Hi I am a single mother of a 9 year old boy with JIA , I put in a change of circumstances to dla as he gets low care but this was awarded for his mental health before his diagnosis and change in care needs . I have been told my application must sit in queue for 17 weeks before it’s looked at . I have been doing some research online about this wait time and seem to find nothing . Would love some advise on other people currently waiting on a coc .

I would call since we are getting through faster, won’t take as much of your time if you call today hopefully xx

Cass29 · 18/11/2022 10:48

@Ssabb90 im scared incase it is bad news after all this time xx

Liverpoolgirl40 · 18/11/2022 10:49

@Cass29 give them a call as he said they are getting through them faster now. I sent one letter from his consultant and that was it xx

Cass29 · 18/11/2022 10:52

Ive sent ehcp and ed phyc report as never had them for the original claim plus he was 3 years old and now 6 and a half so hoping to even get low rate mobility xx

Ssabb90 · 18/11/2022 11:28

Fingers crossed! My friend has done a coc with about the same evidence as you but she’s got a long wait ahead of her and she also feels very worried. The mobility questions are very confusing because how do you tick box a child that refuses to walk but can walk? Hopefully in years to come the questions accommodate autism a little more. I really struggled and my son can’t walk so can’t imagine what it’s like for everybody else, I would call I just checked the answered my call in 8 mins can’t believe it xx

@Liverpoolgirl40 finally your wait is over.... I'm sure you can relax a little now. I was 21 weeks on weds now going into 22 weeks I've had send off some more evidence about my sons transport to school it's his second taxi driver which is refusing to take him and the school In total If I was to take him myself means I'll be doing 76 miles a day just for my ds then I have 3 older ones in total different area to take its like 3.5 in total off my day in school runs. I do have a new car myself but I have pay after so many miles my limit is 45 a day I'm having to do double that.. its all a nightmare dla car would be great if we are awarded higher mobility we get lower atm and that was him going mainstream school things have completey changed for him my poor boy.

Lianney84 · 18/11/2022 11:42

3.5 hours off my day

Ssabb90 · 18/11/2022 12:08

@Ssabb90 yes it sure is we live in audlem cheshire and his school is kids Grove its 19 mile there and 19mile back then again to collect him 74 miles not 76. It's crazy. No I've not called today will do it next week as had sent evidence don't that recorded delivery seems I sent it to wrong address yesterday lol. I'm dreading it tbh just wish they could find him special needs school closer to home 😓

Lianney84 · 18/11/2022 15:56
