Morning. Argh, flail etc. Have to taxi DS today as part of the commute. It's school holidays so traffic should be light. Also it's school holidays so they've started major roadworks. Must remember to avoid those and not auto-pilot my way into them.

Hope that everywench has a good day and work is bearable...

(PS - sun here, fortunately not cat vom so far. Just mouse debris.)

ApricotCrush · 24/07/2024 16:19

Afternoon. Back to miserable weather, raining now.

DH took DGS to the driving range again, looks like that will be the routine on the days we have him for the rest of the holidays. Keeps them both happy.

Eeek at the mouse debris.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 24/07/2024 19:39

We have had quite nice weather today, but it's raining here now too. (Because Northern lights might be about tonight, obvs.) Work was workish. Traffic was horrible - the main route in has major roadworks and delays, second choice route in has been shut for a couple of days too. FFS and all that.

I feel we have been lacking in decorations recently. <lobs HBFs about>

Evening wenches.

You’re so stylish with your decorations Helen. Such skill.

Heavy rain this afternoon which fortunately waited until I’d got to the car as I hadn’t taken a coat.

Ooo both MrApricot and DGS off to the driving range again? Jolly good Grin

We also have extra roadworks started as soon as the schools broke up.

Sewing Bee final tonight.

LetUsPrey · 25/07/2024 07:18

Morning wenches.

Cloudy and cooler today.

Not entirely sure I can be bothered with today. Work is such an effort Grin

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 25/07/2024 07:33

Morning.

Also cloudy and cooler here too. Turbo chicken legged it this morning - she usually runs up to search under the bird feeder as soon as I let them out of their pen. This morning she made a break for it when I opened up to feed them. Only to find nothing there, so I had to lead her back down to the coop with her trotting back after me. Idiot hens. Also, one has developed egg-eating habits which is a pain, and is either eating all of them, or they've all gone off laying at the same time. Argh.

Taxi run and traffic carnage awaits...

ApricotCrush · 25/07/2024 17:03

Afternoon. Cloudy day but still quite warm.

Awwww at Turbo chicken trotting after you Helen but Hmm at egg-eating chicken.

They keep chickens at the house at the bottom of our garden. I may have mentioned some time ago that one escaped into our front garden. They’re only little hens and the young man living there gave DH a couple of their eggs the other day and they were correspondingly little. However, when I cracked them the yolks were the same size as ordinary eggs, but the whites were smaller which is great because I prefer the yolks.

Hope traffic and work haven’t been too bad.

LetUsPrey · 25/07/2024 20:32

Evening wenches.

That’s an excellent (eggcellent - I apologise) result with the bigger yolks Apricot.

Dad used to keep chickens. I forget which of the DC it was that used to go and help collect the eggs.

Work was quite quiet up until about 4.20 and I now know there’s lots to do waiting for me tomorrow.

LetUsPrey · 26/07/2024 07:36

Morning wenches.

Little bit brighter today. Actual blue sky and a bit of sunshine with more promised over the weekend.

Hurrah for Friday!

Have great days wenches.

ApricotCrush · 26/07/2024 16:45

Afternoon. Brighter here too and a bit of sun here and there.

I had a shocking night worrying about the freezer which doesn’t seem to be switching off. It’s only about 40 years old! Shock They don’t do cream ones any longer so if it packs up that’s going to make a right mess of the colour scheme in the laundry which is already buggered by the new washing machine. <sigh>

Have a good evening all.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 26/07/2024 19:53

TFIF 🍷

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/07/2024 21:02

Wurble wenches. It's ben a busy few days taxi-ing DS and friends, and having visiting relatives and trying to work as well. Also been travel planning for a funeral at the other end of the country next month. This weekend I plan to very much do nothing at all.

Eggs - yes, bantams are great at producing lots of yolk. Not handy if you want to whip up the whites, but good otherwise.

Apricot - can you embrace the lack of colour coordination between applicances and just aim to get everything mis-matched?

LetUsPrey · 26/07/2024 21:40

Evening wenches.

Friday evening is brought to you by a Pint of Pimms because it’s been that sort of day.

