Met up with six strangers today for a fika, was quite nervous before but it went very well, everyone was nice, but I’m exhausted now.

LetUsPrey · 11/07/2024 19:51

Evening wenches.

Did the bin men turn up Helen? Wenches want to know!

BestFriend ended up like you with pet insurance Apricot. Just didn’t seem to be worth it.

So pleased that everyone was nice at your fika Wicked.

We’ve had lovely sunshine again today. Went to the pool which was more fun than expected and am just back from meal out. It was delicious. In between that I sat outside again and had to take my jumper off for the second time this holiday. This is unprecedented.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 11/07/2024 22:01

Evening. The bin men did arrive and empty out bin - hurrah! We had no sunshine though, so you're doing better them me LetUs - cloudy all day then rain from mid-afternoon.

We don't bother with pet insurance either. It just seems a bit of a scam really - I looked into it, but most of them only let you go to certain vets as well, so we'd need to go 20+ miles - not go to our local vet. So we just figure that what we save on insurance, we spend on vet bills. Especially once they start refusing to insure existing conditions.

Work was workish, capped by a 'have you done this' email, where someone had updated an old version of a file and sent it to me, so I have to merge the two together and work out what had or hadn't been done. Haven't finished actually, so I should have another go before I head for bed. Joy...

LetUsPrey · 12/07/2024 08:27

Morning wenches.

Unbelievably the sun is shining and there’s no wind. Today may involve a visit to an archaeological site which will be loads of fun for DH and DS2. There’s an event which starts today in nearby town so is likely to be rather busy but hopefully not too crackers. DS1 has asked for a fridge magnet so we’ll do a bit of shopping too.

Hope you got the document/file sorted Helen.

Have great days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 12/07/2024 12:46

<gazes longingly at LetUs's holiday>
<works>

ApricotCrush · 12/07/2024 17:14

Afternoon. Same weather, miserable and rather cold.

Well done on the fika WW. Someone I used to know said you should do something every day that scares you a bit, it's good for your self-esteem. Just getting up and facing the day is enough for me now. Grin

I'm so glad you're having good weather LetUs, it makes so much difference to a holiday.

Hope you've managed to sort your work out Helen.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 12/07/2024 17:19

Raaiiiiiinnnnnn. Persistent, light, penetrating stuff that doesn't even splash scenically into puddles. It just seeps into everything. Gloom.

Still, TFI etc, and we're out this evening and tomorrow night. Shocker. Grin

Hope that Fancy has had a good day at work and that LetUs's archaeological site was interesting (and dry).

LetUsPrey · 12/07/2024 20:06

Evening wenches.

Another beautiful day (sorry). We did the archaeological site thing which was very interesting. Did a bit of shopping and got another ice cream. There has been tennis (both watching and playing), and knitting. Now doing the depressing packing everything up thing. But it has been a lovely holiday.

FancyFancy · 12/07/2024 22:36

Evening
Glad the holiday has been fab letus and hope the packing is done and you have a lovely last evening.

Excellent news about the fika ww, but cbf at someone wanting to bring their husband along. FFS

Those are very wise words apricot - that's the sort of advice that has you travelling to a European city to meet up with a bunch of randoms from the internet in the hope of getting to see some hot actors <coughs>

<Vacates post-gigging chaise for Helen>

It's been another busy week - quite a bit of time spent on the phone re parents again, including during work time. And there were IT issues at work, so I have to catch up tomorrow. Also went to a comedy gig on Wednesday - was very good.

OP posts:
WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 12/07/2024 22:59

Seriously Fancy? People actually do that?! Blush Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 12/07/2024 23:48

Evening all <flops onto chaise>

I have been at Cultural Event with DH. We went in one door of the venue and came out of another, consequently I had us yomping back to the car for about half an hour in the rain, rather then the 10 minutes it would have been if I hadn't been so disorientated by the different exit Blush. Also, Big!Tesco was shut by the time we were passing so there is no milk in the house. That will be a fry-up for breakfast tomorrow then.

Still, all home now, and DS has unplugged from the Xbox and is playing along with Metallica on his guitar.

Safe drive home LetUs, <cbf> at work IT issues for Fancy, <safeguarding forms> for Wicked - all this gadding about meeting strangers Wink I 100% agree with Apricot's comment about pushing yourself out of your comfort zone.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 13/07/2024 13:03

Afternoon. It's very dull and uninspiring outside. We had just short of an inch of rain yesterday. I would spend the day on the sofa, but we have no milk so I need to lever myself off the sofa and get some... eventually.

