Just setting this up in good time so we can link to it before we lose each other...

Hello ladies,
thank you again for all your kind words and thoughts. We met baby Eris yesterday and I had a cuddle which was so very sad but felt like the right thing to do for me. She looked so peaceful and just like she was sleeping.
SIl was refusing visitors yesterday and then had to go to theatre for GA and further repairs, she also had a blood transfusion but I have just heard that she is being discharged today, so am hoping she is feeling up to seeing me later, I just so need to hug her. We also had to clear their house of all baby things yesterday and move the people carrier they had just bought .

Egg - I am still not sure about Friday, I would love to come and see you all but I need to see how SIL is doing first. Can I send you a text tomorrow morning or is that too late for you to let the doula know? Hope the 6 week check has gone well.

Fred - That is just such great news, could not have happened to a more deserving person, I am on the edge of my seat waiting to hear more about the deal and wondering if some of your good luck will rub off on any of us?

Dropdeadfred · 12/03/2008 12:18

Oh Marmite.that has just had me intears thinking about it..
Did SIL want all the baby things clearing?
Don't get rid of them all though will you, she may in the end want things as a reminder.

Thanks for your kind words Marmite (and eevryone else) I really don't deserve them!

fryalot · 12/03/2008 12:36

yeah, you know what girls, fred's right, she doesn't deserve anything nice happen to her.

I'll have all the money instead.

fred - now be good and accept that we love you and are happy for you

Dropdeadfred · 12/03/2008 12:42

Oh marmite your post has me in tears too . I think I would want to have a cuddle with Eris if I was in your position too, and it was lovely that her parents were happy for you to, I hope they took lots of pics of their lovely baby girl.

Of course you can let me know whenever you are sure of what you want to do. I have told my doula not to come on Friday anyway, as had told her initially that I wouldn't need her so didn't really want to mess her around anyway. I really honestly don't mind if you don't let me know until Friday morning. BUT, can you tell me what you and your lovely DD might eat (is she picky like my DS1?) so I can make sure I have something in just in case?

Our check up went well, yes they are NINE weeks tomorrow, not SIX, I think it is actually supposed to be an 8-week check, not 6, although not really sure.

Anyway, DD has an umbilical granuloma which is nothing serious. She no longer has an umbilical hernia though, and has had the silver nitrate put on the granuloma which helps it to heal. DS does have a small hernia, we think from pushing his poo out .

They passed all their checks [phew] and confirmed my own thoughts that i do indeed have a fatty and a ratty. DD is a mere 8lbs 4 and DS is a hulking 11lbs 3. So since they were born he has gained 6lbs and she gained 3.5lbs . No worries though, she is on 9th centile but she was last time she was weighed too, and he is now on 75th........

Phono lucky we no longer live in Putney or DH would have been delayed as well today and be ultra grumpy.

Squonk glad your DP is liking his job. Seems like just yesterday he was going for the interview!!!

Fred, I think you should allow yourself a little champers here and there until the money is in the bank, and then a LOT when it is all safe and sound in there.

Are you going to change your honeymoon plans at all?

Right, am starving, time to stuff myself with something brown and sugary.......

egg - glad the check-up went well and that the egglets are healthy and doing well. Ouch at ds2's hernia... did they say whether he is in any pain with it?

phono - work? that makes a nice change

squonkette update:

everyone is in bed

marmitemad · 12/03/2008 21:26

Egg - dd will eat anything, I'm the picky one! I did not expect you to cook for us and was planning to bring sandwiches but we would normally have scrambled egg on toast or cheesy crumpets or something like that as dd eats her main meal at 6pm. I would still very much like to come as long as SIL is doing ok. Glad the check up went ok, at the weight diffs, hope ds2's hernia is ok?

I suddenly had loads of work to do as well and had to leave some of it for someone else to do which is not really all that good.

Squonk - Been meaning to say that I have now got the March book club book and started reading it last night. Are you doing this one as well? still haven't finished small island but thought I need to make sure I finish in time for 25th March.

fryalot · 13/03/2008 07:24

marmite - yes, I'm doing it but Amazon haven't delivered it yet. I am expecting it today.

