Thread 173 Shock. Break out the duvets and huddle round the scorching hot brazier HBF-of-choice.

Yet more domestic drivel and shameless perving.

Afternoon. We have had snow, lots of it. Some of it has thawed, but it looks very wintry out there.

Don't seem to have done much today but it doesn't matter.

New series of Strike tonight, yay! Smile

LetUsPrey · 11/12/2022 19:18

Evening wenches.

Nothing too exciting here. Flipping cold. Side roads are a slippery nightmare.

FancyDD obviously wants to come to see you and your central heating is just an added bonus. DS1 would be exactly the same Grin

Will be watching Strike on catch up. Strickly on tonight which is a bit rubbish.

FancyFancy · 11/12/2022 21:09

Hmm, it seems snow may be on it's way here too & DD's flight is delayed, not a nice day for travelling.

LetUsPrey · 11/12/2022 21:22

Hope she’s back soon and safe Fancy

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 11/12/2022 22:23

Fingers crossed that FancyDD gets home safely and isn't too delayed Sad Also fingers crossed for no snow disruptions for apricot.

We have watched Strike: "Who that?" "Who's that?" "Do we know them?" "Have I read the book?" "Is this the one with the leg?" F.M.L. wenches. It's not filmed to make viewing dependent on having read the book, why can't DH just watch and figure it out? <seethes with irritation>

<breathes>

In other news, we had a nice meet-up with family and swapped Christmas presents. So that was fun.

Morning wenches.

Dark, frosty, etc.

<cbf> at MrHelen.

We enjoyed Strike last night. Thought everyone was excellent.

Hope FancyDD’s back.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 12/12/2022 07:55

Morning. I'm not entirely sure what the weather's doing outside, except I am now, because I looked outside at the right time. Lots of frost again, and the drips on the washing line aren't moving - let alone falling off when the birds land on it, so they're frozen as well. Brrr. I should wrap up and go to feed the chickens.

Finger crossed that Fancy DD managed to get home - the news is full of 'stuck in traffic/cancelled flight' reports Sad

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 12/12/2022 16:55

Afternoon. Nothing much happening outside, a bit of thawing but still very white.

DGS's school was closed for the day because of snow, although there isn't that much. Hmm DD managed to blag a day wfh which pleased her. I remember when I was young we used to trudge a mile through a foot of snow to get to school where the outside toilets would be frozen solid. Shock These were the days when you'd open your bedroom curtains in the morning to find the windows were iced up on the inside. No central heating, just a coal fire in the lounge. The winters were much worse then too.

Hope FancyDD managed to get home.

Yes, enjoyed Strike. We had two holidays in St. Mawes pre-DC, so kept pausing it to reminisce.

FancyFancy · 12/12/2022 17:44

"Is this the one with the leg?" <snooooooooort> Grin

DD has just landed, at last. They were put up in a hotel last night, so things could have been much worse. She now just has to get home on the train, which will be a couple more hours at least.

FancyMan has been here for a bit, but we were rather lazy & didn't do much other than a walk into town. Most of the roads are ok, except for the quiet ones, like mine - saw someone totally lose control turning into it this morning. Am hoping that more traffic will clear some of the compacted snow by the time I have to drive tomorrow morning as sadly I'm at a client's tomorrow - I'd work at home otherwise.

LetUsPrey · 12/12/2022 21:35

Evening wenches.

Blimey it was cold in parts at work today.

Phew at FancyDD being back.

I remember the coal fire at my grandma’s house Apricot. We’ve been lucky here really as far as the snow’s concerned.

Bit tired tonight and I could do with an early night.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 12/12/2022 21:46

Evening all. We haven't had any snow here - just cold. <wraps self in Athos>

Tell Aramis to stare at your road Fancy - that should melt your underwear the compacted snow.

We played 'Spot St. Mawes Ferry' too Apricot - we went there back in the mists of time when DS was still small enough to be excited about going on a little ferry Grin

Hope that FancyDD is safely home - at least she was in a hotel and not abandoned at the airport.

Posted some cards today, but still haven't finished writing.

OP posts:
FancyFancy · 12/12/2022 22:55

DD safely home & we had a series 1 episode 2 rewatch just to make sure she was properly warmed up after the long journey. Aramis was being marvelously flirty and Milady was being awesome.

LetUsPrey · 13/12/2022 07:40

Morning wenches.

What a good way to cut back on heating bills and also to check on the well-being of FancyDD.

