Anna, April or Beatrix ((boak at names of dresses))

I really like April, but my mum thinks it's too grown up and looks like a ballgown. I think that's why I like it.

Any thoughts?

TIA

I wondered how you could wear the same dress too.

nooka - you won't believe it but I chose Zita too !! ( is my mum's own name) !!
violetsky - I love Finbar too - wasn't mocking his choice, though he was a bit embarrassed about it !
I wore the same dress for both because the confirmation was a year or so later for us - I was definitely still at primary school

That's interesting - I've always thought that confirmation was somehow a much more adult thing (and of course at 14/15 I was so very much an adult )

Hi,

Try www.melanie-elizabeth.com

I'm a Catholic mother of three girls living in Birmingham. I sell communion dresses for half the price of bridalwear shops and some of the websites. A percentage of my profits go to CAFOD. I have both full length dresses and more simple short ones. My prices are £75-£90. So hopefully something for all tastes. I'll do free postage for any mumsnet member who buys from me. Oh and this is my first year of business so any feedback is welcome. x

hi.i am the mom of three, two boys and a girl.my daughter is 12 and my sons are 11 and 9.all three of them made their first holy communions last may.we followed parrish tradition and the boys wore the suit and tie and my daugter wore the full outfit, dress, veil, gloves, shoes, tights, cloth diaper, rubberpants and undershirt.our parrish considers the communion dress as an extension of the baptism gown so the girls wear the traditional diaper, rubberpants, tights and undershirt under their dresses.i made her diaper from baby diapers sewn together.i got her plastic pants off the internet and put everything on her the morning of first communion.her dress was poofy and to the top of the knees.she looked very nice and dainty in her outfit.i knew the diaper and rubberpants made her feel more pure and she didnt mind wearing them.

My dd was Christened naked. I was wearing a nightie and the guests were in scrubs and crocs.
I couldn't give a monkeys what people wear. The outfits are only for human benefit anyway.

Hi

Try www.myfirstholycommunion.co.uk

They sell beautiful dresses at great prices all from the USA. The lady who owns this is sooo helpful and she even does appointments at home where you can try on all the dresses and take Grandma with you - we did and the dresses are just fabulous!!!
