Evening. No rain or thunder here, which did mean I got two loads of washing through the machine and dry on the line. Also lots of work done.

Our weekender neighbours are selling their house - we might end up with actual people living next door full time [horror]

IdiotKitty is in the doghouse - he brought him in a mouse and we threw him back out with it. We should have kept him in, because he was back in in seconds with a fledgling robin Sad

LetUsPrey · 12/05/2025 21:35

Evening wenches.

Oh IdiotKitty that’s quite naughty, very catlike, but naughty. Am wishing for some sort of silent religious order moving in next door to you Helen.

Tiny bit of rain as I set off this morning, lovely whilst I was in the office, started getting windy as I left work and it’s still quite breezy.

FancyFancy · 12/05/2025 22:30

Evening

Feeling marginally better today, but still not 100%, not helped by ongoing parental issues today <sigh>

In better news - the thunder did make it to us today, including a couple of really loud thunderclaps, made us all jump Grin. Also had some rain which was very welcome. Another WTF is going on in town moment today - circling helicopter & one shop sealed off with police tape & an officer on guard outside.

<cwtches> to all with TavCat worries and a hard stare to IdiotKitty

All that good weather is wasted on a day in the office letus! And yay for getting the washing in apricot - immensely satisfying Grin

LetUsPrey · 13/05/2025 06:40

Morning wenches.

That all sounds a bit crap Fancy with the lingering cold and the ongoing parental issues. All go near you isn’t it? But yay for thunder!

Sunny here. Crap sleep and weird dreams mean I got up much earlier than usual so there’s a wash on and I read for a bit. I’ll be useless later at work, probably by about 11 😁

Have great days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 13/05/2025 11:48

Morning all.

Sorry to hear about ongoing issues still Fancy Sad. Also, will send Dr Aramis over to sort you out. (and provide a remedy for your cold while you're there. It may involve time in bed. Or up against al wall. etc etc. Also, if you are running a temperature, you'll def. need to strip off.)

LetUs - you are never useless. (You are 'differently effective'. Grin) Dr Aramis also recommends best rest for you. You and Fancy can sort out a rota between you. Bad nights sleep can get in the bin.

IdiotKitty has further disgraced himself by not even eating last night's baby bird. Next door's tractors were crashing about and scared him indoors, so he forgot about it. Poor wasted baby bird Sad I lobbed it over the hedge at said tractors this morning.

There's probably other stuff I could witter about, but I don't remember. Back to work again for me...

ApricotCrush · 13/05/2025 16:43

Afternoon. Sunny all day, we spent the afternoon in the garden. No washing to do which feels like a waste of a good drying day.

Sorry about your ongoing parental problems Fancy and your cold. Grin at Dr. Aramis’s remedies.

Hope LetUs managed to stay awake.

Evening wenches.

Differently effective. I’m keeping that.

Fancy I think will be better with Doctor Aramis. I’m so tired and have a headache. Woe woe etc.

Poor baby bird, although I now have You’re Gorgeous swirling around my head 😁

Friend of mine said there’s a bit in Derry Girls (which I’ve still not watched) where one character says something about washing like “there’s no shame in doing a half load Mary”. I mean though, the very notion!

FancyFancy · 13/05/2025 20:46

Well if there's one thing Team A have a talent for, it's a rota Grin

OMG, that is one of my favourite scenes in Derry Girls letus, and that's saying something as it doesn't even have Sister Michael in it. I almost envy you getting to watch it for the first time, it is so good!

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 13/05/2025 21:41

Love Derry Girls. Haven't finished watching it though since the Manshapes sort of 'lost interest' and 'didn't feel like it' <channels Sister Michael for an eye roll>

I have worked and stuff. Need to make lunch for tomorrow though... <beetles off for more domestic stuff>

LetUsPrey · 14/05/2025 06:51

Morning wenches.

I shall see if I can get Derry Girls downloaded and go for it.

Finished We Solve Murders by Richard Osman this morning. Had to pace myself otherwise I would have finished it Sunday. Loved it.

It’s sunny and I’m going to hang out the washing before getting on with the boring part of the day, ie getting ready for and going to work and being at work.

Have lovely days wenches.

ApricotCrush · 14/05/2025 17:09

Afternoon. Another lovely day. I haven’t watched Derry Girls, but I googled that clip and omg that is so me. I flatly refuse to do a wash unless the machine is full. Having said that I think it was a little too full today as I pushed the summer duvet in but it came up well and is now on the bed. The winter duvet will be in the bath tomorrow but that will take a few days to dry as I can’t spin it.

Have a good evening all.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/05/2025 18:59

Morning all. Bright and sunny and BoringOfficeJob calls... best get dressed!

Have a good day all.

...

Apparently I didn't hit 'post'. It's still bright and sunny though.

