Evening all. LOL at twin TV characters Wicked, and ouch at the sewing machine Apricot- as long as you didn't get yourself stabbed with the needle as well!

Weather was cloudy and cool most of the day, but warmed up in time for going home, which was the right way round Grin. Fairly horrible traffic though due to an accident closing a main road all day and diverting traffic along my route home. Sad

Hayloft calls. I hope everyone had a good day.

LetUsPrey · 17/07/2025 07:30

Morning wenches.

And this is why characters in tv shows should sometimes wear name badges especially if they look similar.

That sounds sore Apricot

Oh dear at road diversion Helen. Good of the weather to get it right for you 😁

Finished my blanket last night and am on the home stretch with the bloody dragon thing.

We apparently have not finished with the rain. We have rain and thunder forecast for the next few days <entices Fancy>

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 17/07/2025 08:56

Morning all. It's pleasant outside - sunny but not hot. Not sure what the forecast is though. The forecast for DS is 'Xbox all day' with a side order of lying in bed, and underlying phone use throughout.

Hurrah for the bloody dragon LetUs - have the words 'Never again' floated through your mind as well?!

ApricotCrush · 17/07/2025 16:42

Afternoon. Rain on and off all day. Saves all the watering. I went to Sainsbury’s this morning and they’ve changed everything around, so annoying. My bill was cheaper than usual so I know I’ve forgotten stuff.

I’m like that with actors WW, it’s a sort of face blindness. They always seem to cast actors who look alike. It was episode 8 of TM before I could tell Athos and Aramis apart. Shock It was the alley snog that did it. I had to go back and watch it all again. Grin

Well done with the blanket LetUs and good luck with the dragon.

Typical teenager Helen.

I’ve got to go for a heart scan tomorrow. I hope it’s not a man who does it. Apart from the embarrassment factor, they’re very heavy handed and I’ve had painful ribs before.

Evening wenches.

Work was a bit of a day by about 9.30. Have been to ExerciseClass this evening and now I’m rather tired. Was intending to watch the football but have decided to watch the new Mark Gatiss programme, Bookish. Jolly good so far.

The dragon is done and I’m pleased with it. Absolutely though never again!

Such thoroughness and dedication Apricot 😁. Hope the appointment goes well tomorrow.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 17/07/2025 22:04

Evening all. Urgh. Very unproductive day - lots of unanswered emails in my in box still. Did remember to get more drugs for WobblyCat, and picked up food while I was out. Spent ages cooking tea, then when I came to serving up I dropped the pan of potatoes on the way to draining them, hot water and splatted potatoes all over the floor. Sad At least I had the good sense to jump out of the way and not try to catch it all, so no scaldings. Just bloody annoying.

Also took DS out for a drive this evening, which wasn't at all scary Confused He did very well actually. I just hope he's not going to get too many bad habits before he gets proper lessons. Thank goodness for quiet dead end roads!

LetUsPrey · 18/07/2025 07:35

Morning wenches.

Oh blimey re the near miss with the potato water Helen! What a relief you managed to avoid it all. I think DS1 has his driving test soon.

Running a bit behind this morning so I’d better get a shift on.

Good luck today Apricot.

Have great days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 18/07/2025 08:41

Morning all. I'm tiiired <whinge> which is my own stupid fault for working until 1am to get the inbox under control, and then getting up early because I needed to phone someone down under who wasn't replying to emails. I am an utter plank - I was up late enough that I could have phoned last night, and not got up early! Still, domestic chuntering has been done as well - bird food tidied away, dishwasher on, all that jazz. WobblyCat is snoozing next to me on the sofa while I have breakfast and IdiotKitty is outside terrorising the local wildlife.

Good luck today Apricot - if they must send you a male Dr, I'll keep my fingers crossed for Dr Ennis or Dr Athos turning up.

<wanders off to work, waving goodbye to crochet dragon - may you never darken LetUs's doors again.>

I have had an idea for a sewing project. Because I have nothing else to do with my time Hmm...

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 18/07/2025 13:35

30 degrees here. Impossible to be outside Confused

ApricotCrush · 18/07/2025 17:39

Afternoon. Nice day, sun and cloud. Much sympathy WW, that’s too much, I can’t cope with anything over 25 degrees.

Sadly neither Dr Athos nor Dr Ennis showed up, but it was a lady so that was a relief. I’ll get the result by letter in oh, about 4 months if past experience is anything to go by. Hmm

Have a good evening all. Wine

Evening wenches.

Work was awwwwwwwful. But it’s done for the week.

Good news the medical exam went well Apricot. Everything crossed for positive and unusually prompt results.

That all sounds exhausting Helen. <pushes Helen into air conditioning sewing room with full haberdashery selection>

30° is just ridiculous Wicked. Most unreasonable.

We’re still under weather warnings for thunderstorms but none have materialised. Not that I want weather warning level ones but how am I ever to entice Fancy if nothing ever shows up? Can one knit a thunderstorm? (That’ll be the very small vodka talking)

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 18/07/2025 22:34

It's been absolutely roasting today when the sun was out. I think we could all do the the aircon. I saw a forecast today which was simultaneously a lightning warning, and rain but no lightning forecast Hmm I'm sure you could knit a nice big grey cloud with lightning and raindrops falling from it. You could attach the lightning with velcro and have the raindrops attached with thread.

