Afternoon. Cloudy but warmer. The sun attempted to come out this afternoon and I went to sit outside, but it didn't happen so I gave up.

I've been doing my spreadsheet for my eBay sales, I'm only four years behind. Shock I don't have to do it as I'm only selling my lifetime collection of rubbish stuff, but I like to keep records.

DH does short cuts LetUs and they always take longer. I used to argue with him about them, but I just let him get on with it now.

I haven't seen the Toby Stephens version of Jane Eyre WW, but I loved Timothy Dalton as Mr. Rochester. I watched it with DD; she was only about 7 or 8, but she loved it.

Hope the barbecue goes well Helen.

Evening wenches.

Tired after yet another rubbish night’s sleep.

Hope your barbecue was good Helen and there was no rain.

Alan Rickman was wasted on Marianne. NC’s favourite was Toby Stephens too. But I’m with Apricot re Timothy Dalton. That adaptation of Jane Eyre was my gateway into Bronte etc. Must have been the script 😁

LetUsPrey · 25/08/2025 07:37

Morning wenches.

Up early and have done the ironing I didn’t feel like doing yesterday.

No plans or anything today so I may sit with a book in the garden at some point.

Have super days wenches.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 25/08/2025 07:55

Ah, yes, Timothy Dalton, I had a huge crush on him as a teenager. He's also my favourite Bond.

FancyFancy · 25/08/2025 14:30

Afternoon
Am off to an open air theatre later with FancyMan - really must get ready!

Congrats on the wedding anniversary apricot

Ah, Book of Mormon - I might have seen that 4 times now Grin

ApricotCrush · 25/08/2025 17:19

Afternoon. Lovely sunny day. It was supposed to be 28 degrees, but there was a wind which kept it from being too much. I did a load of washing, hoovered round and went to Sainsbury's this morning, then went outside with sudokus this afternoon.

My favourite Bond will always be Sean Connery, but Timothy Dalton is a close second. For some reason I never took to Roger Moore.

Thanks Fancy. Have a lovely evening.

We're going to the caravan tomorrow. The weather doesn't look too good, thunderstorms later in the week, but it doesn't matter. DH needs a rest; if he stays here he just keeps working. Must start packing.

LetUsPrey · 25/08/2025 19:32

Evening wenches.

Mostly a relaxing day with busy bits.

I remember Timothy Dalton being cast as Bond. That was a happy day 😁

Enjoy your evening Fancy.

Fairly windy here today too with rain forecast the rest of the week. Hope it’s not as bad for you Apricot. Good idea re getting MrA to have a rest.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 25/08/2025 19:50

Evening all. It's been a lovely sunny day and we've had a lovely weekend of catching up with friends, and working out that we haven't all met together for at least 15 years.

Also, I've cut the hedge back today, and DH has picked oodles of plums and tomatoes (I might be quietly crying at the thought of processing/preserving lots of them). The BBQ was good last night, but got a bit chilly towards the end so pudding was indoors - in retrospect we should have had an afternoon BBQ, not an evening one.

Hope that **Fancy has had a fun outdoor theatre. I saw the Pantaloons outdoors recently and expected a comedy performance of Hamlet, so was rather disappointed when it was mostly played straight. On the other hand, their Sense and Sensibility was hilarious - "We also have a younger sister but there's only two of us so she's not in this play" with a side order of the Macarena and other such nonsense.

Hope you have a good time at the caravan Apricot - I would say you should lock MrA in, but he'd only injure himself trying to unscrew the door hinges, or something similar! Hope you had your book'n'garden LetUs.

LetUsPrey · 26/08/2025 08:02

Morning wenches.

Goodness Helen that sounds a full on day! But mostly lovely and fun.

Day off today. Had intended to go into town with DS2 to sort out an old bank account of his from years ago but I’m a signatory on it so they told DH I have to go in. Checked last night. They don’t open today. Or on Saturdays. So that’s a bit of a pain.

Meeting BestFriend for birthday lunch so I might have a little nap around 3pm 😁

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/08/2025 08:46

Morning all. Sunny this morning, and I'm meeting friends for lunch. Slightly wobbly visual migraine, but I hope that's passed quickly and will sod off...

Have a lovely birthday lunch LetUs!

<CBF> at bank being closed. (I have an account with about 78p in it which is dormant because the closest branch is several hundred miles away and it's very unlikely to get sorted out in the near future. <eye roll>).

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/08/2025 22:03

Evening. It has been hot and sunny, with occasional cloud which did nothing as useful as dropping some rain. Also, work. Urgh - I'm not a fan after a week off.

LetUsPrey · 27/08/2025 07:11

Morning wenches.

Birthday lunch was delicious and had a lovely time chatting away with BestFriend. Had quite a bit of rain in the morning and early afternoon.

That sounds very helpful re distant bank branch Helen.

Didn’t do much else yesterday

Also the urgh at back to work today. Suppose at least it’s a short day to ease myself back in. And it’ll give me chance to see how rubbish things are with the temporary lights for the emergency 14 week long roadworks. Joy.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/08/2025 07:55

Morning all. Even less a fan of work today since it includes an early start, and I've spent far too long chopping fruit and stuff for breakfast. Urgh. Must throw clothes on and leave.

