Morning all. I can confirm that DS can beat me at all wii sports games, apart from Archery, where I can unaccountably channel Legolas (minus the super-swishy hair and dwarvish best friend). There was no damage, fortunately - all controllers stayed attached to us.

Today: work, taxi, hospital, taxi, work, taxi, eat, sleep. I need to contact my car insurance and increase my insured milage Sad

ApricotCrush · 20/01/2025 16:57

Evening. Still cloudy and damp, in fact it looks as if it's raining now but I can't see properly as it's dark. I've been sorting photos out from Christmas/New Year.

Glad that MrH is feeling a bit better and hope he will be home soon.

Evening wenches.

Two lots of roadworks have gone! Hurrah! Traffic was still shit! Booooo!

Helengolas I am inexplicably better than DS2 at the slicing random things in half game on Wii Sports.

Rain here for much of the day.

Would that count as vocabulary that expands to fit Wicked? 😁

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 20/01/2025 22:04

Evening. No rain here yet - just cloudy and cold.

Good to hear that ChateauFancy is nearly redecorated. Imaging the fun you'll have putting thing back! Hmm Hope that FancyMan and the DCs are helping with all the lifting and shifting.

<arf> at 'Helengolas' - I thought there had been a typo to start with (I'm forever hitting the backspace key on my phone instead of 'm', so words run into each other.)

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/01/2025 07:16

Morning all. It's daaaaaark, but there are breaks in the cloud! We might see some sun! Wobbly cat is on my lap hoping that I'll stay put, and turf her off to feed the chickens.

Hope everyone has a good day and traffic is kind.

LetUsPrey · 21/01/2025 07:24

Morning wenches.

Let Helen feed the chickens and then settle back on her lap WobblyCat.

Dark here too. Everything is urgh and I really can’t be arsed.

Have lovely days wenches.

ApricotCrush · 21/01/2025 17:37

Evening. Same weather, dull and grey. We went to the local garden centres this afternoon for a look round. The one has a nice shoe department and DH bought some shoes.

That thread is bonkers WW.

Yay for fewer roadworks and decorating going well.

How’s MrHelen doing?

I know Apes, I really LOL:ed at "tampon changing room", I mean just a cubicle to change the tampon? I would get blood everywhere Confused

LetUsPrey · 21/01/2025 19:58

Evening wenches.

Hope MrHelen is getting closer to coming home.

It’s a good job they’ve started putting History Hits on BBC Sounds otherwise I’d be in danger of running out of things to listen to on the journey to and from work.

Trips to garden centres and shoe browsing sounds an excellent way to spend time.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/01/2025 21:18

Evening all. There was a very scenic sunrise this morning - big golden orb rising over the marshes. Then it clouded over again.

Work has been annoyingly unproductive today due to NHS wifi being shite, and due to me being disorganised.

DH is improving, I'm hoping he'll be home for the weekend, but they haven't given us any clues other than 'not today'.

FancyFancy · 21/01/2025 21:47

Evening
Boo to all the roadworks letus, you must be sick of them all.

That was a mad thread ww
There seems to be more and more of them, I do wonder how many are started by bots or people just shitposting now.

Going round garden centres sounds relaxingapricot, with the added bonus of keeping MrA from climbing onto roofs 😁

Fingers crossed for MrHelen's speedy return. It'll be 'not yet' until suddenly it'll be 'now' and you'll have to scramble to go and get him. But at least that's a nicer problem to have!

LetUsPrey · 22/01/2025 07:17

Morning wenches.

Fancy speaks the truth re the sudden “ready to leave now!”

It’s dark and it’s Wednesday. This does not feel like a winning combination. All the urgh.

Have great days wenches.

FancyFancy · 22/01/2025 10:02

Morning. Am working from home today - am looking out at a very grey & damp looking day.

Am finding MN awful at the moment - it causes Chrome to freeze on my phone & on my laptop I keep getting scam anti-virus pop-ups or get re-directed to a blank page, seems there have been issues for months.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 22/01/2025 10:55

Same thing happening for me Fancy, was worried there was something wrong with my computer.

ApricotCrush · 22/01/2025 16:46

Afternoon. Grey and dismal here, very January-ish. I went to post a parcel and do a Sainsbury shop this morning.

MN is okay for me at the moment, but it can go a bit haywire sometimes. I get a black screen with a swirly thing in the middle and it tells me to rotate my device. Most annoying.

We're still ploughing through Shetland, we're on series 6 now.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 22/01/2025 19:27

Evening wenches.

Stupid MN issues. Happened at work the other day (was only browsing, not logged in).

Quite foggy this morning which cleared to dull and damp.

Short day which gave me chance to soak and pin out the little cardigan/jacket.

There’s a new series being made set in/on Orkney with the Jimmy Perez character in it.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/01/2025 20:16

Evening all. MN is mostly fine for me - it just takes a while to load up pages, but no swirly things or pop-ups on my laptop. (I'm browsing via DuckDuckGo, which is a demon for blocking pop-ups and tracking - when I open a new window it tells me how many tracking things it's blocked, and MN is truly horrendous!)

It has also been dull and damp here all day. DH is still resident in the hospital and might come home tomorrow. Or might not. Work was busy and that's about it. DS is doing homework that's due tomorrow and I'm doing sudoku. I should be looking at freelance work because it's piling up and I'm not getting as much done <side-eyes at useless hospital wifi and the hours that are being chewed up in commuting there and back> WobblyCat has just arrived to sit on me.

LetUsPrey · 23/01/2025 07:31

Morning wenches.

You really do need more hours in the day Helen, but seeing as that’s not possible, hopefully MrHelen will be home soon and you can shelve your headless chicken (no offence to the chickens) impersonation.

Dark still. Expecting lots of wind and rain but that seems to be a countrywide thing.

Have good days wenches.

LetUsPrey · 23/01/2025 08:03

Just checked - bad weather is tomorrow. Shouldn’t be allowed on a Friday.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 23/01/2025 10:28

Morning all. Weather-wise, I think it's the calm before the storm here (though the storm isn't nearly as bed here as elsewhere). (Re reading that, I have a clam in front of my storm - now corrected, but it's an entertaining image of lots of little clams trying to shuffle along ahead of bad weather!)

DH will not be home today - he had a temperature spike last night, and the blood tests have shown nothing useful. FFS.

ApricotCrush · 23/01/2025 16:44

Afternoon. Damp and drizzly. The storm doesn't look too bad here, it just says gusty winds and sunny. Might get some washing out and hope it doesn't blow away.

Ooo, that's interesting about Jimmy Perez LetUs.

Sorry MrHelen has had a setback Helen. Hope he's better soon.

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 23/01/2025 20:16

Evening. No news here, but far too much freelance work. argh.....

Hope everyone's had a good day. Weather has been a bit miserable here, but not that bad.

LetUsPrey · 23/01/2025 20:17

Evening wenches.

Oh flipping heck re poor MrHelen. That sounds rather horrid. Everything crossed for you all. Hope the clams got to safety.

<passes extra pegs to Apricot>

Am going to try for an early night in the vain hope I’ll get some decent sleep.

FancyFancy · 23/01/2025 22:00

Sorry to hear that helen

Have been to work, come home. That feels like it really <bores self> decorating should be finished tomorrow so looking forward to a weekend of putting some things back where they belong.
