Evening wenches.

Am fat now after a lot of barbecue food and ice cream dessert and Pimms at LittleSis’s house.

Ah Apricot the WIPs. This is why I’m constantly starting new things. Tell myself they’re just quick things and it’s fine that those other things have been waiting to be finished.

Was so nice to see the lovely clean bedding blowing on the line earlier today. What a saddo Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/07/2024 22:32

Evening. Gardening has been done here - war on bindweed as well as ground elder and nettles. No washing was done though. Thrilling stuff. Watched the end of the tennis on olympics - whoop! Bit tired now, and it's Monday tomorrow. Dooom.

LetUsPrey · 29/07/2024 07:35

Morning wenches.

<borrows a TavCat>
<sits in big swivel chair stroking TavCat>
So Monday, we meet again

It’s very sunny. So much I could be doing today, by which I mean knitting and watching the sport.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 29/07/2024 08:32

Morning all. It's lovely and sunny. Why I am stuck with stupid work deadlines instead of chilling out by a quiet pool somewhere? Sad
Never mind. LOL at that thread Apricot Grin
You get on a horse and take literally the worst route round a field of fences.
Running in circles with a couple of mates.
Grin

Have a good day all, even if it is a Monday. (I think it's Fancy's day off anyway, so she and Apricot can enjoy it on our behalf.)

ApricotCrush · 29/07/2024 16:37

Afternoon. Lovely sunny day.

<joins LetUs on the saddo bench watching all the bedding blowing on the line>

DH is painting our lamppost in the front garden, up a ladder. I can’t see him from here so will hope for the best. Hmm

Hope everyone’s had a good day.

LetUsPrey · 29/07/2024 20:48

Evening wenches.

Hopefully MrApricot is safely down from the ladder, and he’s not still up there, clinging on to the lamppost whilst Apricot tries to entice him down with the cat biscuits.

Spent most of the day feeling hot <niagw> at work and being very tired. Have been enjoying the gymnastics and swimming. Tired just watching the women’s 400m medley.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 29/07/2024 21:43

Evening. Work McWorkFace still. Plus a lunch break spent watering wilting plants. I also i-playered the diving this morning which made me slightly less productive than I'd have liked!

LOL at the idea of MrA refusing to come down from the lamppost Grin and hurrah for today's medals. DH tells me that 'We wuz robbed' on an individual equestrian medal.

LetUsPrey · 30/07/2024 07:25

Morning wenches.

Another sunny day.

Also enjoyed the mountain biking (highlights) which was absolutely crackers.

Today will be mostly trying not to wilt in the office whilst trying to work.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 30/07/2024 08:05

Morning all. I am up and ready for EarlyMorningExerciseClass. Which of course isn't on today due to summer holidays Hmm Oh well. It was sunny outside but it clouding over now - I don't think we're meant to get the same level of heat as elsewhere today, which is a good thing. Today's excitement involves work, a food shop, and not much else.

Hope everyone has a good day.

ApricotCrush · 30/07/2024 16:22

Afternoon. Very hot but quite overcast. I shoved the summer duvet in the washing machine this morning, don’t know whether you’re supposed to, but it’s come up really well.

DH came down from the lamppost but he’s been up the ladder again today cutting the conifer hedge at the bottom of the garden. Hmm

DGS has been here, no driving range today, but he’s been watching the Olympics.

Hope everyone has been able to keep cool.

LetUsPrey · 30/07/2024 20:37

Evening wenches.

Definitely slightly cooler here today but still pleasant. There have been petty shenanigans at work which I am definitely there for Grin

Am now concerned that MrApricot is stuck up a tree. Is he actually part cat? He has no fear of heights does he? Any more ladder work like this and we’re going to have to call out the Trumpton Fire Brigade.

Have been watching more sport. So gutted for the gymnasts, they were brilliant.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 30/07/2024 21:06

Evening. It's been quite hot here, but also quite cloudy and cooled down quickly this evening. Currently watching the tennis. <bites nails>

You know that thing where you scan the text and it's a bit out of order and you come to the wrong result...? I just read that MrA come headfirst down the lamppost Shock Very glad to re-read that correctly! DH has the chainsaw out yesterday, cutting back another tree that has died in the hedge.

I'm here for the petty work stuff LetUs, as long as it's entertaining you. Grin

Tennis is nerve-racking again I saw a bit of the gymnasts but had to go out. Did we come irritatingly 4th?

In other news, can I just say FFAS at the news (slightly old now) that Neil Gaiman has turned out to be a rapey creep. So bloody disappointing - I thought he was one of the 'good guys' Angry

Also, FFS tennis - I was expecting us to lose the last match on the tie break, but now they've got my hopes up by making me think they might win, and they're making a pigs ear of it. (As if I have any talent in that area at all Hmm )

LetUsPrey · 31/07/2024 07:19

Morning wenches.

Hurrah for tennis! DH had that on one tv, and I had the swimming on the other. Honestly the stress! We did indeed come 4th by just over 2/10ths of a point.

Warm but not as sunny today. I have finished the Cardigan of Doom which is currently soaking so I can straighten it into shape and pin it out. Another good day for drying knitting.

Have lovely warm days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 31/07/2024 07:56

Morning all. Bit cloudy here, but still warm.

All hail the Cardigan of Doom! May its wibbly bits be straightened out to perfection.

I have BoringOfficeJob, so must crack on.