Good luck with the roadworks LetUs. We have a looooong stretch of speed limit 'for consistent journey times', which means you're either crawling through it at near standstill, or could have been driving at normal speeds with no problems, because traffic laughs in the face of management!

ApricotCrush · 27/08/2025 17:07

Afternoon wenches. We arrived here late yesterday afternoon after being held up for 45 minutes on the A5. Don’t know whether it was an accident or roadworks. The weather was lovely, but it chucked it down this morning, followed by sun after lunch. We’ve been sitting outside doing sudokus but the wind was rather chilly.

Locking DH in the caravan doesn’t work. He’s had the television off the wall to install a socket behind it, wires all over the place, I think so we can watch YouTube on it. I’m not asking. This is the third attempt. If this doesn’t work I think he’ll give up. Hmm

Hope work and roadworks haven’t been too bad.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 27/08/2025 19:51

Evening wenches.

Left much earlier this morning so traffic wasn’t too bad. Next real test will be rush hour tomorrow and then when the schools are back. On the good side of things I’d rather they repair the bridge that’s necessitated these roadworks than it collapse.

The limit for consistent journey times sounds a bit annoying Helen.

Urgh at your traffic too Apricot. Hurrah for some sun though. Perhaps you’ll have to lock MrApricot in progressively smaller areas, although I suspect if he was shut in the bathroom, you’d hear a shout that he’s improved the toilet flush or something!

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/08/2025 22:20

Evening all. I'm knackered and need to head to the hayloft. I also have nothing of interest to say, other than <arf> and MrA's ability to DIY absolutely anywhere, and a pre-emptive <cbf> at traffic for LetUs.

LetUsPrey · 28/08/2025 07:15

Morning wenches.

I shall keep telling myself it’s better than the bridge collapsing and me and my car falling into the canal.

We’ve been forecast thunder again today. Yesterday’s never turned up so I’ll believe it when it happens.

Have lovely days wenches,

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/08/2025 09:16

Morning all. Sunny here at the moment, with some high cloud about. We did have a heavy shower last night, but only enough to get things wet at a surface level.

No LetUs - we def. don't want you ending up in the canal. It would just be nice if the roadworks could be faster and less disruptive.

Hope that Apricot has a nice day and everyone gets, or doesn't get thunder - depending on preferences!

ApricotCrush · 28/08/2025 16:43

Afternoon. The thunder that was forecast didn’t materialise, but it’s been throwing it down for most of the day, although it’s brightened up now. Hope we’re getting some of that at home.

The television thing worked I think, but we haven’t tried it out properly yet. Oh, and he’s way ahead of you with the toilet flush LetUs, he’s already done that. Grin

Have a lovely evening all.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 28/08/2025 21:06

Evening wenches.

Bet you didn’t even need to lock him in either Apricot 😁

We’ve had much the same weather as you. No forecast thunder here either.

Work happened and then I’ve done ExerciseClass.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/08/2025 23:31

Evening all. FML, how did it get so late? (Because we ate late and then watched Thunderbolts, which was entertaining.)

I have also done an exercise class, and had an unexpected trip out with friends because they had a spare ticket. It was lovely and sunny, which meant I was also organised enough to get a wash done and dried on the line, which is just as well if we get the forecast rain tomorrow (though no thunder).

Hayloft calls.
<checks under blankets for Fancy>

LetUsPrey · 29/08/2025 07:15

Morning wenches.

Surprise evening out with friends with lovely weather sounds just the thing.

Tipping down here and doesn’t look to change over the weekend. I think there’s a patch of nice weather in about a week.

Friday so hurrah for that.

Have great days wenches.

ApricotCrush · 29/08/2025 18:07

Afternoon. Much rain overnight, but it’s been quite a nice day. We went into nearby big town this morning and did the usual shop as well as spending some Next gift cards which I’d totally forgotten about and found in a drawer. Hmm They were fortunately still in date.

We tried sitting outside this afternoon but the wind was chilly when the sun went in.

Have a lovely evening all. Wine

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 29/08/2025 22:12

Morning all. It's damp here - no downpours, but the ground is wet. I spent a happy breakfast tidying the kitchen and lobbing bits of the hob in the dishwasher, then I had a break from work and got them out again....

Then I didn't actually hit send and spent the day glaring at spreadsheets and trying to sort out various fuckups, most of which were mine.

We've had about 1cm rain through the day, so damp underfoot without getting remotely sodden.

What fun to find unexpected gift cards Apricot!.

Hope that everyone has had a decent day at work.

LetUsPrey · 30/08/2025 07:49

Morning wenches.

Sunshine oooooo! But rain later so I’m hoping the wash I’ve put out gets a move on to dry quickly.

Excellent find re the gift cards Apricot.

Can’t really remember much about yesterday other than work and collecting DS2 from SportingActivity.

Today is usual stuff with bonus trying to stop the washing machine from being quite whiffy which is annoying as I ran a service wash with soda crystals last week. Steady now,

Have lovely days wenches.
