Hey,
I'm not really sure how to use this website so apologies if wrong.
So I'm at my mother in laws house for Xmas and she had just brought herself this VERY expensive sofa for herself as a self gift.
she has just had it delivered today and its a brand new white sofa, as I have two boys (6 and 7) I told them not to go on it but my mother in law INSISTED they could go on it.
they had just finished watching TV and were getting ready for bed when my husband alerted me to the fact that someone had obviously eaten a baby-bell and than somehow sat on the wax, there is now a VERY noticeable red patch on the sofa.
I have removed the excess wax but there is still a stain.
my boys and mother in law are in bed now but I dont know how to remove it.
me and my husband dont have the money to replace this sofa and my mother in law doesn't really like me as it is.
Does anyone know how to remove cheese wax from a sofa?
Thanks.

If I were you I'd be telling your husband to organise a train home!

Nanaof1 · 01/01/2024 11:40

OP--awaiting your update and hoping you told your NVDH to get his mummy to drive him home, or he can take a train, hitch a ride, walk, use a pogo stick.....

He doesn't have your back at all, so I would not put myself out for him in any way, shape or form. How dare him chastise YOU for his own mother's poor behaviors.

Yes - I’m hoping he actually came home yesterday and didn’t leave you on your own on NYE.

That would be a nice gesture! I am hoping they have had a few long talks on the phone too.

I am going to hope right along with you!

I hope you ok OP?

OssieShowman · 01/01/2024 20:57

Hope you and the kids are ok? DH has gone too far, hope you never have to see the MIL again.

Hayzl · 02/01/2024 00:11

@jennan I hope you are ok.

MIL sounds jealous of you imo.
Like it was any excuse to get rid of you and only you- glad you took the kids with you.

Your DH needs to stand up for you now/ moving forward. She obviously knows she can create a wedge which she's done and probably enjoys.

You should show DH this thread to help him see how strangers view his mother!!!!

Hey guys,
Sorry I have been really busy, thanks for all the responses.
My dh came home just in time for new years as apparently his sister left early to get back to her dog (new years fireworks) and he isn’t too close with his brother, so he decided too come back and be with the boys and I for new years.
He was annoyed with me at first but we have spoken about it and realise that mil was over reacting and dh apologised for getting annoyed at me before hearing the whole story.
im going to delete this thread now as i feel bad talking behind my dh back.
Thanks for all the advice and help.

@jennan but did she get the wax out of the sofa?!

Beeswood · 11/01/2024 02:06

I am glad to hear your DH came back for New Year and listened to you.

ChateauMargaux · 11/01/2024 10:54

Did you check his trousers?

Who put the baby bel out?

Is he going to tell his mother that none of this is your fault and that he and she behaved unreasonably?

Theunamedcat · 14/01/2024 10:01
