Thread 175 - will we never shut up?! Pull up a chair and have a good whinge about domestic tedium and annoyingly fictional HBFs... (once we've finished the other thread).

Morning wenches.

Phew for no more rain Helen. What a pain about your slippers though. All day spreadsheeting sounds way more fun that it should do.

Have to go into town this morning. Have to get organised re some birthday and <whispers> Christmas stuff.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 04/11/2023 12:02

Morning. Rain started again this morning and the water rose 3cm overnight, FML. We will be fine, but FFS!

<le sigh>

Happy shopping LetUs - I should probably do the same for some new slippers. also need to check trains and hotels for upcoming trips.

It's chucking down here, I have my own pool on the lawn now Confused

The blob is two weeks late, here's hoping.

Hope you'll be allright Helen.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 04/11/2023 15:43

And I'm really inspired to make hot chocolate with whipped cream now Helen Smile

ApricotCrush · 04/11/2023 17:00

Afternoon. Raining all day here.

Oh gosh Helen hope it’s stopped now. My slippers are looking a bit tatty, I think I ought to get some new ones.

Hope the shopping went well LetUs. I really can’t be bothered with present buying, I think everyone will get money this year. DH and I haven’t given each other presents for years.

Fingers crossed for you WW.

LetUsPrey · 04/11/2023 19:10

Evening wenches.

Shopping was a bit of a mixed bag with some shops being unexpectedly shut. Did get DS2 some pyjamas though.

Fuck off rain and leave Helen alone. And Wicked. <pinches a marshmallow>

I’ve fucked up my knitting. It should be rescueable but I’m so cross.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 04/11/2023 19:28

I thought I posted. Obviously not.

More rain today, for most of the day, but not heavy so only about 4mm. And the water in the garden has gone down a teensy bit (a couple of mm.), so hurrah.

I have stewed apples and done travel arrangements. I haven't been out to buy slippers though, I'll just carry on complaining about them.Hmm

I need to look in the present box - I've lost track of who I have and haven't bought presents for in advance!

<feels smug in new slippers>
Have had a lazy day - bit of gardening, grocery shopping & a few chores. Only Connect is lined up for this evening, truly I live an exciting life. Out for a meal with DS & DD tomorrow which will be lovely and expensive

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 05/11/2023 07:44

Morning all. Off to sporting activity/event all day today.

Water levels have risen minimally. Idiotkitty has been a little shit (jumping on IntelligentCat) and is being cute now, demanding cuddles before we leave, so I'm multi tasking with KittyCuddles and one-handed typing on MN. But I need to get ready.

Have a good day all.

Evening wenches.

Fireworks went on for hours and hours last night.

That sounds just about the right level of excitement Fancy. Enjoy your meal out.

I really hope you get whatever period of dry weather you need Helen. Hope sporting event goes well.

Usual stuff today with the added bonus of unravelling the knitting I spent hours on yesterday to the point where I went wrong. Still cross at my own stupidity.

ApricotCrush · 05/11/2023 16:26

Afternoon. Sun and showers here. We didn’t have much firework annoyance last night, but I’m expecting more tonight.

Sympathy with the knitting LetUs. I’m putting maple leaves in Swiss darning on my jumper and it’s rather complicated so I seem to be undoing more than I’m doing. I’ve done 5 out of 16 so far. Hmm

Have a lovely meal Fancy.

LetUsPrey · 05/11/2023 17:17

Evening wenches.

Fireworks have just started up again. Oh good.

Rain and not rain all day.

Shock at doing the maple leaves Apricot! That’s very impressive.

Usual Sunday things here with additional re-knitting.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 05/11/2023 22:36

Evening all. Sporting thing was good, and then the fireworks were flashy-bangy-sparkly noisy things for 10 minutes or so. Weather has stayed dry, and water levels are pretty much static.

Am, as ever, in awe of wench knitting skills - even when the knitting goes wrong!

Morning wenches.

Urrrrrrgghhhh Monday uuurrrrggghhhhhh.

Heres’s to water levels dropping Helen, and nice things all round.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 06/11/2023 07:58

Very Urgh to Monday. And also FTFO to the flood water which lulled me into a false sense of security yesterday, then rose another 4cm overnight. Is our garden tidal now or something?! Poor chickens now have paddling pools instead of dust baths Sad Angry

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 06/11/2023 16:40

Afternoon. Reasonable day. I put some washing out and it semi-dried.

We've just been to collect DH's car from the garage. It's cost a blooming fortune, but it could have been a lot worse, so in a way we're relieved.

Poor chickens with their paddling pools. Hope the water subsides soon Helen.

LetUsPrey · 06/11/2023 19:53

Evening wenches.

I’d say the day picked up around 5.45 which coincidentally is when I got home.

We’ve had rain for most of the day. Hopefully some of it will have diverted from falling near Helen. Can chickens get poorly from getting too wet? Hope they’re okay.

Eeek at car repair but at least MrApricot has his car back and it’s good it wasn’t quite as expensive as feared.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 06/11/2023 21:13

Just finished reading The Running Grave, anyone else finished?

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 06/11/2023 21:53

Evening all. I have spent the day doing multiple shuttle runs to vet/school run/club etc. while trying to get work done in between.

Idiot Kitty has an abscess on his tail from too much fighting other cats. He has to have drugs twice a day - due the next dose in 10 mins or so. Of course, he has sodded off outside. Hmm

DH says that the water has gone down about an inch this evening. We'll see what it does in the morning.

Hurrah for getting MrA's car fixed - boo at the cost Sad
I haven't even bought it Wicked Blush I haven't been out near a bookshop since it's been out. Wonder what the waiting list is at the library... Was it good?

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 07/11/2023 07:38

Morning wenches.

Also not bought it yet. Local bookshop has been out of stock the last few times I’ve been in. I’m due a visit soon though.

Oh IdiotKitty you daft thing. Hope you got the next dose into him without serious injury to yourself Helen.

Raining again/still.

<goes out of Tav>
<circles round the back>
<sneaks into hayloft>

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 07/11/2023 09:35

Morning.

IdiotKitty is being remarkably cooperative re. drugs. The vet did say that they 'didn't taste horrible' - I presume from experience of other cat reactions, rather than personal experience Confused Grin I also have all sorts of instruction about if and when to take him back in, depending on when the abscess dries up.

Water has held steady overnight. <whispers 'whoop!' so sod's law doesn't hear me>

I quite fancy returning to the hayloft too...

ApricotCrush · 07/11/2023 16:39

Afternoon. Nice day, I did a bit of hacking pruning of the wisteria as it’s bin day tomorrow and we wanted to fill both bins. There’s only one more collection left this year after this one.

I haven’t bought The Running Grave either WW. Nor Ink Black Heart. Blush I found Troubled Blood a bit hard going, but I’ll get round to it before the next series.

Oh dear, silly IdiotKitty. Hope he’s better soon.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 07/11/2023 17:45

The Running Grave is ok, I think, I mean JK is an excellent writer but not one of my favourites.
