Afternoon. Thunder rumbling in the distance but no rain yet.

Oh gosh where do I start with eBay? First of all they now wait 2 days after tracking confirms delivery before they give you the proceeds of a sale; 14 days if no tracking. That’s okay I can live with that. Secondly they advertise that selling is free. Well yes it is, but they have added a ‘Buyer Protection Fee’ to the price of the item so the buyer is now paying extra for something they already had with the Money Back Guarantee. It has killed sales; sellers are leaving in droves. Then thirdly they have introduced ‘Simple Delivery’ which is anything but. You have to get a label or QR code for your parcel from them which you have no control over and it is often wrong and the Post Office won’t accept it.

All this is only for private sellers not businesses. I could go on for hours about the problems it is causing. Vinted also do similar but it’s much more straightforward and people are used to it. Basically eBay have tried to copy Vinted but they have made a complete mess of it and it doesn’t work for much of their platform.

Awww that’s so sweet about the dragon LetUs. So pleased your hard work is appreciated.

Hope WobblyCat is alright.

Evening all. Work has been workish and tiring. The weather has been wet, and also dry and sunny. I have eaten more chocolate that I should have.

Ebay sounds like a right pain. I shall carry on doing the charity shop runs. Sporadically. When there is a massive towering pile of stuff to move on.

WobblyCat is fine and has been sent home with more drugs. Lucky WobblyCat Grin

LetUsPrey · 22/07/2025 07:30

Morning wenches.

Left work early yesterday to try to miss traffic as I was feeling proper ropey - proper medical terminology. Felt rubbish all evening but thank goodness for a decent(ish) night’s sleep. Feeling better than I was this morning.

They really don’t sound like they’ve got that right Apricot at all.

Very good news re WobblyCat Helen.

Suppose I’d better get a move on.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/07/2025 15:15

Not morning. Obvs. but I had a nice late start which meant pinging straight into work. Today's lack of excitement has been laundry and dishwasher. Washing has only just gone out on the line, so I'm expecting rain any time now...

Hope that LetUs is still feeling better and everyone is having a good day.

ApricotCrush · 22/07/2025 16:32

Afternoon. Dull and a bit showery here. I haven’t even looked in the washing basket so no idea what going on in that department.

We’ve got DGS with us for a couple of days a week during the holidays, but he does his own thing and isn’t any trouble.

Hope LetUs is feeling alright and everyone has had a good day.

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/07/2025 20:04

I was right about the rain. I left some out because the forecast I'd been was 'light showers'. The best description for the washing left out is that it's currently draining on the line, we had 2cm of stair rods rain!

LetUsPrey · 22/07/2025 20:46

Morning wenches.

Rain most of the day but thankfully dry since late afternoon.

Feeling much much better than yesterday. Amazing what a difference 24 hours makes.

Watching the football which (again) isn’t going quite as planned. Current knitting project - a tractor and trailer with hay bales.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/07/2025 22:51

LOL at LetUs time travelling there Grin The preview came up and I had a double-take at the 'Morning' comment.
We've had the end of the football on, and I have lugged actual hay bales today. We are twins.

LetUsPrey · 23/07/2025 07:18

Morning <checks> wenches.

Can’t tell you the number of times I’ve typed “morning” instead of “evening” and have corrected myself. One has to slip through <nae> eventually 😁

I put Miss Marple on instead of football, England scored. Watched first half of extra time. Went back to Miss Marple, they got a penalty. I might line up Nemesis to watch when it’s time for Sunday’s final, especially if they play Spain because goddess of revenge etc after they beat us in the World Cup final. This is clearly and scientifically how things work.

Looks a bit gloomy outside again. Already bored of drying washing inside.

Have lovely days wenches.

ApricotCrush · 23/07/2025 17:48

Afternoon. Bit cloudy and miserable here. I went into town this morning to get some birthday cards and other bits and pieces. Sadly, our M&S is closing. Sad
Our lovely department store, Woolworths, Debenhams, Littlewoods, BHS, W.H. Smith, the lovely clothes shops, all gone. We’re supposed to be a city, it’s so sad. They keep coming up with regeneration schemes, we’ve been given grants, but nothing ever happens. <sigh>

Ooooo, the tractor and trailer sound interesting.

Have a good evening all.

FancyFancy · 23/07/2025 20:30

I'm familiar with that tactic Letus - in fact several English football teams won European titles in the 80's because of my well timed toilet visits 😁

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 23/07/2025 20:58

Evening. Another late morning pinging straight into work via a much needed shower to wake up. No interesting knitted projects here.

It's really sad how many shops have gone Apricot. Our closest big town has lost so many shops, it's like a ghost town - and don't get me started on disappearing banks!

We're watching 'Fake or Fortune', which is always vaguely interesting.

LetUsPrey · 23/07/2025 21:57

Evening wenches.

Fancy 😁 😁. I hope they’re grateful for the assistance. DH tried to tell me that it doesn’t make any difference if I’m watching and then not watching. He has no idea.

