Page 40 | DH embarrassed by my sensitivity | Mumsnet

Saw this thread mentioned in another thread so just hade to look it up.

"We went to the Sistine Chappell the day after and I ended up screaming at the MichaelAngelo" Grin Grin

LetUsPrey · 28/08/2024 19:55

Evening wenches.

Raaaaiiinnnnnn, although blue skies now. Work was crappy crap crap.

Would MiniHelen have preferred a hornet in his room? No, he would not. Will he appreciate what you did? Also no. The logic is not strong with them.

Oh Apricot, he sounds a bit like DS1. If he wasn’t an “expert” straight away, he’d want to give up.

Grin Wicked. I embarrassed DS1 on a trip to London years ago. I dragged him to The British Library and in one of the display cases they’ve got some very old (obviously), beautifully decorated books. I started crying a bit because they were just so beautiful. He was mortified and scurried off. Happy days Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/08/2024 22:18

Ah - 'screaming at the Sistine chapel' - yes. Mumsnet is a strange place. Grin

Apricot - you need to get DGS to watch the Andrew Flintoff 'Field of Dreams series - lots of motivational pep talks there about not giving up!

We have had hot sunshine here, so I got back from work and did the watering. Work was... let's just say I spent most of the day fixing my own mistakes. Though one colleague swears that the system is glitching and it's not us making the mistakes. Most of today's were definitely me though. <le sigh>

How's your composter doing these days Fancy?

FancyFancy · 28/08/2024 23:28

Evening

All very dull here - a pity as the weather has been lovely but I've been stuck in an office <sighs> For once I'm not that busy, so I took the opportunity to book a few days holiday over the next few months to give me something to look forward to Grin
Composter has not been tended so well this year helen, everything got off to a slow start in the garden & I've been a bit slack about feeding the bin enough to keep it at peak temperature. It's been steadily working along in the background & I suspect needs another emptying, so that's a task for the weekend if the weather holds.

Morning wenches.

Thiought that said composer at first reading. “Well she’s rattled off another couple of movements so the symphony’s coming along nicely”. I have actually booked an eye test Grin

Have given up with the forecasts for now so I’ll just take each day with no rain as a bonus.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 29/08/2024 10:13

Lol, yes Fancy has her own private composer trotting in her wake, providing a soundtrack to everything. Sort of like this and (I do like this group - lots of very silly gaming parodies going on.)

It's nice and sunny here. Next door are away for a couple of days, so I'm on livestock duties for them too. I haven't knowingly killed anything yet, though I'm not sure how many chickens they have!

Last night was spent trying to work out transport logistics for college <shudder>

ApricotCrush · 29/08/2024 17:44

Afternoon. Nice day, I thought it was going to be sunny this morning, but after I got myself settled outside the sun disappeared.

Oh, well done on the optician appointment LetUs. Specsavers are still nagging me in the sidebar, by email and letter. They're getting quite funny, the lastest letter looks like the test chart with words decreasing in size.

Grin at Fancy's composer.

Hope you sort out the transport Helen. DGS is going to a different school and they don't know where the coach picks up from and there's no-one who lives near to him. Hmm

LetUsPrey · 29/08/2024 21:24

Evening wenches.

I definitely need some sort of signal music at work Grin. Although to be honest you can generally hear the person we want to avoid several corridors away. That second video is brilliant too.

Everything crossed for getting transport issues sorted. There’s always some piece of information missing isn’t there? DS2 got his timetable for the first two weeks. Monday = study day so I say that’s a nice easy start back, a day at home. Oh do I not go in? Wouldn’t have thought so. But do I or not? I’m not really going to be the one who knows am I. Will he message to check? No, no he will not.

Grin at the decreasing font

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 29/08/2024 22:23

Evening. I like that - opticians with a sense of humour Grin Our County Council has lists of all the school pick-up points - no idea if that would help you Apricot? (Obviously not my County Council though, that would be no use.)

I think I know what we're doing re. transport. Just need to buy the tickets (and up the mileage on my car insurance). Today invoived work and trying to sort out logistic for DS' next social outing.

LetUsPrey · 30/08/2024 07:19

Morning wenches.

Sunshine! And it’s Friday!

Have to set off early to take car for two new tyres. Fortunately garage for this is round the corner from the office.

Have excellent days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 30/08/2024 09:30

Morning all. Also sunshine here, though it's distinctly cool in the mornings now. 'Seasons of mists and mellow fruitfulness', etc.

Roll on the weekend...

ApricotCrush · 30/08/2024 16:26

Afternoon. Lovely day, lots of washing done.

I read a bit of the Sistine Chapel thread WW. The National Trust place up the road from us have some original paintings by the Pre-Raphaelites and having watched Desperate Romantics about their private lives, I felt I knew a bit about them and seeing those paintings did make me a bit emotional. I didn’t scream though. Grin

I think DD has sorted the school coach Helen. It’s just the first day, not knowing the ropes.

LetUsPrey · 30/08/2024 20:33

Evening wenches.

Stayed sunny all day and at one point, when I went to collect my car, it was actually quite warm!

