Thread 173 Shock. Break out the duvets and huddle round the scorching hot brazier HBF-of-choice.

Yet more domestic drivel and shameless perving.

Morning wenches.

Release the chickens! 🐓 🐓

Usual Sunday here with added anxiety from DS2 as it’s back to school tomorrow and GCSEs start in a month even though he won’t acknowledge he’s anxious about anything.

I shall mostly hide away with the ironing and knitting and possibly some series 5 Downton Abbey.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 16/04/2023 11:07

Morning. I have been up and early morning baking for a family birthday.

Weather is lovely outside - blue skies and sunshine again, so more gardening will be happening.

Evening. Quite a nice day but I haven't done much. DD came round for a chat this afternoon.

Two mallards landed in the garden this morning. They're obviously looking for some water but we haven't had a pool for years. And are these the same mallards who used to visit and do they still remember it? I don't know how long they live. Interesting.

Yay for released chickens.

Oh poor DS2 LetUs. DGD is in the same position. It is a stressful time for them.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 16/04/2023 18:00

Evening. There has been lots of gardening today - mostly digging, and you can see it's been done, but it feel like lots of jobs have been started and nothing finished. (Because that's what's happened.) Ho hum. I came in to cook, but DH has taken over - hurrah.

Fingers crossed that back to school goes well. We've had an edict from school that they're cracking down on mobile phone use, which I think will make DS grumpy, because I think he listens to music on it at lunchtimes.

Evening wenches.

Been a drizzly sort of day on and off. Got a bit of knitting done as well as usual Sunday shenanigans.

Many hugs to DGD Apricot. That’s interesting about the mallards.

They’re quite strict on phones at school here too Helen. They can take them to school but they must stay switched off all day.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 17/04/2023 07:22

Urgh. Back to getting DS up and ready for school. Blurgle.

On plus side, it's not raining. Hope everyone has a good day.

Morning wenches.

I shall just ditto what you said Helen.

Very very weird dream and now I feel all ick. Really not fond of Mondays right now.

Have restful happy days wenches.

ApricotCrush · 17/04/2023 16:45

Afternoon. Cloudy and grey here, but the washing dried.

I have some very disturbing dreams LetUs. I think it’s from my medication. I can’t remember a lot of them which is just as well, but wake up feeling a bit weird. Hmm

Hope everyone’s had as good a day as possible for a Monday.

LetUsPrey · 17/04/2023 19:34

Evening wenches.

As Mondays go it wasn’t too bad.

There were lampreys in my dream, in a little separate bath area of a shower I was about to get in. I’m not even sure how I know what a lamprey is but I googled them and that’s what they looked like.

DS1 is back from a break he’s been on with his girlfriend’s family so it’s nice to have them both back even if it is just tonight. And DS2’s very happy too.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 17/04/2023 22:02

Evening all. I put washing on and it got not-quite dry on the line - the day ended up rather dank and clammy - certainly not yesterday's sunshine.

Hmm at bathroom lampreys. I had one of those weird ones this morning where you keep waking up and then falling back into the same dream, and waking up properly is like wading through treacle.

Tonight I am not staying up late. Though I haven't done wordle yet.

LetUsPrey · 18/04/2023 07:29

Morning wenches.

Hope Wordling went well Helen.

Didnt’t sleep great. DS1’s going back today. His final exams start in just a couple of weeks. He seems to be working hard but I still have everything crossed.

Must we today? Really? I’m not sure that we do, <locks Tav doors>

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 18/04/2023 08:23

Morning all.

Wordle went fine last night, but bed time was delayed by CuteKitten wanting cuddles. This morning I am mostly tired. Random dreams involving a school trip turning up next door (because apparently their house is now a study centre), something vaguely dystopian which involved hiding from people and presenting false identity papers, the bottom falling out of my bucket of water, and comparing maps of really weird things like the popularity of pork products and... I forget the other stuff. No wonder I'm knackered - my brain has been on overdrive all night Confused

Boo to DS1 heading off again LetUs (though hurrah for him coming for a visit). CuteKitten has booster jab today so I'll be wrestling him into a cat carrier. Or just pouring him in, since he's currently blotto on a chair.

Have a good day all.

ApricotCrush · 18/04/2023 16:18

Afternoon. Lovely day. The washing dried and I sat outside for an hour. The sun was quite hot but the wind was cold and DH was jet-washing the terrace which didn't help.

Grin and Hmm at weird dreams. <googles lampreys> Shock

Hope CuteKitten's vet visit went well.

LetUsPrey · 18/04/2023 19:36

Morning wenches.

That dream’s a special level of crackers Helen. Hope CuteKitten was co-operative re the visit to the vet.

I now have a vision of you trying to relax in the garden Apricot with jet wash spray getting blown over you.

Trying to help DS2 with homework. It’s not going well.

FancyFancy · 18/04/2023 21:38

Evening
Back at work - it is slightly less busy which was good. And welcome, as yesterday was full of doing grown-up stuff on my day off - FancyMan was very good natured & helped me out on some of them.

