Evening wenches.

Lovely weather today. Didn’t even zip up my coat when I left work. But then decided it was still quite breezy before I got halfway up the street so zipped up anyway Grin

Also in exciting news I’ve been checked the Entertainment Exchange (CEX) website every so often for stock of a certain box set at my local branch. I am now the proud owner of the Cadfael DVD box set Grin

Oooo new caravan Apricot! All ready for lots of new memories.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 08/05/2024 21:51

Evening all. It wasn't as warm as it looked today, though not cold. Work was non-stop again and I am very tired now so I'd like a bit of a break. Meanwhile, exams proper start tomorrow. I may try to pull my finger out and make flapjacks as a post-exam treat for DS.

Hurrah for the boxed set LetUs - how satisfying. (That's the Derek Jacobi series, yes?) Also hurrah for the new caravan.. I'm sure you'll love it Apricot - once you're used to it not being the old one! Safe travels tomorrow.

Hope that Fancy and Wicked are ok.

FancyFancy · 08/05/2024 23:12

Biscoff flapjacks you say? <drools>

Had a very pleasant few days away - stayed with a friend from school for a couple of nights, dropped in on the parents & saw a band at a festival one afternoon. Friend also has a couple of sociable cats so I was able to provide cat hot water bottle services even while away from home.

Have had to apologise to Chonk & Floof after witnessing the real phantom garden crapper in action - MrsFox was caught in the act, but I did chase off MrFox before he followed suit. Suspect from the appearance of MrsFox that there are cubs nearby too.

Back at work today, can't say I was thrilled at the prospect. Have decided I prefer gadding around & visiting people, but sadly that has to be paid for somehow <sighs>

Morning wenches.

Never a career option is it - gadding about and visiting people and being cat hot water bottles. Quite unreasonable when you think about it.

All the good luck to MiniHelen. I’m sure he’ll smash it. Yes, Cadfael is the Derek Jacobi one.

Sun’s out, it’s a nice temperature already and I’ve just put a wash out.

Happy travels Apricot.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 09/05/2024 07:55

Morning all. Well, I'm acing the 'parenting' thing. Apparently the first exam is tomorrow, not today. I wished DS good luck as he left for school:
DS: "You do know the exam is tomorrow?" Hmm
Me: Blush "oh. Thought it was today."
DS: <eye-roll> <exit pursued by bear>

Your mini-break sounds wonderful Fancy <wistful sigh> The fox family can stay well away from Chonk and Floof though. As well as stopping using your garden for a toilet.

I have a looming freelance deadline, plus a bunch of people who need to RTFLetters that I sent them.
Me: Can I have this, this and that, for this? Here are the details.
Them: Fill in our form
Me: Your form doesn't work with what I'm asking about, but I've shoe-horned it all in.
Them. What are the details?
Me: <gritted teeth> Here are the details for the third time you bloody idiot
<Repeat until blood pressure requires a hospital visit>

National holiday today, because Jesus flew up to heaven or something, don't really care Grin

Watched UK's performance in the Eurovision semifinals, love the song and the performance has a quiet elegance about it and not at all like a superduper gay orgie Grin

Think Croatia might win, their performance felt like being smashed by a steamroller, but in a fun way Grin

Enjoy the new caravan Apes, it will soon feel like home Smile

Glad you had a nice trip Fancy Smile

Hope all wenches has a good day Smile

LetUsPrey · 09/05/2024 22:04

Evening wenches.

A quiet elegance. Yes that’s just what I thought when I saw it Wicked Grin

Good to have a rehearsal for the big day Helen. I am more convinced than ever that we deal with the same people.

Work was bonkers, back’s still a bit iffy.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 10/05/2024 00:04

You need to lie down and rest your back LetUs - here's a selection for you.

LetUsPrey · 10/05/2024 07:23

Morning wenches.

Interesting use of the word “rest” there Helen Grin

Good luck (again) to MiniHelen.

Warm and bright again. Intended to get an early start so I can do some errands on the way to work. Not quite happened really.

Have super Fridays wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 10/05/2024 07:48

Morning all. Bright and sunny here, and Friday - hurrah.

DS is off to school - he spent last night sorting through his pencil case which we've only been telling him to do for literal years - rammed to the gills with dead pens and bits of pens... Fingers crossed for him.

KillerKitty had brought in a baby rabbit, twice. And then half of it, which he wants to stash somewhere for later Hmm He's currently lying next to it, so make sure it doesn't get binned.

Have a good day all. I'll have a go at those flapjacks later. Hopefully. Best laid plans, etc.

ApricotCrush · 10/05/2024 16:59

Afternoon wenches. Gosh it’s hot, but I’m not complaining, we’ve been moaning for months how cold it is.

