But sadly no-one hid any for me <sighs>

I put the washing on in the sunshine, and now it's sitting in the machine, finished, while I look at the very dark clouds and listening to the rain. <le sigh> And at the two woodpeckers scoffing peanuts from the feeder while the blue tits look on in disgust.

ApricotCrush · 15/06/2024 16:58

Afternoon. Same weather, it’s been chucking it down so we’re racing each other to do sudokus.

Yay for the college thing being sorted.

Much footie going on here too. Hmm

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 15/06/2024 22:03

Evening. More torrential rain and thunder rumbling about this afternoon. I spent most of it working, to get ahead of myself for when I'm out doing the taxi thing for DS next week.

We're watching the new series of The Boys, which is both incredibly grim taste and very good Confused.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 15/06/2024 22:04

Hope that LetUs had a fun time with BestFriend, Apricot won the sudoku races, and Fancy and Wicked had a good day.

LetUsPrey · 15/06/2024 22:52

Evening wenches.

Rain, wind, sun, rain, wind, rain, wind. You get the idea.

Lovely morning with BestFriend. Usual rest of day. Finished a knitted blanket and I’ve done a fancy crochet edge on it. I’ve impressed myself Grin

Love the idea of a sudoku race!

Was the blue tits’ disgust a judgmental sort of disgust Helen? I hope so because that’s how I’m picturing them Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 15/06/2024 22:55

I did feel it was a sort of FFS judgement at me for only having one peanut feeder (and the woodpeckers wouldn't share it)

LetUsPrey · 16/06/2024 08:54

Morning wenches.

They’ll be dropping birdy bombs on your washing in revenge Helen

Usual Sunday with added LovekMIL for lunch and possibly DS1 and his girlfriend later this afternoon.

Unfortunately the ironing won’t do itself so I’d best get going.

Have peaceful days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 16/06/2024 14:13

Afternoon. It has been rain/sun/rain/sun/rain etc all day so far. Today has been domestic chores and emergency Father's Day shopping so far, and will probably continue in that vein.

I did run the risk of birdy bombs and rain by putting the washing out to dry. It got a little bit damp, but was still drier than when it went out. The bedspread is still out, and hopefully I'll get away with leaving it out a bit longer. I ought to go out and do gardening while it's dry really. So far I've lost 2 sunflowers to muntjacs, and 2-3 to slugs. All the cornflowers have either been trampled by chickens, or eaten by slugs. Not entirely sure why I bother sometimes.
<invests in more chicken wire to turn flower beds into fort knox.>
<buys cheap beer for slugs>

ApricotCrush · 16/06/2024 17:04

Afternoon. This is such weird weather. It’s been a beautiful day, and we’ve been sitting outside doing bugger all really.

Shame about your flowers Helen but I had to laugh at cheap beer for slugs. Grin

We’re coming back tomorrow and I dread what we’re going to find. DS has packed all his mountain of stuff into boxes and has apparently filled the dining room, cloakroom and garage. Shock

LetUsPrey · 16/06/2024 20:34

Evening wenches.

Busy day but lovely to see everyone including DS1 and his girlfriend for tea.

Lots of football on again with the Big Match tonight. Already so many “discussions”.

I think I have related the now family legend of when DH told his NotRealAunties to buy beer to make slug traps and then, when we visited, he discovered they’d bought Stella Artois for the slugs Grin

I’ve eaten far too much but am still considering the cake that’s in the fridge.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 16/06/2024 21:48

You should always consider cake in the fridge. Fact.

I did lots of gardening - I have planted out the dwarf beans for the slugs to decimate and forgot to buy any cheap beer. Shock at slugs on Stella! Grin (And the bedspread got dry.)

Hang in there Apricot - this is just a pre-cursor to getting your house back.

FancyFancy · 16/06/2024 23:01

Evening

Am at an AirBnB as I am working away this week. It is very compact Grin DD is looking after Chonk & Floof for me. Report so far is that Chonk is under a bed & Floof is getting bold - will actually wait in the room with her when she feeds them now.

Commiserations about the slugs helen, they have been dining well in my garden this year too.

Right, must get ready for tomorrow, have good Mondays wenches.

Morning wenches.

Crikey sounds like the slugs are taking over. Sales of cheap beer will rocket! Or perhaps the slugs will become immune and there’ll be loads of drunk slugs with the even bigger munchies.

I did not have cake. There was a to do with DS2 so there we are.

Already bored of Monday.