Also though <whinge alert> You know that thing where some people asks you to do something urgently? So you make a start, send feed back, and.... <tumbleweed>. FFS. I know that people are busy, but it feels like I'm howling into a void here. You'd think that one of them could maybe respond:
Them: This!! <fluffy of emails>
Me: Well, that.
Them: This!!!
Me: Still that
Them: Do that!!!
Me: Done that, I need to follow up. Is xxx ok?
Them: ......
Them: ......
Me: OK, well I did xy - but feedback please, what about zz?
Them: ......
Me: So I've done zz...
Them: ......
Me: <bangs head off wall>

And KillerKitty just brought a fledgling in Sad on it's last gasp so rescue was pointless (and may have made him clamp his toothy little jaws done tighter anyway). I packed him off outside with it Sad.

Have a good day all.

ApricotCrush · 31/07/2024 16:31

Afternoon. Another hot day but it’s gone cloudy now. I went to sleep in the sun earlier and felt terrible when I woke up.

Yay for the Cardigan of Doom and Grin at Trumpton Fire Brigade.

Hope you’ve managed to sort out the annoying work people Helen.

LetUsPrey · 31/07/2024 21:49

Evening wenches.

I am familiar all too much with that work scenario Helen, together with its variant of
Them - URGENT STOP WHAT YOU’RE DOING AND DO THIS
Me - stops everything else, does urgent thing but needs checking by the senior person who gave it me - please check the work
Them - ….
Me about an hour later whilst now trying to catch up with delayed work - please check the work
Them - ….
Me now fretting and still not caught up - pleeeease check the work and get back to me
Them - oh it doesn’t matter, it’s not urgent now so I’ll check it tomorrow - byeeee

Falling asleep in the sun always seems a nice idea, but yes you do feel a bit rubbish in reality when you wake up.

Cardigan of Doom appears to be straightened.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 31/07/2024 22:35

Urgh LetUs - work people like that really piss me off. I've finally had a partial reply from my lot, and a 'Lets have a call' reply that had other people cc'd in and I have no idea now if that was aimed at me or everyone, or...?!

Still, hurrah for the CardiganOfDoom being put on the straight and narrow.

We had similar weather Apricot, though I didn't get to fall asleep in it - just a brief lunchtime walk. Work felt like it was a continuous stream of 'argh' and troubleshooting problems caused by just about everyone - including me. <eye roll>

FancyFancy · 31/07/2024 23:59

Evening. Wall to wall Olympics here as this is my holiday Grin So basically spending my days glued to the tv & every so often I pause it & rush off and do a chore. As it's been stinking hot here I have been doing loads of washing.

Have particularly enjoyed the gymnastics, the bonkers mountain biking & the exceedingly close rowing this morning. Have just caught up with the swimming from earlier this evening - lovely to see Sjostrom winning, she's been around for ages!

Loved that thread apricot Grin

DD is very happy today - she has 'inherited' a couple of pet rats & they arrived this afternoon.

I've never really got into NG's stuff, so can't say I feel disappointed as such. I'm not entirely surprised though as it seemed he was a bit of a dick during covid.

LetUsPrey · 01/08/2024 07:21

Morning wenches.

Rain but the lovely to listen to sort. Still bloody warm though, but warm and rainy better than cold and rainy.

I caught some of the freestyle BMX highlights. Absolutely crackers and very enjoyable.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 01/08/2024 08:43

Morning. OMG yes, the BMXing! Bonkers!

I also enjoyed that the gymnastics seemed to have Jonny Vegas as a commentator. NO idea who he really was, but his voice was similar enough to get me giggling. Plus the guy who won the triathlon - what a last minute sprint that was! It's just all (mostly) very watchable

Awww at pet rats. Wouldn't last a minute in this house of course.

Sun and high cloud again today.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 01/08/2024 09:52

I'm adding this to the Tav... Grin

Swagger Inn 176 - I'd rather hunt for FAF than Easter eggs
FancyFancy · 01/08/2024 11:06

<takes up residence on the cheese lounge>

I am envious of your rain letus, water butt is empty now so a good top up would be welcome.

Gymnastics commentator chap does get excited, the woman's voice annoys me though. I watched on Eurosport yesterday as it had more coverage but found I did miss the BBC commentators.

DD has wanted rats for years, but not a good mix with cats I don't think - especially ScaredyCat who would have been relentless in trying to get at them. Suspect Chonk and Floof would be less determined - Floof is particularly lazy, he can't even be bothered to groom the garden debris out of his fur 🙄

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 01/08/2024 15:03

Shock at Floof! Shame on him, and with all that fur as well. Though also, respect - what else are human slaves for if not to provide grooming services Grin

Water butts here could also do with topping up. I've had to start watering the veg now as well as the pots.

FancyFancy · 01/08/2024 15:48

And of course pet rats are known as fancy rats......

Floof does love it when I groom him, gets very animated - just as well really as I couldn't leave it up to him to keep himself pristine. He's no FancyCat that's for certain.

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 01/08/2024 16:30

Afternoon. Still very hot here but overcast. We could do with some rain, the lawn is beginning to resemble weetabix.

Love the cheese lounge. Honestly the education in this country really troubles me. Errant apostrophes in particular make me mad. Angry Facebook Marketplace is an education in itself. Hmm

Awww at pet rats. Rats are the only thing in the world that DH is scared of. It comes from being sent under floors when he was an apprentice electrician. Shock
