Morning wenches.

Horrible sleep. House alarm went off in the middle of the night. No sign of intruders and everywhere was still locked up and secure but now thinking we need to get it checked in case it’s a fault and it’ll happen when we’re away. I was distracted though from worrying there might be a burglar as I was thinking “where did DH get that baseball bat from so quickly?”

Seems it’s going to be another warm one today.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 20/06/2025 07:34

Morning all. FFS at burgler alarm LetUs - that's just what you need to add to general stress. Isn't the usual thing a spider in front of the sensor?

Hot and sunny again. I actually put cardboard over the seeds yesterday, to stop the sun sucking all the water out of the soil. I just need to remember to check underneath and take it off once they start sprouting (and put netting over to protect them from the ravenous horde of chickens!

Have a good day all and try not to melt!

ApricotCrush · 20/06/2025 17:07

Afternoon. Still very hot but it’s been cloudy for most of the day. DH came to Sainsbury’s with me because he’s bored and because he needed petrol for the mower. I now have a boot that smells of petrol, broken handles on the bags because he puts too much in them when he’s helping and a bill which was twice as much as it usually is. <sigh>

I hate it when the alarm goes off in the middle of the night, although to be honest, a spider would be frightening as well, but not as much as a burglar. There’s one under our freezer (spider, not burglar) and I’m worried it’s going to come into the kitchen.

Have a good evening all. Wine

Evening
Has been a really busy week at work, don't seem to have had a minute to myself <sighs> I am also a right grumpy bugger in the heat, so that's not really helping Grin

Otherwise, nothing of note really - haven't had time. Would love some rain for the garden and for someone to go bash a few heads together at whichever government department is responsible for the Official Solicitor, but neither is in my control so......

Yikes at bad backs & one-handed lawn mowing. Yay for binge watching s2 of Derry Girls though - love 'The Curse'

LetUsPrey · 20/06/2025 22:30

Evening wenches.

The woman from the alarm company and DH also said about the Not Burglar option. I may borrow the bat in that case. They’re coming tomorrow to check it over anyway.

😁At spider not burglar under the fridge Apricot. I’m now imagining MrApricot in “Teen Mode” scuffing his feet about, saying “but I’m bored”.

None of that sounds fun at all Fancy <cwtch>. I shall sing in your direction and that should bring some rain.

The Curse is the wedding one yes? That was brilliant 😁. They’re all excellent but that was especially so. Into series 3 now with the Sarah quote “if you’re that hot, you should have the common decency to be a bit thick” 😁 😁

Work is now done for just over a fortnight. Woohoo!

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 20/06/2025 23:20

2 weeks off - bliss - enjoy it LetUs!

Sympathies on having to deal with a bored MrA Apricot - can you set him on spider watch?

Have you been working away again Fancy? We're needing rain too - I'm back to lugging a watering can about the garden.

DS needed new trainers, so I took him shopping. I also took one of his old trainers with me in the car so I knew which one. It was in the car all through the long hot day. Oh dear god - the smell. It was like chemical warfare! <boak> He does have new trainers now though, and the old ones are going in the outside bin!

LetUsPrey · 21/06/2025 07:45

Morning wenches.

Your poor car Helen, and your poor nose! Not that I take off my shoes when I get in from work on a hot day and leave them outside for the evening or anything.

Sunny here for noe but we have rain and thunderstorms forecast from the middle of the day.

Today will be holiday prep and packing, or at least that’s the evening plan.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/06/2025 12:13

Morning. It's a hot one (peak heat forecast today). The boys are off to SportingActivity with water pistols ('pistols' is hardly accurate given the size of the things!)

I have rolled out of bed in a mess of hot stickiness (niagw) to feed all livestock and while more sleep would be welcome, a warm bed isn't really.

This weekend I'm helping set up for a local fete. (but apparently didn't hit 'post')

FancyFancy · 21/06/2025 14:14

Afternoon
Hot here too, cloudy at the moment but no rain forecast sadly.

Have been watching the 2009 Emma series, very enjoyable. Not sure why on earth I didn't see it at the time!

ApricotCrush · 21/06/2025 16:58

Afternoon. We had some rain this morning, just as I was pegging the sheets out. Hmm. It wasn’t enough but it helps I suppose. Still very hot, I’m dragging myself around, but it’s a bit cooler tomorrow according to the forecast.

Oh Fancy hope things sort themselves out soon. <cwtch>

You never stop Helen, I don’t know how you do it.

Do you go away tomorrow LetUs? Have a lovely time.

Hope WW and Fräsan are alright.

