Hi I am a single mother of a 9 year old boy with JIA , I put in a change of circumstances to dla as he gets low care but this was awarded for his mental health before his diagnosis and change in care needs . I have been told my application must sit in queue for 17 weeks before it’s looked at . I have been doing some research online about this wait time and seem to find nothing . Would love some advise on other people currently waiting on a coc .

Hi guys, called today as you do. My application is with a dm. They couldn’t tell me how long it has been with the dm, how long did every body wait at this stage? I know it’s different for everybody but I think my app should be quite straight forward things have changed due to my son turning 3 his health has remained the same if that makes sense x

Mkd1322 · 09/12/2022 16:30

Do you think its worth calling to see if its been done? Xx @Ssabb90

Ssabb90 · 09/12/2022 17:14

Yes I would because who knows how long they have it for and my first one was done on the same day they had it and nothing has changed for my son. Hope ours are both done on Monday lol x

Hi anyone had to do an MR I did one on the 1st December just wondering how long it take I was told 2 weeks it's nearly that now.

Mkd1322 · 14/12/2022 16:23

@Lianney84 ive just done one mine took 4 weeks but only because they were waiting for evidence. Ive just logged my appeal xx

Lianney84 · 14/12/2022 16:44

@Mkd1322 Oh gosh hope u get result your child deserves. I best get ready to do appeal I'm guessing. They would off had my mr 2 weeks tomorrow. Thanks for getting back to me. Any other mummy's on here had any news xx

Lianney84 · 14/12/2022 21:10

@Angeldust12 is that MR xx

Ssabb90 · 15/12/2022 00:15

Still nothing Iv actually gave up xx

Angeldust12 · 15/12/2022 07:13

Yeah my MR took 4 weeks and they upheld there decision of medium rate care and high rate mobility I didn't take them to a tribunal just left it a couple of months phoned to do change of circumstances and lady said to fill out another application which I did and explained on the form I wasn't happy with them moving me off high rate care to medium and just been awarded high rate care and high rate mobility for 5 years only waited 6 weeks and that was from sending another application

Lianney84 · 15/12/2022 07:35

@Angeldust12 thats brilliant I'm hoping for some good news. Do they back date mr from my coc in June or will it be from the date I put in mr x

PMM · 15/12/2022 08:55

COC scanned 13th July and heard nothing at all. Called yesterday and was told it could be end of this week, next week or the New Year. So helpful :/ even said it was 21 weeks and they are working 22 weeks...

Ssabb90 · 15/12/2022 10:17

Mine is 8th July, it’s been with a case worker for a week. Iv called today they said it looks like it’s with a case worker still but hasn’t been looked at. I think they get a few applications at a time. But you shouldn’t be too far behind me x

PMM · 15/12/2022 11:39

The person I spoke to yesterday didn't have any information about mine at all. She even argued on how long it had been, it was 22 weeks yesterday and she argued it was 21 weeks. Absolutely pointless calling, some are really helpful the one I got yesterday was useless. The longer the call went on the longer it was going to take.

Fingers crossed it's soon and I will be so frustrated after all this time and no.good news. The waiting is just the worst!
I hope you hear something soon x

Lianney84 · 15/12/2022 13:21

What gets me is they only get 20 minutes to read threw evidence and application how can they judge children or any application in that time ?? I'm not sure if it goes threw the the system step by step like whilst we are waiting 5 months plus I'm not sure what they do in the wait up to the decision maker only having 20 minutes each application 🤦‍♀️

PMM · 15/12/2022 13:46

I don't understand how it works or how it's taking so long - when first time claims are done so much quicker. Surely they need a more efficient process or even a way we can check the progress of claims online so we get up to date information. People seem to get conflicting information, I know I have. It adds to the frustration and the wait is just so anxiety provoking.

Angeldust12 · 15/12/2022 15:13

Mine said the decision was made with the reports and medical letters I sent

Lianney84 · 18/12/2022 16:04

Any ladies had any news.. also when you do MR if successful and awarded does it get back dated to the original date you sent form off. For instance my coc was with them 23 weeks and I did my mr over 2 weeks ago. Tia xx

Angeldust12 · 18/12/2022 19:14

Yeah I'm pretty sure it gets back dated ro original date when you applied
