Evening wenches.

Rain, not rain, rain, not rain.

Work was quite rubbish because people who should know better don’t do their fucking jobs properly. Hygienist after work which was actually preferable.

Watching episode two of Karen Pirie.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 30/07/2025 21:30

Pfft LetUs - if only we could sort out your work fuckwits for you Sad Have some consolation FAF... My work dragged for everyone today. Lots of demotivation and general tiredness. And spreadsheets. The weather was nice at least, so there's that. Though being at work we didn't get full enjoyment of it.

I was reading today about how spot-on flea treatments are very unfriendly for the environment - bad for birds and chicks that use it in nests, and for aquatic life. <le sigh>

We've watched more Dune Prophecy tonight.

LetUsPrey · 31/07/2025 07:04

Morning wenches.

I feel consoled now.

Your work sounded fairly awful too Helen. I think spreadsheets would push me over the edge.

I think I’ve seen that about flea treatments too. What a pain.

The sun is trying to shine and I’ve ambitiously put a wash on.

Have lovely days wenches.

ApricotCrush · 31/07/2025 17:23

Afternoon. Cloudy this morning but it brightened up after lunch, although I couldn’t sit outside as the lawn man came to put a treatment on it. Quite frankly I think it’s a bit of a waste of money as it still looks like Weetabix even after the rain we’ve had. We’ll see.

In other news the tomatoes are turning yellow, yay! One of DH’s friends told him to put banana skins in with them as they’ve got something in them that helps to ripen them. Seems weird, but Google confirmed it. Hmm

Have a lovely evening all.

Evening wenches.

Keep falling asleep on the couch after work. Good thing I only work one more day and then a week off.

So it's Slinky & Floof now?

Hope the parental situation gets solved soon Fancy.

Read that they're filming a new version of Pride and Prejudice with Rufus Sewell as Mr Bennet! Well hello Mr Bennet Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 31/07/2025 23:08

Evening all.

Banana skins give off methane (I think, or something) which encourages other fruit to ripen. I remember hearing about that years ago as a way to ripen fruit. Stick them in with the 'ripen at home peaches' and watch the go from solid to rotton in record time Grin
We had rather nice weather this afternoon so i shoudl have put a wash on. Didn't though,

MrH has been busy in the garden chopping and tidying. He helpfully chopped back 'another sodding Damson' and then stopped half way through because he realised there was no hedge behind it, between us and the neighbours, so taking it out would leave a gap. Reader, that was my plum tree which I planted specifically to fill the gap. To give him credit, he was mortified, but FFS I don't now how many times in the past I've told him that it is a plum tree. Maybe I should tie a bright ribbon around it for future reference. At least he asked before he dug up all my beetroot seedlings. Hmm Also, no we don't need more cat food - there is an entire full bag literally next to the tub, leaning against it.

<bangs head off brick wall>
<takes deep breath>

Other than that, today has been all the work and zoom meetings. Aided by DH cooking tea and just calling me down when it was ready, because he's really rather fab like that. and trying to make up for hacking half my plum tree down

We finished Dune Prophecy last night - oooh! DS googled and there is a second series - hurrah! DH has tennis on now, and I think bed would be a good idea. Must remember to check out the new P&P with Rufus Sewell, it has potential...

LetUsPrey · 01/08/2025 07:32

Morning wenches.

Was knackered after ExerciseClass last night.

DH has started to get quite a few tomatoes now but nowhere near as productive as usual. I’ll tell him about the banana skin thing but I’ll get the look because if he’s not thought of it, it can’t possibly be a proper idea.

That wasn’t terribly helpful of MrHelen. Perhaps you will have to put an enormous label on it.

Is that the P&P with Olivia Colman as Mrs Bennet?

Almost there for your time off Wicked!

Must get a move on even though I absolutely do not want to.

Have lovely days wenches.

ApricotCrush · 01/08/2025 17:32

Afternoon. Cloudy all day with a bit of rain, but not enough for the lawn.

Shame about the plum tree Helen. Sometimes it seems that they're just working against us. At least your DH cooked the tea, something I've never experienced. DH is brilliant at most things but cooking is not one of them. Sad

Enjoy your week off WW. The new P&P sounds interesting, will look out for it.

Have a lovely evening all. Wine

Evening all. The problem with later starts, is that I don't get my quiet half hour for an internet mooch and check-in in the morning, Must try harder!

Work was a mess of spreadsheets and emails and invoices, followed by freelancing deadlines. Whoop. Hmm
In other exciting gardening news, the runner beans have gone for a little lie-down. Doooooooooom. So that will be tomorrows 'must fix' job.

LetUsPrey · 01/08/2025 21:47

Evening wenches.

Day of admittedly not much to do until about 2.30pm when several people decided that actually there’s quite a bit of stuff they’d like doing. I’m sure they plan it between them.

Perhaps the runner beans are very tired Helen?

Don’t know if it rained at home but the washing was dry when I got in and that’s what mattered.

Have been getting on with latest knitting project - a sloth. Obviously 😁

LetUsPrey · 02/08/2025 07:36

Morning wenches.

Sun’s out ooooooo. Usual Saturday including meeting BestFriend. Trying to get everything done this morning so I can do not much this afternoon.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 02/08/2025 10:48

Morning all. Cloudy and damp here. I am working. Ineffectively. Which is just dragging it out further. FFS at self!

Have a good day all.

