Thread 175 - will we never shut up?! Pull up a chair and have a good whinge about domestic tedium and annoyingly fictional HBFs... (once we've finished the other thread).

Always nice to have some appreciation helen, although I hope they haven't only just noticed your competence, as it is pretty blindingly obvious!

That must be rather irritating apricot, it's not as if there's no commentary on the tv of the snooker.....

<hopes letus didn't get lost in the fog>

Looking forward to more Ghosts this evening Smile

LetUsPrey · 12/10/2023 21:47

Evening wenches.

Unfortunately found my way to work through the fog and didn’t accidentally end up back at home.

Does MiniHelen have a college preference yet?

Gosh how generous of MrApricot to keep you updated Apricot.

We’re pacing ourselves with Ghosts and just doing in episode per week.

Been to see DS1 tonight Smile

LetUsPrey · 13/10/2023 07:33

Morning wenches.

Raaaaiiiinnnnn which seems to be covering most of us, and winds expected later here. Perhaps Wicked is staying dry.

I suppose at least it’s Friday and I have Monday off woohoooo!

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 13/10/2023 08:37

Morning. All the wind and rain when I woke up today (so no discernable sunrise). Told DS I'd give him a lift to the bus stop, so of course the rain had stopped by the time we left. Then the bus didn't arrive because it had been early for once. So I've already been out on the 'missed the bus school run'.

Spreadsheet hell today at BoringOfficeJob (Though being a spreadsheet demon, it's actually fine - just... concentration will be required.)

Have a good one all.

Afternoon. Tipping it down all day. I went to do some jobs this morning and whilst out went to the wool shop to see if they had anything of interest in their closing-down sale. They didn’t. Sad

On the subject of knitting, I’m going to have to undo quite a bit of the sleeves on the latest project. The trouble with making it up as I go along is that my vision doesn’t always work out. I really should plan more but I can’t wait to get on with it. 🙄

We’re watching Earth with Chris Packham on the iPlayer. I don’t know how I missed it when it was on. It’s awesome, so much I didn’t know.

Have a good evening all. Wine

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 13/10/2023 18:12

LetUsPrey · 13/10/2023 19:13

Evening wenches.

I’m absolutely knackered despite having slept okay for a change.

I still think it’s amazing how you just make up a pattern/item as you go along Apricot. I think I’ve seen some of that Earth programme but I’ll get it all off iPlayer.

It really doesn’t help when school/college buses are early does it Helen?

I’ll have some of that later tonight Wicked.

LovelyMIL has broken her foot. Thinks it happened today but has no idea how she’s done it.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 13/10/2023 21:38

Oh no LetUs - hope that MiL is ok.

We have had aaaaallll the rain this afternoon. About an inch since 4pm I think. So obviously I was outside unblocking the gutters Hmm (Just the one actually, on the single-story extension, so it was ok.)

DH is out, DS has gone up to bed watch YouTube on his phone, so I'm reading my book Grin Except I just heard DH get home, so I probably won't be reading much after all.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 14/10/2023 07:49

Morning wenches.

Thanks Helen.

Oh that feeling when ooo it’s quiet and you can settle down to read your book and ahhh it’s so lovely and then you hear the door. I’ll just put the book down then.

Out early (for me for a Saturday) for flu jab.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/10/2023 10:06

Morning. I leapt out of bed this morning, at 6:45, cursing because my alarm hadn't gone off... then figured that I might as well just get on and feed the livestock anyway.

Lots to do today - not least work because freelancing stuff is mounting up and I want to clear the decks a bit so I can concentrate on a new project on Monday. Which is also a bit annoying because it's chilly, but lovely and sunny outside and not the sort of weather than makes me think 'I'll just stay indoors and peer at a screen'. Ho hum...

Hope the jab is uneventful LetUs and that everyone has a good day.

ApricotCrush · 14/10/2023 16:35

Afternoon. Sunshine and showers and very cold. All our windows were streaming this morning, the worst we've ever known them. We took advantage to clean them all so it didn't matter. We've put the heating on so hopefully it won't happen tomorrow.

Hope the jab was alright LetUs. I had my covid one on Wednesday and I'm letting my arm recover before I have the flu one, although this time it wasn't too bad. Your poor MIL, hope she soon recovers.

LetUsPrey · 14/10/2023 19:39

Evening wenches.

Our windows were the same Apricot. We didn’t clean ours though Grin

Urgh at having to work today when the sun’s out Helen. We had all the rain from the afternoon on.

My arm is sore. Woe.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/10/2023 21:39

Evening all. No rain here (after the 4cm yesterday) but the wind was cold - went out for a walk this afternoon with a hat on.

I haven't had any jabs yet, but I should organise a flu one at least - work said they would pay so that's extra incentive.

Nothing interesting to report - I got the work done that I wanted to do, but not a lot else. Oh, and my work computer decided to lose any internet connection. (Cue memory sticks and file transfers to a machine with internet.)

Hope all's well at Chateau Fancy.

<pours Wine and Gin all round>

LetUsPrey · 15/10/2023 08:40

Morning wenches. Brrrrrrrrrr.

Must remember for future jabs, left arm and not the side I sleep on. Muppet.