That also sounds like my WorkTown Apricot. It’s a couple of years since our M&S went and nearly everything else has gone one by one. And you reminded me we had a couple of other (more or less) independent department stores but they shut years ago. It used to be such a treat to go shopping from HomeTown to NearBigTown when I was younger, and then when I started work here an hour at lunch wouldn’t be long enough to have a proper look around. You keep hearing “support your local high street”. Well we’re trying to but it’s getting a bit tricky with no sodding shops.

Tractor and trailer are finished. Quite pleased with it.

Watching the football and then an earlyish night. Although they’ve just gone into extra time.

LetUsPrey · 24/07/2025 07:20

Morning wenches.

It looks like it’s trying to be sunny.

I’ve a parcel due this morning so I’ve told DS2 he has to be up and dressed for 9. He’s absolutely thrilled 😁

I must get on I suppose. Almost must determinedly ignore the possibly odd noise the washing machine is making.

Have great days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 24/07/2025 14:14

Afternoon all. Wall-to-wall grey sky and rain here today. Nothing exciting of note, though WobblyCat has just installed herself part on my lap and part propped up on the desk, so I'm typing around her.

Is it an exciting parcel LetUs? An all-wrapped up home-delivery HBF? Grin We live in delusion hope...

ApricotCrush · 24/07/2025 16:32

Afternoon. Cloudy and dull here but still quite warm.

We went back to the hospital this morning for a follow-up on DH’s arm and saw the surgeon who was lovely, particularly as he said there are no restrictions and DH can go back to golf. Hurrah! Apparently he only missed the main artery by a couple of millimetres. Shock

You got that tractor and trailer project done quickly LetUs.

I’m knitting around a cat Helen.

Grin at Fancy as football tactician.

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 24/07/2025 22:09

Evening all. The weather dried up in the end.

Excellent new that MrA can get back to golf. Very scary how close he came to serious damage Sad I love how we all arrange our lives around the whims of cats. Grin

LetUsPrey · 24/07/2025 22:48

Evening wenches.

It was only a very small tractor and trailer. Took longer to sew it all up than it did to make the bits.

Can just imagine DS2’s face if that sort of parcel arrived 😁. He wasn’t best pleased (and neither was I) because it didn’t actually turn up until almost 3.

That’s excellent news re MrApricot and his return to golf.

We’ve been out tonight for a family thing and I’m quite tired.

LetUsPrey · 25/07/2025 07:05

Morning wenches.

Always fun when one of the houses in your street is having noisy work done and they start with pneumatic drills and grinders and similar very noisy things at 6.30am. Was awake anyway but there’ll be plenty who weren’t. Seems on the unreasonable side tbh.

Friday though so hurrah for that.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 25/07/2025 07:56

Morning all. Urgh to pneumatic drills at 6:30 - YANBU.

I'm straight out after work tonight which will be fun, but also tiring because I didn't get much sleep due to DH dropping his kindle on the floor (waking me up) and DS falling out of bed and requiring a bit of patching up. God knows how he did that, but between the two of them I was awake from midnight to 1pm with my brain doing the 'overdrive' thing when I tried to get back to sleep. urgh urgh urgh. and yawn. (plays teeny tiny violin) At least the forecast is mostly warm and sunny, so that will help keep me awake.

Also, dentist today. Whoop. (Though at least I have one!)

Hope everywench has a good day

ApricotCrush · 25/07/2025 16:47

Afternoon. Lovely day with lots of sun. I got the washing and other jobs done this morning and then we sat outside this afternoon. Sympathies with the pneumatic drill LetUs; someone was using a hedge cutter or something over the road which was very annoying. There’s always something.

Hope the dentist went well Helen. Have a lovely evening all.

OP posts:
FancyFancy · 25/07/2025 21:10

Evening
Has been quite warm here today - made a brief visit to some local castle ruins then home for a few jobs. Did some minor garden pottering - tomatoes are finally ripening which is a relief. A tasty relief.

Hope the dentist went well Helen?

6.30?! I'm fairly sure that's not allowed, the bastards

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 25/07/2025 22:42

Evening all.

Had nice time out after work with nice colleagues, and dentist was v. speedy because nothing needed doing. Hurrah! Am v. tired though.

Our tomatoes have finally started to ripen as well Fancy. The beans and courgettes/marrows are also well under way.

On that unexciting note, I'm heading for the hayloft.

LetUsPrey · 26/07/2025 08:08

Morning wenches.

Spent so long last night undoing several rows of knitting one stitch at a time, the evening rather got away from me.

Re tomatoes - DH usually has quite the bumper crop but his seem to have been late (in my mind) this year too.

Lots of house stuff as usual today. Out tonight at a friend’s house for a party. Not sure what to wear because we’ll be outside a lot and the weather is being stupid. Real problems wenches, real problems.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/07/2025 09:27

Morning all. Nice and warm and sunny. Was woken at 3am by a loud thump of something falling over. Not DS this time, so we wandered the house in bemusement while DH snored on.

I have been sitting outside, until idiotkitty decided to attack my ankles (why else would I sit outside Hmm )

DS is on a promise for a cinema trip this afternoon. If he wakes up in time.