Have lovely days wenches and a safe journey back Apricot.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 17/06/2024 12:57

Urgh, Monday. Have taken DS in for exam prep and exam, and he was a delight and a joy because I made him leave (5 minutes) earlier than he wanted to. Then I did the supermarket thing.

Fancy - that's the problem with metal chickens - they don't do much harm to the slug population (though they also don't scratch up all your plants themselves, so you can't win either way!) Maybe if I get the slugs drunk, then get the chickens to eat them, the chickens will also get drunk and not care about scratching up plants.

On the plus side, the weather's been nice (and I didn't do any washing).

FancyFancy · 17/06/2024 20:12

Good point about the limited skill set of metal chickens helen

We actually have a bit of sun here - would be a lovely evening to be back home in my garden <sighs>

Evening wenches.

Some sun and actually <whispers> felt quite warm.

MiniHelen must be nearly done now? And then he’ll have all that time just stretching ahead of him. I do envy them.

Work was very much there and was very Monday.

Must get an early night. One of these days it will actually happen.

LetUsPrey · 18/06/2024 07:18

Morning wenches.

Early night didn’t happen. Muppet.

Cloudy again but dry and on next week’s forecast I saw a big sunshine!

Work beckons. It’s so mean and demanding. <sneaks into cupboard>

Have lovely days wenches.

ApricotCrush · 18/06/2024 16:43

Afternoon. The journey home last night took much longer than usual as there had been had been accident on the motorway. Looked like a coach had caught fire. Shock

DS had come home with a huge hire van which he had already loaded with his furniture from storage. Of course nothing goes to plan. DH had conveniently booked his car in for service today Hmm which meant me going with him to the garage. My car wouldn’t start so that delayed things but we got there eventually. Then DS and DH went off in the van to sign paperwork at the agents, collect the keys and unload.

In the meantime I needed to go out to do a food shop and other stuff, but couldn’t find my car key. Oops, DH had taken it with him which left me without a car so I couldn’t do anything. I don’t have a spare key as the battery has gone in it and I think it has to be recalibrated or something. To add to all this we were on school run duty. Anyway they came back for another load of the multitude of boxes so all’s well that ends well. It’s been a logistical nightmare. On the plus side the bedroom he’s been using is empty so I can return all my stuff there. Tomorrow should be better.

Hope you’ve all had a good day.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 18/06/2024 17:14

Afternoon all. today I have mostly been playing taxi driver for an external revision session, taking DS for lunch, and then coming home and working. the weather is lovely again and I've done no washing (again)

That all sounds horribly stressful Apricot but at least you're getting the spare room back!

Work is just inconsiderate and rude. We should all be outside lazy in the sunshine.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 18/06/2024 17:15

Also FFS at all the work people who are replying to me asking questions.... whose answers are all in my initial email that they're replying to. FFS RTFM, etc. FML.

LetUsPrey · 18/06/2024 21:59

Evening wenches.

So much stress Apricot! Must have been a relief when you finally got it all sorted.

I shall throw my work in the bin next to yours Helen.

Definitely going to bed soon.

LetUsPrey · 19/06/2024 07:35

Morning wenches.

We have tentative sunshine. Wasn’t organised enough to have a wash ready for this morning.

Dentist after work to have a filling redone that I’ve lost. Same next week too. Living the (expensive) dream.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 19/06/2024 07:41

Morning. Today I'm in 'hit by a bus' levels of tired. Which is unfortunate since it's BoringOfficeJob day.

We have similar weather LetUs and I should get a load of washing on. Whoop. Hmm
<exits left, grumbling>

ApricotCrush · 19/06/2024 16:32

Afternoon. It’s actually gone rather - dare I say it - warm. Also no washing done and I’ve got loads of it.

Well, DS has gone and after driving us mad all this time, I’m rather sad. Ridiculous, but you never stop being a mother. I haven’t seen his house yet, it’s 10 miles away and out in the sticks. I’m sure he’ll be fine; he’s like me, happy with his own company.

Hope dentist has gone well LetUs and BoringOfficeJob Helen.

LetUsPrey · 19/06/2024 17:34

Afternoon wenches.

Even by normal dentist visits that wasn’t particularly pleasant but it’s one done and then one next week. Just waiting for the numbing to wear off.

DS2 has been on another mystery college trip, in that he knew about it but I didn’t. He was muttering something last night about walking boots, I offered to help and got my head bitten off. Some minibuses waiting at college when I dropped him off and he’s home now but I’m none the wiser.

So true what you say Apricot <squidge>

Warm here too but no washing done either. I shall be organised and have one ready for the morning.
