Welcome!

Apologies for hijack, quick question for Rosa and all you lovely people living in Italy...

What's the weather like?

Sorry to sound dreadfully british by asking that but I'm in Tuscany in 8 days, then at Lake Garda the week afterwards, and the BBC have been forecasting rain, rain and more rain over the last couple of weeks, and for the coming weeks.

Please tell me the forecast is gloriously wrong and there's not a shred of truth in it?

Brangelina · 15/05/2008 23:07

Hi Peagreene
There's not been much rain here, in fact it's been lovely the last couple of weeks apart from 1 day of thunderstorms, so if the BBC have said that the weather's been crap they're talking out of their bottoms. It is supposed to be grim this weekend, but no one can forecast more than a few days ahead, so I don't get how they're predicting the coming weeks.

If you're leaving in 8 days then it's best if you post nearer the time to get a more accurate report. Generally though this time of year is lovely and the weather is pretty reliable, so you'll probably be OK.

francagoestohollywood · 16/05/2008 08:26

Hi Peagreene, the weather has been gorgeous for nearly 2 weeks. April has been quite rainy though.
Not sure about the forecast for the next weeks. As Brangelina said June is usually a dry month, actually it can get extremely (at times unbearably) hot, so brace yourself !
Post here before you leave, we'll tell you whether you'll need to pack vests or raincoats!

Poor pippi, how are you coping?
I am going to buy Vogue now that you have mentioned it franca....been feeling sleepy all week, no matter how much i sleep, i feel like having a snooze....perfect state to look at vogue and fantasise...
Crap weather is here again....

Brangelina · 16/05/2008 10:36

Hhell, how many weeks are you now? Do you know what you're having? I empathise with the sleepiness, I've been very sleepy all morning and I'm not even pg. It's probably the crap weather (it's very cloudy here today too).

francagoestohollywood · 16/05/2008 12:52

Gosh I'm sleepy here too! I'm knackered. It's the weather and the start of my period.

hotHELL · 16/05/2008 13:22

don't know flavour of baby, must be around 20/21 weeks, slept all morning.......

Rosa · 16/05/2008 13:29

I am sleepy infact kanckered but Dh did the biggest cavolata he has done in a long time and I am trying to recouperate a bit of the total mess he has made. He re set the computer ( fine he has done it before ) i had warning so I salvato all the documenti. This time he decided NOT to save Outlook he has always done it in the past. He said he saved my e mail messages but up to 2 weeks ago only. SO I am left with no Posta inviata, No indrizzi e mail , 2 weeks of posta arriviata ..I am running his buisness so that means I have none of the above - no dates of when I sent fatture ( Ok they are written in pen on the originals but if I need to chase via e mail) He has cancelled out bookings that I am working on - again thank god I printed them off but it means ihave to re load all tables etc. My e maisl meesges are saved in 2 blocks and I have to scroll down about 200 to find one - I cant cut and paste them out . He whilst doing this also has done something to MY laptop and it is not so slow I can't carricare anything. I am spitting mad and we have 4 tours arriving this weekend and I can't even re check that I booked everything !!
X lui non e una grande cosa ma voglio vedere quando non arriva soldi !
Have no fear all his computer games made it over ok.
Vogue and a Sofa Hot do it for me !!!!

francagoestohollywood · 16/05/2008 14:46

OP posts:
Brangelina · 16/05/2008 14:51

Blimey!

That's exactly why DP is not allowed to fiddle with either of my computers. On pain of his stupid computer games ending up in the cat food.

PippiCalzelunghe · 16/05/2008 15:18

rosa che casino!!!! you sound like you could kill him!!

dd1 in A&E with dh as gp sent her after she kept throwing up every 20 min all night and would not hold down even a drop of water. waiting for update since 12.45!

PippiCalzelunghe · 16/05/2008 15:25

dh just called they're going to put her on a drip to give her some fluids and keep her in for the night !!!

Rosa · 16/05/2008 15:36

Pippi I missed the first message ...Is dd2 ok as well being so little ?
Is dd1 coping ok in hosp and Dh is he the calmo type?
Do they think its a nasty virus or anything else?
Hope that she gets better soon poor thing
Hugs from over the water.

francagoestohollywood · 16/05/2008 15:53

oh poor dd1 . Sounds like gastroenterite? what do they say, are they running tests?

OP posts:
PeaGreene · 16/05/2008 16:04

Thanks for the weather reports! Better than Michael Fish... Franca, I may well come back for an update. Have been thinking I might have to buy a pac-a-mac this weekend and really don't want to take one.

francagoestohollywood · 16/05/2008 16:07

Peagreene, it's raining heavily in Milan at the moment !!!!! Do come back for an update before leaving

OP posts:
PippiCalzelunghe · 16/05/2008 16:10

dh mentioned the grastroenterite actually, not sure whether they'll run tests, l'd hope so.
dd2 is fine for now. unfortunately us 3 girls were all in the same room last night as dh was being a tw*t so she might have caught it! I bet he feels like shit now !

PippiCalzelunghe · 16/05/2008 16:11

franca what happened with the midwife thing?

PeaGreene · 16/05/2008 16:11

Thanks. I've been usingthis today which says you're in for a fairly ropey few days. Should brighten up just in time for the holiday makers arriving for half term. There's a few of us on our way from MN I think.

Hope Pippi's daughters are better today. That sounds nasty.

hotHELL · 16/05/2008 16:12

pippi how stressfull, can your dh stay in with her? maybe better if it isnt' a virus, so the rest of you don't get it.
havent been skinny for a long time, look like un ippopotamo and proud of it...
poor rosa, i would lose it completely, what is it with men and computersssss??

francagoestohollywood · 16/05/2008 16:19

Gastroenteritis is usually viral so, it shouldn't last for more than 2 days and doesn't need antibiotics. I think hospitals allow small children to stay with one of their parents.

Pippi, the test to get into midwifery is at the beginning of Sept, so I should start studying

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 16/05/2008 16:21

Peagreene yes, severe weather is expected in the next 36 hrs

Sputnik · 16/05/2008 16:26

Well I'm back from the UK, it was ... hot! I was wearing sandals and am now back in my boots
Had a great time.

Congratulations on your results Rosa

Franca, Topshop now deliver to Italy, quite cheaply IIRC (I am walking database for online shopping sites that deliver here, and relative rates). I agree with others re nursery, go with your gut feeling. My DD goes to state scuola materna, but in the next village as the one here is a hole. I take her 4 days a week as 5 is too many IMO. I never consulted the school, just did it.

Pippi, I said I'd post those exercises then disappeared, sorry. Will do some stretches later but meanwhile a really good one for lower back: get a chair, lie on your back on the floor and put your feet on the chair. Raise your hips up until your body's in a straight line. Repeat 15-20 times
Hope your DCs are better.

PippiCalzelunghe · 16/05/2008 16:41

no worries sputnik. it did get worse by the way and gp advised on excercise so will do asap .

don't worry about bad weather we're back with the heating on in here too!

so you are doing it franca! that's brilliant! must think of smthg to do myself once mat leave's over!

hotHELL · 17/05/2008 10:23

Morning everybody, woke up late and dp and ds are out, must be the first time ever dp takes ds out without consulting me, discussing what to do, i think dp has understood that with this pregnancy what i need is lots of sleep and more sleep, and generally to be left in peace....
How was the night pippi? How are you generally coping with demands of 2 kids, house to keep going, cooking, etc?
Off to Italy next week with an open ticket, better check the weather, effing crap here i agree...