My work was also... annoying. Multiple instances of timesheet, schedule and invoice not matching, and the people who are meant to provide the information being out of office. FFS and all that.

LetUsPrey · 19/07/2025 07:57

Morning wenches.

I’m reading your cloud etc knitting suggestion Helen and I’m nodding, thinking yep yep good idea could do that, and then I came to my senses 😁

Off to the bin with you work and jolly well stay there.

Nothing planned for today. Usual housework and washing etc but that’s about it. My yarn stash has got in a bit of a state so I’ll spend some very pleasant time tidying that.

Have great days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 19/07/2025 09:36

Morning all. I woke up to rain, so I've been sorting out two set of livestock (neighbours away - camping Confused ) and then bucketing water about between full tanks and emptier ones. Got a bit soggy - though not as much as then we found all the blocked gutters etc. All the furry livestock are disgusted with this wet stuff, and 'not going out int that'. The feathery ones ran gleefully out into the wilds, but might be regretting their life choices now.

Today's plan include meeting friends at a beer festival <side-eyes at the weather>

I will be cleaning the carpet later, once DS is awake. <side eyes at WobblyCatVom>

ApricotCrush · 19/07/2025 17:21

Afternoon. Quite a lot of rain, but it's still warm.

Grin at knitting a thunderstorm. .

Hope the weather is kind to the beer festival.

Evening wenches.

Rain most of the day on and off but warm and rather stuffy.

Hope your weather cleared up Helen and you had a good time.

Quiet day really which is just as well because I don’t feel like I’ve properly woken up all day.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 19/07/2025 23:29

Evening. How is it 11:30pm?

We had a nice day, good to catch up with friends but unfortunately no seats outside so we were in a noisy indoor bit and I spent a lot of time going "eh?" and not hearing what was being said. <le sigh>

This evening we watched Trainspotting, which neither of the manshapes had seen before, and neither were quite sure what to make of.

LetUsPrey · 20/07/2025 07:59

Morning wenches.

Trainspotting. That takes me back. Urgh at no seats outside.

Today will be usual Sunday which is absolutely fine. Thunder still not arrived so I’m not sure I believe today’s forecast either.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 20/07/2025 13:28

Morning all. I had a very civilised hour sitting on the garden bench, reading a book. Now I' thinking about all the stuff that needs doing <wilts>

I've no idea what the weather plans to do today, but apparenlty I don't plan to post this Hmm

At actual posting time, it's raining steadily.

FancyFancy · 20/07/2025 15:36

Afternoon. Manic week as expected, am having to finish a bit of work this afternoon - last week I didn't feel I could work all day & come home & work all evening when DDad is here, so I have a few bits & bobs to finish off.

I would like to put in an order for a knitted thundercloud as despite all the thunder warnings over the last few days, have I heard any thunder? Have I buggery <harrumphs>

Commiserations to all wenches dealing with getting DS's organised, hot weather, weetabix lawns and medical appointments.

Did manage an afternoon at the athletics yesterday with the DC, which was fab & have watched a fair bit of the Euros with DDad this week. Also the Tour de France. Hoping I can get some garden-pottering done this week.

ApricotCrush · 20/07/2025 17:01

Afternoon. Weather doesn't know what it's doing here. I heard thunder in the distance earlier but it didn't get any closer. Then we had a massive downpour for about 5 minutes and now the sun's out. Confused

As eBay's in such a mess at the moment, sales are dead, so I've opened an account at Vinted and have been busy putting listings on there. The prices are lower but I can cope with that.

Enjoy your garden pottering Fancy.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 20/07/2025 21:12

Evening all. Is ebay in a mess Apricot? I remember they were making some changes, but I don't remember what. I was about to order a bunch of books via ebay.

Today I have been gardening in the rain, and also sitting on the sofa doing sudokus and trying (failing) to tidy the house. Typical Sunday activities really. Would quite like an early night tonight though.

Fingers crossed for garden pottering next week Fancy, hope the work got finished!

LetUsPrey · 20/07/2025 21:20

Evening wenches.

No thunder here either but lots of heavy rain. <gets knitting needles out>

Boo for finishing work bits but hurrah for athletics and cycling Fancy! Here’s to plenty of garden pottering.

I know several people who really like using Vinted Apricot. Not taken the plunge myself although LittleSis sold a couple of things for me.

The dragon has been delivered to its recipient and said child was very very happy with it so I had a little happy cry when I saw the photos.

Also had a cry at the last few episodes including finale of Derry Girls. Flipping excellent. I binged Outrageous (about the Mitford sisters) yesterday, and have recorded new series of Karen Pirie.

LetUsPrey · 21/07/2025 07:32

Morning wenches.

Didn’t sleep very well and it’s Monday. Whoopdedoo

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/07/2025 08:27

Morning all. I have to take WobblyCat to the vet shortly, and the heavens just opened Sad

I have a colleague who swears by Vinted, but I've only looked on it, never bought and definitely never tried selling anything.