Awful traffic on the way home for both me and DH, coming home from different directions. He’s had to leave his car at my sister’s and run home. Still looks quite bad on maps and we sacked off taking DS2 to SportingActivity. I know there was a three vehicle crash on a nearby motorway but thankfully it says no one was hurt.

That’s lovely Apricot, feeling a connection like that.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 31/08/2024 11:52

Morning (just) all.

Much excitement last night - BBC did a thing on the local news at SportingActivity - DH and DS are little ants in the background Grin Then DS was absolutely hyped up when he came home - constant chattering and brain firing off in all directions Confused not sure what that was about but he's planning another Gathering of Teens for tomorrow, so that may have something to do with it. Work was very unexciting - all spreadsheet balance and reconciliations.

eek at your traffic yesterday LetUs Sad hope it's better today in general.

I have no plans today other than needing to get my arse in gear and get to SportingActivity for and event (sadly no HBFs involved) Hope the weather holds, it's not as nice as I was led to expect.

Hope that everywench has a good day.

LetUsPrey · 31/08/2024 12:34

Afternoon wenches.

Is surprisingly warm here today.

Have done eye test, ordered new glasses, collected cake for tonight, lots of loads of washing, wet and pinned out rest of crochet squares, bought more yarn because I ran out of the kinds I was using. I’d quite like to have a sit down now.

Fame at last for them Helen! Hope your weather holds for event.

Out this evening with DC, DS1’s girlfriend, parents and LovelyMIL to celebrate our anniversary earlier this week, hence cake.

Have lovely days wenches.

ApricotCrush · 31/08/2024 17:35

Afternoon. Lovely morning, but it's gone very dull now.

DH was at DS's this morning and they've all gone golfing this afternoon, so I only have me to cook for. Well, I say cook loosely, probably just put something in the microwave.

Oh, how exciting Helen. Hope your weather's alright.

Belated Happy Anniversary LetUs. It was ours last week, but we just mutter 'happy anniversary' to each other some time during the day when one of us remembers, usually me. Hmm Hope you have a lovely evening.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 31/08/2024 18:13

Evening. Weather held and even got a bit warm and sunny late afternoon. Though we came home to a power cut which wasn't so handy. (It's back now.)

I think you deserve a massive sit-down LetUs! Happy anniversary!

I'm not microwaving my tea Apricot - I've sticking it in an oven (pizza!)

LetUsPrey · 31/08/2024 21:00

Evening wenches.

Am full of fish and chips and gravy. A lovely early evening out. Am fair dropping now though. We don’t normally do anything other than a card to each other but it was a Big Anniversary hence cake and meal out.

LetUsPrey · 01/09/2024 08:04

Morning wenches.

Looks quite dull here but I have ambitiously put a wash on.

Have another eye test today following on from yesterday. We need you ias soon as for this test but nothing to worry about. Oh okay, I’ll not worry. FFS.

Usual Sunday other than that.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 01/09/2024 12:23

Eye test on a Sunday? Your opticians are keener than ours LetUs - hope all's well.

We have sun/cloud and the washing is in the machine, though I can also smell bonfire. DS's horde of friends are here (and lumping about upstairs like a herd of elephants - one of them has brought a VR headset/game), so most of this morning was spent in a "Shit! People are coming - I need to tidy!" sort of way. Never mind that they're teens and probably wouldn't notice if the floor was inches thick in dust Hmm

Hope that everywench has a chilled and relaxing day. (Or a thoroughly exciting one involving HBFs, but let's be realistic here...)

ApricotCrush · 01/09/2024 16:15

Afternoon. Cloudy here, but I went a walk earlier to post a letter and it’s quite warm.

DH is at DS’s again. ‘I’ll only do a couple of hours’ he said as DS has the children and won’t be able to help. That was 9 o’clock this morning. It’s quite heavy work he’s doing and it does worry me.

Hope all is well at the opticians LetUs.

LetUsPrey · 01/09/2024 19:27

Evening wenches.

All is well (more or less) with eyes. It’s a watch it doesn’t get worse situation.

We’ve had heavy rain and thunder which seems to have stopped for now.

DS1 used to have friends round but it’s not something DS2 does. Can’t say I miss it.

I know what you mean with the worrying when they do DIY and stuff Apricot. Even years ago when my dad would help with heavy gardening stuff, I’d be keeping an eye on him that he wasn’t going too red in the face or getting out of puff.

Finished a large crochet blanket which will be a housewarming/Christmas present for DNiece. Very bloody pleased with it even if I do say so myself.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 01/09/2024 23:29

Well done on the crochet LetUs, and hope that MrA has retruned home unscathed.
How is it 11:30?
<crawls off to bed>

FancyFancy · 01/09/2024 23:59

Evening, have had a pleasant weekend - DD was here on Friday evening, so that meant fish & chips and pink wine. And on Saturday we watched crap tv, wandered down to the market to buy cheese and watched a film after that.

Today I have been doing some gardening & am now watching the Paralympic highlights.

Morning wenches.

That sounds such a wonderful weekend Fancy.

Tweaked my back in some way yesterday morning, still really sore this morning. Also, much rain here. How very Monday.

Have great days wenches.
