Evening wenches.

Ooooo at relocated not too far away wool shop Apricot! That’s excellent news.

Hope the headache went eventually and didn’t leave any lingering symptoms Helen.

I’m tired, my face feels all flushed, and I’m in a Bad Mood. Might try to calm myself with straightforward knitting.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 08/08/2023 21:05

Evening all. the weather's been fairly nondescript here. a bit of drizzle, a bit of sun, but mostly cloud. another load of washing dried on the line though.

Is DS1 working locally LetUs or away in a BigCity? hope he's enjoying it. there's a certain novelty to work when you start your First job. long may it last!

The headache did sod off eventually, thank goodness.

hurrah for wool shops. hope that the knitting does its job LetUs If not the HBFs will be happy to oblige. Grin

Shock except my idiot tablet has no faf - the files are corrupt Shock Thank goodness for USB stick.

FancyFancy · 08/08/2023 21:49

Evening

Very dreary day weather-wise and pretty dull all round really. Wish I was on holiday already <counts down the days>

LetUsPrey · 09/08/2023 07:22

Morning wenches l

Hurrah for USB sticks <possibly tae>

Made myself move and change the bedding to a) have lovely fresh bedding and b) take advantage of the rare nice drying days. I also put on a Miss Marple to go along with the knitting and that definitely helped.

DS1 is working in NearbyBigCity, although the public transport is a bit of a pain for him even though we don’t live what could even remotely be termed even a tiny bit rural. He’s young though and quite laid back about these things.

<puts parasol up over Fancy>

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 09/08/2023 07:46

Morning all. LOL at USBs as 'tae' Grin

Lots of High cloud here and I need to look at a forecast because it doesn't really feel warm enough for a floaty skirt. Plus I'm in the office so air con. hmmmm. Also feeling tired although I thought that I slept OK, so my brain wants to wear a nice cosy hbf duvet and go to sleep. First world problems and all that.

ApricotCrush · 09/08/2023 17:39

Afternoon. I spent the morning going round being a bit ruthless with decluttering as it’s bin day. It went warm and sunny this afternoon so I went and sat out for an hour.

That’s it really. Hope everyone’s had a good day.

LetUsPrey · 09/08/2023 19:04

Evening wenches.

Also thought I’d slept well but I’ve gone very tired in the last hour or so.

Two loads of washing done. Must see if the second lot’s dry.

Sitting in the garden for an hour sounds blissful Apricot.

I’d better sort that washing before I nod off.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 09/08/2023 20:11

Drove my car in to big town today in afternoon rush hour to the mechanic, then had to take a couple of buses to get home, it’s not easy when you live out in tjottahejti or as you may call it in the middle of nowhere.
Didn’t feel like cooking so bought some frozen dinners, the were so small so I ate both a tikka masala and chicken satay when I got home, tasted great 😋
Have to collect the car tomorrow, glad when it’s over.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 09/08/2023 22:17

FML I just painstakingly tapped out a looong message and them sodding MN navigated away because it decided I'd clicked on something, and lost the entire message. even FB has the sense to ask before it lets you leave an unposted message. f.m.l
<strops off in sulk>

Have discovered that if I balance the screen at the right (awkward and highly impractical) angle I can use the keyboard though. So (with keyboard) the deleted message was all about boring work, and small portion sizes (with a shout out to the days when ShitePads auto-corrected Porthos or Portions) and decluttering and relaxing in the garden. But much more witty and amusing, obvs.

I'm knackered and should go to bed...

LetUsPrey · 10/08/2023 07:04

Morning wenches.

Such a pain having to get where you need to go after you’ve taken your car to the garage. And we’re not even middle of nowhere, which is obviously why it’s taking DS1 three buses and nearly two hours to go approximately 18 miles to work. Hope all goes smoothly Wicked.

<throws extra HBF over Helen>

Actual sunshine today so the washing machine is whirring away. Half day today as we’re having another attempt at DS2’s immunisations.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 10/08/2023 09:44

Morning. Tiiiiiiired. Is it Friday yet? Nope? Sad

Public transport is just shite in most of this country - we were actually talking about it at work yesterday - someone's DC was getting the Bus to NearbyCity by himself for the first time and I was laughing because while DS could technically get a bus, it would probably take him all day to get there and back, without actually having any time left to get off and spending time in said City.

If my car goes into the garage I have to either get a lift or a complimentary car - the nice local one which I prefer using if I can is at least walkable in an emergency (an hour's walk, but walkable.)

Good luck with the jabs LetUs.

FancyFancy · 10/08/2023 13:34

<joins in with general transport moans> I'm not exactly in the middle of nowhere but with all the strikes, utility companies closing off roads to dig them up and VastlyExpensiveInfrastructureProjectOfDubiousMerit the traffic is worse than normal despite it being the school holidays <sigh>

Is it Friday yet?

