Hi I am a single mother of a 9 year old boy with JIA , I put in a change of circumstances to dla as he gets low care but this was awarded for his mental health before his diagnosis and change in care needs . I have been told my application must sit in queue for 17 weeks before it’s looked at . I have been doing some research online about this wait time and seem to find nothing . Would love some advise on other people currently waiting on a coc .

Nope still haven’t heard nothing yet I can’t believe it 24 weeks and counting :(

hate waiting and not knowing xx

PMM · 19/12/2022 10:04

Has anyone had any updates? I kind of want to call but wondering if it's worth it.
It will be 23 weeks Wednesday and not heard anything. The waiting is awful.

Does anyone know anything about DWP strikes? Apparently it's Doncaster(?) Will this affect claims being processed?

Ssabb90 · 19/12/2022 20:21

I called today they said it’s still with dm, still hasn’t been looked at, usually takes 48 hours but mine has been with them for a long time and they aren’t doing anything with it. so they have put an urgency onit so call again Thursday let you know how it goes x

Lianney84 · 19/12/2022 23:03

@Ssabb90 can't believe your still waiting wow. Along with the other ladies the wait is draining... I'm wait to hear about MR But I'm not ringing them again just going to wait as I can see me going tribunal I'm hoping not but you just never know.

Ssabb90 · 20/12/2022 01:54

It really is draining it’s the best way to describe it! Ahh gosh hope it doesn’t come to that hope your get the answer you have been waiting for hun x

Ssabb90 · 21/12/2022 12:47

Hello everyone hope all is well! Received a courtesy call this morning from dla to say my son has been awarded hrm however will not be backdated because he turned three last week despite my coc being done 8th July. Bitter/sweat I suppose! Over the moon with the decision because I was getting really worried :( now I can apply for blue badge which I desperately need as he loves being out and about x

Ssabb90 · 21/12/2022 12:48

Hope you all get some good news!! Keeping my fingers crossed for you all x

PMM · 21/12/2022 13:42

I've gave up and not holding out any hope for hearing anything this week. It's beyond ridiculous it's taking this long.
My son is on LRC and now age 11 he needs more care than when I first applied when he was age 4. I was advised to do a COC and now wondering why I even bothered.
He needs 24 hour supervision and has numerous conditions including autism, developmental delays and sleeping disorders.
With COVID we have struggled to see his paediatrician. I feel like everything is against us at the minute. I'm definitely deflated today.

PMM · 21/12/2022 13:45

@Ssabb90 congratulations! I posted before I seen your post.
I'm so pleased you've finally heard something although disappointed for you not getting it back dated x

Ssabb90 · 21/12/2022 13:52

I know it’s so disappointing because I thought they was entitled to a back date 6 months before turning 3 but obviously not. Think I’m still going to speak to somebody and see if that’s right. I am just really happy he got the hr I have to carry him everywhere will be able to pay for some extra help now can not wait. I really hope you hear something soon xx

Ssabb90 · 21/12/2022 13:56

@PMM i just realised your not far behind me! Really hope you get it before Xmas or Atleast the new year xx

PMM · 21/12/2022 14:53

I'm not really confident tbh. I kind of regret even putting in a COC even though I was told to do a MR when he was awarded the LRC.

I hope they backdate it for you. It really doesn't seem fair that they won't. I would definitely speak to someone x

Ssabb90 · 21/12/2022 19:35

I know the feeling I was not confident at all honestly but thank god I was not banking on that back date lol! I’m sort of fuming because I told the physio I’d buy some equipment to speed receiving them looks like she will have to order them and we will just have to wait :( x

Ssabb90 · 21/12/2022 19:36

He’s a really big boy as well but I’m just so happy I get that blue badge now xx

PMM · 22/12/2022 09:34

I'm really pleased you got the badge you needed. It just annoys me when the money awarded can make such a huge difference and they won't backdate. It just seems unfair.
At least now you can take your little one out with a bit more ease, it's just sad you had to fight and wait so long for that x

Ssabb90 · 22/12/2022 15:56

I know I think they should change the rules although he’s three he is in age 5 clothes and bmi is always in red so it’s a back breaker carrying him everywhere. He’s really tall and loves to eat but doesn’t move to burn it off so When this blue badge comes we will be out every day I can’t wait, really hope you hear something soon!! Please let us know x

PMM · 22/12/2022 21:11

It's sad they won't assess on an individual assessment rather than have those strict guidelines. It just seems unfair not to get it backdated, especially as the money could have helped towards equipment.

Hopefully soon 🤞 I'm not holding my breath though. I didn't feel confident in the first place because we didn't have a lot of evidence due to his pediatrician cancelling and only telephone consultations during lockdown. We had to homeschool due to his sleep issues and anxiety so nothing from school. But I have to literally sleep when he sleeps as he needs 24 hour supervision. I'm still waiting for referrals and keeping a sleep chart. When I was advised to update his claim by Speech and Language I thought it would be just updating his information. I didn't think it would be such a tedious process.

PMM · 23/12/2022 12:36

I called this morning and so pleased he was given MRC no mobility like I expected. This was exactly what I hoped for.
I'm so relieved!
Just over 23 weeks but the wait is over x

Ssabb90 · 23/12/2022 15:55

Oh this is brilliant news!! Really happy for you hun. They must be getting them done a little fast before Xmas!! Hope everybody else gets some good news soon :) xx

Lianney84 · 23/12/2022 17:03

Congratulations to you ladies. I've called today for update on MR but not been looked. I'm going to enjoy My Christmas and new year and try again.. merry Christmas you lovely ladies xxx

Ssabb90 · 23/12/2022 20:09

Merry Christmas to you all!

CJP90 · 03/01/2023 23:43

Hi all! I was just wondering if anyone has tried to ring in the New Year? I’m on 23 weeks waiting now for change of circumstances I called the first week of December and was told my case isn’t assigned yet but someone should be with it the week after. I’m at a point now where I’m not holding out for anything as it’s been so long and feel like they tell you different times on the phone.

Lianney84 · 04/01/2023 17:57

@CJP90 hiya you should here something soon my coc took 23 weeks. I've waiting on a MR now and dla dm called me today to ask a few questions I've never had that before x

ASDmummy2019 · 12/01/2023 18:05

Hi just wondering if anyone has had any updates recently? We’re on 22 weeks and still nothing 😔
