Afternoon all. We are sat on the sofa doing not much, though Elk is knitting so she's being more productive than me Grin
Also overcast here and even a bit drizzly. There went summer Confused.

ApricotCrush · 19/08/2025 17:17

Afternoon. Same here, cloudy and cooler.

DD loves the rides at the theme parks, she’s very stupid daring. Not me, ever since I was coerced into going on the Big Dipper or whatever it’s called now at Blackpool many decades ago and have had tinnitus ever since. I swear that was the cause. Hmm

Yes, we have enjoyed Versailles although I think it has suffered from Third Season Syndrome. Many of them had a complete change of character, the Chevalier decided he was straight after Philippe dumped him, Bontemps became violent, the sweet Sophie became a spy and Louis went almost celibate. I think they had new showrunners who didn’t seem to have watched the previous series, much like TM.

Oooooo, I hadn’t heard of King and Conqueror, will definitely be watching that.

Evening wenches.

Definitely much cooler here too. Work was crackers.

Doing not much after what sounded a very busy day yesterday sounds perfectly reasonable Helen. I’ve been crocheting rather than knitting.

That’s some very odd changes of direction for the characters Apricot.

LetUsPrey · 20/08/2025 07:11

Morning wenches.

Grey and cloudy and a bit urgh but the forecast is promising nice things in the next couple of days.

Short work day so hurrah for that!

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 20/08/2025 11:21

Morning all. It's overcast again here but that makes for decent travelling weather (heading homewards today). So there will be nothing exciting going on (hopefully).

Hope that everywench has a good day.

ApricotCrush · 20/08/2025 16:55

Afternoon. Cloudy and much cooler here. I went out to a local garden centre with DD and DGS this morning for brunch and then a mooch round, but we didn’t buy anything. It’s her birthday today, can’t believe how quickly the years roll by.

Hope the journey home was uneventful Helen.

Also hope the other birthday girl had a good day.

LetUsPrey · 20/08/2025 21:48

Evening wenches.

Hope my Birthday Twin had a lovely day too 😊

Also hope Helen had a safe uneventful journey home.

DS2 got up early so he could be up with me for birthday stuff. And then went back to bed - who can blame him 😁. Work was work but early finish. BestFriend came round and then, as a surprise, DS1 and his girlfriend came round. He’d said they couldn’t make it so that was a super surprise.

LetUsPrey · 21/08/2025 07:04

Morning wenches.

i keep being promised brighter, warmer weather. Very dull again here.

Another day of muppet wrangling ahead no doubt. (Not literal muppets, Kermit and Co would never be awkward).

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/08/2025 09:19

Morning all. Thought I posted last night - Hmm at self! The trip back was uneventful and very boring (apart from the stressful bits where DH misunderstood directions and also had a hissy fit about being stuck behind two lorries overtaking - his pet hate.)

Cats were very pleased to see us, one chicken is deceased (it was looking ropey before we left) and that's about it. I have the next two days off work, as well, and will see if I can resist the temptation to log on anyway.

Hurrah for birthday surprises (aww at DS1!) and cooperating DCs LetUs Grin

Weather is gloomy, and it drizzled while I was feeing the chickens. I should have breakfast/go back to bed for extra holiday snoozing Grin

ApricotCrush · 21/08/2025 16:50

Afternoon. Cloudy this morning, but it has brightened up now.

DH's car was in for service this morning and we left at 8 o'clock to miss the traffic. Bit of a shock to the system, I'm usually eating my breakfast in bed at that time. I'd wrapped two parcels to take to the post office as well.

Glad you had a nice birthday LetUs. DD did too, she's off work this week.

Oh, poor chicken Helen but yay for the cats being happy to see you. Smile

LetUsPrey · 21/08/2025 21:10

Evening wenches.

RIP chicken. Hurrah for happy cats though and mostly uneventful journey. Enjoy your days off and no logging on!

That’s very organised of you Apricot, I think you should have an extra lie in tomorrow as a reward 😊

Work was blah. I’ve been to ExerciseClass and am now watching a Star Trek film.

FancyFancy · 21/08/2025 22:36

Evening
Still very crispy here <does rain dance>

Glad you're back safely helen & RIP chicken

Now wouldn't work be more interesting (and possibly more efficient) if there were actual muppets letus Grin

How did the car service go apricot?

I have been very dull - catching up on some jobs, going to work blah blah.....
might give that programme a go as it has James Norton in it. Mind you, I have rather a lot of other programmes to watch as well <sighs> Am currently rewatching Ghosts as I needed something light after the last few weeks - it has absolutely been hitting the spot. And the Captain is very easy on the eye.....

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/08/2025 22:45

Evening all. I have done none of the planned gardening today, because I ended up getting a puncture fixed and doing a supermarket shop instead. Adulting at its best Hmm
It's also very crispy here Fancy - the front water butt is empty which is going to mean carting water the length of the garden from the tank at the bottom to water the blueberries Sad

At least if you had to get up early you managed to combine it with other stuff like parcels apricot

Actual Muppets at work - could be highly entertaining, but not much work would get done Grin

LetUsPrey · 22/08/2025 07:11

Morning wenches.

