Thread 175 - will we never shut up?! Pull up a chair and have a good whinge about domestic tedium and annoyingly fictional HBFs... (once we've finished the other thread).

Afternoon. Mostly cloudy with occasional sun.

No productivity here, I feel I should be doing stuff but can’t find any motivation. The throat is still very painful but the other aches and pains seem to have gone.

Oh dear WW, I sympathise. I’ve stopped buying clothes, I reckon I’ve got enough to last me. Hmm

LetUsPrey · 21/10/2023 19:29

Evening wenches.

Been to see DS1 today. Took LovelyMIL to see their new house and then she came back for dinner. She is so nice but I find it difficult these days to be “on” and sociable for long periods of time. It would apply to anyone so it’s not her. It is definitely me.

Apricot don’t feel like you should be doing stuff, you’re still poorly.

Drinking Pimms and watching Strictly now.

FancyFancy · 21/10/2023 23:47

Drinking ginger beer & watching Only Connect here.

Am rather fed up of all this rain, although feeling thankful the storm wasn't close to me, sounds awful elsewhere.

Oh that is a bugger apricot, I hope you're feeling better soon. I've not been at all bad the last 2 times I had covid, but it does linger which was very tedious.

Ah yes, I have that issue with empire lines ww <curses current fashions>

Hope you managed a relaxing evening letus

Finding a perfectly dissected mouse alimentary canal on the stairs is a definite downside of cat owning. The sainted FancyCat never left me one - her area of expertise being hairballs in unlikely places, but ScaredyCat did.

LetUsPrey · 22/10/2023 09:04

Morning wenches.

Hayfever symptoms and asthma being shite this morning. It’s like I’ve done a full work out in a meadow in the middle of summer whilst the grass was being cut in neighbouring gardens.

I’d forgotten about Only Connect. DS2 and I must have quite a few episodes to get through.

”hairballs in unlikely places” made me Grin

Usual Sunday here, once I’ve woken up a bit more. Not sure I’d trust myself with an iron at the moment.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/10/2023 10:55

Morning wenches. It's rather nice and sunny here, so I should get dressed and do stuff <side-eyes garden>

Not sure what happened to last night's post - I obviously forgot to hit 'post' <le sigh> I think I was agreeing with the 'being social for a long period' thing, and generally nothing else of any interest (since I an't remember it!)

DH is out all day being sporting. DS is glued to the Xbox but needs to do college applications. The cats are asleep on various beds. Sensible cats.

Hayfever symptoms and asthma can FTFO - it's autumn. <Paddington Bear Stare at symptoms>

Afternoon. Weather not doing much here. Me not doing much either. Hmm

I do know what you mean LetUs, I can't be sociable for long. Even having DS staying here is stressful. I'm not entirely comfortable in the house with an extra person here. I know that's not fair as this house is always his and DD's whenever they want, but I've been used to it just being the two of us for so long.

Have a good evening all.

LetUsPrey · 22/10/2023 20:14

Evening wenches.

I knew wenches would understand.

Very sensible cats indeed Helen. An example to follow.

You’re recovering Apricot, that’s doing plenty.

I’ve finished the back of the cardigan I’m knitting for myself. Hurrah! Just two fronts, two sleeves, and two front borders to do and then sew it up.

LetUsPrey · 23/10/2023 07:31

Morning wenches.

Ah Monday, so we meet again. Not keen if I’m honest.

Is dark and urgh and I didn’t sleep well so urgh to that too.

Have excellent days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 23/10/2023 10:59

Morning all. Lovely sleep in for all this morning (sorry LetUs) though I did wake up a couple of times after 6am. Of course, this did mean that I was flailing about like a loon, because I was booked in for an early morning garage run for Dad, and was in the middle of feeding chickens (still wearing PJs) when my alarm went off to remind me.

Have just oinked a big bowl of porridge for a late breakfast.

Sunny and cloudy outside, the stubble fields were silver with dewy cobwebs first thing.

Erdogan finally signed Sweden's application for NATO membership. About bloody time.

ApricotCrush · 23/10/2023 17:28

Afternoon. A nothing sort of day weather-wise.

Ooo, at that rate your cardigan will be done before my jumper LetUs. I haven’t touched it for a week.

Grin at oinking a big bowl of porridge.

Yay for NATO application WW.

LetUsPrey · 23/10/2023 19:05

Evening wenches.

I’ll be having a bit of a lie in next Monday Helen as I’ve another day’s leave booked Grin

That’s good Wicked.

I doubt that very much Apricot. I wanted to do more of it tonight and/or start a new cardigan for imminent NewFamilyBaby but it’s already gone 7 and I feel like I’ve only been in 10 minutes. Also people talking at me.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 23/10/2023 20:51

Evening.

I've mostly been working and have no idea what else has happened today. Good news re. NATO though.

um.... nope. I've got nothing.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 24/10/2023 07:34

Morning wenches.

Oh Helen, you’ve got plenty <ylt>

Seem to have slept all night. Don’t feel particularly refreshed and have a bit of wobbly anxieties. I’ll just try to ignore it which is obviously the best plan.

I think we have rain but it’s too dark to see just yet.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 24/10/2023 13:57

Warghhhhhhh! Where has the day gone? Had a bit of a lie-in again, and then dived straight into work. Then dived into the soakaway (not really - more of a splash around) which needed to be emptied again (over an inch of rain when I checked late morning, and it's still falling).