Twill be great to have you on the chat later. We often get the author in to talk to us as well, but I'm guessing that's not going to happen this time

parents' evening tonight, so I will probably be around most of the night (Unless there's anything on the telly)

Did you all see that Misdee's pregnant? Thought I'd share in case you missed it

Squonkette update:

dp - work (for his vvvvvvv long day)
dd1 - watching cbeebies
dd2 - watching cbeebies
ds - watching cbeebies
me - wondering if I can be bothered making a fire or if I should just put two jumpers on me and the littlies.

Egg · 13/03/2008 09:41

Marmite fab if you can make it, but as I said please don't worry if tomorrow morning you want / need to spend time with SIL and cancel at last minute I will completely understand.

We have eggs, we have bread, we have cheese, and we have crumpets, so looks like we will be ok. I remember you did bring a sarnie last time (but we hadn't met and had no idea that there would be a flood and you would be stranded at chez Egg!!!).

DS2 managed EIGHT hours between feeds last night. He was fed at 9:50pm, puked halfway through it, then slept til 5:45am!!! DD managed 6 hours so all in all a good night.

This morning was a bit stressful for poor DS1 as he was trying for a poo for ages. He ate wholemeal toast, weetabix and loads of fresh orange with juicy bits in but he didn't manage it and I had to take him to nursery. He never poos at nursery. We were about half an hour later than normal as I let him try for a while but I gave up in the end. As soon as we got there he went off to a corner and tried again poor lad. Nothing happened. He had been a lot better lately and was managing one a day...

Anyway. All ok with fatty and ratty. Both dozing and will be woken for baths shortly (they have stinky necks).

I want to join the book club but there's no point as I am never online in evenings as always either busy or in bed.

Right, time to get the chores done so I can relax a bit later on hopefully.

Oh marmite, we are at far end of road once you turn in (end near park) and I have a permit for you to put in your car when you arrive. What time do you think you might get here? Have Tesco man coming between 9 and 11am (he will undoubtedly arrive when I am trying to feed babies), he is bringing supplies (crumpets!).

If you DD needs a nap whilst here she is more than welcome to go in the spare, never been used before cot in the babies room (they don't really sleep up there in daytime).

OP posts:
Dropdeadfred · 13/03/2008 10:48

am jealous now..squonk shall we suprise\them by turning up and scoffing all the crumpets?

Egg · 13/03/2008 12:01

Did I tell you what happened to the last packet of crumpets? I heard that DS1 liked them at nursery so bought him some last week for first time I tried him with them about a year ago. It was a pack of 8. He ate one and the packet was gone in less than 24hrs .

OP posts:
fryalot · 13/03/2008 12:02

sounds like a plan, fred.

Although I think perhaps the surprise element has gone now

dd2 just told the neighbour that I go to the pub and leave them on their own!!!!!

Egg · 13/03/2008 12:12

at DD2 squonk!

But surely it's true? You've been leaving them alone since DS was a few days old haven't you . DH and I go out to the pub every night and leave DS1 in charge .

OP posts:
fryalot · 13/03/2008 12:17

well, yes it's true.

BUT DD1 IS OLD ENOUGH TO LOOK AFTER THEM
(shouting in case the SS are watching this thread)

marmitemad · 13/03/2008 12:18

Egg - what time do you feed babies? I was aiming to leave home by 09:30am so should get to you around 10:30am. Hope you've ordered extra crumpets for the surprise guests!

Phono - thanks for your FB message and mobile number.

am feeling a bit better today after a full nights sleep (with the aid of red wine and pills ) although SIL is still not seeing anyone.

We had a really good swimming class this morning, dd didn't cry at all even when the instructor held her for a moment .

Egg · 13/03/2008 12:56

Babies feed at all sorts of times. Don't worry about that. Today it was 11:20am. If I was actually doing the routine it would be a bit earlier but not likely to be much before 10:30am.

Hmm, pack of crumpets is only 8. Looks like the "surprise" guests will have to go without.

Yes indeed Squonky, people have babysitters younger than your DD1 don't they? I can't WAIT to be able to leave ours and go to the pub, but I think I have another 12 or so years to go .

OP posts:
fryalot · 13/03/2008 13:13

egg - I'll lend you dd1 for a week in the summer

fryalot · 13/03/2008 13:15

in fact... If I lend her to each zappata for a week, factor in a week at my mums and a week at my dads... that's only one week I have to listen to her saying "but I'm booooooooooored"