Dark, cold, etc. Hamster sitting duties have concluded. I shall miss our little chats, although I suspect he’ll be back for the Christmas holidays.

<throws an extra HBF log on Helen the fire>

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 13/12/2022 08:32

Morning all. The sunrise has been all sorts of pastel shades this morning, and is currently settled at silvery, which ties in nicely with a decent attempt at a hoar frost (given that we didn't have any mist to freeze). I have fed the chickens and de-iced their water - ditto for the birds, who are busy emptying the bird table again. Cute/idiot kitten has had a cuddle and is now flaked out on a chair, and I've laid a fire for later.

Today is... work. Again. No surprises there. Hopefully I'll be having intelligent cat asleep on my to keep my warm.

Glad that FancyDD is home safely and has been warmed up wench style Grin Hope that the Hamster has appreciated his mini-break too.

Fingers crossed that everywench has a good day and doesn't go sliding on ice.

ApricotCrush · 13/12/2022 17:27

Afternoon/Evening. Still freezing here.

I went to do a food shop at Sainsbury's while DH was collecting DGS. There was so much that was out of stock and I couldn't find half the other stuff due to them moving things around. Angry

We've got to watch ep 2 of Strike again as DH slept through most of it. Perhaps a good thing as I can't remember who's who. Hmm

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 13/12/2022 19:16

I’m so done with winter, yesterday and today we had an ice cold wind 🥶It’s better tankfully but it will be really cold until next week. I’m really looking forward to the elektricity bill 🙄

LetUsPrey · 13/12/2022 20:47

Evening wenches.

Ice situation in town centre near work is thankfully much improved. Wasn’t fun though getting back to car park just after 5pm and having to scrape ice off windscreen. NiceColleague was saying similar about her local big supermarket Apricot. Many gaps on the shelves, although can’t comment on the moving stuff about.

Awwww at CuteKitten

LittleSis has one of those heated blankets that you wear Wicked for when she’s working from home. Swears by it.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 13/12/2022 22:56

Evening all. I am baking biscuits for daft work xmas bake off scoff-fest. I'm running a bit late Hmm

We haven't watched Ep2 yet Apricot - I think we're going 'old school' and watching weekly. Grin

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 14/12/2022 07:42

Morning wenches.

<pinches a biscuit>

They’re doing Strike <nlt> Sunday, Monday, Sunday, Monday, as well as putting it all on iPlayer. His Dark Materials starts on Sunday too so we’re looking forward to that. At least the flipping football will be done, until the league starts up again.

Not keen on going out today, including some shopping after work. Urgh.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/12/2022 08:01

Morning wenches. I'm clueless about tv scheduling Grin It's being recorded on series link so it should be on the box somewhere. We're also looking forward to Dark Materials - without a clue as to how the last series ended. I hope the 'previously on...' intro is up to scratch!

Have a good day all.

Colourless sunrise this morning. Still frost and ice everywhere. It's just occurred to me that we never covered the outside tap Confused oh dear...

OP posts:
FancyFancy · 14/12/2022 11:18

Morning
We have sunshine here, which should heat the back of the house (am WFH today), which is good as it is apparently -2 outside. We had a hoar frost at the weekend helen - it's probably still there under the snow Grin

There was more Musketeers last night - the Bonnaire episode, very cheering. But DD is working this evening, so no rewatch - boo.

ApricotCrush · 14/12/2022 16:32

Afternoon. Lovely sunny day but nothing has melted so it must still be freezing. I haven't ventured out.

Love the Bonnaire episode.

We watched Strike ep 2 again last night. It's clearer now. I read the book when it came out, but can't remember who did it. Hmm Are you able to watch it there WW?

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/12/2022 19:28

Fancy - perhaps you should watch the next episode to check it's suitable for watching with DD? Grin

It's been cold but dry here, until I was heading him where we had sleet/snow flurries. There has also been sunshine, which meant the blinds had to be closed so that we could all see our computer screens.

le sigh, etc.

Evening wenches.

Is cold. I don’t like being cold. I also don’t like being hot. I was going to say there’s no pleasing me, but …. Grin

Ooo if I can get DS2 to start watching TM, I reckon he’d really like the Bonnaire episode!

LetUsPrey · 15/12/2022 07:54

Morning wenches.

DH has just phoned to tell me it’s -7. Nope. No thank you.

Just stay in the Tav wenches.
