Morning
Pissing down here, still it's nice to see all the fresh greenery.

AnnoyingSongbird has been sighted on the top of a nearby tall conifer - no wonder the sound travels so far. Am surprised that it seems to be a blackbird - I have never heard one with a song quite no annoying like it before.

Frasan and FancyCat really are alike ww Grin

ApricotCrush · 05/05/2023 16:40

Afternoon. Quite a pleasant day and warmer when I went to Sainsbury’s this morning.

Oh WW, I expect you’re here now. Do have a wonderful time.

I’ve got rather a lot of red yarn, so I’ve started a jumper. No idea what it will be but hoping it will evolve as I go along. I want to watch the Coronation but lots of it will be boring so I’ll knit at the same time then I won’t feel I should be doing something useful. Confused

Have a pleasant evening all.Wine

Evening wenches.

Raaaaaiiinnnnnnn but thankfully not cold. Shit of a day at work but the long weekend is here now so I shall not think of those bastards.

We had the lookout ducks on our roof yesterday, one on next door and then a pigeon a bit further along looking a bit shifty.

I’m going to BigSis’s to watch events tomorrow and have planned to take my knitting. I’m still in awe of you making it up as you go along Apricot. Shock Face of Awe.

For now I’m watching Coronation Tailors which is presented by Patrick Grant off Sewing Bee. Is very interesting.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 05/05/2023 20:54

Evening. We have had thunder, though it was daytime and there was no obvious lightning. Plus about 1cm of rain. <beaucoup le squelch>

Hope you had an uneventful trip Wicked (unless HBFs were involved of course, in which we want events<tae>) and you're here safely - enjoy the cats and cake.

It sounds like your special songbird has been taught to stay well out of reach Fancy. I think I may have a thrush doing the dusk chorus here. Plus the sodding Peacocks which seem to have been re-stocked.

Happy knitting Apricot - lots of red would give you... the Red Guard - don't bother knitting them or the cardinal Grin

Pours Wine and Gin for post-work LetUs I'll have to find the tailors program on catch-up - they were talking about it on the radio and it sounded v. interesting.

LetUsPrey · 06/05/2023 08:19

Morning wenches.

We have rain. I thoroughly recommend that programme Helen. I think I was iPlayer or just general catch up.

Off to BigSis’s to watch coronation which I will enjoy from a sort of history point of view, and obviously the outfits.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 06/05/2023 09:52

Morning all. It's sunny here, but also cloud about and thunder/rain are forecast to be on their way from lunchtime. Hmmph. I need to plant potatoes, but I was also thinking I might sit and watch tv. Highlights are on at 7pm - maybe I'll got gardening and watch highlights. All I'm seeing at the moment is people I don't know arriving, with music pootling away. So I really ought to make use of the sunshine and lack-of-rain.

Hope Wicked is having a good time - are you going to try and see any of the processioning while you're in London?

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 06/05/2023 10:00

Oooh. Household cavalry. Lots of head tossing and a drum horse crabbing sideways Grin lots of shiny bling there. (I'm still watching, obvs.!)

FancyFancy · 06/05/2023 13:44

Afternoon, have had bits of the coronation and parade on in the background. Has been persistently raining all morning and is forecast to do so all afternoon, which is not going to be good for the street party.

Last night DD and I did some Eurovision preparation, Finland and Malta were our favourites so hoping they qualify for the final. Found Croatia utterly bemusing!

ApricotCrush · 06/05/2023 17:00

Afternoon. It’s been raining all day.

Watched the Coronation. I was quite engrossed so didn’t do a lot of knitting. I thought Penny Mordaunt was amazing, standing there for so long with that heavy sword. She looked fabulous. Also loved Kate and Charlotte’s outfits and headpieces. I remember the last one, watched on a 12” black and white telly bought for the occasion.

That’s it really, haven’t done anything else.

I meant to watch the Coronation Tailors but didn’t know when it was on. Will watch on iPlayer.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 06/05/2023 17:56

Evening. I ended up watching most of the Coronation up to the military bods doing their 'three cheers/mexican wave' in the gardens. All quite entertaining, Shame about the fly past - I gather that got cancelled last minute.

Loved all the random 'stuff' that came out in the abbey - the cufflinks of wisdom/goblet of truth, etc Grin Someone on twitter commented 'Here comes the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch', which made me giggle. DH's main comment was, on glancing up from his phone, "Is that a gold sword? That's be useless in a fight." Like were were expecting a sword-fight mid ceremony! Also loved Claire Balding's commentary with the vibe of "here's history of each horse and, oh yes, here are some Royals too", "Look at all these military bods - I hope we see their dog." Grin

Anyway, it's been doing the rainy thing here, so I planted the potatoes anyway, and have Achieved something. (Other than an aching back - bath for me tonight.)

LetUsPrey · 06/05/2023 18:41

Evening wenches.

Had a lovely time at BigSis’s house. Loved Clare Balding’s commentary. I would quite like to make off with the 6th century book they brought out, and have a sit down in the wooden throne. Grin at goblet of truth etc. Holding that sword thing - my arm aches when I’ve been holding my hairdryer over my head for a bit to dry my hair.

