Morning wenches.

Back to it today. Dry for now but I think we have rain on and off for the rest of the week.

Just realised traffic will be a bit quieter because of half term. Hurrah!

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/05/2025 08:44

Morning all. It's damp here, but not sure what the actual forecast is.

LOL at Norbots - they would be really helpful. I ache and ache and ache. I'm clearly not built for 3 days of 'on you feet 7am-8pm' these days. And now back to work as well. erk. I did get a huge cake as a 'thank you' though, which was very sweet. Though badly timed since DS has a huge birthday cake and DH is trying to not eat lots of caky things.

DH did washing yesterday while I was out and about and didn't bring it all in before the rain. Then couldn't bring it in at all due to a baby blue tit sitting on it. (Baby blue tit's feathers may or may not have been found in the dining room this morning Sad)

Must sort out breakfast quickly... (cake! Grin))

<pinches flapjack>

FancyFancy · 27/05/2025 10:16

Morning
WFH today as DD is here - we did a pub quiz last night, we did respectably given there were only 2 in our team.

I refuse to believe those were baby blue tit feathers, in the manner of detail over that duckling in Patagonia.

Celebrate the small wins Letus 😁

Am impressed that the boyfriend passed the family lunch test apricot, good lad!

ApricotCrush · 27/05/2025 16:27

Afternoon. Chucking it down this morning and most of the afternoon, but it's brightened up a bit now. I did a food shop and some local jobs and got a tad wet. Oh, just looked outside and it's raining again. Hmm

I haven't been able to find a new knitting project so I've unpicked a jumper I knitted a few years ago which I never wore as it came up too small. It's nice yarn, so I'm re-doing it in a different style, and with more stitches obviously.

Well done to Fancy and DD on the pub quiz. Hope Helen's aches have calmed down, and LetUs has had an acceptable day.

Evening wenches.

Traffic and car park both disappointingly busy. Harrumph. Non-stop at work too, but obviously not as busy as the people who have to tell you how incredibly busy they are, usually for about 20 minutes at a time whilst NC and I carry on.

I will never not be impressed by your own knitting pattern design skills Apricot. Mind blowing to me.

That definitely counts as a success on the pub quiz Fancy, given that there were only two of you.

It’s quite amazing how all the cake arrives at once Helen, and also coincides with people wanting to avoid cake <side eyes at DH here>

Also rain here.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/05/2025 21:33

We had rain too - hurrah! The garden is soggy. I did work today, but not very productively what with pancake cooking, and vet visit (WobblyCat's ongoing treatment plan), icing a cake, and stuff. All cakes are v. good though Grin

Impressive quizzing results Fancy and knitting skills for Apricot - wenches are just generally impressive. I'm anticipating a quiet day at work tomorrow LetUs - most of the team are on leave, so hopefully I'll have better luck with traffic and cars.

LetUsPrey · 28/05/2025 07:15

Morning wenches.

Woke up in the night and could hear the rain pelting down. Seems to have stopped for now.

Hope WobblyCat’s ongoing treatment is having a positive effect.

We are an impressive bunch aren’t we?

Here’s to quiet traffic and peaceful days.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/05/2025 07:54

Morning all. We also have the rain here this morning (about 2cm since it started last week), IdiotKitty is a bit cross about it. I will dig out winder boots and splosh my way into work...

Have a good day all.

ApricotCrush · 28/05/2025 16:45

Afternoon. Sun and showers this morning, so I stupidly put a wash out and did the hokey cokey with it. I gave in in the end and left it. It's probably as wet now as when I put it out. <sigh>

Hope WobblyCat's treatment helps her.

We're watching Whitechapel from around 2009 I think. I don't know how that escaped us at the time. It's about Jack the Ripper copycat murders and very gory but good.

Have a lovely evening all.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 28/05/2025 19:23

Evening.

Awful day at work. Think I might have another glass of wine.

I watched Whitechapel recently Apes I liked it.

Hope everything is going well with WobblyCat. I haven't started Fräsan's treatment yet, the pills were huge so got a prescription for a liquid form instead, ordered it online but it's delayed. But she's fine so nothing to worry about.

That sounds really scary about your DD Fancy. Hope she's doing ok now.

LetUsPrey · 28/05/2025 20:31

Evening wenches.

Finish the bottle Wicked, might as well. Hope Fräsan’s drugs arrive soon.

There does come a point doesn’t there Apricot with washing where you just think “oh sod it”.

A friend mentioned Whitechapel too recently. What a coincidence.

I loved the new BBC show Death Valley, perfect knitting/crochet accompaniment. Also massively enjoying Panda on More4, one of their foreign tv shows. No knitting at the same time though as my French is nowhere near being able to understand more than about one word out of 200 😁.

Back from dentist after a lengthy appointment re replacement crown(s) and a bridge. Next appointment in two weeks.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/05/2025 22:03

Evening all. Work was workish. Weather was sunshine and showers. DS has put Bruce Almighty on, which would be better if I could stand Jim Carry. Hmm
Ouch re. the dentist LetUs - hope that all goes smoothly.

(I haven't watched Whitechapel.)

LetUsPrey · 29/05/2025 07:09

Morning wenches.

Dark and miserable and rainy here.