ApricotCrush · 10/08/2023 16:28

Afternoon. Beautiful day, much washing on the line but as the wall man is here I haven’t been able to sit out as much as I would have liked. It’s a pain having to get properly dressed and look respectable every time I go out the front to give him a cuppa. Hmm

Commiserations on all the transport problems. I don’t go far so I’m not really affected although there always seem to be roadworks and temporary traffic lights.

Dentist and hygienist went well. Hope I don’t have to go back with any problems any time soon.

Hope the jabs were successful LetUs.

LetUsPrey · 10/08/2023 17:12

Evening wenches.

Hurrah for successful dentist and hygienist Apricot! I’m sure you’d look more than presentable in anything Smile

NiceColleague has been plagued with roadworks and road closures on her route to and from work for months. Then, as you say, the school holidays arrive and they really ramp them up. It’s understandable I suppose but still annoying.

DS2 has had one jab which is such huge progress. I cannot explain how much. He’s really proud of himself, as am I. The nurses were absolutely brilliant and spent loads of time with him. One more to go but that might have to wait until October half term.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 10/08/2023 17:49

Star for DS2.

I have my car back now, so happy Smile And also behind with work Hmm That's why I originally booked service and this repair during my vacation but they only did the service then because the parts they needed hadn't arrived, which they only told me about when I arrived at 7 o'clock in the morning with my car, during my vacation. So unnecessary. So it's been two trips to the mechanics, oh joy.

Three buses and two hours?! Letus Confused

Apes Grin I always put on a bra if i expect company, don't want to traumatize anyone Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 10/08/2023 22:26

Excellent news re. DS2's jab LetUs. Hopefully the next jab will go well too.

Glad that your car is back Wicked - hopefully you can catch up with work quickly.

I've had a nice evening out catching up with friends and now I ought to flake out so I'm not so tired tomorrow.

LetUsPrey · 11/08/2023 08:17

Morning wenches.

I think I slept all the way through last night which would be the first time in about 15 years. Can’t say I’m raring to go exactly but it is Friday so that’s nice.

Sounds a right palaver re your car Wicked but all done now and you’ll be caught up on work in no time I bet.

Evening out sounds fun Helen. Hope you got some rest.

Right, off to work. Would much rather stay home with the football and knitting but the lottery win still eludes me.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 11/08/2023 09:51

Morning all.

Hurrah for sleeping through LetUs, you must have been properly knackered - or coasting a long on a sea of happy relaxedness after DS2's jab.

I'm.... meh. If anyone spots my motivation anywhere, please could you send it back to me? It's all too much effort today. Wonder if I've got enough flex to finish early. Though I actually need to finish early next week, so probably not. <le sigh, etc>

ApricotCrush · 11/08/2023 16:39

Afternoon. Not such a nice day as yesterday, but warm with sunny intervals.

Very well done to DS2 LetUs, and great that you slept through. I can't remember doing that. Hmm

That's ridiculous WW. There are some weird people around.

We're going to watch the Elvis film at DD's later. It's on Sky which we don't have.

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 11/08/2023 17:35

Turtle 😂Idiotic people.

it's warm and even hot here when the sun is out. My laptop is back - it left with Windows 11 and has come back with Windows 10 Hmm and MS office has been wiped. <le enooormous sigh> I need to start fixing it, but actually I cba.

The manshapes are off out to SportingActivity shortly, so I shall wander off and see Dad, play piano (badly), and fail to catch up on watching the recorded TV that's backed up on the sky box. And get myself some tea.

LetUsPrey · 11/08/2023 20:48

Evening wenches.

Why am I not refreshed with boundless energy after a full night’s sleep? I suspect my motivation and yours and hiding somewhere together Helen. That’s a pain about the laptop.

I’ve so much to watch on the box but I’m rewatching Miss Marple and admiring the knitwear.

Saw that thread earlier. Absolutely crackers Grin

Thank you for the congrats for DS2.

Enjoy the Elvis film Apricot.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 11/08/2023 22:00

I have prodded my laptop and it sulked. I cba with this shit (still) and will let DH beat it into some sort of usable shape. FMLaptop.

<sits in tav with LetUs having no motivation. Or HBFs, because they are bloody inconsiderate imaginary emotional props>
<sulks>
<channels Kevin. "It's so unfaaaaaiir!">

LetUsPrey · 12/08/2023 08:37

Morning wenches.

We are as one Helen. Except for the laptop thing, although I think DS2 will need a new one but I’ll worry about that another time.

Was thinking I’d make flapjacks today but I really can’t be arsed. I suspect laundry and dishes will be my limit today. We have rain and storms forecast all day though so washing will be a bit of a slow process.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 12/08/2023 08:55

Morning all. We do at least have sunshine. I don't think that there's rain forecast today. Was thinking of catching up with friends, but they're busy. will have to sit around doing nothing do domestic things instead.

Next door have arrived for a few weeks, so that's the end of being able to go outside without their dog barking its head off at us while they tell it to be quiet in an entirely ineffectual way

I think that flapjacks are an excellent idea Grin.
<sits with wide open mouth like a hopeful baby bird>
