Welcome!

did you see that documentary where an English journalist gets a cheapo tummy tuck in Malaysia?

Gosh, I didn't know that I had to find a guardian for the dc ! Dh would have them, wouldn't he? If not a joint venture beween inlaws and my parents. I like my brother and his wife but I don't think they'd want them.

OP posts:
PippiCalzelunghe · 05/06/2008 16:47

it is only in the case that both you and dh go.
I do not think is much of a decision if you get along with your ILs and if you are all near eachother. I like my brother and his girlfriend as well, very much and I am sure they'll have them, my brother adores dd1. there's food for thought, thanks franca...

francagoestohollywood · 05/06/2008 17:00

oh gosh, yes, of course! (dumb emoticon).

DH and I have had this conversation but he doesn't see a need to do anything official I do. I know SIl would love and care for them if anything happened to us but I disagree with some of her methods and also my sister and bil have a better lifestyle and could offer them so much more . So I had thought that up to age 11 ( before staring secondary school) if anything happened they should go to the UK. After they would have more 'lives' and should stay in Italy but whichever they should be in touch with both cultures. I want to make it official but dh just doesn't see the importance !!I haven't made a will either have you ???

francagoestohollywood · 05/06/2008 18:43

Is there a need to make a will in the Italian system? I mean all my properties (ahahahahahah) would go to the dc, wouldn't they?

In our case there is as:

  • we're not married
  • everything is in my name (DP is nulla tenente)
  • DP still hasn't got around to getting divorced (hence him being nulla tenente)
  • DD has dual nationality and her closest relatives live in 2 different countries so guardianship should be specified. Also we're both dead against DP's family getting anywhere near her, so we need something to solid in place.

I also hate the rule whereby you are obliged to leave you assets to spouses/offspring in certain percentages. This makes it difficult for me to decide what to leave to DP as 50% of anything he gets will have to go to his DS, which in the case of our flat, is not fair on our DD. Stepson is already sole beneficiary of the ex marital home so he would effectively become a property mogul if he has part of ours as well. For the rest I don't care, I just don't want DD to lose out.

I was reading an article on 9/11 and there was a story about someone who lost everything because she wasn't married to her bf who died. I don't want to leave DP in that kind of mess.

Brangelina · 05/06/2008 19:53

Oops, sorry, a bit rambling and incoherent. I wrote that whilst trying to explain something to DP at the same time. He was being a bit slow so I had to explain in greater detail and got distracted.

Franca - did you buy your glasses or that top today?

francagoestohollywood · 05/06/2008 21:42

no, I didn't buy the glasses nor the top, but:
1 have legs, baffi and eyebrows waxed
2 got carried away and bought an exfoliator
3 lost time in Feltrinelli and bought the secret history.
4 gave in to the dc's requests and bought sugarsnap peas (they love to eat them raw in Exeter. Used to buy then at the weekly farmers market. They costed £££ but the things you do for vitamins) and cherries at our local veg shop. They devoured the peas and the cherries in 5 mins flat . Raw peas are nicer in devon (if bought at organic farmers market)
So, I would have saved money buying the top

spot the difference!

OP posts:
Brangelina · 05/06/2008 21:45

Lol!

But then in theory if you use the exfoliator you'll be saving on future leg waxes and so will have more money to spend on future tops. Does it hurt getting your brows done?

What are sugar snap peas in Italian? Or are they just piselli freschi?

francagoestohollywood · 05/06/2008 21:55

the exfoliator is for the face though. Have run out of exfoliator and latte detergente at the same time.
I suppose it's piselli freschi but the sugarsnap peas I got in Exeter where, well more sugary.

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 05/06/2008 21:56

It hurts, yes. But I hate the pinzetta more.

OP posts:
Brangelina · 05/06/2008 21:58

I am being thick today, I got confused between exfoliator and epilator. Obviously spent too much time trying to decipher Turkish websites today. I think I will go and lie down now....

francagoestohollywood · 05/06/2008 22:01

are you planning a holiday there?

OP posts:
Brangelina · 05/06/2008 22:02

No, it was for work. Very boring too.

I still haven't sorted my holiday out. Have you already booked?

francagoestohollywood · 05/06/2008 22:07

Yes, we are going to Menorca, we are sharing a house with other three families (friends of ours by the way, not random people )

OP posts:
Brangelina · 05/06/2008 22:10

Ah yes, now I remember. I think I really should go and lie down right now, my synapses are a bit creaky this evening.

'Notte!

hate pinzetta too. it's slow pain versus quick one.

the dds have behaved impeccably with babysitter and were in bed at 8. very happy as we can do this again and again and again .

had a great meal and quite a bit of wine (dd2 will get drunk today ).

dh reckons sil will never forget and will be hung up about this forever! playground stuff really.

francagoestohollywood · 06/06/2008 08:18

Great, well done dear Pippi . No, dd2 won't get drunk. The weirdest thing happened to me with ds. I didn't drink any wine for more than a month when he was born, I didn't feel like it, and was to knackered. Then one night I had half a glass of red wine, and after ten mins, my mil said: "Franca, I don't want to scare you, but your face is covered in red spots". I looked like Pimpa . The spots disappeared after half an hr. It hasn't happened since.
Why am I telling you this I'm not sure...
Anyway, I wouldn't worry, unless you drank a whole bottle of vodka
