? Hope colleagues aren’t too annoying.

Have a good evening all.

LetUsPrey · 28/12/2025 19:21

Evening wenches.

Hope the best plan won out Helen and you’ve had a super day.

I think Christmas Day was our coldest day recently. That wind was freezing. Birthdays, yes, one today which I’d already sorted (for a special little boy 😊) and then dad’s soon so I’m grateful for the reminder Apricot.

Back to work tomorrow so urgh to that.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/12/2025 21:09

Urgh to 'back to work' LetUs Sad

This afternoon we had another (shorter) walk, and I started digging out the overgrown flowerbed. I have a wheelbarrow with lots of couch grass in it. Nothing very exciting. Not too chilly here as long as you're out of the wind.