About 15 minutes after I’d posted this morning the skies started going darker and I wasn’t worried any more about being too warm in the office in my jeans. Brightened up a little bit eventually.

I agree Apricot, you should go for an eclectic look with the appliances. Eclectic electrics. So sorry, blame the Pimms.

<pushes Helen into cwtch cupboard> <warbles> Send In The Clones

<pours more drinks> Skål!

Olympics - comment on Twitter:
"I note Sweden were the ONLY country to include anoraks in their official Olympic outfits #practicalswedes" Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/07/2024 22:03

WTF MN? Just because I talked about it, doesn't mean you have to provide a link to Twitter.

Olympic opening continues to be a bit baffling.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 27/07/2024 08:39

So typical Swedes Hmm Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/07/2024 09:48

Morning. It's sort of sunny and also cloudy. A local shop has a 10% off for 'loyalty customers' day so I shall be trotting along to save money express my loyalty. That's the extent of my plans.

Have a good day all.

LetUsPrey · 27/07/2024 10:31

Morning wenches.

I have been to express my loyalty and got money off and a goody bag from the craft barn this morning.

An anorak was an excellent call Grin

DS2 is fully into the swing of the Olympics already, monitoring several different sports at the same time. The opening ceremony was accurately described by Claire Balding as “original”, Michael Johnson as “different” and BBC News “an opening ceremony like no other”.

Usual Saturday with rain messing up my washing plans.

ApricotCrush · 27/07/2024 16:50

Afternoon. Sunshine and showers here.

I don’t know about anoraks, I think they needed an ark at the Olympics, or a number of them. We only watched the last hour, which is perhaps as well. I did love Celine Dion though.

Grin at eclectic electrics. The freezer’s still going, for how long I don’t know Hmm

LetUsPrey · 27/07/2024 21:42

Evening wenches.

I have thrown myself into watching the Olympics with much enthusiasm and will shortly be an expert on a wide variety of sports.

The forecast heavy rain for this morning when I was out and my washing wasn’t never appeared. I really am starting to take this personally. Should have got organised and stripped the beds today to get early wash on tomorrow. However, sport, knitting/crochet and Pimms seem to have got in the way.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/07/2024 23:05

Evening. No rain here, though some dubious-looking clouds. Shopping was done, mowing, laundry, war-on-nettles... also sudokus and watching tv. It has all been very tiring. Hmm

FancyFancy · 27/07/2024 23:54

Evening
Was a manic week at work, particularly the end - Thursday was a stupidly late night, bit frustrating when someone recruited at a higher grade than you spends more time fretting over technical definitions than the getting the basics done. Guess who needed to get the basics done?

Clocked off a bit late yesterday so watched the opening ceremony a bit behind. Agree it was erm...different. Thought the decapitated Marie Antoinettes & the drag cat walk thing were rather tasteless & all that rain was a shame - possibly why some of the dancing was so lame <side-eyes Gaga & those can can dancers> Loved that robot horse & the lit up Eiffel Tower though, and I'm not a Celine fan, but she was impressive.

Have spent today watching the Olympics. That's it really. Squeezed in a few quick chores. Loved the diving - a medal is always good, not least because Leon gets so over-invested Grin

LetUsPrey · 28/07/2024 08:10

Morning wenches.

Sunshine! Oooooo! Made DH get up so I can strip the bed. Didn’t seem to work on DS2. Usual Sunday today with added sport and then barbecue at LittleSis’s.

War on nettles sounds like something from a political speech Grin

Agree with everything you said re Olympics Fancy, even down to excitable Leon! <pushes useless colleagues into dungeon>

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/07/2024 08:39

Morning all. Sunny here too - hurrah! Also no plans (which means gardening and olympics-watching)

ApricotCrush · 28/07/2024 17:27

Afternoon. Beautiful day but I didn’t have enough washing for a load.

DS brought his kids this morning and then this afternoon I sat outside for an hour or so.

I’ve finished the small knitting project and am now looking at the WIPs that are languishing in the cupboard. Hmm

Not really interested in the Olympics at the moment but this thread amused me.
