Evening wenches.

Have done jigsawing at the start and end of the day, and lots of other bits and pieces. In hindsight, doing the ironing was probably not the wisest idea.

You saucy devil Apricot!

It can’t have been three weeks Wicked! You’ve miscounted and should take another week off.

Ouch Helen <passes antihistamines>

Is not intending to buy plants from a plant sale a bit like when I go into the nearby village and definitely don’t intend to go into the bookshop but whoops? Grin

LetUsPrey · 18/07/2022 07:33

Morning wenches.

It’s tooooo hottttttttt. Cross (almost) everything for me to get one of shaded car parking spaces wenches.

<switches on all airblades>
<restocks lollies and ice pops>

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 18/07/2022 07:52

I'm the worst parent ever because I've sent DS to school even though we've been told we can keep them at home if we feel uncomfortable re. weather conditions. He told me last night that he was unbothered by the heat and fine to go in. Then he found out this morning about us being allowed to keep him home. He is unimpressed with me (understatement). Because school don't have x-box air con. And obviously, we do? (No, we don't). <le sigh> Also, most of his friends aren't going in <le sigh, again> So I can keep him off school, or I send him in, and feel like I'm being a rubbish parent either way.

In other news, KillerKitty has has a rabbit overnight. He fortunately ate most of it outside, so I've cleared up the carnage on the patio. Then he came in to finish off the legs he'd brought in to save for later. Confused

My ankle is red and hot and puffy, despite slathering on antihistamine cream (Woe is me, etc)

<Crosses everything most things for a shady parking space>

<erk> at moving in 30 degrees Wicked that must have been grim - not a wonder you don't feel rested. We have new neighbours, who seem nice.

The HBFs approve of your clothing choice Apricot Grin

Fingers crossed for ScaredyCat and [gauntlets] for the vet.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 18/07/2022 14:05

It's 32 in the shade of the flower beds, 36 on the patio in the shade.
<resumes work>

ApricotCrush · 18/07/2022 16:52

Afternoon. I stayed in the house this morning doing jobs and went into the garden after lunch. Was like walking into a sauna. 35 degrees here according to our max/min thermometer.

Helen that bite sounds nasty. Sad at rabbit. And how could you send your child to school on a school day? Wink

Hope LetUs got her parking space, WW didn’t work too hard, and ScaredyCat is alright.

OP posts:
FancyFancy · 18/07/2022 17:50

Ouch helen <passes piriton>

It's exactly like that letus, I can't resist books either!

So the vet's theory after x-rays is a hernia, so she is staying in overnight and an op is scheduled for tomorrow. Think kindly of her. And my wallet <gulps>

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 18/07/2022 18:31

You saucy minx Apes Grin

Poor ScaredyCat Sad

The heatwave is reaching us in the middle of this week, don’t think we will get 36 degrees though 😱

LetUsPrey · 18/07/2022 18:34

Evening wenches.

I’m mellllltttttiiiinnnggggg. Thankfully got the last shady parking spot - hurrah! Leaving the office at 5 was a bit of a shock and we don’t even have air conditioning.

Helen you absolute monster! How could you do that to your child? Double ouch re non-depuffing ankle.

Hope the first day back was bearable Wicked.

That sounds understandably worrying (and expensive) Fancy.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 18/07/2022 18:35

Maybe I’m a weirdo but this made me laugh Grin ”Then he came in to finish off the legs he'd brought in to save for later”.
It was nice of KillerKitten to bring a snack.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 18/07/2022 19:55

Waste not, want not - that is clearly KillerKitty's motto - where rabbits are concerned. Grin

DS spent the day doing Cahoot quizzes at school Hmm I've capitulated and said he can stay home tomorrow. Providing he spends time doing this that don't involve a screen.

Glad to hear you managed to get a shady spot LetUs - fingers crossed for tomorrow as well.

Fingers crossed for ScaredyCat and Fancy's rapidly diminishing bank balance.

This evening I have been watering the poor wilting veg patch (the waterbutts are running dry Confused ) and swatting more fecking bitey flying bastards. I have a mild headache and am planning on an early night.

Wine Gin [airblades] etc for all wenches

LetUsPrey · 19/07/2022 07:11

Morning wenches.

It’s already too hot and it can fuck right off.

That’s still quite evil parenting Helen <shakes head sadly>

Good luck today Fancy.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 19/07/2022 09:14

Morning wenches. Hot-hot-hot. 27 in the shade on the lawn. My ankle is still large and puffy and unpleasant (fecking flying bitey bastards).
<reclines on chaise next to airblade with legs foot up in the air>

DH has been called into the office, but at least has car has working air con, so he's probably going to be cooler than us in the house..

