Went to see SATC in original language yesterday. And then went shopping afterwards as I felt I should -Via del Corso though not Via dei Condotti-no Prada /Manolos allowed in the Gio household until the Roman rental market crashes
Glad you got a night out Pippi, v that you have not one but 2 dd's who sleep at 8 (where did I go wrong...)

francagoestohollywood · 08/06/2008 16:58

How/where did you find SATC in original language? I so want to go, but don't want to watch it dubbed!

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 08/06/2008 17:37

oh no! SATC will be on in original language on the 7, 8 and 10 of july and I'm not sure we'll be here. fhjfjhfawjhkrt P4O9!

It will be out on dvd shortly .
Don't think they make Prada in size 8s and I would probably break my ankle just looking at them . Last time I wore 'heels' was pre dh as without shoes we are just about the same height.
Rental market crashing Gio you are full of hope!!!!!! Bit like the buying market in Venice dropping like the rest of Europe.
Dh working all day I hate Sundays esp in Summer everything closed park full of zanzare roll on July 5th.

Sputnik · 08/06/2008 18:37

Had a really boring weekend here too, as DH is away for a few days and it's raining. Plus very grumpy baby, for some reason. It looks like teething but there don't seem to be any teeth imminent, he just got the top ones. Babies, eh. He hasn't been right since we got back from UK, with one thing or another.

Very jealous of your film and shopping trip Gio. Last time I hit Via del Corso was well over a year ago when pg. Did you buy anything nice?

francagoestohollywood · 08/06/2008 18:51

I can't wear heels either. Totally inept. I love shoes, actually, but mi accontento to look at them from the pages of Vogue UK and similar... the cost is !

I'm sorry you had a boring weekend

I wonder if TMMJ and Peagreene hasve got back to the UK and whether the weather has been generous to them and their family...
It started off as a lovely day here and then it rained again in the afternoon...

Hello there, glad you had a lovely time and that you managed to get a nice tan.
I remember going to Venice pre kids and seeing all those children playing in the "campi", not having to worry about being run down by cars... I thought it was great.

francagoestohollywood · 08/06/2008 19:12

mosquitos are evil

yes, tiger mosquitos. I might be wrong, but I seem to remember that they are not indigenous. Another effect of global warming, maybe

OP posts:
Sputnik · 08/06/2008 20:54

Yep, they arrived a few years ago. Pissed me off as we didn't really have the normal ones here (plenty of midges though). They come out in the daytime too.

Peagreene started a thread about being served octopus when she was expecting meatballs

francagoestohollywood · 08/06/2008 21:56

I saw her thread about the polipetti incident . I'm quite fond of octopus though.

I spent most of my childhood holidays in a little village in Piedmont, us children used to count the bumps caused by mosquitoes every night (despite soaking ourselves in autan)

hate hate hate mosquitoes, especially those vicious tiger ones. We sprayed our garden with some heavy duty stuff from Leroy Merlin, so far its better but will wait and see... The Raid plug-in is in constantly in the house and have the zapper thing for them if gets worse. Way more chemicals than I would like but can't cope with being eaten alive for another summer.
lol at polipetti story
i have 2 pairs of heel I own which I wear about 3 times a year! Can't do them anymore, especially with Roman cobbles. DP despairs of me cos go everywhere in trainers or crocs. Nice to dream though of a world where could afford designer shoes and that i could also walk in them . Didnt get anything much Sputnik, a top (smock variety of course )and a couple of books, oh and a few goodies from Lush.
Oh I cannot be bothered to work today....
Franca we have a cinema on Via del Corso which usually shows a couple of the films of the moment in original language. Am generally happy with dubbed films but if its one I really really want to see then I prefer VO still.
How's dc today Sputnik? Still grumpy?

Rosa · 09/06/2008 08:42

Mozzies are getting worse. Last night walking home with dd stopped to answer phone ( round 6.30 ish) within 2 mins there were 3 on her ! We have the zanzaiere at home ( the one made with tape and netting). I only open the windows that have them on - they still get in however . We have the piastrine Raid on pm and I want to get that Raid night and day thing but can't get it here as it seems good. I hate the smell of those things but now dd wakes when there is one buzzing round her and she gets horrible bolle if I don't get the cream on straight away. The park is terrible as the commune don't do anything so in the morning when its still damp they are in force and then again when the shade hits in so from about 4 ish ..Great !

francagoestohollywood · 09/06/2008 08:59

rosa, that sounds like a nightmare! So the comune doesn't do the disinfestazione? I think they do it here in Milan. Some yrs they get the timing wrong and there are more mosquitoes around. At the moment it is ok mosquito wise.
Gio, lol at dreaming of a world where you can afford posh shoes and most importantly can wear them in style . I do that too. I used to receive vogue uk every month in the UK, that was my fix of elegant lifestyle .

I feel like bombarding you with questions re satc, but I shall be STRONG.

Pippi how was the bbq?

OP posts:
Brangelina · 09/06/2008 09:26

at all the mozzie horror stories. We haven't really had any yet, but that's probably because it hasn't really stopped raining long enough for their wings to dry or something. Bl*°dy rain, I swear that there's this spiteful storm cloud with a direct line to my washing machine, as just when I think I can hang out my washing because it's not raining, a fat pregnant cloud obscures the sun the moment my machine enters its final spin cycle. GRRRRR!

Am glad TMMJ had good weather and managed to get a tan , I would have felt guilty had it rained all the time.

SATC I will watch when out on DVD. I'm not that into it any more as it's been so long since I watched it on TV, so I can hold on till the DVD. I wouldn't mind seeing the new Indiana film at the cinema (well, DP wanted to see it), but I heard it's not that good. Has anyone seen it?

Rosa, I work for a marketing consultancy and print management co. Nothing terribly exciting, but safer than being a spy now that I have offspring and all that....

Pippi, how did the bbq go? Did you have good weather?

francagoestohollywood · 09/06/2008 09:33

I hate getting old. I still remember the excitement of watching the first indiana Jones, I was 11 I think. Now, I have no desire of watching the new one , with harrison ford so invecchiato ...

OP posts:
Brangelina · 09/06/2008 09:43

Yes, I remember the first one. Worse still, I went to the cinema to see Grease when it just came out. I remember trying to get in to see Saturday Night Fever too, but it was an 18 film and despite copoious amounts of make up I never managed to convince the ticket person that I was 18.

The scariest thing that has made me feel old is that I'm in touch again with someone from school whose eldest is now 18, and she didn't even have her babies particularly young.....

francagoestohollywood · 09/06/2008 09:47

I went to see Grease 3 times! I was 9 I think. I so wanted to watch saturday night fever, but too young. Watched it as soon as it got on tv.
And Star wars, I went to see it so many times that my family run out of people volunteering to take me. Even my aunt's ex was digged out

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 09/06/2008 09:47

OP posts:
Brangelina · 09/06/2008 09:54

Yes, me too with Star Wars. I used to have a crush on the then Luke Skywalker.

I still know all the words to the songs in Grease, when I clean the bathroom I sing Hopelessly devoted to you at the top of my voice.

francagoestohollywood · 09/06/2008 10:01

I was hopelessly in love with Luke Skywalker in the first episode. And then his face sort of changed in the second . Never found out what happened to his face.

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 09/06/2008 10:02

(first episode, ahem, read 4th. 2nd read 5th )
