Afternoon. Overcast and a bit drizzly here. DS stripped his bed this morning and didn’t tell me and I only found it all after lunch. I put it on a 45 minute wash and pegged it out but I don’t think it’s drying. Also, I don’t think the powder has dissolved properly as there’s a residue on everything. I hate my new washer. I think I’ll have to use a liquid.

I haven’t talked to the seedlings LetUs but I will do. I think the carbon dioxide you breathe out helps them. Hmm Hope you’re feeling a bit better.

What a stressful dream Helen, glad it turned out alright.

Have a good evening all.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 03/05/2024 21:26

Evening. It has rained most of the day, so the seedlings here have been well watered.

I've had to rub out an entire sudoku (well, I didn't have to, I just couldn't be bothered checking back and forth with the answers and rubbing out individual cells here and there) so now I have that to do again, hurrah! Hmm
Today's emails included one from DS's preferred college saying that they are over-subscribed, so that may help concentrate his mind to make an effort and get high grades!

The manshapes are out but will be back shortly, so I shall enjoy the peace and quiet (and look forward to the crash-band-thud of them homing home again, dragging sports gear behind them.)

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 04/05/2024 08:39

Morning all. Lovely and sunny so far today, though also lots of high cloud.

It's been wildlife central here recently - we have a teenage fledging blackbird chasing after both parents demanding food - then feeding itself perfectly happily when they don't comply fast enough (but its preference is to have everything done for it)! Plus deer mooching about and 'pruning' the flowerbeds Hmm

Hope everyone has a good day of sunshine and HBFs, and general chilled out enjoyment.

LetUsPrey · 04/05/2024 09:32

Morning wenches.

Lasted until just after lunch at work yesterday and then gave up and came home. Spent all afternoon and most of the evening in bed. Feel better than I was today but just seem to be wiped out. Woe etc. It’s so bad I haven’t done any knitting since Wednesday!!!

<sprays whatever is supposed to be de-stressing at Helen - lavender or vodka or whatever>

Sounds very frustrating re the washer Apricot. Things just don’t seem to work the way we want them to any more.

ApricotCrush · 04/05/2024 16:55

Afternoon. Lovely day here and I’ve got washing on the line and have had a sit outside and sudokued. If I go wrong Helen I can’t be bothered to find the mistake, so give up and start another.

Sorry you’re so poorly LetUs, hope you feel better soon.

Grin at spraying vodka.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 04/05/2024 21:33

Evening. Lovely weather all day - I hope that's helped a bit LetUs Sad Lots of garden stuff and been done and lots still needs to be done. Also lots of work that was surprisingly productive given it's a weekend! No washing done though.

FancyFancy · 05/05/2024 00:11

Evening. Ish

Sorry you're feeling so bad letus, hopefully you'll get some peace and quiet over the long weekend.

Slugs are eating my plants helen, at least the deer are pretty to look at!

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 05/05/2024 08:20

Morning all. urgh - slugs. Though actually it was snails that destroyed the petunias last year. That's one benefit of the chickens invading the patio - they're also been demolishing any snails that they find.

It is sunny and nice outside again, but then it's a bank holiday so I assume we must be forecast torrential rain tomorrow?

LetUs - Adam Driver is on BBC on Thursday night in the Gucci film. (Wicked I've no idea if you can get BBC2)

I should do washing today - thrilling stuff. Hmm

LetUsPrey · 05/05/2024 08:56

Morning wenches.

Yesterday I sat and knitted and then had a not bad night’s sleep. Feeling much better today.

Many commiserations on the garden pests. I still remember DH being outraged when we visited relatives who he’d told about making a beer trap for the snails/slugs, and found that she was using Stella Artois in the traps Grin

Thanks for the Gucci film heads up. I’ll definitely record that.

ApricotCrush · 05/05/2024 16:22

Afternoon. Lovely day again, but not done much as we have DS’s DC.

Glad you’re feeling a bit better LetUs.

I’ll record the Gucci film too.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 05/05/2024 22:07

Evening. I have been gardening. I am tired. (That's about it.) There's so much to do Sad I'm trying to prep the veg patch, but also clearing out flower beds which are overgrown (being 'helped' by chickens who want to eat all the worms). DH has been mowing. I've also had arguments with stinging nettles and my wrists feel all tingly.

Glad you've felt better today LetUs

LetUsPrey · 05/05/2024 23:16

Evening wenches.

That sounds an awful lot of gardening and very hard work Helen.

Four loads of washing including bedding done and line dried today which made me stupidly happy.

Have been out to LittleSis’s this evening and I’ve eaten far too much.

LetUsPrey · 06/05/2024 08:45

Morning wenches.

Sun is shining again, although I think we have rain forecast.