Pork products helen?! Odd, but then when I hear 'pork products' I think of Liz Truss, so if she didn't make an appearance in your dream then you have something to be thankful for Grin

Aw at mallards apricot, that's one thing I've not had in my garden. I did see a bat flying around a few evenings ago, very cute.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 18/04/2023 22:16

<snoooort> at Liz Truss in my dream - that would make it a nightmare Shock
Vet trip was fine - CuteKitty was slightly traumatised and very vocal about not wanting to go on a car trip, and the vet was running late, but he got jabbed and that's all done now.

Currently having a parenting fail due to a school trip that DS doesn't want to go on and we seem to have inadvertently agreed with him that there's no point going to school that day since there won't be any unmissable education happening. DS is adamant that he's not going. FML.

Let's talk about ducks instead. We have lots of them hanging about too. Though not so much in the garden as in the local ponds and ditches and rivers. also, jet washers - not v. relaxing. <cbf> at MrA for bad timing.

LetUsPrey · 19/04/2023 07:12

Morning wenches.

Hope the school/not school issue is resolved Helen.

I remember the Liz Truss pork products thing Grin

Yes, ducks, much nicer topic. We get ducks here. They either casually saunter up the middle of the road or one pierces on the roof of a house across the road in the style of look-out duck.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 19/04/2023 07:42

Am loving the idea of 'Look-out duck' - its little head constantly swivelling round, and then the call:
"Child with bag of bread!! 2nd bench by the pond. Go!!!"
OR <bored checkout staff voice> "Swans incoming; Swans incoming at 2 o'clock, please clear the area to prevent injury. Swans incoming."

Anyway, this morning seems mostly sunny. School situation ongoing - they were meant to email me with details of their plans for non-school tripping pupils, but haven't. <le sigh> If I can't get him to go in I have a back-up plan of a very boring work experience day for him. That'll learn him.

In better news, last night's dream (that I remember) was less bonkers. Somethign about staying in a hotel that was also a bookshop (bliss!), bumping into TB in a shopping centre as a very brief incidental part of it all, and meeting Elk off a train in a v. large multi-level train station.

ApricotCrush · 19/04/2023 17:08

Afternoon. Cloudy all day. Jet washing is still going on but not bothering me today.

I got my car admired in the Lidl car park which is a regular occurrence. I couldn’t get rid of him and he ran his hand over the boot saying ‘I love to touch them’ which wasn’t creepy at all. Oh, no. Confused I was hoping he’d gone when I came out and he had, thank goodness.

I went to the vet today but not with Misty, to collect some flea treatment I’d ordered. It was £41. Shock Wtf is in it??? In other Misty news, she’s been with us a year today. It’s gone so quickly.

Grin at look-out ducks.

That sounds a lovely dream Helen.

LetUsPrey · 19/04/2023 20:16

Evening wenches.

Car been to garage which involved a long walk to bus station, bus to work, bus back to home town, wander round town (that didn’t take long), walk back to garage and then loiter about waiting for car. So all in all, a bit of a long day.

Love the messages from the look-out duck. “Alert! They’re filling the paddling pool at number 45!”

Hope you got MiniHelen sorted.

No no Apricot, that’s not acceptable - no car fondling thank you. Also, £41?!

Tonight I plan to have a bath and go to bed.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 19/04/2023 22:23

Evening all. Weather was a bit patchy today - sunny but not overly warm.

Ick at the car 'enthusiast' Apricot and I feel your pain re. flea treatment - it's bloody expensive Sad But better than a flea infestation. Speaking of which, I think our cats are overdue for a dose.

Hope LetUs car enjoyed it's spa day wasn't too expensive

I have to go to bed and sleep... if I start heading that was now, I may be there for 11pm <le eye roll>

Morning wenches.

Beautiful sunny day so I’m a bit cross with myself that I didn’t get a wash out. Muppet.

<ensures HBF vets are available to treat TavCats>

Need to “encourage” DS2 to get up and get ready.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 20/04/2023 08:34

Morning, sunny, running late...
<runs out the door>

OP posts:
FancyFancy · 20/04/2023 14:15

<looks smugly at washing on line> it's only as I'm working at home today, would never have been organised enough to do it before work

I now want look-out-ducks Grin

Ew at the creepy car-fondler apricot <boaks>

Yay for the Misty-versary Wine less so for the price of vet meds. Between the flea treatment & the monthly jabs for arthritis & blood pressure meds (at least I can get those online with a prescription) FancyCat is costing me lots! We found out our annual pay rise yesterday - almost 75% of mine is going on her new meds!

ApricotCrush · 20/04/2023 17:14

Afternoon. Gorgeous day, washing dry, ironed and put away. Halo I sat outside for a while but the wind was a bit chilly.

Eeeek Fancy, pets are expensive but we love them and they’re worth it.
