Evening wenches.

Awwww at Chonk and Floof Go Glam/Get Tidied Up

Not mad keen on rats to be honest, just a bit too big and scary for me. Pleased for FancyDD though.

<snort> at cheese lounge.

Am I hogging the rain? You’re all welcome to some of it <leaves directions outside for rain next time it arrives>

LittleSis said the same re the gymnastics commentator Grin Craig is to gymnastics commentary what Leon is to diving.

Hope Wicked hasn’t been wiped out by work <sends Pimms>

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 01/08/2024 22:05

Evening all. Have been having tea and watching tennis and swimming. Boo to the tennis result Sad

Work has been busy and worky. But also productive, so hurrah! Quite tired though.

DS has a social life again tomorrow, so I will be doing some taxi-ing.

FancyFancy · 01/08/2024 22:28

We had a bit of rain, not very much though. And all the thunder petered out before the clouds got to us <harrumphs>, it's now disgustingly warm & humid.

Am catching up on the swimming with Chonk. He doesn't seem that interested.

Boo to the tennis, but even more to the bloody boxing, FFS. And why has it taken the risk of injury to a woman for the BBC to mention this issue (admittedly not very clearly)? Had they, and other media, had the balls (pun intended) to cover this problem years ago in athletics we may not be in the position we are now in. Wonder if they'll show the next round bout? Or indeed the bout tomorrow where the same problem, different boxer, will occur again? Angry

Morning wenches.

Friday and sunny hurrah!

The IOC certainly does have an interesting take on fairness Fancy. Wishy washy feebleness.

Muzza’s tweet or whatever it was “Never even liked tennis anyway” last night made me do a proper Grin

Have excellent days wenches - you deserve it

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 02/08/2024 09:34

Morning. Sunny here too, though not too muggy yet (phew).

Yes, I proper LOLed at Murry's tweet. And he changed his biog to 'I played Tennis' Sad I also laughed at the post-match interview asking what he was going to do - have lie-ins? His response was "I have four children under 8. Lie-ins don't exist" FOUR under eight. [horror] I didn't realise it was that many. Like having your own mini primary school/nursery?! I'm in awe of people who manage that - admittedly, they must have plenty of money to get help.

Anyway, yes the boxing is a joke. And now I need to kick DS and get him moving so he doesn't miss his social life. Hmm

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 02/08/2024 16:29

Finally Friday <inhales Pimms>

ApricotCrush · 02/08/2024 16:33

Afternoon. Hot and sunny this morning but clouded over now and a wind has got up so it’s a bit cooler. I can’t cope with the heat like I used to.

I’m keeping up with the Olympics online, I can’t be bothered to watch it all. Appalled at the boxing. His passport shows him as female so that’s alright then. Angry

Why do I keep thinking it’s Saturday? Hmm

FancyFancy · 02/08/2024 18:07

Murray's tweet was comedy gold 😂

Have also been enjoying Craig getting wonderfully over excited in the trampolining.

Otherwise have done very little - did some grocery shopping, but felt really weird, light headed and fast heart beat, so have been having a lie down since I got home.

<sets HBFs up with giant feathery fans to cool down wenches> Airblades are all very well, but not as aesthetically pleasing after all.
Hope you're feeling better now Fancy Confused

I am cooking tea for me and DS. DS has just told me he's not hungry, because he's been eating all day with his friends. FFS - I should have thought to ask. <Side-eyes lots of left-overs>

Today's excitement, apart from olympics, has been. Um. laundry and working and a bit of a food shop. Also, I quite fancy some 3/4 thin/loose trousers, but the ones I tried on were too big, so that very vague hunt will have to continue.

<tops up pims all round>

LetUsPrey · 02/08/2024 22:06

Evening wenches.

Have a sugary snack Fancy. Or some cheese. Or possibly both. Hope you’re feeling better anyway.

That top up comes at quite a good time Helen as I’ve almost finished this pint (because classy) of Pimms.

I was so thrilled for our medalists today, especially Bryony Page on the trampoline.

Listened to a good radio drama on BBC Sounds about when Fanny Blankers-Koen (apologies re spelling) competed at the 1948 London Olympics.

<side eyes at MiniHelen>

We had rain again this evening. Work was aarrgghhh. I did a complicated bill, everything itemised, it all added up to what it should - hurrah! Oh soz, someone says, this got missed off because I forgot to mention it each of the times I’ve spoken to you about it.

I’ve been having another go at crochet.

LetUsPrey · 03/08/2024 07:18

Morning wenches.

Up early today just because I was awake early not because of any exciting plans. So dishes are done and the first wash is about to finish. Oh wow, perhaps I should take back the statement re no exciting plans Grin

Not much else planned for the day other than laundry and Olympics.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 03/08/2024 08:46

Up early today just because I was awake early - likewise, but without the productivity.

Cloudy so far, and cooler outside. No plans, but I will probably get to the end of the day and be annoyed with myself for not doing something I should have. Hmm

ApricotCrush · 03/08/2024 17:15

Afternoon. Rain overnight which was welcome and it’s cooler now.

I mentioned the other day that DH was cutting the hedge. Well in stepping back to admire his work, he wielded this fucking great hedge-cutter back and sliced through my washing line. “It’s fine,” he said, “I’ve tied it back together.” However, on going outside today to get the washing in, I find it draped all over the terrace. “I thought it was a good knot” he said. <sigh>

Hope you’re feeling better Fancy. I felt similar, I think it was the heat.

