Welcome!

The 3min from your home might prove to be very useful in the futurre though... Unless your DS's school is on the way to private nursery or something?

francagoestohollywood · 12/05/2008 14:33

They sing lots of songs, count, and watch a cartoon, which serves as a listening comprehension thingy. Yes, not sure how useful it is, especially for the pronunciation, but at least they exercise their memory.
Any rational person would send her to the local nursery. But I'm not rational
have to dash

OP posts:
Brangelina · 12/05/2008 14:43

Sometimes you need not to be rational. I could have sent DD to a nido which is 10 mins walk away, but no, chose to send her to one which is 15mins bike ride away, all because it gave me a better feeling in my pancia, not for a concrete reason. I'm so glad I sent her there now, so it's paid off.

at watching a cartoon. But then I suppose I could get involved and contribute some of DD's Mister Men or Pooh dvds, then the teacher will be eternally grateful and not criticise DD for saying something that's not in the book. Or am I thinking it out too much?

francagoestohollywood · 12/05/2008 15:46

no, they don't watch any cartoon, it's a cartoon made precisely to teach English. There is a main character, there's a story they follow, they repeat words, etc... what used to be done with tapes at my time (listening comprehension etc) is now done with dvds... it's like using those lavagne connected to the pc at school instead of a blackboard

OP posts:
Brangelina · 12/05/2008 16:09

Oh. Damn, I won't be able to use my vast collection of DVDs as bribery. Never mind.

Where is Rosa???? I've bitten all my nails off and have nothing left to chew, apart from my toenails and I ccan now only reach my right foot.

francagoestohollywood · 12/05/2008 16:16

rosa mentioned going to a festina this afternoon. Keeping my fingers crossed for her.

OP posts:
Brangelina · 12/05/2008 16:19

Ah, I see. Well I've got to go and get DD so will check in later.

Rosa · 12/05/2008 18:42

No news.......AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Ormai will be domani penso .went to a festa and no palloncini ok the festa was for a 7 &9 yr old we went as the little sorella is dd age. DD was not amused but soon passed with chocolate cake !

Brangelina · 12/05/2008 19:13

Oh no Rosa! I'll have to chew my right toenails after all! At least no news is good news, if a diagnosis is bad they get in touch straight away usually, don't they?
If it's any consolation I had to wait 2 weeks for someone not to phone (i.e. if it was bad they called you, if all OK they didn't) and spent a long weekend trying to calculate what would be considered 2 weeks (calendar days or working days). Even then I didn't dare breathe a sigh of relief until I'd got that bit of paper in my hand 2 weeks later.

Rosa · 12/05/2008 19:24

Brang I would be chewing them as well if I could reach mine. Am saving my nails as have a wedding next weekend . I am doing pretty well at chewing dh head off snapping generally . I should get it in writing in 2 weeks as well but I should be getting a call from doc . It has to happen domani or I will go nuts..Maybe I already have.
Rosa makes note to send Brangelina a pack of false nails ......

Brangelina · 12/05/2008 19:47

Lol! Don't make them too long or I won't be able to go to the loo.

Positive vibes for tomorrow then.

francagoestohollywood · 12/05/2008 22:28

Oh dear, I was hoping you got that phonecall rosa. Positive vibes from me as well

OP posts:
gio71 · 13/05/2008 08:00

positive vibes making their way from Roma to Venezia Rosa
Off to UK on Fri for 10 days. Boots here I come
And M&S flapjacks here I come
Have you decided re dd and nido yet Franca?

francagoestohollywood · 13/05/2008 09:20

Bring back some M&S carrot cake please!!!!!
Dh is in the Exeter at the moment, have written a long list of things I want, even curry paste. Have sent him a link with two dresses I fancy from Topshop. Dream on, Franca... I doubt he'll oblige .

No, I haven't decided yet. My heart tells me I should keep her at the private scuola materna, as the staff is superb. Rationality tells me to send her to scuola materna comunale, my dear friend has a dd there and she swears on it. I trust her (unfortunately I wasn't here for the school's open day in december), plus the dirigente of the primary school ds will attend in Sept told me that it's very good. Argggg decisions!!!
I'm taking ds to visit his primary school on Thursday.

rosa!!!!

ehm, franca, what dresses do you want from topshop???? i am a bit curious...

francagoestohollywood · 13/05/2008 10:01

I always manage to find things I like in Topshop. It was my first port of call in Exeter.

this

and this: so Marni

OP posts:
Brangelina · 13/05/2008 10:37

Wot, still no news????

Aah Topshop, I've always found their sizing very hit and miss. I could never have bought anything without trying it on. I was more of a Miss Selfridge girl in the 80s/early 90s

Lucky Gio going back for 10 days. I was supposed to be going back for work in this period but it's now been decided to move the meeting to Paris or Frankfurt. Alas there is no longer an M&S in Paris.....

francagoestohollywood · 13/05/2008 10:50

Yes, the sizes are weird. I've bought in 3 different sizes in Topshop. But I find that sizes are all over the place nowadays.

Brangelina, surely Paris offers better places than M&S?? (with all due respect for M&S really - I'm addicted to its tuna pate for instance -, but I find its clothes range quite depressing).

Miss Selfridges has occasionally very good styles, but the quality of the fabric is very poor, I find.

OP posts:
Brangelina · 13/05/2008 11:03

Yes, Miss Selfridge has gone downhill I lot since I was a habituée.

I know Paris has a lot more to offer than M&S but it doesn't have "proper" sliced bread and thick'n'chunky marmalade. Not going for the clothes, agree they are foul, but then I find French clothes not very generous in the bust so may not find anything suitable. Fret not, I have made a long list of cheeses I want, I shall probably stink the plane out on my return. Here's hoping we don't get sent to Frankfurt, I have nothing on my shopping list for there (the last time I went I kept getting offered pork knees, not really my thang...)

francagoestohollywood · 13/05/2008 11:12

ah french cheeses......

mind you, I wouldn't mind spending a whole afternoon at Printemps...

OP posts:
Brangelina · 13/05/2008 11:16

Am not sure I'll have a whole afternoon free. If so, I have earmarked a trip to Galeries Lafayette....

hotHELL · 13/05/2008 15:20

Galerie Lafayette???? sooo jealous....
agree that MS clothes are dire, i remember a thread on here some months ago taking a piss out of them, who buys those horrible clothes i wonder?
i like your choices of ts dresses franca, but agree that i could not send dp to buy them, would need to try them on...
hope rosa is ok....weahter changing here at the weekend, down to 15 degrees, of course it is 30 round my parts!!!

Rosa · 13/05/2008 15:31

hotHELL · 13/05/2008 17:38
