Thread 175 - will we never shut up?! Pull up a chair and have a good whinge about domestic tedium and annoyingly fictional HBFs... (once we've finished the other thread).

Evening. Tiiiiiiiiiiiired (but much mowing was done, etc.)

Hmm at Chonk and his issues. (Cats are idiots.)

Hope that knitting/sewing/caravan prep went well. Noisy train man can FTFO.

Morning wenches.

Not surprised you were tired Helen after your visit to Much Mowing. Hopefully you don’t need to go to Plenty Weeding at any point.

Usual Sunday and LovelyMIL coming for lunch.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 24/03/2024 10:36

Morning. It's windy and cloudy and intermittent internet this morning. Joy.

Sadly a trip to Plenty Weeding is also needed, but I am channeling my inner Athos - 'Who has time?'

The new excitement in my life is 'DS needs a prom suit', so I measured him up yesterday and was then bamboozled by the size charts online. I think I'm going to have to torture him take him shopping to try on actual clothes - even if we end up buying online for more choice.

Today is going to be a 'tidy the house' day to make is vaguely presentable. Hmm

ApricotCrush · 24/03/2024 17:13

Afternoon. Lovely day, we all went up to the crem as it’s my dad’s anniversary and had a walk around. I find it so peaceful there.

Prom suit for MiniHelen??? Where has the time gone? They’re all growing up so quickly.

Nice that you’re doing lunch for LovelyMIL LetUs.

Hope WW is recovering from her op.

LetUsPrey · 24/03/2024 19:47

Evening wenches.

<has flashback to prom suit shopping with DS2> it’s fine, it’s all fine, I’m FINE. We just ended up in Next at the cheaper end of what was available in the small selection

A walk round the churchyard with DS2 in his pram when he was a baby was always nice and peaceful.

LovelyMIL is having a few wobbles (physically and mentally) so it’s been suggested that we all try to help her keep busy. She has quite a bit going on socially but weekends can be not as busy. And she’s super nice too so it’s not any sort of hassle.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 24/03/2024 22:12

Evening all.

Gardening things have been done (the new chickens are settling in nicely), and some tiding has been done (the spare bed is now usable, rather than being DS's dumping ground for xbox stuff!) Also washing. What excitement. Hmm

Monday tomorrow. Hurraaargh. Thoughts and prayers for everyone.
<crawls under duvet to hide> It's going to be a fairly busy week too I think. Various stuff on (some of it even fun!), and end of term, and, and, and...

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 25/03/2024 07:42

Morning wenches.

Good news re chickens Helen.

Yes, it’ll be a busy week because by late Wednesday or early Thursday people at work will realise oh crap long bank holiday weekend and there’s all this stuff on a deadline I’ve not done.

Miserable weather here. What happened to March being in like a lion and out like a lamb?

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 25/03/2024 08:14

Morning. It's nice and still and sort of hazy sunshine through the clouds. Fairly lamb-like, but March isn't over yet.

DS is off to school and I'm tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiied #BrokenRecord

Also, photos on Twitter of filming Strike. TB is standing on the street looking glum, next to what looks like one of those warning notices that filming will be taking place. It won't happen, but I'm very entertained by the idea that the series will include a street scene with a 'filming notice'. I'm still wondering how they're going to film that book, which made a thing of multiple simultaneous text conversations. I suspect there will be lots of exposition "Don't read that - let me explain it to the viewers you."

ApricotCrush · 25/03/2024 17:34

Afternoon. Grey sort of day. We went out to get some cat litter from the local pet shop and visited three garden centres on the way to have a bit of a mooch around.

I'm almost packed for tomorrow. We want to get going early so we can arrive around lunchtime. I'm knackered, I need a holiday to get over the preparation. The weather's not looking too good, but it doesn't matter, it will be a break. DD & Co are joining us on Thursday. Bit Hmm about leaving DS in charge of the house, I think he's still a teenager he still acts it at times.

Good that the new chickens are settling in well Helen. I still haven't bought the Strike book, must get round to it before the series starts.

Hope work hasn't been too bad LetUs.

LetUsPrey · 25/03/2024 21:33

Evening wenches.

Rain for most of the day. Am also tired. Work was worky but am focusing on short week and long weekend.

Hope you have a relaxing time eventually Apricot. Safe travels tomorrow.

Grin at filming notice being part of the programme.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 25/03/2024 21:37

Evening all. Nothing exciting going on here. Taxi-ing for DS after school, work. laundry.

Your day sounds fun Apricot - or the mooching round the garden centre anyway. Not the packing so much - or at all. I'm not a packing fan either. Have a lovely break - I'm sure DS will hold the fort without and problems.

