Change of circumstances dla wait time 2022

Hi I am a single mother of a 9 year old boy with JIA , I put in a change of circumstances to dla as he gets low care but this was awarded for his mental health before his diagnosis and change in care needs . I have been told my application must sit in queue for 17 weeks before it’s looked at . I have been doing some research online about this wait time and seem to find nothing . Would love some advise on other people currently waiting on a coc .

My decision wasn't over turned on MR for my son. So we are going tribunal just finished sending all my evidence off. So fingers crossed we get Somewhere but I no I've got a long wait ahead off us.

Fingers crossed it won’t get to tribunal for you , I just received a text from the tribunal service that the DWP changed their decision in my favour before the hearing, I put that change of circumstance in June 2022 and it’s just now been overturned🤦🏻‍♀️was worth the fight though 100%!

They’ll send your hearing date during the week coming I expect but they have 4 weeks to respond.

@lottielouwho23 hi I've just sent all my evidence to tribunal and now it's just the case off waiting for a court date or a change in decision from dla before it goes court. I never sent all the evidence off when applying for Coc as I didn't think I would need to with my lad having adhd pda and adhd and he has to travel 72 miles a day to special needs school and the taxi journey he hates and its not going well at all resulting in him not allowed in taxi now. Its such a shame that when they send children to schools so far out with such complex needs to travel 2 hours each way to school it's torture for him.

@Lottielouwho23 we’re just waiting on our letter to start an appeal, did you send any extra evidence? I put our COC in July, I feel like they haven’t read anything I’ve sent 😩 do you know how long it took from you sending off for the appeal to you hearing they changed it?

Yep! I sent loads of new information for the COC and they told me nothing had changed! We’re 3 weeks into a mandatory reconsideration. They tried to brush me off but clearly hadn’t looked at the new evidence…. when I did them MR I pointed out all the parts I wanted them to look at! So we will see what happens

My son has just been awarded Higher Mobility after a year of protesting im over the moon plus back pay which I didn’t think they would do as in our MR we added extra evidence. Really didn’t think this would happen and would have to go to tribunal! Sending luck to everyone still waiting, keep fighting for what our children need!

It’s so frustrating isn’t it. I literally highlight all the things they’ve overlooked and bullet pointed all my reasons of why there’s didn’t make sense but even still that didn’t help. I really hope it’s different for yours! I think it depends on whose desk it lands on and if they understand the condition the child has got. I’ve got to find more evidence now for tribunal but honestly not sure what else I can say

yes it’s very frustrating!! I’ll find extra evidence if needed from doctors and school but hoping it doesn’t come to that! The girl who did my son MR on the phone actually said what does how big he is have to do with it? 🤦🏼‍♀️ he’s only 7 but the height and weight of a 10-11 year old which makes him a tad more harder to manage that a 7 year old!

@ASDmummy2019 my decision was overturned 4 weeks after logging the appeal so we didn't have to go through the tribunal xx

We didnt even send more evidence than what we sent to dla. The lady from dla who over turned it couldnt believe he had been declined the hrm she was absolutely lovely and rang me to personally tell me she was overturning the decision and to keep strong and i was an amazing mum to keep fighting. She made me cry lol she also did his renewal whilst on the phone and awarded for just over 6 years. She was amazing i couldn't thank her enough xx

just wanted to update you and advised my sons decision was overturned at MR he has been awarded HRM. Keep up the fight.

just for details I put a change of circumstance in aug 22 refused feb 23 MR done 15th feb… finally over turned this week.

I had a payment go into my bank.
I had a couple of calls but I didn’t answer them so don’t know if they tired one I thought could have been them was a scam call so didn’t answer any others x

Well if at first you don't succeed ...try try again. Letter received today following my request and we have been upgraded to high rate care as well as now getting low rate mobility. The wait is horrendous but that was a 4 week wait from the COC initial decision.

Yes I sent 22nd December and still waiting. Nearly half a year later.