We’re going out for a meal tonight with friends.

LetUsPrey · 03/08/2024 19:40

Evening wenches.

Lots of washing done because it’s been quite breezy today.

I would be quite cross at MrApricot even though it was an accident. The Washing Line is not to be messed with. Have a lovely evening.

DS2 has been a bit of a PITA today on and off, currently in an “on” phase. Le sigh.

Have enjoyed lots of Olympic action today which is still ongoing.

FancyFancy · 03/08/2024 20:19

Evening wenches. Am feeling a bit better today thanks - interesting you felt similar apricot. I really don't like very hot weather, but that was unusual for me.

Have been enjoying more Olympics today, just been fangirling Femke Bol in the mixed relay - found myself cheering her on like she was a Brit Grin

Also been enjoying the silly Olympic questions thread, especially this question letus :
What qualifications other than enthusiasm does Matt Baker have to commentate on gymnastics? Was he a gymnast?

Oh FFS MrA. and RIP ApricotWashingLine

also <cbf> at MiniLetUs being a PITA.

I have done no washing, but a bit of plant shopping at local garden centres. Now I need to plant them without the 'help' of chickens getting underfoot. We had a little scattering of rain - big ploppy drops but not long enough to make any difference.

Glad you're feeling a bit better Fancy - long may that continue.

LetUsPrey · 04/08/2024 07:15

Morning wenches.

Pleased to hear you’re feeling better Fancy. Grin at the questions. I was cheering on Femke too like she was British!

I assume by the chickens “helping” you Helen you don’t mean they pass you a trowel or anything?

Usual Sunday with LovelyMIL coming for lunch and DS1 and his girlfriend coming round.

Have lovely days wenches,

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 04/08/2024 11:47

Morning. I have been digging, without feathery clucky things diving underfoot to scratch up worms from the newly dug soil. Much easier. Just need to actually plant the new things now, and lug water about.

It's warm and muggy. Bleurgh. Though the 'warm' may be more from me digging and stuff.

Hope everyone has a lovely day.

ApricotCrush · 04/08/2024 16:20

Afternoon. Much cooler and cloudy now.

Ooooh, I knew the answer to that Matt Baker question, he used to be a gymnast but gave it up for health reasons. Very interesting thread.

Nothing going on here, hope everyone’s had a good day.

LetUsPrey · 04/08/2024 18:55

Evening wenches.

Not sure why it’s been raining today because it wasn’t supposed to. Had to do that little known Olympic event of Bringing In The Almost Dry Washing Before It Gets Sodding Soaked Again. I definitely got a podium finish but there were socks involved so that slowed me down.

Have done usual Sunday things. Lovely to see DS1 and his girlfriend.

Was one of the questions on the Olympic questions thread “why does Denise Lewis not look any older and in fact looks better and is excellent at being a pundit”?

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 04/08/2024 20:00

Why is it Monday tomorrow?

Glad you both feel better Fancy and Apes.

Oh no about the washing line Apes Confused

Hope all wenches are well.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 04/08/2024 21:09

Evening. I'm tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiirrrrrrrred. Woe is me, whinge, etc. Have got gardening stuff done though, so that's good (despite the chickens' best efforts). Have had a fecking headache for most of the day though. That can get in the bin.

We had attempted rain several times, but it never got beyond just spitting down. DH says he's heard we might get some on Tuesday.

I highly recommend https://www.facebook.com/HappyToastArts/ for their alternative olympic timetables. I think that Freestyle Street Yoga sounds excellent. Grin Though Bringing In The Almost Dry Washing Before It Gets Sodding Soaked Again is a nailed on winner. There's been a meme on my FB feed along the lines of 'If being lazy was an olympic sport, I'd be fourth so I don't have to walk to the podium' Grin

Morning wenches.

Grin at fourth in the Lazy Olympics

It’s Monday already Wicked because time follows different rules on a weekend. I’m convinced of it.

Hope headache’s gone Helen.

My work town was on the news last night because of the riots etc. Lots of the businesses are already struggling so hopefully they haven’t sustained a lot of damage.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 05/08/2024 10:05

Morning all. FFS at fuckwits rioting. Angry As for the woman who started the rumours on Twitter, she should be facing time as well, and have all her social media accounts taken over back fact-checkers who can send corrections on all her conspiracy theories to her follower.

Headache is lurking still. Woe, etc. On the plus side, DH was awake early for once so he did the animals thing and I staying in bed.

Hope everyone has a good day and enjoys the weather.

ApricotCrush · 05/08/2024 16:14

Afternoon. Cloudy all day but no rain. I was going to have a bit of a lie in this morning but got out of bed rather quicker than I thought when a spider ran over the duvet at me. It was only one of those spindly cellar ones but it was enough to get me up.

Hope your work town hasn’t been badly hit LetUs. All this trouble is being caused by loutish unemployed thugs who are bored and jump on any bandwagon to make trouble. It’s always been the same. I remember the Mods v Rockers riots of the 60s but it’s worse now because of social media. Not on Twitter so I’m not aware of the rumours.

Hope your headache has gone Helen.

Grin at the alternative Olympic events.