I would love to have actual Muppets at work 😁. They’d be a huge improvement on the majority of staff!

Urgh at puncture Helen and adulting in general.

Love the Captain, especially in the Christmas wedding episode 😁

Dull here again.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/08/2025 10:06

Morning all. I'm just sitting down to breakfast when I should already be on the road to meet friends <le sigh> On the other hand, last night's darked-on washing is mostly dry and handing up for airing indoors, more washing is out, a second load is on, the spare bed is made up, the downstairs has been carpet-cleaned, so my lunchtime 'fish and chips and hot chocolate at the beach' will be well deserved. (In addition to lunch time meet, our AllergicToCats friend is arriving tonight.)

Have a good day all. (DH is WFH and has just started running a training video about computery stuff - if that's not an encouragement to get on the road then nothing is!)

ApricotCrush · 22/08/2025 16:50

Afternoon. Cloudy for most of the day. The sun attempted to make an appearance this afternoon but didn’t quite make it.

The car is very happy with its service Fancy but the bank account isn’t. Shock

That sounds exhausting Helen, hope you’ve had a lovely day.

Grin at working with actual Muppets.

We’re going out for a meal later with the family as it’s our wedding anniversary. We never buy cards but DH had got me one, so I had to go out and get one for him while he was at golf. Makes a change, it’s usually him doing that on my birthday. We also had a special one from a very big house in London. Wink

Finally Friday! You know what you can do if you think the wine is to weak? You put vodka in it! That's what I did and it was perfect 🍷

Just finished watching "Miss Austen" which I liked very much. Can recommend!

Grin at Muppets!

Happy Anniversary Apes and MrApes🍷

LetUsPrey · 22/08/2025 20:14

Evening wenches.

Adding vodka to wine sounds interesting Wicked. I do need to up my fluid intake so that might be a way to go 😁

Happy anniversary to the Apricots - that sounds like it’s a very special anniversary! Hope you have a lovely evening celebrating with your family.

Helen that sounds like you thoroughly deserve extra of your condiment and sauce of your choice on your fish and chips!

Work was shite because people are still fucking stupid.

I’m beginning my extra long weekend with a bag of Haribo and another Star Trek film.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/08/2025 21:57

Happy special anniversary Apricot and MrA!

I have had a long day which has been fun (socialising, charity shop bargains, and food), but tiring (socialising, travelling, and cooking) and I have... a headache (because, of course I do), DH is home from SportingActivity now though, so I am off socialising duty and can do snoring-face-down-in-a-pillow duty instead. Grin

I do wish we could sort out your idiot work colleagues for you LetUs. It sounds like a good start to the weekend though - enhance by that good tip on upping your fluid intake from Wicked Grin Grin Grin

I hope Fancy has a nice relaxing weekend lined up with no parental stresses!

LetUsPrey · 23/08/2025 07:00

Morning wenches.

That does sound a full on day Helen but fun and very productive.

Feel free to come and sort out work colleagues. You’ll hopefully have better luck than I have.

Plan today is quick solo visit to yarn place, lots of washing and tidying, off out to friends’ house for barbecue.

Have lovely days wenches,

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 23/08/2025 08:55

Morning all. It's lovely and sunny. I have been out hurling water about in the garden, and need to take WobblyCat for her anti-wobble treatment. I thought I would book it early so as not to interfere with any plans for the day, but I don't think DH has any plans to wake before 10am, so I could have booked one later. Still, I was up anyway, so... <shrug>

Have a lovely day all.

ApricotCrush · 23/08/2025 17:42

Afternoon. Cloudy and quite cool here. I’ve got a fan heater on as I’m cold.

Thanks for the anniversary wishes, we had a nice meal last night. DH has currently got a sander on one of the walls outside and driving me mad.

Grin at wine and vodka.

Have a lovely evening all.

LetUsPrey · 24/08/2025 08:56

Morning wenches.

Lovely evening out yesterday. Decided to walk home which featured one of DH’s short cuts which actually involved going the wrong way at first and took longer to get home, even without going the wrong way.

Hope WobblyCat’s okayed MrApricot wasn’t sanding for too long.

Usual Sunday ahead but with added bonus of no urgh feeling later on for Monday!

Have lovely days wenches.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 24/08/2025 10:04

Watched Persuasion from 1995 yesterday, I've forgotten how dishy Ciaran Hinds is as Captain Wentworth Grin He, Alan Rickman and Colin Firth are my favourite Austen leading men. And when it comes to Brontë, Toby Stephens as Mr Rochester in Jane Eyre.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 24/08/2025 10:45

Morning all. There has been a smattering of rain - things are damp outside. Though it wasn't forecast, so now DH is swithering about having a BBQ tonight in case we get more. I will be out buying BBQ stuff later anyway.
Yesterday was a lazy day with a bit or gardening and lots of reading. Not entirely sure what today's plans are with, various visiting friends. I have to play taxi for DS and GF either way, so I'll combine that with the BBQ shopping. <bores self>

We did go to see Book of Mormon last night, which was entertainingly bonkers - would have probably been more bonkers if I'd been able to make out more of the lyrics.