Hope that everyone has had a good day.

LetUsPrey · 26/03/2024 07:36

Morning wenches.

Doesn’t seem to be raining which is progress I suppose.

A string of weird, unsettling, upsetting dreams last night with lots of waking up in between so I’m really raring to go for today. I know I’ve got a morning of figures and calculations so what could possibly go wrong?

Perhaps breakfast and a brew will help.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/03/2024 12:40

Afternoon all. I have been running about like a blue-arsed fly, without actually getting any work done. I was meant to be out this afternoon to catch up with a friend, but she's just cancelled. So that's one less thing, except I still need to go out because I said I'd drop stuff off on my way. <le sigh, etc>

Hope that everyone is having a good day and Apricot has arrived at the caravan with no fuss, and all packing done!

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 26/03/2024 17:39

Afternoon wenches. We’re at the caravan, weather’s a bit miserable but it doesn’t matter.

The first day is cleaning up from the winter. We usually get a bit of mould in the kitchen and bathroom but it seems worse this year, probably because it’s been so wet. Misty is knackered by it all and is asleep in her bed.

Hope everyone’s had a good day.

LetUsPrey · 26/03/2024 20:01

Evening wenches.

So annoying when that happens Helen. Hope the bluearsed flying became less necessary as the day went on.

Flipsake at increased mould Apricot. Understandable because, as you say, wet but still a pain. Awww at tired Misty.

Last night’s disrupted sleep is properly catching up with me. I shall try to get an early night.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/03/2024 22:04

<tucks LetUs into the hayloft>

I think we all identify with Misty Grin

Morning wenches.

Wonder why I had a dream where I was getting married again? GrinSame dress (yeah right), same shoes, remember feeling panicked because I couldn’t find my necklace and earrings. Then DH - who I wasn’t remarrying but who was going in the car with me - turned into JayZ wearing a full matador outfit. Including hat.

Feel like I’m dragging myself to the end of the short working week.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/03/2024 07:57

Morning all.

That's a fantastic bonkers dream LetUs - it's those little details. Not just Jay-Z, but Jay-Z dressed as a matador Grin

I have final year end stuff to finish up. Think of me kindly, etc...

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 27/03/2024 17:04

Afternoon. Chucked it down all night but brightened up this morning so we went into nearby big town and did the usual Poundland/Savers shop. I also bought some wool which I don’t need, but fortuitously I seem to have packed some needles. Hmm

Last night the microwave blew up. ShockI put a potato in there, went into the lounge to draw the curtains and when I came back it was billowing clouds of smoke. We flung all the doors and windows open and waited for it to disperse. As luck would have it, we have my mum’s old, very basic, microwave here so I was able to finish the meal.

That is one very bonkers dream LetUs.

Hope Helen’s end of year stuff has gone smoothly.

LetUsPrey · 27/03/2024 19:57

Evening wenches.

Rain. Wind. Repeat.

Hope year end went as well as it could Helen.

Love a Poundland and/or Savers Apricot. Grin at just happening to have packed some knitting needles. Eeek at exploding microwave!

I’m so tired and I’m tired of feeling tired what feels like all the time.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/03/2024 23:58

Eek! Apricot, and LOL at the fortuitous knitting needles.

Year end is done, and too late if not. I ran away for a mini-meet since one of Fancy's list was performing locally. Fun was had, and now I'm very tiiiiiiiiiiired.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 28/03/2024 07:40

Morning wenches.

That sounds a lot of fun Helen (except for year end)

Short week nearly done!

Have good days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/03/2024 09:31

Morning all. We had about 5mm rain overnight (and this morning just as I came down to feed chickens - the heavens opened). No plans for today yet, other than playing taxi and potential prom suit shopping. [horror]

Have a good day LetUs - TFI, etc.
How's wicked doing?

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 28/03/2024 16:29

Afternoon. Heavy showers and very cold. Snow on the distant hills this morning.

DH has been karchering the van and decking today and the noise has been horrendous. Poor Misty hasn’t been able to get her 18 hours sleep in. DD & Co will be arriving later.

Glad you enjoyed the mini-meet Helen and hope the suit shopping went well.

Have a good evening all.

LetUsPrey · 28/03/2024 19:57

Evening wenches.

Good grief the rain! Surely it has to stop soon?

Thoughts and prayers re suit shopping Helen.

Thoughts and prayers also for Misty and her sleep deprivation.

There was as usual the last minute crisis (or five) to deal with at work which included me trying to calculate and redo a complicated bill in a rush which someone else in charge had left to the end of the week and NiceColleague having to stay a bit late. No matter now though as it’s the long weekend. Hurrah!
