Thread 173 Shock. Break out the duvets and huddle round the scorching hot brazier HBF-of-choice.

Yet more domestic drivel and shameless perving.

Morning. Everything is very crunchy underfoot, with a csattering of snow from yesterday evening. Though I don't know that we hit -7 here. The sun is up and sending golden shafts of light across the garden. Who know, it might melt the icicles on the washing line. Confused Oh, and 6 swans a swimming flew over this morning when I went out with the chicken food. I only noticed because they were honking gently. Must ask the rspb what sort they were - not mutes anyway.

Anyway, I have done a repeat of yesterday morning, except I couldn't top up the peanut feeder - the lid is frozen on. I also added 'make space for the chimney sweep, and rearranged the furniture.

100% agree with LetUs - stay in the Tav, it's cold out there (and I'm soooooooooooooo tired).
<wraps everywench in HBFs>

I'll see your -7 Letus and raise you -18 Confused Didn't realise I live at the North Pole Hmm

ApricotCrush · 15/12/2022 16:04

Afternoon wenches. Oh no WW, that's terrible. Shock It's been sunny all day here but still nothing has melted. We've had the heating on all day but we're still cold. Just turned it up some more. Dread the bills.

Nothing to add really. Must sort my car insurance, it's up next week. Hmm

BloominElk · 15/12/2022 18:06

Evening all.
Wrote a massive post the other day and immediately lost it all. That'll teach me for using this bloody awful app! I'm now stood in about minus 10 in the garden waiting for LabradoodElk to ease her tea out the other end.

All the mini Elks have gone down with various lurgies, so I only started catching up with Strike FAF yesterday, and can I just say holyf#×=##%__&(?£×sidewaysyespleaseandthankyou

<dies>

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 15/12/2022 18:40

It will probably turn up on some streaming channel Apes 😀

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 15/12/2022 18:42

My new duvet is so warm and fluffy, it’s really difficult to get up in the morning 😀

LetUsPrey · 15/12/2022 19:48

Evening wenches.

-18?! No wonder you don’t want to emerge from your new duvet Wicked!

Work can do one, or rather certain colleagues who wfh but who aren’t available to contact because there’s a school thing on that afternoon and they don’t make the time up, but it’s okay because some other poor fucker (not me in this instance for a change) will pick up the slack. It’s always the same ones and nothing ever gets said or done. See also office based colleagues who constantly wang on about insanely busy they are - not too busy to stand about and chat for half an hour though. And breathe.

So, did you enjoy Strike Elk? Grin Hope the MiniElks are feeling better.

Urgh at car insurance Apricot. Here’s hoping for a simple process.

Grin at festive swans Helen

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 15/12/2022 22:34

Evening wenches. I have been out to meet a friend and also out to pick up DH from a night out. I'm shattered, but I've got to sew a button back onto DS' blazer before I can collapse into bed. Woe...

It's a tropical 4 degrees out there, but the ground is still freezing.

FFS at twatbadger colleagues and lurgies and losing posts. hurrah for snuggly duvets. Speaking of which... <faceplants in hayloft>

Morning wenches.

Cold but Friday! DS2 finishes today at lunchtime so he is unsurprisingly up and ready without being nagged.

Urgh that feeling of tired but one little job that needs doing.

<throws another log on the Tav fire>

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 16/12/2022 07:47

Morning all.

<insert everything that LetUs just said...> Though actually I had to crowbar DS out of bed this morning.

It's cold and grey outside, there was some orangeness on the horizon earlier, but everything's just shade of grey now <nlt> and I can see birds out buzzing the table for their morning food. I need to go and feed things, but, urgh... totally cba with anything other than more sleep.

Am out for xmas work lunch later today so I'll use that opportunity to do some xmas shopping/return online shopping to actual shops. Also need to buy chicken food <note to self>.

Have a good day all.

Afternoon
4 degrees yesterdayhelen? I am jealous! It hasn't been above freezing for days here, although it may sneak over 0 this afternoon apparantly. A warming evening of Musketeers, pink wine, comfort food and a home pedicure is planned.

How about we send all irritating colleagues to ww, well not literally as that would be irritaing for her, but near her?

ApricotCrush · 16/12/2022 17:37

Afternoon. Still freezing here. However, on a positive note, the sun set a minute later today than yesterday, so we're on the right side. Smile The mornings however, won't budge until 5th January. Sad

I think I'll stay with the current car insurance company. The comparison sites only save a fiver and I cba with all the hassle of changing.

Hope the MiniElks are feeling better.

Have a lovely evening everywench. Wine

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 16/12/2022 18:41

Evening all.

I have been out and I have done some shopping (Happy Christmas to me!) and now I'm home (with a headache) and knackered.