ApricotCrush · 02/08/2025 17:41

Afternoon. Cloudy this morning but it went lovely this afternoon, and I had a sit outside. DH is up a ladder again, painting a bit more of the house, not very high though. Hmm

Oh, I love sloths LetUs, I bet he'll be really cute.

Hope the runner beans recovered.

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 02/08/2025 21:08

Evening all.

DH rescued the runner beans - I'm sure he did an awesome job but I haven't been down to look yet... (I have just been to look - he came up with a much better solution that I would have come up with.)

Otherwise, I've been working, and doing the washing because it turn out nice, much like at Apricot's

I also love a sloth - they always look so happy and chilled. (They're probably not, but you know me - never let reality get in the way of nice idea. Like the idea that we are all moments away from being whisked away by HBFs)

LetUsPrey · 02/08/2025 21:32

Evening wenches.

Have been to Much Washing today, which will be followed by a trip to the Iron Flats tomorrow.

Excellent catch up with BestFriend. We both made oooo noises over a new yarn they’ve got in but were very good and didn’t buy any. Not this time at any rate. Sloth components almost complete and then needs putting together. Have been interspersing it with crochet this afternoon. Sloths do have those lovely sleepy smiles - I shall try to get it just right.

⭐️ for MrHelen and his solution to rescue the runner beans.

MrApricot does love a ladder doesn’t he? I think he should be making up for lost golfing time.

LetUsPrey · 03/08/2025 08:23

Morning wenches.

Dull and damp with a storm on its way.

Usual Sunday of ironing and visiting and hopefully that’ll be as exciting as it gets.

Have great days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 03/08/2025 09:53

Morning all. We are off out today, with umbrellas.

Hope that the trip the to Iron flats goes well LetUs and everywench has a good day!

ApricotCrush · 03/08/2025 17:24

Afternoon. Cloudy but quite bright, no rain. We spent most of the morning trying to access our Virgin Media 02 account as DH's mobile bill is £5 more than it should be. They wanted a different email address to send a code to which DH hasn't got, but wouldn't accept mine so he created another one, told them and they said they would send the code to that one. They didn't. So I tried to get in on my phone account. They asked for my date of birth and postcode and said they didn't match. FFS. It's driven us mad. In the end DH said 'sod it, I'll just pay it'. Argh!

Just to annoy me more, I've just seen an elf-on-the-fucking-shelf on Facebook marketplace. It's the beginning of August. I can't bear it. Angry

Is it too early for Wine?

Hope everyone's had a good day.

FancyFancy · 03/08/2025 17:32

Afternoon.
Have not long rescued the washing from the shower that was very much not forecast here, very unpredictable.

Not the plum tree with the particularly delicious plums Helen Shock? I was just telling DDad about those today and about how they were fabulous in a crumble <drools>

Ooh, interesting ww, although I will feel really old if the hottest man in the show is Mr Bennet 🤣 Mr Bingley has promised, not sure about Mr Darcy.

Blimey, MrA does love a ladder!

Fingers crossed your Sunday delivers the required level of excitementLetus

LetUsPrey · 03/08/2025 19:28

Evening wenches.

Hope your day out wasn’t too rainy Helen.

The most exciting thing today was that the knitted sloth is finished. Visit to the Iron Flats wasn’t as lengthy as feared.

It’s BIL’s birthday soon and I’m still surprised when I go to buy his card that the Christmas cards are already out. That sounds extremely frustrating Apricot re the phone calls etc.

Last part of Karen Pirie tonight.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 03/08/2025 21:28

Evening all.

Had a nice day out, and found that the friend I met had the last part of a trilogy I'd been readying - whoop! So she's lent it to me. Today was a bit damp, but not cold, and we had a really nice hot chocolate after the walk.

That whole thing sounds like a nightmare Apricot - sodding online accounts <side-eyes at recent online plant order>

Fancy - no it was a wild plum type, Mirabelle de Nancy. The first year it's had a decent crop and 2/3 of it is cut down on the ground Angry FFS.

LetUsPrey · 04/08/2025 07:31

Morning wenches.

Sounds a good day Helen, complete with bonus book!

Rain. Lots of it today, and very windy later. Very fortunate we’re not getting the worst of it.

Have great days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 04/08/2025 10:21

Morning. Not enough sleep because my brain was too busy whirring last night to bother about sleep until at least 1:30 FMBrain. Then got up early to get the manshapes out the door to help run SportingSctivityHolidayclub

Woe is me <chugs back some red bull>

(also, v, good book!)

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 04/08/2025 17:42

I can really get used to this not working thingy Grin

Spent yesterday driving around the countryside with sis and niece, visiting lots of nice places for fika and food, I had a burger with parmesan, chocolate cake with raspberry mousse and lemon curd, shrimp sandwich, lemon meringue pie and a strawberry icecream, quite full after that day Smile

Grin at runner beans being tired Letus. I also rewatched the first season of Karen Pirie and started the second season. It's really good.

Christmas cards already out?!😮

Boo for not enough sleep Helen.

Jack Lowden is playing Mr Darcy, he's a cutie but not sure about him as Mr Darcy Hmm

ApricotCrush · 04/08/2025 17:49

Afternoon. Showers this morning and I got caught in one at Sainsbury’s. Sunny this afternoon but very windy.

I’ve got a very loose molar at the back and I can’t leave it alone. It’s now getting a bit painful but I don’t want to go to the dentist and go through the whole rigmarole of local anaesthetic when it really just needs a bit of a tug but I haven’t got the nerve to do it myself. Woe!

Hope the SportingActivityHolidayClub went well and everyone has had a good day.