Anyway, we’ve moved all the mountain of stuff from the old van <sob> and brought it over. You don’t realise how much you collect in 16-odd years. I dread the thought of ever moving house, although we’ll have to at some time. I’m trying to keep tidy but it’s a tip in here. Hmm

Grin at our Eurovision act having a quiet elegance. No, no, no and again no. I watched 20 seconds of it and turned it off. What the fuck has happened to our music. Bring back Bucks Fizz, and that was considered risqué at the time.

Hope the exam went well for MiniHelen.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 10/05/2024 18:41

Evening all. DS was happy enough with the exams - he "knew most of the answers", and the flapjacks have been made. Yum! (Though they are a bit crumbly.)

Weather is lovely still so I'm mooching out for a walk/bike ride/fresh air of some sort.

LetUsPrey · 10/05/2024 21:59

Evening wenches.

Good start for MiniHelen then and hurrah for flapjacks!

The thought of having to move gives me the wobbly wotsits too Apricot, although we’re planning to sort the loft out some time soon. Definitely.

Work was crackers again. Trying to find and identify loads (as in over a hundred) of documents and put them in an order on the system for a file I know nothing about. Woooooooo!

Anyway it’s the weekend now so I’m knitting, drinking vodka and watching Poirot.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 11/05/2024 10:51

Morning all. Lie-in was interrupted by IntelligentCat yowling at me from under the bed. FFS cat. On the other thand, it did get me up, so I've had breakfast and now need to do stuff.

Did not see Northern lights last night - looked out the window at midnight and couldn't see anything. Lots of picture online of course <eye-roll>

FancyFancy · 11/05/2024 13:20

Afternoon

Glad to hear DS thought his exam went well Helen

I think you have the measure of our Eurovision entry ww 😂 I quite like the song, but the staging looks like a bunch of twinks prancing through a middle aged gay man's wet dream. I cringed like I did watching Pans People in the 70's. Am watching tonight with DD at the cinema, may try closing my eyes for our entry and see if I like it more 😁

Also quite like Sweden and Croatia and disappointed San Marino didn't get through.

LetUsPrey · 11/05/2024 13:38

Afternoon wenches.

Many loads of washing done. Been to nearby NiceVillage to collect prescription and browse second hand books.

Didn’t stay up to look for the lights but I’ll see what I can see tonight.

Plan today is to sit with the French doors open, watching tv and knitting. Bit early for the Pimms Grin

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 11/05/2024 14:33

Never too early for Pimms Letus Grin

The best part of the second semifinal was the Moomins Grin

I quite liked Spain, interesting performance though Grin

ApricotCrush · 11/05/2024 16:55

Afternoon. Still very hot here, I’ve been out on the decking doing sudokus.

DH on the other hand can’t sit still and has been delving into the plumbing and electrics here because ‘they aren’t right’. I told him not to stand on the toilet seat because he’ll break it, he has form for this. Ten minutes later…. crash, he’s broken the toilet seat. 😡 Honestly we’ve only been here two days and he’s now got a repair to do. <sigh>

Absolutely gutted about the Northern Lights. I knew about them and forgot. However, there aren’t any pics on the local FB page so maybe they weren’t visible here. Back home they looked amazing. I’ve never seen them. 😔 I’ll have a look tonight.

LetUsPrey · 11/05/2024 22:04

Evening wenches.

Errands run, much washing and some housework done, have also knitted.

If I was voting for a Eurovision song, I’d go for Switzerland.

Oh MrApricot <shakes head>.

Going to see if I can see the Northern Lights tonight too.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 11/05/2024 23:26

MrA will be happy though - he has something to fix!

We've been out several times to look at the Northern lights. Or rather, to put my phone camera on 'night' setting and squint at the resulting picture to see if there's a vaguely pink-ish glow. Hmm Will try once more then go to bed.

No washing done today, will do some tomorrow.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 12/05/2024 08:06

Morning all, it's bright and sunny, though lots of high cloud, and there is much work to be done in the garden. And revision <side-eyes DS>

LetUsPrey · 12/05/2024 09:30

Morning wenches.

Didn’t see any Northern Lights here. Think it might have been a bit cloudy.

And it’s still cloudy this morning. Usual Sunday of washing, ironing, visiting, etc etc.

Hope wenches get some lovely weather for outings or pottering or whatever they want to do.

ApricotCrush · 12/05/2024 16:33

Afternoon. Another lovely day although we had a lot of thunder earlier but no lightning or rain. Hmm

DH has been plumbing an outside tap for karchering and car cleaning. He never stops.

No Northern Lights here either. ☹️

LetUsPrey · 12/05/2024 19:44

Evening wenches.

Lovely day here up to about an hour ago. It hasn’t stopped raining since, really coming down, with a bit of thunder and lightning.

Did all the usual Sunday things and also watched the women’s FA Cup final which was excellent.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 12/05/2024 20:49

Evening. I'm a bit broken but the potatoes are all planted and so are the teeny tiny strawberry plants which may or may not survive. I did have to shut the chickens away because it was just getting too hard to dig holes with chickens 'helping' underfoot.

No rain here, I don't think it's forecast to reach us, though it is clouding over.