This morning's sunrise actually got quite nice once the sun was above the horizon - all peachy pink. Then some geese a laying flew overhead with their white chests all lit up pinkish too. Very scenic.

I think paying £5 more to save hassle is money well spent Apricot. Enjoy your evening Fancy - it sounds v. civilised. (DS wants to watch High Plains Drifter which is probably my least favourite Clint Eastwood film, to the point of actively disliking it. I shall have a bath.)

LetUsPrey · 16/12/2022 19:54

Evening wenches.

Hurrah for Apricot daylight hours update!

Bored of cold but apparently on Monday we’re getting up to 13°!

Oooo snap with the pedicure Fancy! Sitting with my feet in a scented foot soak as I type. I have Pimms instead of pink, but no Musketeers.

Agree on the saving time aspect Apricot.

Well done on the shopping Helen. I have a gift card to get tomorrow and have to manage to not stop at the yarn place, then food gifts next week and I’m done.

Skål Wicked!

LetUsPrey · 17/12/2022 11:53

Morning wenches.

Bit dreary today and treacherously slippy pavements on our street. Hopefully the increase in temperature will sort that out.

Have done a bit of shopping. Out this afternoon for a party but should be back early evening. I should wrap some presents but I probably won’t.

ApricotCrush · 17/12/2022 16:50

Afternoon. There's been some drippage today so it must have been above freezing at some point.

I've been sorting out the freezer which appears to be rammed and I don't know why. It seems I've been over-buying bags of vegetables and there's loads of barbecue stuff that we didn't use in the summer. Hmm

We finished Strike last night so I don't know what we'll watch tonight. Hope everyone's had a good day.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 17/12/2022 17:28

Evening all. I thought I'd posted today but obviously not.

I have been wrapping presents and posting the last cards. I have two parcels to go still and can't decide if it's worth trying to send them for Xmas, or just keep them here until the backlogs and strikes are over in the new year. Hmm

It's massively icy here as well, though thawing in the sun. When I was out yesterday I did several windmill impressions while traipsing over ice. Confused

Did you remember whodunnit in Strike Apricot, or was it all a surprise for you? We've only watched the first two so far.

Been to the supermarket and bought food for Christmas, don’t think I’ll get to the supermarket again before Christmas, I’m also working that day.
Also went to Systembolaget to stock up on wine.
Put up some birdfeeders in a tree for the wildlife.
Cancelled some streamingchannels and started a free trial on Amazon Prime Video, might get HBO Max as well.
On the couch now sipping wine. Hope all wenches has a good evening 🍷

FancyFancy · 17/12/2022 19:16

You have been busy ww!

DD & I have stocked up on some food & booze for Christams & otherwise have had a lazy day, ought to get a few chores done before relaxing for the evening and should probably dig out teh Christmas decorations ready to put up.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 18/12/2022 09:02

Morning. This morning's sunrise was rather scenic, though I think I only caught the tail end of it.

I have no plans today. Bliss. (I probably have plans, I've just forgotten them and will then curse at 5pm when I remember what they were. Or something.)

Wicked - did you just say you're working on Xmas day? Shock

LetUsPrey · 18/12/2022 09:09

Morning wenches.

Busy wenches yesterday!

I was out until quite late and was a bit “tired” when I got home.

I’ve already done the dishes and sorted loads of washing. Tons more to do so I really should get on.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 18/12/2022 12:44

I’m working Christmas Eve (when we celebrate) and Christmas Day Helen, good pay and I don’t work full days, and I don’t celebrate Christmas that much. I’ve bought cheese doodles, chocolate mud cake and plan to watch a lot of television 😀 I also bought a boiled turkey (not a whole one) not sure what to do with it yet 🤔
on Boxing day I’m visiting mum and we’ll probably go looking for 50% off Christmas decorations 👍

ApricotCrush · 18/12/2022 17:29

Evening. It's raining and the temperature is rising through the night, so I hope all the white will be gone tomorrow.

Yes Helen, I did remember whodunnit but I couldn't remember why, so all was revealed.

I don't blame you working over Christmas if it's good pay WW.

DS and the two DGC have been round this afternoon and we're going to the pub with DD & Co later.

FancyFancy · 18/12/2022 18:09

Mmmmm chocolate mud cake - lucky you ww it's gorgeous stuff <drools>

Also raining here & supposed to warm up, which will be welcome as it was sodding cold in the house this afternoon before the heating came on.

Decorations are now all up, only an artificial tree this year & I haven't put lights in windows as all curtains are staying firmly closed as soon as it gets dark. I do have some cute new snowy owl decorations and some robins wearing glasses Grin Had a Sad moment when putting out the decorative Christmas stockings, still covered in ScaredyCat hair as she always liked to sleep on them.