Biscoff flapjacks are in the oven. I’ll have breakfast, then it’s ironing, hopefully time for some knitting and then we’re off to see DS1.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 06/05/2024 09:01

ooooooooooooh! Biscoff flapjacks! Send recipe! Actually, there must be a cake recipe with biscoff in. Hmmmmmmmmmm... <ponders>

It's sunny here too, but I think we have rain forecast. In positive news, the small plants that came out the flower bed because there were embedded in clumps of grass look like they're coping with life, wallowig in their tub of water. So today I need to:
Sort out wigwam and water reservoir for beans
Rescue teeny tiny strawberry plants which survived last year's drought and general neglect
Finish waging war on grass in flower beds and replant teeny tiny plants. And fence the whole lot off from the rampaging chickens <eye roll>
<orders more chicken wire>

Please send a working part of HBFs to help out. They will get hot and sweaty. Yum Grin

ApricotCrush · 06/05/2024 16:38

Afternoon. Nice warm day but not much sun. I went to town this morning for general supplies. I think I need to get my summer clothes out as I was terribly hot and everyone was in shorts and t-shirts, but the minute I do that we’ll be back to arctic weather. Hmm

Helen that does seem like a lot of work, you deserve a medal. Love that the chickens were ‘helping’.

<pinches a Biscoff flapjack>

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 06/05/2024 20:12

Evening. It's been warm and sunny - I can only assume that the weather gods forgot that it was a bank holiday.

So:

  • Sort out wigwam and water reservoir for beans
  • Rescue teeny tiny strawberry plants which survived last year's drought and general neglect
Both achieved.
  • Finish waging war on grass in flower beds and replant teeny tiny plants. And fence the whole lot off from the rampaging chickens
Failed. Though I did also transplant some foxgloves, and dug up a bunch of ground elder. With no help from the HBFS (rude) and lots of 'help' from the chickens. Hmm DS also helped a bit. Shock Grin

I think I need a long soak in the bath.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 06/05/2024 20:13

Bloody hell MN - WTF did you do with formatting? Confused

LetUsPrey · 06/05/2024 20:14

Evening wenches.

GrinGrin at request for working part of HBFs Helen. Hope you got all the gardening done.

My summer clothes concession was changing my jumper for a cardigan.

Lovely to see DS1 and his girlfriend this afternoon.

My hips have stopped hurting as much, but now my lower back feels awful. Le sigh.

I’ll take a photo of the recipe Helen when I remember.

LetUsPrey · 07/05/2024 07:44

Morning wenches.

DS2 not feeling great still. Seems to have what I had but says he wants to go to college. We shall see. My back is slightly improved. There’s something this evening at college that DS2 and we need to go to as well. Urgh what a start to the day.

Have hopefully added photo of recipe for you Helen.

Swagger Inn 176 - I'd rather hunt for FAF than Easter eggs
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 07/05/2024 10:30

Thanks LetUs - I'm going to make those for DS to try and cheer him up. (He had a minor melt-down last night over something completely stupid, which I think is actually exams stress coming out, but he won't talk about it. <le sigh>
Hope DS2 and your back improves/continues to improve.

DH didn't sleep well last night, so I was woken at 4am by huffing and puffing. though at least I got back to sleep - he's been awake since 4am [horror] On the plus side, that meant he was up and did the livestock this morning, and whereas I actually slept until my alarm woke me up, then flailed around getting breakfast for me and DS. Morning exercise class involved lying down. I may have drifted off at one point Blush

ApricotCrush · 07/05/2024 16:30

Afternoon. Nice day but I didn’t do any washing. We’re going to the caravan on Thursday so there’s a lot of sorting to be done.

Hope MiniHelen and LetUsDS2 are alright and LetUs’s back continues to improve.

That recipe looks easy, I’ve saved it and might have a go when I get time.

LetUsPrey · 07/05/2024 22:04

Evening wenches.

We can entice Fancy around the country with the lure of Biscoff flapjacks Grin

DS2 didn’t go to college. He wanted to but he looked and sounded awful so I reminded him he’d have to walk back when it finished so he didn’t go. He protested about going to the thing this evening but went in the end. He does look a bit better. My back keeps pretending to have improved and then I move and it reminds me it hasn’t.

Oh poor MiniHelen. It’ll all soon be over.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 08/05/2024 07:37

Urgh, morning all. Tireeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed.

Was out at theatre last night and it was very good and lots of fun, but I'm tired and I had a headache all day yesterday and it's still there. FFS. <whinge> And I have BoringOfficeJob today. urgh. If anyone finds my motivation for anything other than going back to bed, do let me know. <whine>

<arf> at luring fancy with flapjacks, and hope DS2 and your back are feeling better today LetUs. Backs are arses. metaphorically speaking.

LetUsPrey · 08/05/2024 07:42

Morning wenches.

Backs are indeed arses Helen.

You’ve barely stopped so it’s no wonder you’re tired.

Sun is shining and I’m regretting not having a wash ready to go out.

ApricotCrush · 08/05/2024 16:27

Afternoon. Lovely day, much washing done.

We're off early in the morning to get to the caravan before lunch if possible. The new one is in place and the old one has been moved to somewhere-we-know-not-where on the park, together with all our belongings, so we've got to find it and transfer everything over. It's all in boxes, so shouldn't be too bad. I'm still ambivalent about it all, I loved the old van although it was falling apart a bit underneath, but I was outnumbered by DH and DD. DS feels the same as me, but he wasn't there so had no input. I'm sure I'll get used to it, it's much more modern.

Anyway, hope everyone's had a good day and I'll try to keep in touch wi-fi permitting.