Evening, very hot (greenhouse hit 40), no rain. The washing baked on the line, so that was handy and I did a bit of garden stuff, but otherwise, just fete prep. Oh - I did also go back to bed in the end and got more sleep, despite WobblyCat yowling at me and IdiotKitty chirruping about the place

LetUsPrey · 21/06/2025 20:48

Evening wenches.

You know why you’ve all had no or hardly any rain? Because we had it allllll. Managed to get two loads dried before the heavens opened mid-morning. Very warm though.

Holiday is indeed tomorrow. All packed except for anything that needs to be used in the morning.

Enjoy the fete Helen.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/06/2025 07:09

Morning all. Safe travels LetUs - have a lovely break!

Hot and sunny, and a bit breezier than they forecast yesterday. Gazebos will need to be well secured I think!

Apricot, I do it <nlt> on sleep deprivation and adrenaline I think. Once we're past the end of the month I hope that things will calm down a bit! Work deadlines will have whooshed past and I'll get a load more new ones and fete/events/stuff are finished.

LetUsPrey · 22/06/2025 07:57

Morning wenches.

Hope it goes well today Helen. We’ve already clouded over here and it looks quite breezy.

Brain doing the usual fretting thing but all will be grand.

Have lovely days wenches.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 22/06/2025 14:54

Have a wonderful vacation Letus 😎

I'm working one more week at the workplace from hell and then off for three weeks, can't wait.

ApricotCrush · 22/06/2025 16:46

Afternoon. More rain this morning, but not much. Cloudy since and not so hot.

Hope the fete went well Helen.

Safe journey LetUs, enjoy your holiday.

Yay for three weeks off WW.

Evening

Am envious of all the impending holidays! I'm off towards the end of July & until then will be very busy <bores self again>

Working away again next week, luckily the forecast is cooler which will be so welcome.

Very kind of you to spare us a sprinkling of your rain letus - about one watering can full I think Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/06/2025 23:12

Evening all. Fete went well, if a bit breezy. Dry though. Then I went to an open air theatre thing which was great fun. Met up with a friend who laughed at my new sunhat and said I looked like and old mad person Hmm Grin Bless her.

I am knackered though. 3 weeks holiday sounds blissful Wicked - have you got plans? Curls up unobtrusively in a corner of LetUs's suitcase.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 23/06/2025 08:59

Morning all. Lots of wind and rain overnight which woke me up. Today I will be powered by caffeine and matchsticks.

Hope that working away doesn't involve too much of a commute Fancy.

Have a good day all.

LetUsPrey · 23/06/2025 11:24

Morning wenches.

Safely arrived. Hotel nice but WiFi patchy. Waiting (hopefully) for the sun to burn through the clouds.

I’m sure your hat looks super Helen.

Hope all wenches are well and have lovely days.

ApricotCrush · 23/06/2025 17:27

Afternoon. We’ve had a bit more rain but not much.

Hope you’re not working too far away Fancy.

Grin at old mad person. Surely not Helen.

Glad you’ve arrived safely and the hotel is nice LetUs. Have a lovely time.

We’re off to the hospital tomorrow for stitches to be removed. I hope they don’t wrap it all up again; DH is really fed up not being able to use his arm. He got the dressing wet this morning in the shower in spite of trying to cover it up. Hmm

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 23/06/2025 21:31

Fingers crossed for tomorrow Apricot. Not being able to get it wet it a complete pain.

I hope the sun came out LetUs, but doesn't get unpleasantly hot.

I bought one of these hats https://www.rosamoss.co.uk/products/the-rosamoss-gardeners-hat having balked at the price last year, and then regretted not having one through all the hot dry spells this year. Then there they were at one of this year's many events, so I got one Grin

Morning all. It's <gasp> cloudy, and cool outside!

Have a good day all
<pours Pims and adjusts sunbed for LetUs>
<clears traffic out of way for Fancy>
<issues three-line whip to Dr for MrA>
<waves pom-poms for Wicked - holiday is nearly here!>

LetUsPrey · 24/06/2025 10:03

Morning wenches.

I think that’s an excellent hat Helen.

Hope appointment goes well today Apricot, and the working away isn’t too far Fancy, and that all is okay with Wicked.

Have lovely days wenches.

ApricotCrush · 24/06/2025 16:57

Afternoon. Quite a nice day, windy but warm

Well, DH has had the cast and stitches removed and now has a small dressing and a splint which he can take off when he’s doing nothing. BUT, no golf for SIX weeks. Horror!! Apparently he cut half way through one of the tendons and golf is the worst thing he can do to stop it healing and it might snap it altogether. Shock

I like your hat Helen. Smile