LovelyMIL has phoned. She’s got the boot thing on and she’s fine. I could hear DH not believing her. He was right. Her other leg is very swollen. But she’s sure it’s nothing to worry about. It would be easier if she (and my mum and dad too) would just say when there’s a problem instead of it all being “fine”. Thinking about it, my grandma was the same. Banged her wrist but didn’t want to make a fuss and tried to muddle on. No, it was broken.

Today will be washing and ironing and visiting.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 15/10/2023 10:27

Morning all. I thought I'd already posted, but obviously not. We have blue sky and clouds here, but it's chilly. I need to get out and do gardening, so the clouds will probably empty over me at some point.

Parents seem to be the same the world over "No, we're fine..." <le sigh> (Though I suspect I'm just as bad/stubborn.)

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 15/10/2023 17:05

Afternoon. Lovely sunny day, but cold. We went out for lunch as it was DGS2’s birthday in the week.

Yes, I’m the same, if you manage to see a GP with a problem, it’s always a number of tests months apart at different venues and there probably isn’t a solution. I have neuropathy in my feet and when I mentioned it to my GP nine years ago, she just said ‘see how it goes’ so although it’s progressive I don’t think there’s any cure, so I just put up with it.

Have a good evening all.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 15/10/2023 17:13

Evening. Hope all wenches are well. Don't know where the weekend went, as usual. Been to an early Christmas market today, they had a lot of excellent food stuff there so a lot of sampling Smile I bought way too much Grin

I'm impressed with your knitting skills Apes.

Watched The fall of the House of Usher on Netflix. It was very well done but not that scary, more chilling. It's by the same people that was behind The haunting of Hill House wich I still really really like, watched it over again a couple of weeks ago.

LetUsPrey · 15/10/2023 19:03

Evening wenches.

I shall start practicing now to aim for between “something hurts, pay me lots of attention” like I am now and “honestly I’m absolutely fine and my leg isn’t hanging off or anything” Grin

Happy belated birthday to Apricot DGS2. Hope lunch was delicious. I prescribe sitting with your feet up Apricot.

Important to try as much as you can Wicked, avoids expensive mistakes <nods>. Scary stuff isn’t my thing, too wimpy.

I’ve been knitting today. Put off the ironing to tomorrow when I have a lovely day’s leave.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 15/10/2023 21:05

Evening all. I have been v. busy in the garden (with added rain) and cooked tea and stuff. And now I'm tired and headachy and meh. FMHeadaches.

It's chilly though - northerly wind and all that. DS is busy reciting maths things at us about finding angles and areas and triangles, so I'm baffled.

I think that deciding on “something hurts, pay me lots of attention” and “honestly I’m absolutely fine and my leg isn’t hanging off or anything” depends entirely on whose attention you're likely to receive Grin

Morning wenches.

There is of course always that aspect to bear in mind Helen Grin

Day off today woohoooo so I have of course woken up sneezing and with a sore throat. Hoping it’s because we caved and put the heating on but FFAS.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 16/10/2023 08:03

FFS LetUs isn't that just typical? <has sneezing fit in sympathy> I have also been waking up with a sore throat the past two days, which I'm hoping is down to snoring rather than illness <sneezes again> because DH has a big sporting thing next weekend and will not want me to have brought any covid or similar into the house to stymie his plans.

Our heating also kicked in overnight, and there's a ground frost outside. The sunrise was very pretty though - all pink through the trees.

I have taken more drugs overnight and this morning and the headache seems to have sodded off at last. Hope everyone has a good day.

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 16/10/2023 16:35

Afternoon. Cold and cloudy, haven't been out.

Sorry about the sore throats and sneezing, hope it doesn't come to anything.

I've sorted out the sleeves on the jumper. Misty was watching the pile of wool on the floor as I re-knitted it. I was expecting her to pounce at any time, but she seemed transfixed. Grin It's not really that difficult WW, I know the numbers of the stitches and rows to make the basic pieces that fit me, then vary the necklines, sleeves, patterns, yarns and colours.

LetUsPrey · 16/10/2023 19:47

Evening wenches.

The only bit I’d be capable of doing there Apricot would be changing the colour, the yarn at a push. Changing any part of the pattern or neckline is beyond my ability so yes, you are flipping amazing.

Hope you’re feeling better Helen and that the headache stayed away.

I did some housework and laundry and made flapjacks, but have spent the rest of the day knitting. I finally sewed up and put buttons on the two baby cardigans I’ve made for imminent great niece/nephew. That took ages but it’s done.

Just watching Africa - there’s two bull elephants having a fight. They basically just bash their heads together. One of them’s just lost a bit of tusk.

LetUsPrey · 17/10/2023 07:25

Morning wenches.

Don’t think there’s any frost this morning but I haven’t properly looked outside so I could be wrong. It does happen very occasionally Grin

Back to work today so snotty nose has miraculously cleared up.

Have excellent days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 17/10/2023 07:46

Morning all. No forst here either, not much sunrise to speak of either. The dirty grey clouds are now being gold-rimmed and scenic though, so it's making a bit of an effort Grin
Flaked out with another (or the same) sodding headache last night. Fingers crossed that it's Really gone now. Am still sniffling though.

LOL at Elephants fighting - basically very large goats then. Also awww at hypnotised Misty.

DS hasn't come back so I assume he didn't miss the bus today, though he left it late. I have to go do stretchy yoga-ish things....