Have finished another part of the baby cardigan. Quite a bit to go though.

I shall have to look up those Eurovision acts Fancy.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 07/05/2023 08:45

Morning wenches. Woke up early, went to feed chickens, saw that felt had been blown of the shed roof (we had 1cm+ rain overnight) Ended up pulling up nettles so I could get to the shed and getting the ladder out. Happy Sunday... Grin I should probably have some breakfast.

Hope everyone has a good day.

LetUsPrey · 07/05/2023 08:48

Morning wenches.

Sunshine and blue skies here which I’m not sure I trust will stick around. Usual Sunday here with the added bonus of extra revision for DS2.

Might strip DS2’s bed though and get that washed. The absolute excitement of it all.

FancyFancy · 07/05/2023 17:39

Clearly we are a hardy lot down my road - street party overran by an hour despite all the drizzle. Probably because there was plenty of booze 😆Anyhow, it all went well, I am lucky to have such pleasant neighbours - no awkward nutters!

Have had a fab mini-meet with ww at a cat café, so much cuteness. And that was just us 🤣

ApricotCrush · 07/05/2023 17:54

Afternoon. Beautiful day but I wasn’t able to sit out in it as DS’s children were here.

That’s annoying about the felt Helen.

Yay for mini-meet up with cats. 😻

LetUsPrey · 07/05/2023 19:11

Evening wenches.

Hope the rest of the day has gone without incident, particularly nettles, Helen.

Your party sounds great Fancy. As does cake and cats and excellent company!

Hope you managed to get some time outside Apricot.

I was able to get the lounger out today. Read for a bit too.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 07/05/2023 23:00

Evening all. It's also been an unexpectedly nice day here - we were expecting rain!

I have had a packed day of roof repairs (without falling off it), creosoting, and planting. Then we ended up watching the second half of the coronation concert. Not much lounging has been done - maybe tomorrow. Hmm

Glad you had a good mini-meet wicked and Fancy

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 08/05/2023 07:48

Morning all. It's lovely and sunny here, and that cats are busy having stand-offs.

Snail/slugmageddon on the poor petunia pot outside - it's been severely mauled, so spent the night indoors. I'll need to get some of those bands and see if they work - I'm squeamish about slug pellets and their knock-on effects. also need to order ant nematodes to deal with the red ants in the greenhouse - bity little sods.

Have a good day all.

LetUsPrey · 08/05/2023 09:37

Morning wenches.

Rainy McRain here. I think it’s set in for the day and we have storms forecast for later.

I understood the snail/slug bad situation but not much else. Pleased you’re down off the roof safely Helen.

Today will be ironing, revision reminding, possibly knitting, definitely sulking because work tomorrow.

ApricotCrush · 08/05/2023 16:14

Afternoon. Raining all day here.

That’s a pain about the unwanted visitors Helen. We get the red ants in the lawn, horrible things.

We watched about half of the concert last night, loved the drone displays.

LetUsPrey · 08/05/2023 20:13

Evening wenches.

Raaaaaaaiiiinnnnn. Except for now when the Sun’s come out.

Went garden furniture shopping again with DH after he’d seen sense about the best type of table and chairs to get. Just need the decent weather now. Ironed, knitted, and LovelyMIL came round for tea. I’m now drinking Pimms and ignoring tomorrow.

Hope wenches have had good days and Wicked’s had a lovely trip.

I’ll find the drone displays and watch later.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 08/05/2023 21:34

Evening all. The drone displays were really good last night.

I misread your message LetUs and you are now (apparently) knitting a table and chairs Confused Grin

I have had a repeat of yesterday - up on shed roof and gardening and creosoting. What I haven't done is order anything to deal with slugs and ants. <le sigh>

We only got a light sprinkling of rain, which made outdoorsness much more pleasant.

Tonight I need an early night - I woke up too early this morning and didn't get back to sleep. Woe is me, tiny violin, etc.

Hope everyone's had a good weekend and Wicked's travel home goes well.

LetUsPrey · 09/05/2023 07:36

Morning wenches.

Grin at knitted furniture. That’d be some super chunky yarn. Hope you got an early night Helen.

Sunshine here which I feel I’ve wasted because I’ve not done a wash. We have what the weatherman has just described as rather unsettled weather for the rest of the week.

DS2 not showing much enthusiasm for getting up and dressed.

Have super days wenches.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 09/05/2023 11:20

My food stash 😂

Swagger Inn 174 - It's Spring, supposedly. Let's all dance around the maypole with the HBFs
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 09/05/2023 11:30

Hurrah for the food stash - I hope you and your friends have a lovely time wicked (also peppermint creams are really easy to make!)

Anyway, it's doing the rain thing here. I have been and done exercise, and am now making a very half-hearted effort at work. If anyone spots my motivation lurking anywhere, do send it back. Hmm On the plus side, the shed is fully watertight after this weekend's efforts, so <raspberry> to the rain. Grin