And I haven't even started n the project that I wanted to work on today. FFS and all that. Hope everywench is having a good day, and especially that apricot is feeling better.

ApricotCrush · 24/10/2023 16:41

Nice day, sunny this afternoon. I thought I was feeling better yesterday, but I’ve relapsed today. I tried to do some ironing earlier but didn’t get very far. Hmm On the positive side, DH and DS seem to have escaped it. Confused

Virgin Media visited this morning. They’ve got to connect the landline to the internet or something and want to run cables down the outside of the house and round the walls. No way, says DH, leave me a roll of cable and I’ll do it under the floor. Consequently I’ve now got carpets up all over the place, cupboards and drawers emptied and lots of noise. Misty and I are not happy. <cries>

LetUsPrey · 24/10/2023 19:20

Evening wenches.

Rain rain rain.

That sounds like the absolute last thing you need Apricot.

Not a bad day at work but I’ve not even looked at my knitting. To be honest, I feel a bit queasy so I think I’ll have an early night.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 24/10/2023 21:58

FFS MrA - he needs to send you and Misty off to a posh hotel for a few peaceful days of rest if he's going to be ripping the house apart.

Off to the sick bay for you too LetUs - Dr Aramis on in his way to provide a thorough examination<ylt>

Rain seems to have stopped for now, thank goodness. There's lots of drama llamas on the local FB announcing that we're a 'forgotten village' because the corner that always floods has... flooded. Hmm They don't see to appreciate that a drain won't work if the ditch is already full of water. Meanwhile two next door villages have proper floods with roads completely underwater and accessorised with abandoned cars.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 25/10/2023 07:34

Morning wenches.

Good plans all round Helen.

Oh no at nearby villages, those poor people. Pleased you’re relatively unscathed in comparison.

Dark, so very dark. Very blah today. Need to call at the shops on the way to work to get pyjamas and slippers for DS2 as that’s what he’s asked for for his birthday Smile

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 25/10/2023 09:17

Morning. No more rain overnight. But the soakaway is half full again - it's acting as a drain for the garden now Hmm

Today I have a 'day off' so am thinking about finishing off my tax return [horror] and freelancing. and then hopefully a walk this afternoon.

Good luck with the shops LetUs - hope they had everything in stock.

OP posts:
FancyFancy · 25/10/2023 14:24

Afternoon, hope no-one is submerged?

Take your wellies helen!

How are you feeling now apricot?

I hope you found what you wanted for DS2 letus

Good news about joining NATO ww <ponders having a celebratory cinnamon bun>

Cakes at work today, which was very welcome, also flu jabs at work - can't say it's welcome exactly but it is a good thing I suppose. Partially makes up for a shitty commute in this morning <side-eyes random road closures and temporary traffic lights that are fucking everywhere>

<also side-eyes person who royally pissed me off at work yesterday>
<adds name to shit list>
<seethes. still. I hold grudges>

ApricotCrush · 25/10/2023 17:23

Afternoon. No rain here.

Not too bad thanks Fancy. All the Covid symptoms have gone but I’m sooooo tiiiirrred. I went to Sainsbury’s this morning, looking like shit and in a bad mood. Everyone seemed to get in my way and there was a couple with a small child singing Halloween songs all round the store. I wasn’t in the mood for it. I met them in every aisle and then found myself behind them at the till where they messed up their payment and assistance had to be called. Argh. Oh and I saw a bra that I liked but they hadn’t got my size. <mutter, mutter>

Then this afternoon DH’s car broke down in the golf club car park so he had to get a lift home, take my car to retrieve his clubs and leave his car there while he sorts it out.

I know I shouldn’t feel like this with so much going on, but still…

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 25/10/2023 18:26

Had a shit day so I'm going to have a 🍷

LetUsPrey · 25/10/2023 19:29

Evening wenches.

I got DS2 some slippers. However, the menswear section in my local (huge) Sainsburys is woefully tiny so unsurprisingly they didn’t have the pyjamas I wanted for him.

Hope you got a walk Helen and didn’t fall in any Vicar of Dibley style puddles.

FFAS is the entire country (based on wench examples) undergoing roadworks and road closures? And I totally understand holding a grudge against a colleague who’s pissed you off Fancy.

Right, Apricot, I’m going to get stern here. None of us are in our 20s any more. You’ve been poorly with Covid and just because you’ve not got the symptoms any more doesn’t mean you’re over it. The car thing can’t be helped but you should still be taking it easy. And the Halloween song thing in the supermarket followed by till problems would push anyone over the edge. So, get relaxing or you will only prolong your recovery. Mmkay?

And Wicked, I’ll join you in a very large glass of what you’re having. <squidge>

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 25/10/2023 20:39

Evening all.

Tax return is done - hurrah! Winning at adulting Grin The walk happened eventually with multiple diversions for flooding and random road closures. I avoided Vicar of Dibley potholes Grin

Sorry to hear about wench shopping frustrations and shit days at work Sad Hope MrA's car gets sorted quickly (yet another thing that you didn't need Apricot! Just take acre of yourself and take it easy.)

I should do something about a flu jab too... (add it to the list<nto>)

DH is out and I'm watching TV with DS - might head for a book'n'bath soon.