LetUsPrey · 14/05/2025 19:54

Evening wenches.

Corrr that’s hardcore with the duvets Apricot. I’m very impressed.

Work was worky, weather was sunny, and I’ve been knitting but I’m putting off stuffing and sewing together all the bits. There are a lot of bits.

LetUsPrey · 15/05/2025 07:08

Morning wenches.

Sunny again. It looks to be like this on the forecast until the Saturday of the bank holiday weekend when it clouds over. Obviously.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 15/05/2025 08:46

Morning all, cloudy here, but it's forecast to burn off without doing anything as useful as producing some rain.

Am tiiiiiiiiiiiiiired. <whinge> Which is mostly self inflicted because I just faffed around online last night instead of going to bed early. <le sigh>

ApricotCrush · 15/05/2025 17:34

Afternoon. Cloudy for most of the day but it’s brightened up now.

The winter duvet was washed in the bath and it took two of us as it was really heavy when wet. We let it drip for a few hours and it’s now suspended on my two lines. I shall leave it out to get darked on. Grin

That sounds fiddly LetUs but I’m sure your efforts will be much appreciated when finished.

LetUsPrey · 15/05/2025 20:55

Evening wenches.

Nice and sunny all day but fairly breezy.

Washing a winter duvet AND letting it get darked on. You are hardcore at the laundry lark Apricot 😁

I’ll never learn not to knit things that have lots of bits to stuff and sew together. I never get it quite right. And one of the things is a figure so I have to put a face on it which tends to go a bit Picasso. Ah well.

Tired here too Helen but mine was repeated waking up in the night for the bathroom and then leg/foot/ankle cramps. Ouch.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 15/05/2025 21:25

That all sounds massively fiddly LetUs - LOL at the picasso though. I remember making a doll once where the face was drawn on. I drew it too low and it looked like Uncle Fester (no neck) Grin
Lots of too-ing and fro-ing today, including vet with WobblyCat try try out new treatment. She's asleep beside me, so it hasn't made her worse, at least.
I don't think I've ever washed a duvet. Does that make me minging?

LetUsPrey · 16/05/2025 07:16

Morning wenches.

<snort> at Fester doll. Poor WobblyCat - hope the new treatment does the trick. Don’t think I’ve washed a duvet either, no hang on, might have done a single size summer one a few times.

Sunny again which is nice to wake up too.

Have great days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 16/05/2025 07:43

Morning all. Cloudy here again, so less need to traipsing about with gallons of water - hurrah!

Best crack on... <wafts positive vibes rougn the Tav, and HBFs>

ApricotCrush · 16/05/2025 17:08

Afternoon. Lovely day, not a cloud in the sky. The duvet is done and put away. You’re not minging at all Helen. Our duvet is donkey’s years old and most people would just chuck it and buy another, but I’m mean. I grew up after the war when it was really tough and food and clothing were rationed. I got used to the ‘make do and mend’ ethos and it never really leaves you.

Hope WobblyCat’s new treatment helps her.

Grin at bit Picasso and Uncle Fester.

Evening
Lovely clear day here, but quite chilly - mind you I do have the windows open for Chonk & Floof, hoping Chonk doesn't bring me another mouse tonight........

Not too much to report, work, do a few chores, phone calls about parents & watching Eurovision. Didn't finish the second semi-final yesterday so will finish watching it tonight. DD is working tomorrow night so we are both hoping to avoid spoilers until Sunday lunchtime when we plan on watching it.

<high fives apricot, my no-half-loads-twin> Grin

LetUsPrey · 16/05/2025 20:45

Evening wenches.

Not a bad day work wise for a change.

You were just a strong forerunner of the recycling ethos Apricot. I’d rather reuse or make do than buy new, but I think some of that for me is down to laziness (and the avoidance of discussions with DH about what to buy).

No Eurovision for me either as I’m out at a family party.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 16/05/2025 22:56

Evening. I came downstairs this morning to a suspiciously not-bothered-about-food KillerKitty. He flomped in the utility room and stared impassively at me while I got his food. So I got on with making my breakfast, then turned around to find he'd retrieved the back end of a rabbit from under a cupboard and was rolling about on the floor with it. FFS. I herded him out with it and went wandering about with a cloth and cleaning spray...

Other than that, work and taxi-ing DS, and gardening. No sun to speak of today.

<cwtch> re. ongoing parenting traumas Fancy - hope they don't interrupt your Eurovisioning this weekend. There'll be none of that here because DH doesn't like it.

It's much easier to just make do if you can, that having to go and research/choose/buy new stuff.

LetUsPrey · 17/05/2025 07:37

Morning wenches.

Oh IdiotyKitty, keep it outside. Unless you can learn to use a cloth and cleaning spray which I doubt.

My promised sunshine hasn’t materialised just yet.

Have lovely days wenches.