Hope FancyDD is okay now. Urgh to film.

As per usual with a bank holiday week, this short week seems like a very long week. Almost there though.

Have great days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 29/05/2025 09:10

Morning all. Damp outside and cloudy, but the sun is breaking through. Today's excitement is the optician.

KillerKitty has had a mouse outside while I was doing the chickens, plus a bowl of catfood, so has no excuse for being hangry.

I'm using a the back massager (because I ache), before heading off to opticians for the latest in the saga of new glasses. (Trying bifocals today, and will order more if they work.) Quelle excitement! Hmm

FancyFancy · 29/05/2025 13:08

Afternoon
DD seeming rather better thanks, so fingers crossed.

Whitechapel? I think that has Rupert Penry Jones in it? Definitely worth watching Grin
Am still catching up from earlier in the week <sighs and gets back to work>

ApricotCrush · 29/05/2025 16:45

Afternoon. Mostly cloudy but no rain, so washing dried.

Why do they make the tablets so big WW? I don't blame you for getting the liquid. That's bad enough to administer. Hmm

It certainly has Fancy. He's definitely on the list. Grin Glad DD's better.

Hope the dental treatment was successful LetUs and Helen's optician visit went well.

LetUsPrey · 29/05/2025 20:20

Evening wenches.

It’s been sirens all the live long day in my work town today. Nothing particular in the local news though. When they finally stopped a car alarm took over.

Really flipping windy. Almost got blown back towards the office when walking to the car park but my determination won through 😁

Here’s hoping for a positive resolution from the optician Helen.

I’m trying Patience which is the UK version of Astrid: Murder in Paris. Verdict so far is hmmmm.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 29/05/2025 22:50

Evening. I have new glasses (yay) and bi-focals Hmm We'll see. The bi-focals are an experiment, and I'm not sure it they're set quite right.

Work was interrupted today by the last of the packing up from the weekend, and then a visit from a cousin and her small person. So I've been working this evening. <le sigh>

FFS at sirens and alarms LetUs. We had wind too, but not too bad, and apparently there will be less this weekend, so washing will be backed, rather than blown dry. Speaking of which, it was weirdly warm today.

Time to head for the hayloft. Am a bit knackered.

LetUsPrey · 30/05/2025 07:05

Morning wenches.

That sounds another exhausting day for you Helen. Fingers crossed for the new glasses.

Took ages to get to sleep last night and then it’s been weird dreams and urgh.

Checked the forecast. Tomorrow’s dry day has gone, but still feels warm here too.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 30/05/2025 12:28

Afternoon all. I slept in - oops. Though not this late. It's sunny and cloudy and that's about it. Do try to control your excitement Hmm Grin

ApricotCrush · 30/05/2025 16:20

Afternoon. Cloudy and a bit showery but it is warm.

I've had an email from the vet saying a six-month health check is 'recommended' for Misty. This is the vet I got lost trying to find last December and not the one she usually sees, who had closed temporarily but I think are now open again. From the medical records I have she's never had a six-month check-up only a 12-month one, and I can't help thinking the vet is trying it on. Do any of the TavCats have this?

Hope the glasses work for you Helen.

Have a lovely evening all. Wine

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 30/05/2025 21:47

Evening wenches.

I don’t recall LetUsCat having six month check ups. Just a check up when he went for annual boosters.

Warmed up nicely late afternoon and I even got a wash out after work for an hour. Stop me if I’m adding too much to the excitement levels created by Helen 😁

Really must try for an early night and hope to be able to get to sleep. A lack of completely mad dreams would also help.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 30/05/2025 23:52

Evening all.
<keels over in excitement at the concept of an 'after work wash' on the line>

Actually, today's excitement was:

  • forensic accounting at work - "why don't your figures match my figures...?" I'm pretty much there, but ground to a halt due to lack of data.
  • Also, freelance deadlines working in US time zones (late night emails).
  • And also biking back home from Dads this evening, was astounded to see a fox cub trotting up the road towards me... which rapidly turned out to be a small reddish dog, which turned tail and ran when I called it over. Readers, I chased the small dog (papillon or chihuahua?) up and down our road about 3 times on my bike and ran it into the ground before DS came out to help and managed to pick it up. Fortunately it had a collar and we got hold of the owners who were mightily relieved and grateful. (IdiotKitty was outraged and the presence of a dog in his house - proper bottle-brush tail and fluffed out in indignation.

So that was my day. Tomorrow will be hot apparently <wilts> We have never had a 6 month check, other than 'bring your cat to see us, we can repeat prescribe any more without seeing it".

Hayloft calls. Night all.

LetUsPrey · 31/05/2025 07:49

Morning wenches.

Helen I’m not sure how you’re still going after all that. You must be exhausted (although I know the answer is because we have to). Well done on the dog rescue!

I keep reading about this heatwave. Definitely not here but that’s fine by me, as long as it stays dry. It won’t,

Meeting BestFriend for a chat and so I can stock up for new (overly ambitious) project.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 31/05/2025 08:58

Morning all. The manshapes made a huge kerfuffle getting out of the house this morning, so no lie-in for me (just mooching online). Am going to hit the garden. Also vet trip for WobblyCat who will be delighted Hmm and catching up with family. <throws work in the bin>
