Thanks ladies I/ we are still in shock convinti that it would be a boy !!

Today I wore finally nice comfy clothes instead of jeans and let my tummy hang out then spent Eu 28 on Prenatal knickets with the guiana ( I cannot spell that ). DH said you don't need more than 1 pair do you ??????

francagoestohollywood · 14/05/2008 12:49

I remember I got one pair when expecting ds, as I had lots of braxton hicks and thought guaina might have helped...

I bought the band on its own and it was rubbish it kept slipping and digging in.
I was working with dd1 and did lots of standing up so the pants were an investment but I wore them over tights ( with knickers underneath !!). Its going into summer and seeing as all my bits are floppier the second time round I thought it best to help them be propped up a bit. Thing is they prop up the ciccia as well

PippiCalzelunghe · 14/05/2008 13:25

great news rosa !! yuppie!!!!

gio71 · 14/05/2008 21:34

can I ask opinions ladies?? I have had the same cleaner for a year now. my dp has always been against her having a key (he's the paranoid sort)and I want to put my foot down! It's a pain as means I always have to be around. Do any of you guys have cleaners and if so do they have keys?

Rosa · 15/05/2008 07:59

I have had one for over 5 years now same lady . On and off sometimes as she goes home a bit ( she has a 10yr old son there) She is from the Ukraine and very very trustworthy. SInce she has been in Italy she has rebuilt her house and is currently studying law to return to Ukraine with a 'future'. I had no qualms about giving her the key in fact she used to collect the key weekly when I was at work .
Its all a question of trust if you feel you can trust her then fine why does dp have doubts ???

Busy day ahead Gio have a fantastic time in the UK and spend lots of money ( on you as well as Ds!!)

francagoestohollywood · 15/05/2008 10:12

My mum has had the same cleaner for more than 15 yrs and she'll have occasionally the keys (the cleaner leaves the keys dalla portinaia if my mum is not home), and she occasionally has them to feed the cat if my parents are away (rare occasions)
Most of my friends with cleaners leave them the keys. I noticed that often the cleaners are upgraded to the status of babysitters...

I had a cleaner for a while in the UK when the dc were little, she came once a week in the morning, so I was usually at home. We got into the habit of having a cuppa together and we became very good friends. She is a yoga teacher now.

'often the cleaners are upgraded to the status of babysitters...' that's us!
Ours always had keys from quite early on tbh. we are the very (too much at times) relaxed tipes - money and passpors left around from day one. Never had any problems.

A tip: please if you haven't already do read 'A diary of a provincial lady' by E.M. Delafield. You won't regret it.

francagoestohollywood · 15/05/2008 11:01

thanks, will look out for it!

Brilliant news Rosa! Una doppietta

at all you lot with cleaners. I must get myself sorted out for next year, when we'll no longer have nursery fees. DD's babysitter was our cleaner before that, although she was afraid of the hoover. How often do you guys get your cleaners to come?

I second recommending that book, I read it many years ago, it's very amusing.

francagoestohollywood · 15/05/2008 12:09

no, I don't have a cleaner at the moment... if fact it took me half a morning to clean the floors... as I spent most of my time on mn

mine comes once a week and it's the best day of the week! I HATE housework but also hate a dirty house so I tend to have a quick clean each morning, without too much effort knowing once a week it'll get blitzed. Best money I spend! Think will give her the keys, thanks!
Rosa-dp has doubts because he is a dick! (hope my words won't come back to haunt me ) who despite his oh so liberal lefty persona outwardly, inwardly doesn't trust anyone who wasn't born and bred in zona, preferably lo stesso palazzo!

Brangelina · 15/05/2008 14:14

What nationality is she Gio? I must admit I too have weird prejudices - for some reason I trust pretty much anybody Asian (particularly Filipinas and Indian sub continent) yet am oddly wary of Western Europeans. There is no scientific basis for this prejudice, it's probably because we had "staff" when we lived in the Far East so maybe I'm just more used to them. Also, I once had a Romanian cleaner, who was lovely, but she had a really dodgy husband, so I tended to always be around when she cleaned. I really hate being around, though, I feel like Hyacinth Bucket!

gio71 · 15/05/2008 14:16

filipina
I know what you mean re hating being around, I loathe it, feel incredibly guilty as if she is looking at me and thinking dirty, lazy English cow!

Brangelina · 15/05/2008 14:19

Filipina will be OK, they are usually lovely.

I always used to have a quick scoot round before the cleaner came (and this is from someone who does no housework whatsoever) as I was embarrassed about the mess. I used to hate it when she made my bed too, always had to do that myself.

francagoestohollywood · 15/05/2008 17:31

lol at gio's dh being suspicious! gio, when are you off?
Dh is back obviously without the dresses from Topshop. What a coward!!

i'm the one who blitzes before and while she is there - trying to help - if i'm in! the one we had here were all either polish or other eastern european countries.

both daughters decided to vomit the entire content of a full stomach, one all over my trousers and jumper, the other on my bed within half an hour.
I feel a hundred y.o.!!!

francagoestohollywood · 15/05/2008 19:30

Oh dear. I don't like cleaning vomit...

Dh came back from the UK with vogue, living etc and the guardian