FancyFancy · 19/07/2022 10:25

<melts>

ApricotCrush · 19/07/2022 16:28

Afternoon. 38 degrees here. Shock I can't even sit in the shade as it's too hot so I've been indoors doing stuff that doesn't take much energy. Misty has been flat out all day.

Oh poor ScaredyCat, hope she's alright.

Hope everyone has managed to keep reasonably cool.

OP posts:
WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 19/07/2022 18:50

38 degrees??!! Shock

It’s supposed to be 30 degrees tomorrow and 34 on Thursday but then the heat will fuck off thankfully.

LetUsPrey · 19/07/2022 21:39

Evening wenches.

I think we got to 35 or 36 today. Office was stuffy but managed to be surprisingly productive this morning. Got to about 2pm though and nope. Can feel it getting cooler now and I’ve been sitting outside with my jigsaw. I’d still be out there but neighbour’s playing his guitar still and I’ve had enough. A bit of peace in my own garden just for a little while, that’s all I want but no.

How’s the ankle Helen?

DS2 is being a total sod which is by no means down to the heat as it’s an ongoing situation but it’s definitely not helping.

Any news re ScaredyCat Fancy?

FancyFancy · 19/07/2022 21:48

Sadly not the best news - a tumour rather than a hernia Sad It has been removed & samples sent off for tests to see what sort of tumour, so, more waiting, both to see whether this helps with the not eating and whether it's benign or not, and if not, whether it's treatable. She is back home with me looking pretty sorry for herself with a feeding tube in place, so I am NurseFancy for the night.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 19/07/2022 21:54

Fancy ❤️❤️❤️❤️

LetUsPrey · 19/07/2022 22:25

Oh Fancy, so many things crossed for the most positive news possible. Many many unwenchy hugs.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 19/07/2022 22:52

Ah shite Sad that's rubbish Fancy - fingers crossed for something benign and that taking it out will make her feel better. Sad

I am hot and sweaty - niagw. I think it went over 40 in the sun, and mid-30s in the shade here. I have been carpet cleaning in prep for visit of the cat-allergic friend, which wasn't the best thing to do in the heat. Ankle is still large and puffy, but not as bad as it was. I will see what it's like tomorrow and may contact the GP it it's not improved overnight.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 20/07/2022 07:45

Morning wenches. We have cloud and wind so it feels a lot cooler. phew. Ankle is puffy but not painful anymore, so I think I don't need to bother the GP.

The HBFs are very interested in NurseFancy, though completely understand that she may be too busy to pay them much attention.

Have a good day all.

LetUsPrey · 20/07/2022 07:52

Morning wenches.

Running a bit late. Temperatures thankfully cooler overnight, although DS2 did get up at about 3am and decided he needed a shower to cool off. Seemed to do the trick for him.

Good that your ankle’s not sore any more Helen. Athos has offered to help you keep it elevated though.

Everything crossed Fancy.

FancyFancy · 20/07/2022 13:33

Thanks wenches. Thank goodness for it being cooler today - last night was not pleasant what with having to keep the windows shut and the patient inside. The little madam hid under a bed this morning so I didn't have a chance to feed her ahead of her check up this morning. They are pretty happy with her recovery so far & she is spending the day at the vets so they can monitor her (in the cool!) and see if they can encourage her to eat.

Yay for the ankle being a bit better helen - long may that continue. DId you get any thunder yesterday? We had a pitifully small amount - I would class it a disappointment of thunder.

Keeping fingers crossed the heatwave doesn't swing your way now ww

Are people being less irritating today letus?

Now it's cooler are the knickers back on apricot? Grin

ApricotCrush · 20/07/2022 16:55

Afternoon. I had an awful night and ended up decamping to the lounge. The house is so hot and I can't seem to cool it down. I've had windows open all day where possible because of Misty, and it's still 30 degrees. Confused That thermometer has never been more appropriate. I did put knickers on to go to Lidl, but I'm now back in my sarong and knickerless. Grin

Oh Fancy, I'm so sorry about ScaredyCat and do hope that she will recover fully and the tests show that it's benign. <hugs>

<sends Vinnie to deal with LetUs's neighbour and his guitar>

Hope it doesn't get too hot WW and glad that Helen's ankle is improving.

LetUsPrey · 20/07/2022 19:26

Evening wenches.

Folk are still irritating but it’s too windy to sit outside with a jigsaw so I only noticed it when I put the washing out when I got in from work.

It’s been so much better today now those stupid unnecessary temperatures have fucked off.

Probably safer to pop your knickers on for Lidl Apricot. Tricky situation if there were any sudden gusts of wind!

Finished one knitting project which was helping out someone at work so now I can get on with my own stuff.

Hope ScaredyCat’s appetite has perked up. We had thunder forecast for today from last week but then the forecast changed and Sad no thunder for us.