Also got a free gig to go to tonight - the weather says the weather will clear over by then.

LetUsPrey · 13/07/2024 13:38

Afternoon wenches.

We have broken our journey back in BigCity at RelativesNotRelatives. Will catch up properly later.

ApricotCrush · 13/07/2024 16:48

Afternoon. Still murky and miserable outside. DH is back, his weather hasn’t been too bad.

I seem to have started another knitting project. It’s only a small one and I haven’t totally abandoned the other one but it became problematic so it’s gone on the back burner for now.

I know WW, bonkers isn’t it?

Hope you can sort out the family problems Fancy.

Safe journey home LetUs and happy gigging Helen.

LetUsPrey · 13/07/2024 20:45

Evening wenches.

Back home, unpacked and second wash on the go.

<massive wenchy squidge> Fancy re parent calls etc. And also re IT work issues.

I don’t seem to have brought the sunshine back from northern parts <nae>. Perhaps it will show up tomorrow.

Enjoy gigs and out and about <adds extra chaises to gig recovery room>

I’m knackered and have a full on (ish) day tomorrow so the sensible thing to do would to be to have an early night.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 13/07/2024 23:39

Evening all. Gig was v. good and ears are ringing slightly. Fun was had though, and being out Friday and Saturday nights make the weekend feel much longer than usual. Bonus!

DS is busy playing his guitar noisily again. Fortunately it's also mostly tuneful. Grin

Hope that Fancy didn't spend too much of the day working (or trying to sort out parental issues).

You should absolutely get an early night LetUs
<has late night party in hayloft with LetUs>
<nae>

LetUsPrey · 14/07/2024 07:58

Morning wenches.

I feel like I did have a late night party <nae> with you Helen. I didn’t go to bed early because I’m daft.

Glad the gig was another good one.

I’m taking washing out of the laundry basket but it doesn’t seem to be making a dent. Thrilling day ahead of hoping it doesn’t rain so I can get washing dried and then the usual Sunday stuff, although I make sack off the ironing. Steady now.

Have great days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/07/2024 12:06

Morning. No plans here. There is a local outdoor craft fair which I'm vaguely interested in, but which also involves going out and the clouds are looking dubious.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/07/2024 12:07

Also, I'm stuck on a sudoku [grumpy]

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 14/07/2024 12:43

Maybe Misty can help you Helen Grin

ApricotCrush · 14/07/2024 17:18

Afternoon. Still cloudy and not very warm.

Hahahaha, you beat me to it WW, I was just going to offer her help.

I’ve been knitting and watching the tennis with two pairs of glasses on, which isn’t really a good idea. Hmm

It’ll be football tonight then. 🤞

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/07/2024 18:32

LOL at Mistry helping with my sudoku. (I solved it in the end.)

Gardening has been done here, and watching the tennis - hurrah for Alcatraz - no-one has escape him. (Can't remember his actual name Blush ) Currenlty having hot chocolate and looking at worky things/more tennis.

LetUsPrey · 14/07/2024 20:32

Evening wenches.

Managed to get some washing dry despite the best efforts of the on and off dreary weather.

Grin Wicked

I’ve been sewing up and stuffing the knitted food I did last week. I always forget how long it takes. Watched the tennis - vamos Carlos! - and also bloody well done to Alfie Hewett for his wheelchair singles win and to him and Gordon Reid for the doubles. That’s a busy day and a half!

Football is on obviously but I’m watching in a different room to DH and DS2.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/07/2024 21:17

I am in a room with football, but actually we're mostly ignoring it.

I didn't get washing done, but should be ok getting it done tomorrow - no rain expected that I know of.

FancyFancy · 15/07/2024 00:13

Evening, spent more time yesterday putting off doing the work than actually doing it <gives self disapproving look>. Anyhow, it got done.

Spent a very pleasant afternoon today pottering around the garden - tidying, dead-heading & moving some weeds. I have a fine crop of weeds this year - clearly they have been enjoying all the wet weather. Also the nasturtiums are looking gorgeous. Just as well they're providing some benefit as they're swamping the tomatoes Grin
Chonk has actually sat on my lap twice this week - and on the second occasion he wasn't even trying to warm himself after getting rained on in the garden. Parental issues continue <sighs>
